Chapter Three

"Naruko! I need some help over here! Quick!"

A blonde haired woman, of a curvy and short stature, perked up the urgent and gentle sound of her friend's voice calling her name. Her sapphire blue eyes landed on her blue haired, pale eyed friend.

"Hinata? What is it?" Naruko asked with a bit of worry in her voice. Her friend was busy tending the wound of a severely hurt warrior. Their village was quite small. Although, wars happen around here quite frequently, so they end up treating wounded soldiers more often than not.

The warrior her friend, Hinata, was taking care of had a really bad head wound that, when they first found him, Naruko was fearful that he was not going to make it. Not only that he always had a large gash on his left forearm and he was missing two fingers. The wound has already started to swell up, and becoming smeared with yellow pus.

"Can you grab some more medicinal plants that would help in infection?" Hinata asked. Her brows were creased with sadness and worry at the unconscious man before her. "I did all I can for him for now, but if we don't stop his infection, he may very well lose his arm. Or worse, die."

"Will do, Hinata!" Naruko didn't waste a moment to head out to the field to pick the plants Hinata needed.

For several years now, it's always been like this. Wars and famine everywhere. People dying left and right. Naruko, along with Hinata, learned the art of healing because they couldn't stand to see people suffering. Naruko wondered if what she was doing was much help in the long run because after the soldiers were fully healed and recovered they would just go back into battle, wouldn't they?

She sighed sadly to herself.

When would the battles ever stop?
