Tables Turn

Abhijeet leaned back on Dr. Salunkhe's office chair, brazenly staring at his girlfriend who stood opposite him, working on her report.

Ah!

The comfort of sitting in the old doctor's chair and talking to Tarika.

A playfully smug smile settled itself on his face.

With Dr. Salunkhe on leave and the case already solved, there was nothing to stop him from pottering around in the forensic lab… well, nothing other than a new case.

New cases - notorious for their bad timing. Abhijeet shook his head and then dismissing his thoughts, he resumed telling her about the climactic ending of the last case.

Still working on her report, she listened to him, nodding and taking occasional glances at his animated gestures.

"Pata hai Tarika ji," he continued in his excited tone, "Aaj bureau mein bhi bade mazey ki baat hui."

"Boys vs Girls"

"Aapko Shreya ne bata bhi diya?" he pouted, "Mere paas toh kuch bachta hi nahi hai aapko batane ke liye."

"Ab tum ladkiyo se bhi jalne lage?"

"Haan… aap bhi mazein lijiye."

He crossed his arms over his chest and looked away from her. He was like a little kid, easy to anger but just as easy to please.

"Lo tum toh bura maan gaye. Usne sirf itna bataya ki girls jeet gayi. Tum baaki baat bata doh."

"Mein kaha bura maana tha," he rolled his eyes, "Dekhiye game ke rules bohot simple the. Aap toh jaanti hain ki ACP sahab apne 2-3 ties ka box rakhtein hain apne cabin mein lock karke. Toh bas uss box ko bina pakde gaye churana tha. Jis team ne pehle churaya wo team jeet gayi."

"Phir," she said, stifling a giggle, "aap log haar kaise gaye?"

"Yahi toh baat hai Tarika ji. Ab humne badi mehnat se keys churaye aur Daya ko de diya ki cabin se ties ka box le aaye. Humne ACP sahab ko bhi distract kiya ye sochkar ki Daya keys la raha hai. Lekin hua yu ki yaha hum ACP sahab ko distract kar rahein hain aur waha Shreya Daya ko. Baato mein fasa kar usne keys Purvi ko de di aur uss Daya ko pata tak nahi laga."

Abhijeet finished with a rather audible snort, making Tarika burst into fits of uncontrolled laughter.

"Aap hass rahi hain! Iss Daya ne izzat ki dhajiyan uda di. Agar mein hota toh -"

"Agar aap hote toh?" She shot him a lopsided, almost coy smile, looking at him over her computer.

"Arre agar mein hota toh alert rehta, game pe concentrate karta. Uss mote, lovesick Daya ki tarah thodi -"

He stopped, mid-sentence when he felt her palm resting on the back of his hand. As he looked up at her, she leaned towards him, slightly exposing her cleavage.

Such lush, luscious breasts for such a dainty figure.

His eyes travelled along the line made by her breasts pressed together, till he was rather rudely stopped by the V shaped neck of her top.

"You don't have to stop," her tone was barely above a whisper yet completely audible in the quiet forensic lab.

Not waiting for his reply, she entwined her fingers with his and walked ahead, leading the way towards the records room.

Wait.

Was she… were they really going to… do it… here?

"T-Tarika," Abhijeet spoke, once they entered the dim-lit records room.

In response, she closed the door, kicking it with her heel. Next, placing her free hand on his shoulder, she pinned him against the wall, their chests colliding momentarily from the force she exerted. Her fingers that were entwined with his, held his palm open as she leaned towards him, biting her red lips oh-so-sensually. She then rubbed her hips against his, in a swift, teasing motion before pressing her breasts on his torso.

Abhijeet closed his eyes, gulping in anticipation. His lips quivered, waiting to meet hers.

But… the kiss never came!

All he felt was the weight of a few files in his palm. Quickly opening his eyes, he looked at the files in his hand and the shelf beside them, on which they were kept before and then back at the files. He shifted his gaze to Tarika, who stood there, smirking at him.

"Ye...ye...ye galat hai," he said, dangling the files.

"Bataya nahi tumne abhi tak, agar tum Daya ki jagah hote toh… ?"

"Haar hi jaata," he muttered, looking down.

But the very next moment, his face lit up and he grabbed her waist, grinning as he did so.

"But I deserve a consolation prize, don't I, Tarika ji?"

She just placed her hands on his chest and pushed him away.

"Ye files proofread kar dena please, kal subah chahiye. Mein Shreya aur Purvi ke saath bahar jaa rahi hu girls ki jeet celebrate karne."

He stomped off to her workspace, still unable to believe the turn of events.

"Ladkiya!" He said.

As he walked to the parking lot, after finishing all his work for the day, his phone beeped. It was Tarika's text.

"Consolation prize lene nahi aaoge? *Kiss emoji* " it said.

"Ladkiya!" he said, smiling stupidly.
