That was the best night he'd had in weeks. He actually managed to get more than a few hours sleep. Greg sighed, lying in his bed, as he thought about needing to get up, for work again. He huffed once more before throwing the sheet off his stomach and pushing himself up. He grimaced as his leg ached a little but eventually got up completely and managed to walk to the bathroom. However, as he stood, using the bathroom, he screwed his eyes up when the ache turned into excruciating pain. After he'd finished, he moved across his bathroom floor, shuffling his feet, and removed his boxers before jumping in the shower.
He turned the water on as hot as it would go and relished in the relief it brought his leg. It wasn't a lot, but it was enough to sooth it slightly. He spent a good quarter of an hour in the shower before heading back to his bedroom and getting dressed. When he walked slowly through to his kitchen, to grab something to eat, someone knocked on his door.
Frowning at who could be calling at this time, he hesitantly opened the door. "Nick, what are you doing here?" He asked confused when his friend stood in front of him.
"You don't think I was going to let you drive to work this morning did you?" He said with a smile as he walked past Greg and into his apartment.
Greg shut the door and followed Nick to his kitchen. "You had breakfast yet?" Nick asked him as he looked in Greg's fridge.
"No, I was just about to have something." Greg told him.
Nick shut the fridge door and smiled. "Great, we'll go out, and you can buy." He added as he patted his shoulder with a wink.
They walked out of Greg's apartment and Greg tried his best to hide the pain he was in. He'd planned on grabbing some pain killers or whatever he had in his draw in his kitchen before leaving for work, but now Nick had arrived he couldn't.
As they were going down the stairs, Nick looked back to see Greg struggling down the stairs, just like he had when he'd gone up them. He was taking them one at a time and panting out of breath. "Hey put your arm over my shoulders, man." Nick said as he walked a few steps up to his friend.
Greg flicked his eyes up to him and wrapped his arm around Nick. He hobbled down the rest of the stairs with Nick's help and then to Nick's Denali. When they were inside, Nick spoke up, "You think maybe you need that wheelchair again?"
Greg licked his lips. "No. I don't need it."
Nick nodded and it was clear that he disagreed, but he didn't argue.

"Nice to have you back with us in the field Greg." Russell told him before handing out their cases.
"Morgan, here's yours. Nick, Sara, this is for you both, Catherine, yours and Greg, you're with me." Russell said as he handed out their slips. "Right, let's go people."
As Russell and Greg walked to Russell's truck, he spoke up. "You up for this?"
Greg looked over to him and smiled. "Yeah, I'm glad to be back out here."
Russell smiled back. "Alright, then let's get going." He said, lifting his case into the trunk.

They'd been at their scene for just over an hour and Russell had just glanced up to look at Greg but saw him quickly stumbling under the crime scene tape. He stood up and walked over and pulled a face when he heard, and saw, Greg puking onto the ground, hands resting on his knees.
"Hey buddy, you alright?" Russell asked as he lifted the tape to go under it.
Greg glanced around to look at him and nodded. "Yeah, sorry I just need a minute." He told him as he turned back around and threw up a little more.
Russell stood with him and waited with him. "You want to go home?"
Greg stood up and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. "No, I'm fine. Please don't tell Ecklie, because he'll have my ass if he finds out." He begged.
"Greg, if you need a day off, he can't get mad. It's your first day back at a scene and it's alright if you need some time to adjust." Russell told him.
"Russell, I can do this." Greg told him before walking back under the tape to where he'd previously been working.
Russell nodded as he went by him and sighed. He watched as Greg walked with his limp and wondered exactly why he was throwing up in the first place. He guessed it was one of two things; the pain in his leg, or the fact that their case was a man, similar to Greg's age who had been shot, in the chest just like Greg. But he didn't know which one it was.

"Hey, how are you? I heard you were sick at your crime scene?" Catherine asked as Greg walked into the locker room.
Greg looked at her and went to his locker and opened it. "How do you know about that?" He asked her confused.
"Morgan told me." Catherine answered him.
Greg snorted. "I think that's pretty much everyone who knows about that now."
Catherine smiled. "We're only worried about you, you know that."
"Yeah I do," Greg told her with a smile of his own, "but I just hate not having any control over what people say about me. Everyone's conversations seem to revolve around me right now and I don't like it." he told her before walking out.

"Hey, were you planning on walking back to your apartment?" Nick asked as he pulled up his truck next to Greg, who was slowly walking down the road from the lab.
Greg stopped and turned to Nick, hanging out his window. "Yeah, why?"
"It's gonna' take you ages man." Nick told him.
Greg shrugged. "It won't take me that long; it's not that far."
Nick chuckled. "Yes it is. And at the rate you're walking, you're not gonna' get very far."
Greg shrugged once more, turned away from Nick and began walking again. "Hey Greg, wait! Get in, I'll drop you off." Nick shouted to him and rolled up to him again.
"No, I'll walk. I need some fresh air; I need to clear my head." Greg told him without stopping.
"But you're in pain" Nick argued. "You can't walk, you're limping."
"Nick, please just…" Greg sighed and rubbed his hand through his hair. He didn't finish his sentence, just started walking again.
Nick jumped out his truck and jogged up behind him. "Hey, come on; please let me take you home. It'll make me feel better knowing you actually got home. You're in no state to be walking all that way, man."
Greg sighed and turned around. He didn't do it for Nick, he did it because he was too tired and in too much pain.
They drove in silence all the way back to Greg's, and when they got there Greg got out and mumbled his thanks to Nick.
"Hey, you want to talk?" Nick asked him before he could walk far.
Greg turned his head to Nick and shook it. But Nick didn't pay attention to him and followed him up the steps.
