Miss Queen B: Hello once again Lovely Readers, I'll keep this short to Notes:
Note one: So this is it, the last chapter of the story which I'm sad to say since a lot of readers were disappointed that it wasn't longer like my other story "Deep Blue Sea" and I'm sorry for that, but I didn't want to drag it out too long since it was suppose to be only two to three parts long, but oh well, I had a lot of fun writing it no less. This would be the first story where I used all of the Kaijus (minus Ghidorah) in it.
Note Two: Thank you so much for the reviews and sorry for all the tears, I didn't think a lot of people were going to cry so I'm sorry for that. Other than that, the reviews were amazing, every single one of them. Love you all!
Note Three: So about this chapter: Scylla might be overstaying her welcome at the Royal couple's home. Behemoth and Rodan have a discussion about what happened that night with the Muto and Scylla. There's another time jump where Scylla can't seem to forget Behemoth no matter how hard she tries. And an unlikely Kaiju gives her advice that made her realize her mistake, but it is too late? Enjoy.
Gentle Waves
Part VI
~If you want to know
How much I love you
...Just count the waves.~
~Unknown
Rodan didn't stay long after her little friend healed his swollen eye which in her opinion was uncalled for, but didn't want to start anything up with her since to Mosura the day ended on a good note. She nearly lost her composer when Mosura finally asked him how he got those injuries in the first place and even mentioned if it was Methuselah who went too far with him? The look on Rodan's face made her want to laugh by the way he was blushing and looking away so he wouldn't have to answer her. She, too, had to look away to hide the amusing expression on her face since she knew the background from what the Muto told her. What crappy luck for him to go find flowers for her friend, get beat up to a bloody pulp, only to burn those plants to a crisp from seeing the newborn Prince in all his lizard-kaiju glory. When he left, Mosura let out a deep breath as if she'd been holding it in the whole time the fire demon was here before rubbing her temples from the massive headache she developed. When she asked her if she was alright, she just smiled and said her King's control on his emotions did a number on her so she was glad the visit didn't last long.
That was hours ago and now the sun was gone and the night sky was filled with stars and an emptiness feeling. Mosura was tired, she can tell by the way her eyes kept closing only to snap out of it whenever Azure intervened. It took a lot of convincing, but she managed to get her friend to sleep while she watched over the fussy little kaiju since the King was in one of his moods and still hasn't return from the ocean. So there she was, having another one of Azure's staring contests while on the other side of the island, his mother was curled up in a ball for some much needed sleep with her wings spilled out like a colorful sea. She must be having a happy dream because her wings were glowing bright that lit up the island. Which was nice since there was no moon and it made it easier for her to see the little Prince.
Come on now, Little one, you're going to have to blink sooner or later. She said, staring down at the little Prince.
His glowing blue eyes didn't blink, he just tilted his head in a curious way while wagging his tail. She couldn't help, but feel relaxed around the baby kaiju that she didn't even care he was the splitting of the King.
So how about you show me that "Atomic Breath" power of yours. Surely you can do it better than your Sire? She joked.
He gave her a questionable look and finally blink..
Hm….I'm sure Dear King will show it to you one day when you understand it better. She said, letting her tentacles slowly snaked themselves over to him. His head shifted back and forth and started to growl from the sudden closeness he was feeling. One of them grabbed his tail which he quickly counterattack by biting down on it with those tiny teeth. She flinched from the sudden pinch, but he was still too young to actually draw blood. With a giggle, she slowly lifted him up till he was high above her face as he struggled to get out of her grip.
Don't be scared I use to do this to all my hatchlings. They found it funny, why not you?
He growled and tried to bite her again. What a moody baby, is there anything he got from her kind and gentle friend?
You're not going to laugh or smile for me? She asked, remembering the squeaky snickers Azure made thanks to Rodan's embarrassing gift offering.
The "Stupid Squid" look appeared on his face and she lowered him down to the ground again. Placing him on his feet, he wobbled for a moment before standing perfectly still so he wouldn't fall over. The intrigued look on his face knowing he could actually stand instead of crawling on all four spread across his face. He took one step forward, the determination in his eyes and readiness to teach her not to mess with him made her want to giggle, only to fall flat on his face. '
You almost had it. She said, lifting him up to a sitting position with her tentacle.
He sat there and started to rub his eyes to get rid of the sand in it while letting out a small, frustrating whine.
She sighed and started to wipe the dirt off his face as gently as possible which surprised him a little. See? I'm not too bad of a kaiju though I really wish you would stop with all the staring.
His eyes narrowed and pointed over at Mosura.
No, let your mother sleep, she had a long day with you and that little meet and greet with the bird. She said
He started to snicker when the word "bird" left her mouth. That little mocking giggle Dear King would spewed out whenever he witnessed something stupid or embarrassing. It makes her wonder if he can pick up senses like his parents. Where Mosura can sense things out with her mind and Dear King can pick up things using his sight, hearing and smell. Could he sense something odd and confusing about Rodan thanks to bad history the bird had with his parents. Hopefully for peace and common sense, that part of their past will be left out when it comes to telling Azure certain things when he gets older.
So what do you think of the bird?
He rolled his eyes and she wasn't sure what that meant.
She yawned, Not really my favorite kaiju to be around, but someone I had to be civil with since I was seeing his companion…
Her tentacles tighten up when the Sloth Kaiju comes into mind again. Rodan's words about him being in a depressing mood didn't make her feel any better for what she did. She squirmed down a bit wondering if Behemoth told Rodan what happened in detail (and when she meant by detail meaning her rather unladylike attempt to seduce the older male), but there was no way he would say things like that to the bird. Behemoth always told her what a gentlemale he was and someone like that wouldn't "kiss and tell."
She groaned, It's for the best. She said and didn't know whether she was saying that to herself or to the little Prince. She looked down at him who was staring at her again. I mean, we're too different and even though it was fun hanging out with him and he is way more mature than that silly bird, and my parasite companion and no offense, your Sire, it just wouldn't work out. He just had different views than I did. I mean how could I replace what he used to have. He had a mate and a large family and they were all happy and in love and that's not me. Not that I don't know what love is, I love life, I love your mother like she was my sister and when I had my hatchlings, no matter how many there were, I loved every single one of them,...She looked up at the sky that was full of stars and could remember those nights when she would stargaze with Behemoth while whispering to each other so they wouldn't wake up Rodan…But to love a male for him, that's just...just unheard of. Breeders like myself...and I've gone through the cycle many, many times, don't love or fall in love with the other kaiju. Oh Kaiju, I think Behemoth was too blinded to see it unlike his stupid companions, how could he love me, I can't give him what he wanted….I can't be a lifemate like Mosura can….and he can't give me eggs like I want...so why be together when it will most likely end in sorrow and disappointment?
She looked down to find the little Prince fast asleep and somehow that offended her. Real mature, she's here spilling out her soul and the hatchling had the nerve to fall asleep.
I see someone pick up Behemoth's endless chattering. A deep voice whispered.
She looked up to see Dear King trying his very hardest to exit the ocean so he wouldn't wake up the Prince. How much did you hear? She whispered back.
Enough to nearly put me asleep from the sheer boredom as well, but either way it worked and hopefully he will stay asleep for the rest of the night.
Well, I'm glad I can help...I guess. She said, quietly.
How about I take over watching him so you can go home? He asked, even though he looked just as tired as Mosura did.
No, no, I'm too wide awake and comfortable. Take this opportunity to rest up, Dear King. She said. To be honest, she didn't want to go home knowing the Muto was there and going to ask questions or hit her if she tried to tend to those wounds of hers.
I'd rather lose sleep if it means for you to leave. He said, wiggling his body to get rid of the excess water. Staying here is not going to make your problems disappear.
I'm sorry, but Mosura said I can stay as long as I want, plus I'm just helping out with the little one like she did for me way back then.
He huffed, Be glad I'm too tired to argue. Wake me if you need a break then. He said, walking over to the other side of the Island where Mosura was. He didn't care that she was watching him lying down next to Mosura (causing her friend to bounce up a bit from Dear King's much larger form hitting the ground) and curling his tail around her in a protective cuddle form. Responding on pure instinct, Mosura turned her head so her forehead could touch his cheek and went back to sleep. A minute later, Dear King was asleep as well with the dull blue light flickering in his plates. Probably his reaction when it comes to dreaming and soon she was alone with her unwanted thoughts and feelings.
She still can't believe she spilled her feelings out to a week old hatchling….
0000000
She didn't know how long she was asleep, but it was the sound of voices that woke her up, yet she was smart enough not to move...especially with the Prince now all cuddled up in her tentacles and in a deep slumber. Through her sleepy eyes she could see it was still dark out with the Royal couple sitting next to the shoreline with their backs facing her. Great she thought, she lost count how many times she would catch those two doing something cheeky when they thought no one was watching and was about to tell them she was awake when Mosura spoke.
You know it's hard to sleep when you're moody so care to talk about it? Mosura whispered.
The lack of sleep and an unwanted guest who refuses to leave tends to put me in a bad mood and how can I forget about the bird being on my turf once again. He said, looking down at her with glowing golden eyes.
Mosura's wings drooped from his words Well you said you wanted everyone to meet their future King and he was one of them. I don't understand why you are so upset, I thought it went very well and he said he will be there to protect Azure when needed. Is it because Azure sort of like him?
No, Azure was laughing because the bird made a damn fool of himself. Our Prince can sense a stupid Jester standing next to him when he see it. Dear King said before letting out a very dark chuckle.
Mosura shook her head, If you say so then what made you so upset you dug your nails into your palms again. She said, pointing at his claws. I can smell your blood.
He took a deep breath, no doubt trying not to lose his temper. He needs to stop bringing you gifts.
It's not like I was asking for them. She said, while pointing at him to lie down on the ground.
He laid down on his stomach and held out his hand so she could take a look at the wounds. Then you need to stop accepting them.
There was no romantic intention in them. He was just happy for me. You should know it's normal for others to bring gifts for an Alpha's new heir. She said….These wounds are deep, my King...you're still bleeding.
I don't care, it needs to stop and the only way it's going to if you tell him yourself. He growled.
She sighed, So be it. She said while digging her claw into his palm. Soon a little blue light started to glow that made Dear King wince in pain. You know he only does that to upset you as well.
He snorted and turned his head away from her. Clearly bothered by the whole situation. There was a moment of silence between them which was making Mosura frown and dulling out her bright colors.
My King…...She started only to look down at the wet sand while her wings lazily fell to the ground…..Are you happy?
The question nearly made her move, but she kept herself still so she wouldn't wake the little Prince and Dear King's head shot up from his daydream and looked down at her. What kind of question is that? He asked, while switching hands so she can heal the other one.
I just want to make sure….since Azure was a surprise and I know we are still...well….I told this to Scylla one time after I found out I was carrying that I thought it wasn't a good time since we were still recovering from…
He stared at her with his glowing golden eyes and firm look. Are you happy? He asked. To her the way he said it was like he was making sure there was no chance she might stray away from him again.
Mosura nodded quickly, she didn't have to think about it, Yes, very much because I have you and I have our little Prince and I'm so in love with both of you. She whispered with a smile, but it slowly faded down to a frown again, But it wouldn't mean anything to me if you didn't feel the same way. When Rodan was here, I can sense your anger and resentment towards him….I can also sense the resentment you still have...towards me….my King….are you happy with me?
He huffed, I wish you would stop bringing this up. He said in a dark tone. I want that part of our past to be buried and forgotten.
You're wounds on your palms said otherwise. She whispered while looking down at the dirt.
Because he refused to let it go like you did. There's nothing you can do or I can do to make him realize who you belong to and that is what pisses me off.
You still didn't answer my question.
He hissed from his wounds healing up and pulled his hand away to examine it. After flexing his claws to test out the newly healed skin, he focused his attention on her once again. I'll admit seeing you next to him did bring back some resentment, but that will never change how I feel about you. I would have never agreed to reconnect with you or mate with you if I wanted nothing to do with you after what happened. You risk your life to carry Azure and yes, he was unexpected, but I wouldn't change it for anything.
Mosura crawled over to him and buried herself into his chest while wrapping her long arms around his neck. She suddenly heard a soft sniffle coming from her little friend.
Mosura, really, you're going to use this quiet time to cry. He asked, holding her close and tight with his arms.
I know you said you forgive me, but feeling your resentment towards me terrifies me that one day you will wake up and leave. That you stop loving me….that you might reconsider Her…..
I love you, my Queen. He whispered…..And I always will.
She really needed to look away because no doubt if Dear King spotted her spying on them during a very vulnerable time he would literally kick her off this island before she could apologize. Yet she was compelled to watch because of the emotions they were both exposing to one another. Mosura in tears, rack with shame, guilt and fear that her King could leave her at any given time. That he might be petty and try to hurt her the way she hurt him. Dear King offering comforting and reassuring her was another rare moment to witness knowing if she told anyone about this no one would believe her. She was glad to see being around Mosura taught him how to be warm, compassion and forgiving.
Mosura rubbed her cheek against him before giving him a soft, tiny lick. I don't deserve you...She whispered which Dear King responded by lowering his head down so their foreheads could touch. A small blue glow formed between them causing her wings and his plates to light up in a soft dim.
Don't say such silly things. He whispered back, while gliding his claws down her wing.
They stayed in their protective cuddle till they both fell back asleep which was a sign to her to catch up on her sleep as well. So she placed her head down next to the little Prince and closed her eyes and drifted off to dreamland.
The next day, it occurred to her that Dear King didn't sleep long because when she woke up, he was gone for his daily swim and Mosura and Azure were staring at a massive pile of trees left next to Mosura's sleeping spot. Some had different colors of leaves while others had variety of tiny citrus fruits and right there on top of the pile was one lone tree with pink flowers on it.
How long have you been up collecting these? She asked, walking over to her friend and the hatchling.
Mosura giggled, It wasn't me, I just woke up to find them next to me.
She thought at first they were from the firebird, but there were no burn marks on the trees or a smoky scent. In fact the trees were wet as if they swam across the sea to get to this location. She couldn't help, but chuckle a little. He must've been out doing this all night and all morning.
Mosura closed her eyes and smiled, I really don't deserve him. Mosura said.
Nonsense, from where I'm standing you two were made for each other. She said, though it didn't take a smart kaiju to figure out Dear King's true intentions. If Rodan brought her flowers, Dear King was not going to sit around and let the bird "One-up" him like that.
You know I thought the same thing about you and Behemoth. Mosura sighed while watching Azure examine the trees before stepping back in disgust. Yeah, not a plant eater like his mother, but wait….what?
Don't bring him up...there's no Him anymore. She said, looking out at the ocean.
I'm not trying to start anything, it was just my opinion. Mosura said.
I know, but like I said, I don't want to bring him up anymore. As far as I know he probably hates me for rejecting him.
I don't think Behemoth knows the definition of hate.
Still, I would rather talk about something else.
The less she thinks about it the easier it will be to move on…..
00000000
Meanwhile…
Rodan didn't return till the next morning which was expected of him since Rodan tends to take off for a long period of time whenever he needed to clear his head over shocking events. He was happy to say he was quite prepared to deal with the firebird because when Rodan landed on the ground in front of him, he had that same look in his eyes like he did when he found out about the Lovely Queen's pregnancy with his fire flaring up high in his wings. He didn't waste time scooping him up with his tusk and throwing him into the ocean before the fire demon could protest or take the opportunity to burn down another large portion of trees. He made a huge splash with thick vapors of steam filling the air only to quickly sit up with his claws gripping his face.
OH…..FUCK! Rodan screeched
Behemoth laid down next to him in the shallow part of the water. I figure you needed to cool off after meeting the young Prince. He said calmly.
YOU! Rodan pointed a claw in his face, but still he remained calm. You should've told me. I can understand those bitches not telling me because one of them is a psychopath and the other one is the Queen's best friend who hates me, but YOU!?
He was glad Rodan was in the water because no doubt the way he was screeching he would've lost control of his fire. I told you Rodan, if you knew there was no way you would've gone over there to see him and the last thing you want is the Queen to be upset with you.
I would've still gone! Dammit Behemoth…..the little one….he..he..he looks just like HIM...I...nearly lost it, but all I kept hearing was you voice to stay calm…those flowers I got for her, I accidentally burned them right in front of her...stupid, stupid stupid….He said while hitting his forehead….do you have any idea what I went through to get those plants and I fried them to a crisp...I actually went back to the city last night to grab more, but the building that had them was demolished….they're all GONE….that fucking, disgusting, parasite of a Whore!...I'm going to get her for this….I know she was the one who destroyed that building….
Rodan-
NO! Don't tell me to calm down and don't tell me to watch my language! Let me be angry about this! He shouted.
Did you at least make a good impression on the young one? He said, as calmly as possible.
Rodan stopped what he was doing and frowned from his question. Lowering his claws, he fell back into the water and sat there wincing in pain from the salty liquid. He let out a soft snort and clicked his tongue, I made the little brat laugh….he had the same look and snickers like his...Sire….I've been around the Brute long enough to know when I'm being mocked for my stupidity or making a fool out of myself.
But you kept your temper under control right? He asked.
I had to because the Brute was watching and the stuck-up Squid was there with that smug look….like she was waiting for me to mess up or lose my temper so the Queen can see the worse side of me...well, screw her all she got out of me was some sneer remarks. The Queen has seen the worse side of me a long time ago and still won't judge.
So Miss Scylla was there….how did she look?
That made Rodan raise a brow and cross his wings. How did she look?...like a giant, crab/squid kaiju….
He sighed and splashed a large portion of water into Rodan's face, My Fellow, that smart mouth of yours...I swear it gives me the worst headaches….
After spitting out some water, Rodan could help, but shrugged, I was hoping to get a laugh out of you.
Although I appreciate the kind gesture, I'm just not in a laughable mood. He said, But seriously, how was she?
Uh...she seems Ok, the Queen kinda mentioned her staying on that island for a while because her Parasite companion has been pestering her about something she couldn't talk about.
I see….so what did you do to our Dear Muto for her to inflict such injuries on your body?
Rodan didn't even look surprised when he mentioned the Muto, What gave it away?
Well, they did overpopulate the world way back then so it wasn't that easy to avoid them. Large Mass Kaijus like myself and our King were a huge target for females to inject their eggs into so I can recognize Muto's style wounds when I see them.
That female is crazy, she followed me to the abandoned city just to pissed me off.
What did she say?
There was a blank look on the Fire Demon's face as if that night was replaying in his mind. Just some things that were….He lowered his head and covered his face with his claws….true…. But the way she said just pushed me over the edge and I hope those wounds I gave her gets an infection.
Rodan, it's not gentlemale-like to fight with females….they need to be treated with love, respect and be worship.
That Pile of Rubbish is no female so count your lucky stars you don't have to deal with her. I caught her fighting with the Squid a lot and I don't know how or why she puts up with that parasite all the time. Man, that bitch can hit, but I won that fight, claws down. She should be lucky I didn't tear out her other eye. He said while looking at his sharp, burning claws.
Still Rodan, no matter how aggressive or persisted a female can be, you should never respond back since that tends to make things worse.
Persisted? Rodan asked, looking at him strangely, That's a funny way to say it.
Probably not the right word, but he started to have flashbacks to that night when Scylla rejected his proposal and left him there alone.
(Follow me into the ocean, and I'll let you have me. How long can you hold your breath?)
He can feel his face burning from her seductive words and the way she was pressing herself against his body. Methuselah told him about those Breeders and their "Mating Rituals" ways and here he thought the Rock Kaiju was over exaggerating it. It made him wonder if that was the main reason she always wanted him to swim in the ocean with her because that's where her breeding habits takes place? Afterall she did say she never "done it" on land.
Behemoth, are you OK? You look a little flustered. Rodan asked with this giddy look before letting out a light chuckle.
He cleared his throat, I apologize, just lost in thought.
I can tell so care to tell me what happened the other night while I was getting the crap beat out of me?
Didn't you say you won that fight?
Yes, but that doesn't mean I escaped unharmed. She nearly broke my spine and kicked me in a very sensitive spot and I nearly bit her tongue off-
Alright, alright, let's not bring up that anymore.
So what happened? Rodan chuckled, Did you try to put the moves on her only to embarrass yourself?
Now why in the world would you say that? He asked.
I don't know, I figure you might be...you know...rusty plus no offense, I can't see you use the art of seduction to…
What? Make a connection with a female?
See, you can't even say it bluntly...but sure, "make a connection."
Rodan, I had a Mate and produced many cubs in my life, I know how it works. He said, a little peeved. Honestly, he expected that kind of opinion from younger kaijus. How they can't seem to remember that older kaijus were young before and did wild things as well. He sighed and might as well tell him because he really needed someone to talk to. And no, I didn't "put the moves" on her….she was the one who actually tried to...um….start something. He said, trying his hardest not to put Scylla in a bad spotlight like that. Unfortunately, Rodan wasn't as censor as he was.
That horny Squid wanted a piece of you and you didn't go for it?! Rodan asked, stunned and amused at the same time. Damn, Behemoth, I knew you were polite and well-mannered, but come on! I thought you liked her
Sheer sadness took over and he looked away to hide the hurt in his eyes. He was always the "Bigger Kaiju" when it comes to bad times in his life. If he let himself lose control of his emotions, there was no turning back or turning it off. He can recall the last time that happened and it was when his Mate passed away. He was so comatose, never moving from his sleeping spot, and stopped eating and interacting with his cubs and friends. It took his eldest son to hit him back into reality and get him back to the real world where his cubs and grandcubs needed him and how heartbroken his mate would be to see him fall so far from grace. It was like history was repeating itself because he just wanted to lie here and fade away.
He grabbed hold of Rodan's face to shut him up for five seconds. He didn't fight back, just stood there and waited for something to happen. This is not funny, my friend….She wasn't acting like herself that night so there was no way I could go with it. She was so embarrassed she just wanted to leave and couldn't even look at me. I told her I didn't care, it would never change my thoughts about her…..I didn't just like her, Rodan….I fell for her...I told her I loved her and wanted to make her mine….He let go of Rodan's face so he can fist his claws (and to keep himself from crushing his friend's skull)...She told me No and that she never wanted to see me again….she wouldn't even tell me if she ever had feelings for me…
He raised his fist up causing Rodan to flinch (which disturbed him. Did his friend really believe he was going to hit him because he was frustrated) only to bring it down in the water. A large wave hit his fur and nearly made the Fire Demon fall backwards.
I know you wouldn't understand Rodan, since we have different aspects when it comes to females, but I search for love and companionship and building a life with a female not just see them as easy flings just for the fun of it. Methuselah was right, I was over my head when it came to her. No matter how hard I tried, she just couldn't see herself with me.
Hey, I've been in love twice, Behemoth, and I lost them both so don't tell me I wouldn't understand! Rodan said, spraying water out of his beak and was slightly offended and hurt from his statement. I get it, you tried, and no doubt you're confused and hurt about it because you did everything a Gentlemale would do, but in the end, it was never meant to be. You didn't expect it to happen to a nice kaiju like yourself. I'm not even going to tell you the "I told you so" speech because I had a feeling she was stringing you along, but I thought she changed. I look at myself and see it as bad karma as my late-friend would put it for messing with so many females just for my own gain. Now I have to live with just the memory of my dead mate and watch the other female I lost have a happy life with a family…
What are you trying to say? He asked.
Rodan huffed, What I'm trying to say is that if I can recover from all that mess, no doubt you will be fine as well. I know it won't be easy, It wasn't for me, but thanks to you being there for me, it's getting better. Who knows there could be a chance she will come back, but if that's not the case, you can't let it eat you alive. You just have to move on. It's like what you told me a long time ago, Behemoth, the only way to go now is Up…
He couldn't help, but chuckle a bit. I can't believe you remember that.
I do. Rodan said, placing his claws on one of his tusks. And I'll be there with you the whole way.
Behemoth nodded even though he still felt hurt inside. The wound was still fresh so it will take some time, but it will pass and he was glad he had his companion to keep him from falling deeper in despair.
Thanks…..

(Time skip: Three months later)
She knew she was overstaying her welcome since Dear King would remind her of it every single day, but she couldn't help herself. She thought those hurt and weird feelings about rejecting the Sloth kaiju would go away in a week or so, but as the days turn into weeks that turn into months, not only did they stay, they were actually getting worse. So she did everything in her power to distract herself from these burden feelings which involves staying close to Mosura and looking after the little Prince. Mosure even made a joke about her hogging the little one from her, but was grateful no less since it was her first time being a mother and having a female with more experience helps out a lot. To be honest, it was more them helping her out since it gave her a chance to act like a mother after millions of years and just being here for emotional support.
Once in a while she would return to her home just to check on her companion and when she meant by checking on her is making sure she didn't come home to a dead carcass. The first time she went home was about a week after ending it with Behemoth to find the Muto trying to remove dead flesh out of her eye wound with no luck. She shook her head because the Muto wasn't taking care of those horrible wounds of hers and tried to help only to be pushed away with an ugly sneer. The swelling on her tongue went down and left an ugly bite shape scar behind. Goodness, when Rodan puts up a fight, he doesn't hold back, but that shouldn't surprise her after witnessing the shredded gills he gave Dear King during their last confrontation. Despite their differences, they were living together and she somewhat, very little, cared about her companion so she asked the parasite if she wants those wounds to heal completely and even get her eye and sight back, she could ask the Queen for assistance.
She ended up getting slapped in the face which made her leave the fuming parasite after that.
The next time she went home, the Muto was a little less moody and looking more like herself than the last time. But the pain and agony was replaced with planning and vengeance and wanted her to take her to where Rodan and Behemoth lived. Of course she declined which got the parasite to scoff and told her she needed her to go with her because when she makes an attempt to kill the firebird, she wanted her to keep the "Pile of Fur" from intervening. It was painful when she had to remind the Muto that she was no longer seeing Behemoth and to leave it as that. Of course it didn't take long for the Parasite to figure out some things, she knew she tried to seduce the sloth kaiju, but wanted to know all the details like some crazy prevert. She, once again, left shortly after that and headed back to Mosura's home-
Your tentacles are curling up. She heard Mosura's soft voice. Overthinking again?
She shook her head and for a minute completely forgot where she was or what she was doing. It wasn't till Mosura tapped her shell that she realized they were in the deep part of the ocean where the water was under her chin with Mosura resting on her shell and the little Prince swimming around her for his daily exercise. Dear King was off somewhere for his own daily swim and hunting.
No, of course not. She said, watching Azure swim by her again before disappearing in the water. A month ago, Dear King took the young Prince swimming for the first time while Mosura watch up on her sleep. At first, Mosura freak out since she thought Azure was still too young to explore the dangers of the underwater world, but Dear King told her, he did well for his first time. Caught on quickly what the gills on the little one's neck were for and even caught a few fish to feed on. Now with that milestone out of the way, Azure would rather spend his time in the water than on land. It was easy for Dear King since he can go down and keep an eye on the Prince, but it was difficult for Mosura since she can't breathe under water.
Oh, every time he goes underwater I get so frighten. Mosura said, leaning down a bit in hopes to see him.
She dunk her head underwater to see Azure swimming around her long crab-like legs to chase after a few wandering fish. She pulled her head up and chuckled, He 's fine, Mosura, just trying to grab a snack.
Still, the ocean is a very big place and it's hard for me to watch him. Mosura said, while spreading herself out on her shell and let out a big yawn.
I think you're overreacting a bit, Mosura, despite being a baby he's still bigger than a lot of the sea creatures down there.
I know, but my King was telling me he wants to take him to the bottom of the ocean and I know there's bigger monsters in the dark. She said.
It's not like Azure is going down there alone and Dear King will be watching him close by. If it helps I can go with them just to make sure.
Mosura sighed and shook her head, Scylla, are you sure you're OK?
What makes you think I'm not? She asked, only to flinch when she get a sharp bite on one of her tentacles. Azure's head popped out of the water a second later with a toothy grin on his face. She scoffed, Don't act so innocent, I know that was you biting me.
Young one, what did I tell you about biting Scylla like that? Mosura asked firmly while giving him a look.
Azura huffed and went back underwater without saying a word. She couldn't help, but chuckle from the situation. So any luck with him talking yet?
No, nothing yet, even the King is a little concerned about it. Just his normal grunts and growls for now, but it's not that hard to figure out what he needs or wants.
Well, just keep talking to him and he will eventually pick up some words here and there.
OOoh, that's the one thing I can't wait to hear soon. I can only imagine what Azure's first word would be. Mosura said with a bright and bubbly tone.
I have to say enjoy the silence while it lasts, remember when my hatchlings started to talk...the endless chattering from a hundred different little ones.
They both giggled, but her laughter slowly died down to a soft, sad hum when the words "endless chattering" came into mind. She thought about Behemoth and the first time they met when he found her struggling against the False King's calling. With rain falling and the city she destroyed burning down to the ground, he still put on a positive smile and introduced himself to her. He told her he was a strong believer in "love at first sight" and she still had a hard time believing the second he saw her, he fell in love instantly while she was in a bad mood from the chaos and his presence at that moment. Still….that didn't stop him from making sure she was taken care of when they ventured over to the False King's whereabouts that night. Looking back at it, she really felt bad for not appreciating what he did for her, his endless story-telling and just talking nonsense clouded her from seeing death and destruction around them. And here she thought his talking was annoying. In fact, he was always like that, always making sure her well-being was taken care of before his.
Scylla….?
She sighed and lowered herself deeper into the water. Sorry, I lost my train of thought…
Mosura crawled down till her head rested on top of her own and hum, Thinking about him again? She asked.
No….She said, though there was no fight in that word…..maybe…..I don't know, when I said the word "chattering"...it just….
Don't sound embarrassed, it's common for little things to remind of someone you miss.
I didn't say I miss him. She said, while her eyes followed the young Prince swimming by her again.
Mosura shrugged, You know when the King and I were separated, there were so many little things that would remind me of him. I couldn't tell if it was a blessing or a curse because it would make me feel at ease when I think about him, but at the same time made me realize he was gone.
Oh stop Mosura, I don't need one of your lectures right now.
I'm not trying to lecture you. I'm just saying why is it so hard for you to admit you are missing him.
It's not that hard because I don't miss him. Just because he came into mind doesn't mean I'm missing him.
Oh really, because for the past three months you've been here, I would see you just mopey around or using Azure to distract you from facing the truth.
No, I'm here so I can help out just like you used to do for me.
And as much as I love having you around and the help, he's only one hatchling, Scylla. Way different from the hundred you would have to look out for plus, just like before, I can sense and see the tension and ugliness between you and my King.
That's just normal. He just wants me to leave and go home, but I can't.
Why? Is the Muto giving you a hard time over this situation?
Yes, because you know how she is...plus...being here means I don't have to be alone with my thoughts. I don't have to think about him all the time.
Apparently it's not working.
She sighed then let out a small chuckle. You know at first I couldn't stand his chattering, heck, I have witnessed both Rodan and Methuselah falling asleep when he would talk about the "good old days," but after a while, just listening to him talking about the past and the stuff he saw and experience was quite relaxing to my hearing. It would be so soothing like hearing the breeze against the trees or the gentle waves in the ocean. His stories were always positive and full of life and you just feel great for the rest of the day. Even when we talk about the painful memories we don't want to visit, his reassurance and support just make everything better, like a huge weight was lifted off your shoulders….She frowned,...I miss his voice…I miss listening to that "annoying" chattering…
There was dead silence between them only to be interrupted by Azure popping his head out once again in an attempt to scare her and his mother. Mosura giggled from hearing her hatchling's high, squeaky roar….she on the other hand pushed him down underwater again with his tentacle so she could continue her conversation. I don't understand….She said, trailing up on the last word.
Don't understand what? Mosura asked.
I don't know….why I'm feeling this way….
It's simple, my friend….he meant more to you than you thought.
She stared at the water, seeing the little bubbles coming up from where the Little Prince was and closed her eyes. Perhaps…
Then the solution will be to go over there and tell him….Mosura said as a matter of fact.
It's too late for that….the way I left him, even I wouldn't talk to myself ever again.
But…
She sank underwater before Mosura could finish her sentence and hoped her friend would take the hint it was her way to end their discussion.
0000000000
(The next day)
She woke up from her nap by someone shaking her shell with brute force only to look up to see Dear King looking down at her with his moody face. She yawned, already expecting him to nag her about going home because they can't stand being around each other for a long period of time, but instead he just whispered two words to her.
Play along….He said, while gesturing his head over at Mosura who was having some "cuddle time" with Azure in the shallow part of the ocean.
The day was hot and humid which was a nuisance to Mosura so she was spending her day cooling herself down in the ocean while bonding with her little one. Like so many kaijus, it seems like Azure will only calm down his fussiness whenever it is just him and his mother alone. Like so many hatchlings she gave birth too, bonding was a very important method between parent and child. A way to trade scents to keep track of one another and show the little hatchling who was his mother and Sire. She can tell Azure was taking in all his mother's features by the way he would slightly grip her furry cheeks and stare deep into her blue eyes. No doubt noticing they have that in common, but also noticing what they don't. Mosura fluttered her wings above them while brightening her amazing colors. That really grabbed Azure's attention and for a split second he turned his head as much as he could to eye his back. As if wondering where his set of wings were at.
She smiled then looked back at Dear King. Whatever you are thinking, don't ruin their bonding time. She said.
He grumbled and gave her a firm look. Just play along and stop asking questions.
She sighed and watched as Dear King approached her friend with a sudden relaxing face. Mosura looked up at him with a smile while Azure took the time to splash around in the water. Did you enjoy your morning swim, my King? She asked.
He nodded before letting out a small snort. It has comes to my attention that you never had some alone time to yourself lately. He said.
Confused, she chuckled, What do you mean?
What did he mean, she thought, but didn't want to ask him out loud. Wagging his tail, he continued, You haven't left the island since Azure was born and I know you don't want to let him out of your sight, but you need a break sometimes.
I do get breaks thanks to you and Scylla.
Yes, that is true, but an actual break to go do something by yourself. You let me go out for some "Me-time" so why not do the same.
First of all, I only do that because if you didn't I have a feeling you and Scylla are going to kill each other….right Scylla?
They turned their attention to her, which she smiled nervously before clearing her throat. Can't really disagree on that, but Dear King has a point, my friend. A little time for yourself will surely brighten your day and rest you up as well.
Oh Scylla, don't agree with my King. She giggled, Besides, there is no way I could leave my Little Prince behind. She said, kissing the back of Azure's head which he let out a playful growl.
I'm perfectly capable of watching the little brat so I'm not going to repeat myself. Go take a break and get off this island for a while. He said, in a slight demanding tone.
Mosura couldn't help, but smile. Well, if you insist, a nice fly around the world does sound wonderful. A good way to stretch out my wings. She said, jumping up into the air so she can be at eye level with her King. Please try to get along with each other. She pleaded.
Her friend let out a small giggle when she and Dear King rolled their eyes from her statement. Just go and have a good time. He said.
Alright, I'll be back before sunset unless you need me to return sooner?
Just go, Mosura, we will be fine. She said, with a sure smile.
She flew up a little higher, Oh, don't feed Azure those weird shrimp critters, last time he did it gave him an upset stomach.
Riiight. Dear King said, sarcastically while waving her off with his claws.
And if he gets fussy I've noticed gnawing on something helps him calm down….
I'm sure Dear King's tail or a tree will do the trick, now have fun, Mosura. She said, getting a little too eager about what the King had planned when her friend leaves.
She flew up higher only to look back once again. Also he hasn't taken a nap yet, normally singing to him does the trick unless someone else has any other suggestions?
I'll just let Scylla talk to him again, that seems to knock him out cold. Dear King said, smiling. Now go, we got this covered.
She started to fly off only to turn back around...again. Oh and also-
GO! She and Dear King shouted.
Love you guys. She said, before flying off for real this time.
Once those colorful wings were out of sight, she looked up at Dear King who seemed deep in thoughts. So what's the real reason you wanted her to leave? She asked.
Follow me. He said, walking over to Azure to pick him up with his claws. The hatchling protested for a bit while trying to get comfortable in his Sire's hold.
Where are we going? She asked. And why should I?
Will you stop fighting me for once in your life and just follow me. He said.
Unsure, but did what she was told. After all he may be her best friend's mate, but he was still her Alpha. With that in mind, she followed him as he disappeared underwater. They stayed quiet as they went deeper and deeper underwater to the point there was very little light. It wasn't till her legs touched the soft sands of the ground when he finally stopped and let Azure go so he could swim around and explore. Dear King stood in front of her while keeping his eye on the little Prince.
Don't go out too far and stay away from larger creatures, understand? He asked.
Azure nodded while floating upside down to get a laugh out of his Sire. Good Luck with that little one. It's very hard to get the King to smile or laugh. He snorted bubbles in Azure's face and the little Prince took off to leave them alone.
Are you sure he's going to be alright by himself? She asked.
He needs to learn how to fend for himself sooner or later. Last thing I want is Mosura babying him to the point he can't be independent.
I see….so why are we down here?
It's the only place I can guarantee total privacy since I have a feeling Mosura is not going to stay away long enough for us to talk. She can't talk underwater like you and I can. He said, while letting his plates glow to give them some light and to make sure Azure was nearby at all times.
Look is this about me overstaying my welcome again, I'm sorry, but I really need to be around Mosura for a while since I'm going through some things.
Don't start that "Going through things" bullshit! He snapped. It's a simple fact, you were being a Stupid Squid like always and let something that made you happy go and now you don't know how to handle the consequences.
How could you say it's that simple! And no I wasn't being a "Stupid Squid" so don't talk to me like that. She snapped back. Why are you giving me crap, this is something you will never understand.
He looked at her firmly. You truly think I wouldn't understand. How long have you known me?
Why do you care? All this is just fun and games to you. You said it yourself you didn't want to get involved.
Because I'm tired of having you around my home all the time and listening to you whine and bitch about how sad you are for hurting the Chatterbox. Look I really don't care what is going on between you two, but it's annoying the hell out of me and stressing out my Queen because she has no clue how to make you feel better. Oh, and one more thing, I don't like you using my son as some sort of crutch because you can't deal with your problems.
Like I said you wouldn't understand. She said, taking a few steps back. The movement of her legs made some of the sand come up and form a thick fog.
The King rolled his eyes. Do you like the guy? He asked.
She blushed, I'm not discussing this with you.
Do you like the guy? He asked again, but firmer.
It's not that easy to say.
Yes it is. Now answer the fucking question: Do you like the guy or not!?
Raising your voice is not going to make me speak. She said, looking away.
SCYLLA!? He shouted.
She felt a powerful pulse coming from him with his plates glowing bright and making the water around them hot. The force made all the sea creatures swim off and Azure to stop swimming around and left floating there. Good thing they were underwater or else who knows how much damage he could've done on land. All went quiet and she lowered her head while feeling her tentacles curl up from the tension she was feeling from Dear King's staring. I don't like him…..She said, before finally saying what's been nagging her ever since she left Behemoth heartbroken in the rain….I think I'm in love with him….There she said, out loud and in front of someone no less. She finally did it, she went against everything in her nature and fell for a male for the first time in her entire life.
It's about time you said it. If you weren't you wouldn't be feeling bad about hurting his feelings in the first place. Now how about you do us all a favor and go tell him before it's too late.
It would never work out we are too different and I'm not even talking about personality wise either. I literally screamed at him about it and told him I never want to see him again.
This might come as a shock to you, but you do know Mosura and I are different right?
She narrowed her eyes at him. Really, I'm pouring out my thoughts and feelings and you're going to be a smartass about it, you Fat Lizard.
You damn right I will be, you Stupid Squid. He said, snorting bubbles. So don't tell me I wouldn't understand. You heard the story straight from Mosura's mouth. How she confessed her love for me way before you and I met and I didn't take it well. I was thinking just like you were, fuck, I did the same thing you did. She was tending to my wounds and next thing I knew I made a move on her and she took that opportunity to tell me she was in love with me and well, you know the rest.
You mean when you ran away and I found my friend in a crying mess.
Now his eyes narrow from her smartass remake. My, my how the tables have turned and he didn't like it one bit. Yes, because the same things crossed my mind as well. How could she love me, we are too different not just personality wise, but different species as well. There was no way it was going to work because of that. It went against everything in nature. Well, Fuck nature, I think, if I went by my Kind's instincts I would've went back to my old clan, take control as the lead Alpha and mate with the strongest female, but the thought of that made me sick. Kaiju knows I couldn't stand my own Kind and never found any female appealing till Mosura came along.
His eyes shifted over to Azure for a moment to make sure he was still close by. The little one was in his own world again with him watching crab-like creatures on the floor before grabbing them for a crunchy snack. She turned her attention back to Dear King as he settled down on the soft ground before continuing.
You know, I never told Mosura this, but it wasn't till I got slapped in the face by my Late-friend to realize with an Asshole I was for rejecting her that way. He told me I should be happy to have someone like her, so kind and gentle, to have feelings for someone like me and that I shouldn't push this chance of happiness away. Hearing him say those things to me, it felt like something finally clicked and I didn't care anymore what others or nature would think, I just knew I was happier when she was around, but unfortunately the day I realized that was the same day she didn't want nothing to do with me. I spent the next decade or so lost, alone and regretting letting her slip through my claws. Is that what you want to do for the next ten years? Go through the same shit as I did?
She shook her head, stunned from his speech and even more so for the fact that he was right.
Then stop making excuses and go over there and settle things with him. He said in a demanding sort of way.
She stared at the sand and the little sea creatures crawling around her. What makes you so sure he will talk to me, let alone take me back.
I'm not, but whether the outcome is bad or good, you can move on knowing you tried to fix things….plus it might help if you grovel at his feet. Good nature Kaijus love that sappy, romantic stuff.
Did you grovel at Mosura's feet when you asked her to stay with you. She asked, slyly.
Stop acting clueless, I know she told you about that day when I proposed.
She did, but it would be nicer to hear it from you face to face.
He growled, making bubbles spill out of his mouth. Will you please leave my turf now while I'm still in a good mood.
She smiled and did something she never thought she would do in a million years. She jumped up, letting her body float towards him, and gave him a soft "thank you" nuzzle on his face. Caught off guard from her sudden affection, he pushed her away before she could kiss his cheek. Knock it off and get out of here! He said, embarrassed by her actions.
Alight since you asked nicely. She said, swimming passed him only to look back. I'm not saying this as a bad thing, but this is not like you to help me out…
He stared at her for a moment like he was debating whether to say what was on his mind. Remember that day when everything that happened between Mosura and….the bird was exposed and you risk your life protecting her egg from me…?
Yes, not something you can forget anytime soon...She said, frowning.
Well, let's just say I owe you for doing that because part of me at that moment would've gone through with it.
I had a feeling you would and here I thought you would never do such a thing to her, but on the other hand she did things I never thought she would do to you. He turned away while crossing his arms and that was his sign telling her he didn't want to talk about that particular subject anymore. Which she understands. Thank you...She said in a soft voice.
And don't tell Mosura we had this little discussion or else she will never let me live it down. He said, rubbing the spot on his cheek she touched with his palm.
She nodded. Tell her I'll talk to her later. She said, while giving Azure a pat on his head before taking off to Behemoth's home.
With her mind racing and heart pumping, part of her couldn't wait to see him and tell him how she truly felt, but as she got closer to her destination, her nerves were getting to her and she began to wonder if it was too late or not.
0000000000
~Here we are, face to face
With the memories that can't be erased.
Although we need each other, things have changed.
It's not the same
Sometimes it makes me wonder
Where would I be if you hadn't discovered,
Reaching deep inside of me?
I know there something
That we could compare…~
When she made it to Behemoth's home, she was sad to see that he wasn't around and neither was Rodan...not that he matter, but where he was at, she was sure to find the Sloth as well. She had to think, if they weren't here in the nesting spot, the other choice would be Methuselah's land. Not wasting time to overthink the situation, she took off in the direction Behemoth would take to get to the rocky kaiju's home. Not even caring she was running as fast as she could and causing disturbance around the forest with earthquake-style steps and making all the land creatures run away from her. She just had to find him before he was around company because something like this should only be between them. It took awhile and although she was tiring herself out, she saw a tiny brown dot far ahead of her getting bigger and bigger as she got closer. Behemoth was on his way to Methuselah since his back was turned and walking. She could hear his voice chatting away and was disappointed to hear Rodan's voice responding back and their mixed laugher. Darn it, she was hoping he was alone and thought about turning back till….
Behemoth! Wait! She shouted before she could stop herself.
As she got closer, the Sloth stopped dead in his tracks and Rodan's head appeared behind the massive kaiju, looking back to see who the voice belonged to. His yellow eyes grew wide and said something to Behemoth. She could literally see his back muscles tensing up from knowing she was close by and getting closer by the second.
Please wait! She cried out again.
She skidded to a halt when she was only a wing-length away from him. A good amount of space since she didn't know how he would react seeing her in person again. Out of breath to a point of breathing hard and wildly, she waited and watched him slowly turn around to face her and there he was in all his Gentle Giant glory. Rodan was standing on his right tusk with this blank look on his face. She hasn't seen him in months so she took a moment to memorize his features again. Everything from his coarse, brown fur, to the worn-out, vine-covered tusks, and ending with his strong arms and polished claws. Everything was the same as it should be. The only thing that was different was his face...he didn't look so happy to see her and to her that was a bad sign and a huge reason to turn around and leave, but….
Miss Scylla….this is a surprise? Behemoth said, in a sad voice.
She had her entire speech worded out in her mind, but with him just standing there in front of her her mind went blank and she didn't know what to say. In fact the first thing out of her mouth sounded rather rude. Is there any chance Rodan can leave for a bit. She asked, a little breathless.
Although Behemoth didn't react to her request, (probably not surprised since he knew she and the firebird didn't get along) Rodan however did. Really? You don't show your stupid ass-
Rodan- Behemoth warned.
-you don't show your face around here for months and that's the first thing that comes out of your mouth! He asked, offended.
Ignoring him, she kept her focus on Behemoth, Please, I really need to talk to you?
His eyes gave her a gentle, but tired look. Well, I'm sorry, Miss Scylla,…(Miss Scylla, not my Dear, not my Sweet, but by her name and that actually hurt in her opinion)...but as you can see, Rodan and I have plans to see Methuselah for some "Male Bonding" time.
In other words I need to get myself in better shape before paying a certain Parasite a visit. Rodan muttered to himself.
Yeah, and I hope she kicks you between the legs again, but that beside the point. She said, without missing a beat with Rodan gave her the "Stuck-up Bitch" look.
Then as you can see, we don't want to be late so I don't have time to talk. Behemoth said as calmly as possible, it was almost scary.
Although he said it politely it still felt very cold to her. Her guess is that he didn't want to show how hurt he was or his way of showing how angry he was towards her. And with that, without even saying good-bye, he turned around and started to walk away. Dumbfounded from his rudeness,(even Rodan looked a little stun from his actions) she took a few steps forwards and pleaded, Please…
He stopped and took a deep breath and didn't even look at her. Miss Scylla, I am a Gentlemale and I treat everyone with the utmost kindness and respect, but that doesn't make me foolish or someone you can walk on. He said, and continued his way away from her.
She couldn't believe it, he was actually walking away from her just like that. Bad karma on her part when she thought about it since she did the same exact thing that night when he told her how he felt. So this is what that type of hurt felt like she thought before considering just giving up and going home, but her stupid heart had other plans.
~Well, I never meant to cause you no pain
I just wanna go back to being the same
And I only wanna make things right
Before you walk out of my life…~
I….She whispered at first, feeling her throat restricting. She closed her eyes and shouted. I LOVE YOU!
She could hear him stopping once again, but she was too afraid to open her eyes to see his reaction. Instead, she lowered her head while squeezing her eyes even tighter. And it took….a Dear King to make me realize what a... (trying to keep her eyes from watering)...."Stupid Squid" I was for letting you go.
When all she got was dead silence, she looked up and opened her eyes to see Behemoth staring at her in complete shock and Rodan's eyes wide open with his jaw dropped. Rodan cleared his throat, Ok, perhaps I should leave.
Behemoth shook his head, No, Rodan, you don't have to leave plus I don't want you to go either.
But- Rodan whispered, but was interrupted by the Sloth.
You don't mean that, Scylla. You made it very clear you didn't have them so what makes you so sure you changed your mind.
I'm...I'm not sure because feeling this way is still new to me. Never in my life have I had to deal with something like this when it comes to a male, but I can't stop thinking about you. Even when we first started seeing each other, even after telling myself over and over again that I needed to end it, when I'm all alone it was only you I thought about. I would think about all the stuff we would talk about. How you would always make me laugh and let me speak my mind no matter how dark it was and compelling me to see you once again. My goodness, Behemoth, I thought the longer I was away from you the quicker it would be to forget about you, but I couldn't, it just made me miss you more and made me realize how much you meant to me.
He huffed, Why didn't you say that to me before? It's been months….if you had came back the next day after rejecting my proposal, it would've been more understandable.
I was afraid! She said rather quickly, And confused and I was so rude to you because I didn't know how else to react to this. All you ever did was try to make me feel comfortable and waited patiently enough for me to figure things out and all I did was push you away and I'm sorry for that. I'm sorry for everything. I never meant to cause you so much pain….
Behemoth shook his head before looking away from her while nearly throwing Rodan off his tusk. Well you did so I don't know what you want me to say. He said, quietly.
She swallowed and took a few steps closer to him and was glad he didn't move. I want to fix my mistake, I want to go back to the way it was before, if I have to grovel I will, even in front of him (nudging her head at Rodan). I love you, Behemoth so please ask me again.
That made his legs and arms buckle from her words. Scylla…
~Remembering the good times
From the portrait hung on high
It's filled with so much color
And the laughter we left behind
I made a choice when you couldn't decide.
I made the choice, I was wrong you were right
Deep down inside
I apologize...~
She took a few steps closer till she was close enough to feel the heat coming off of Rodan and that earthy scent of Behemoth's fur. Oh how she missed that wonderful dirt smell. Ask me again, please and I promise things will be different, I won't pull away, I will stop second guessing things because this is what I want. I just want to be with you. So please, ask me again. I love you. This time she said it while looking deep into those eyes, trying to find something that will tell her he still had feelings for her. He was a very forgiving kaiju so why did she feel like nothing she was saying was working.
All went quiet between them with her waiting for him to say something. The only noise she could hear was little birds flying by and the crackle sounds of Rodan's embers floating down from his wings. Even the bird was holding his breath while waiting for Behemoth to say something.
He cleared his throat. Miss Scylla, it's nice to know you're finally sure about how you feel towards me and make no mistakes, my love for you will never change and I will never hold resentment towards you for running off like you did, but…
The but, why, oh why must there be a but after that statement. She thought.
...I can't put myself through that heartbreak again. I don't want to get in too deep with you while fearing you might change your mind about me again. The whole entire time we were seeing each other, you pretty much told me you were compelled to see me thanks to my companion's nagging talent and finding different ways to let me down and was always so unsure and uncomfortable with me. How will I know you're not going to go through that again?
Now her eyes started to water, Behemoth…
I'm sorry, Miss Scylla, but Rodan and I have another place to be for now. Perhaps later in life we can become friends, but right now, we need to get going. Right Rodan? He asked.
Well yeah...I guess-
He didn't give the firebird time to finish his sentence before turning his back on her and started to walk away. It was nice seeing you again, Miss Scylla. He said, quietly.
He didn't bother to look back, in fact she was surprised to see Rodan looking back instead with this unsure look on his face. Her vision started to blur even worse so she turned around so the bird wouldn't see the tears spilling from her eyes and headed back to the beach.

~Never meant to cause you no pain
I just wanna go back to being the same
Well, I only wanna make things right
Before you walk out of my life
Well, I never meant to cause you no pain
I just wanna go back to being the same
Weill, I only wanna make things right
Before you walk out of my life…~
What was that all about? Rodan asked, looking up at him.
He felt like he couldn't breathe and couldn't believe it himself. Is she following us?
No, she left as soon as you did. His friend said, Are you alright?
Yes, I'm perfectly alright.
Why don't I believe you? Rodan said, tapping his tusk with his claws.
I don't want to get hurt again, Rodan. He said, frowning.
The fact that she came all this way to tell you how she feels must mean something. Rodan said, looking back again to make sure she wasn't following.
His chest started to hurt from trying to breathe. If I didn't know better I think you're trying to convince me to give her another chance. He said.
Behemoth, for months I would watch you stare out at the ocean hoping she would come back and tell you what a big mistake it was to leave. Trust me, I know that look and staring from everywhere because I did it so many times before except it was the Sky I would be looking up at. And now that she did, you're just going to walk away?
Just see this as closure now I can move on and be alright. He said. Though it felt like he was lying to himself and Rodan.
I don't know about that since your speed walking is slowing down and your eyes keep shifting back to see if you should turn around or not. You and I both know you'll regret it if you don't.
He came to a complete stop and just stood there. Rodan was right, for so long he would hope beyond hope she would come back and tell him how wrong she was and tell him she loved him just as much as he loved her. But as the weeks went by followed by months, he was so sure she forgot about him and moved on with her life. Then out of the blue she comes back and wants him to propose to her once again and doesn't know how to react to it. All he felt was the hurt she caused from that night in the rain. She seemed so sure of herself this time. Like she really meant it when she said she loved me….
And you still love her, right? Rodan asked slowly like he was stupid.
He sighed, I do. I still love her.
Rodan shrugged and said dully, Then I don't know why you're not going after her and I don't even like her.
Well, she thinks you're a waste of space, so I don't think she cares what you think of her. Behemoth said, turning around so quickly, Rodan had to grab hold of his tusk to hang on. His Kind was not built for running and it's even worse when you're old, but that didn't stop him from speeding down the path that Scylla took to find him. He could literally hear his bones popping and muscles he hasn't used in a long time tearing, but he was determined to get to her before she disappeared into the water. He was sure he could move faster if it wasn't for Rodan hanging on his tusk for dear life, but he was too distracted to complain about it. Plus, most likely the fire demon was not going to miss drama like this.
Geez, Behemoth I didn't know you can run this fast. He shouted.
It was a good thing he wasn't too far from the ocean because he didn't think he could keep up with all this running, but sure enough he made it home only to find Scylla gone. He looked down at the ground to see her footprints leading to the water and realized it was too late. Breathing hard from the running, he stood there without a clue what to do.
Damn, she didn't waste time getting out of here. Rodan said.
What am I going to do? There was no way she will be coming back...not after what happened. He said, gritting his teeth.
I could fly after her if you wan-
He didn't give Rodan time to finish as he sprinted towards the water, creating large splashes and waves.
What are you doing?! Rodan shouted, getting water all over him. The sounds of his body sizzling thanks to the water could be heard and he flew up into the air to avoid the pain.
She couldn't have gotten far, I'm going after her. He said, going deeper and deeper into the ocean.
My friend, you can't swim and you hate being in there! Rodan shouted from above.
~So I'll make plans with you
To always have time for you
Before you walk out of my life.
I guess it's true,
Can not live without you.
Don't ever go away
Oh yeah…~
He slipped, sending him under before he could hold his breath. He opened his eyes and through his blurry vision he swished his head around in hopes to spot a large black dot on the ground. He could hear Rodan shouting though it was muffle from the water. He pushed himself up to the surface to take a deep breath and try to shake his wet fur out of his eyes.
Behemoth, for the love of Kaiju, turn back! Rodan screamed.
He didn't listen and continued to push forward till he could no longer feel the ground beneath his feet. He tried to peddle to keep him up float, but the weight of his wet fur started to make him sink again. I can't lose her again, He said while trying to hold his head up high. I have to learn how to swim sooner or lat-
He sank back underwater and tired to push himself up to get some air, but it was no use. He thought about the King and how he was able to swim with his large mass and size, but the King had his advantage because he can breathe underwater so he didn't have to worry about drowning like he was doing now. He suddenly felt someone diving in and something sharp grabbing the loose skin on his back. It pierced his flesh and could see his blood floating around him. He turned his head to see it was Rodan's talons gripping his back and struggling to pull him back to the shallow part of the ocean. He didn't know what was worse: losing oxygen or having nails embedded deep in his skin. Either way, he needed to get out so he could breathe so he tried to walk backwards to help Rodan out, but couldn't get a strong grip on the sand with his feet. He slipped again, but this time brought his companion down with him. Rodan didn't waste time flapping his wings hysterically to get himself out of the water while still holding on to his back. He couldn't hold his breath any more and let it out in large bubbles and was about to tell Rodan to save himself and not worry about him when he felt something hitting him directly in his chest.
His eyes snapped open and could see the blurry black dot burying itself into his chest and using all of its strength to push him back. With that and Rodan's help, he was pushed far enough to set his footing down on the ground and lift his head out of the water to inhale much needed air. Rodan collapsed right on his back from exhaustion. You are very heavy. He said, panting.
Still neck deep in the water, he was about to respond to that when something grabbed hold of his facial fur and tugged his head forward to see a very upset Scylla right in his face. What in the world were you doing!? You could've drown! She screamed.
That's what I said too. Rodan said in a tired voice.
Shut up, Rodan! She screamed.
ShUt Up, RoDaN! He said in a mocking imitation of her voice before picking himself up so he can fly away to give them space.
He wanted to say something, but was too busy coughing up water till he could feel one of her tentacles wiping his fur out of his eyes so he could finally look at her. She had that same look just like the first time he saw her in the rain. Sad and in pain from what she did. Weather it was from her destroying cities to breaking his heart. Either way to him she was still beautiful even when she was sad. Oh how he missed being so close to her that he didn't waste time grabbing her shell to pull her closer to him. He could feel her face burying deep into his fur with her tentacles curling around his tusk and he leaned down to kiss her forehead before pressing his against it.
I'm sorry. She cried while nuzzling foreheads together. I shouldn't have pushed you away.
It's OK, my Dear, and here I thought you never wanted to see me again.
I was wrong. She said, her voice constricting due to her trying so hard not to cry. Please forgive me.
Of course I will, but I just need one thing from you before I do. He said, pulling her closer to him if that was even possible.
She pulled away so she could look at him and their eyes locked. Anything. She said, with tears coming down her face.
Now now, no need to cry, my Sweet, it's only a simple request. He said, smiling softly at her. I just want to hear you say those three little words again to make sure I wasn't imagining it.
She giggled, but the tears kept coming so she buried her face in his fur around his neck once again to hide them. I love you, Behemoth.
With gentle waves crashing into them, he rested his chin on top of her head and whispered, I love you too, my Dear, may I court you? He asked. Though he was a little nervous she might say no or would want to take things slow again, he didn't care, as long as she said yes, he will wait forever for her because she was worth it. She took a deep breath and whispered back one single word...
Yes…
~Well I never meant to cause you no pain
I just wanna go back to being the same.
Well, I only wanna make things right.
Before you walk out of my life.
Before you walk out of my life.~

MQB: Well, that's all my Dear Readers, I hope you like it as much as I did. You'll see more of the relationship growing in later stories in case you felt like the ending wasn't romantic enough. I didn't want to overdo it since that wouldn't go along with their characters. Anyway, stay tune for my next story which was inspired due to so many, many, requests after reading "Boiling Point":
Redrum: A dark tale staring our favorite foul mouth parasite. You'll get a glimpse of her pass while she search for her next victim due to boredom.
Also the other story I'm working on called "Tsunami" starring Gojira as he takes the young Prince around the world while remembering life-changing events he went through.
Stay wonderful Dear Readers, Please review.
