Today is Ophelia's first day at her new school and she's beyond nervous for it.
While getting her shoes on, Sabrina came into the room. "What do you think of this hat?" Sabrina asked her, Ophelia saw the hat was odd looking.
"Dare I ask?" Ophelia asked in confusion, Sabrina explained that she wanted the cheerleaders to notice her so they'd add her to the cheer squad.
Ophelia saw that the hat was pink with strips and had a purple feather. "You want the cheer-heads to be your friends?" Ophelia asked bluntly.
"What's wrong with that?" Sabrina asked a bit miffed, Ophelia sighed and explained that she had been bullied by cheerleaders at her previous school.
"It's one of the main reasons why I don't like cheerleaders." Ophelia told Sabrina, her cousin now felt bad. "I didn't know." Sabrina replied sadly.
Ophelia smiled sadly. "It's okay but just be careful of them in case they do something bad." Ophelia warned Sabrina, the two shared a soft smile.
"Sabrina, Ophelia! Breakfast time!" Zelda called out, the cousins raced downstairs to the kitchen. "Morning." The cousins said to their family cheerfully.
While Ophelia ate her food, Sabrina tried to hide her hat but was caught by Hilda who wanted an explanation about the ugly hat that Sabrina wanted to wear.
"Just be yourself." Zelda told her niece, this made Sabrina smile. "Also don't bring any shame to the Spellman family." Hilda added in, Ophelia giggled.
"Let's go." Sabrina said to Ophelia, the four girls walked to the middle school before parting ways with Zelda and Hilda as they were in high school.
After Ophelia got her class schedule, she showed it to Sabrina. "Aside from music we have the same classes." Sabrina told her with a huge smile.
This also made Ophelia happy to know that she shared some classes with her cousin and that her locker was right next to Sabrina's locker as well.
"Hey Sabrina!" A smooth voice called out, Ophelia felt a hand on her shoulder. "I think you've got the wrong girl." Ophelia replied shyly as she turned.
Ophelia saw one girl and two boys behind her. "Oops, sorry new girl." The girl said sheepishly, Ophelia giggled softly and told her not to worry about it.
Sabrina smiled and introduced the four to each other as Chloe, Harvey and Pi who are her friends. "This is my cousin Ophelia." Sabrina told her friends.
The three friends did a double-take. "Are you two twins?" Pi asked Sabrina and Ophelia, they face-palmed. "We're not twins, we're cousins." Ophelia answered.
Just then, the bell rang so Sabrina dropped off Ophelia at the music room. "Here I go." Ophelia said as she took a breath, she went into the classroom and froze.
All the other students were watching her. "Welcome Miss. Winters." Ms. Proud said with a smile, Ophelia smiled back at the music teacher then introduced herself.
Being the new student meant that Ophelia had to sing for the class so the teacher would know where to place her and Ophelia knew which song to sing at that moment.
So Ophelia walked up to the front of the classroom and looked at her list of songs on her phone then plugged it into the music player to start as music filled the classroom.
[Play Waiting in the Wings by Eden Espinosa]
[Ophelia]
Guess we all are born with parts to play
Some of us are stars, and some are just in the way
I know I was meant for glory
But that's never what my story brings
And yet I keep on waiting
When you have the passion and the drive
You expect your moment center stage to arrive
I show up with heart a blazing
Ready to achieve amazing things
But I'm left waiting in the wings
I hear my cue
And yet I'm kept there, waiting
Know what to do
And still I stand there, waiting
It's always someone else who sings
While I'm left waiting in the wings
And so I keep on keeping on
My chances come and then I blink and they're gone
Always overlooked unfairly
While pretending that it barley stings
But it stings, yes, it stings
And I'll shed no tears
I'll only keep on waiting
If no one cheers
Well, I can keep on waiting
Who cares how loud
The silence rings
You'll find me waiting in the wings!
At the end of the song, Ophelia opened her eyes to see the students either crying or stunned into silence. "So...how'd I do?" Ophelia asked Ms. Proud, she smiled softly at her.
"That was beautiful and very well sung." Ms. Proud replied nicely, the students agreed. "Thank you." Ophelia replied sweetly, she was told to sit next to Gem Stone in the front.
Ophelia stopped smiling at the mention of Gem's name since Sabrina warned her about the mean girl. "Why do I have to sit next to her?" Gem whined to the teacher in disgust.
"I don't want to sit next to you either." Ophelia thought in annoyance, she wisely kept her mouth shut so class could continue even though Gem kept complaining about her.
All throughout the morning, Ophelia manged to keep Gem from finding out that she and Sabrina are cousins while avoiding Sluglofe so he wouldn't pull any pranks on her first day.
However at lunch, Ophelia sat with Sabrina and her friends which was a bad move. "No wonder you and Spellman look a like." Gem's voice rang out, everyone looked at the mean girl.
"Go away Gem." Chloe hissed out, Gem didn't leave but started to mock Ophelia who was shaking in rage. "Uh-oh." Sabrina muttered, she remember that Ophelia had a short temper.
Before anyone could stop her, Ophelia got up and 'SMACK!' Gem was holding her left cheek which had a red hand print on it. "What was that for?!" Gem cried out in pain and anger.
"Listen here you queen-bee, wanna-be! You better just walk away now and forget about messing with my cousin and her friends or else!" Ophelia said with a snarl, Gem ran away crying.
Unfortunately for Ophelia, the teacher who had lunch duty escorted her to the office where the principle gave her a strict warning to not use violence to which Ophelia promised not to do.
For the rest of the day, everyone was talking about how Ophelia hit Gem because she was defending Sabrina and their friends but Ophelia didn't talk to anyone at school unless she had to.
Once Sabrina and Ophelia got home, Uncle Quigley lectured his black haired niece for what she did so she apologized and promised to control herself if something like this happens again.
But Sabrina defended her cousin and explained what had happened during lunch but Ophelia ran up to her room and slammed the door shut in case her family started to argue any more.
For the rest of the day, Ophelia stayed in her room and did her homework but once that was done, Ophelia still didn't come out to eat since she was still upset about today and at herself.
Everyone was worried about the young girl, however, once everyone else was asleep, Ophelia came out of her room and got some food to eat before she went back to her room but stopped.
Ophelia looked at Sabrina's door and saw something was glowing inside her room so she decided to investigate by opening the door, when she opened the door, Ophelia was shocked deeply.
Sabrina, Aunt Zelda and Aunt Hilda were dressed as witches while chanting a spell as they stirred a cauldron not to mention that Salem was talking about the spell to the three witches.
"WHAT IS GOING ON?!" Ophelia shouted in fear, her shout startled her cousin, Salem and aunts. "Ophelia!" The four shouted in worry, the young girl in question stared at them then fainted.
Sabrina, Zelda, Hilda and Salem stared at Ophelia's passed out form. "Not good." Salem said breaking the silence, the three witches face-palmed at the black cat for stating the obvious.
New chapter done! I don't own the song in this chapter, please review and no flames!
