Chapter 3: Plans Of the Future:
Kirk sat back stunned at what he had learned from the files. Spock looked thoughtful or as close to it as he could. The files, the raw data complied compressed to easy to read forms, the manipulation by the Eugenics who had done all they could to change human history and indeed human DNA to their specifications, to hell with what GOD had in mind for the human race. What was more with the family trees of the Eugenics spread out before him he could see that McGivers related to the Eugenics and if not one of them she was a prime suspect.
The Enterprise was just outside range of Ceit Alpha Prime, and would wait there for Admiral Gordon to get there with his delegation. There were high security things that were deep cover and very few knew about, Kirk was one who knew of certain histories. I was one reason he disliked the Klingons so much, he had never met one he liked and doubted he ever will. The whole race was nothing but the castoff of humans and other peoples and one he wanted nothing to do with.
"Is my lieutenant one of these Eugenics?" Kirk asked Khan.
"Yes she is, a simple test will prove it, and she has the mark, as Joachim has seen it." Khan said. "You need to know that they are related to colonel Green, one who you loathe or should more than me, I was bringing world peace, World War Three never would have happened if I had stayed in power."
"Yes, some of his followers made it to Klingon space and now that whole area is nothing but pirates, thieves and murderers, you can't trust a Klingon." Kirk said. "And I doubt we would be where we are if you had remained in power."
"I can see at times into the infrared rage if I concentrate." Joachim said. "I don't do it often it gives me a headache."
"Joachim." Khan warned the younger man getting him back on track.
"Right, well the mark only shows up under infrared light, it is just below the right ear." Joachim said. "All the Eugenics and colonel Green's people were marked with it."
"It is up to you now captain." Khan said sitting back looking at Kirk keenly. "Your move, or will you continue to treat me as a criminal when I am nothing of the kind?"
"Fine, I will contact Starfleet, Admiral Thomas Gordon can be trusted." Kirk said. "I will put in a good word for you."
"Very well, but we stay here." Khan said. "Right on this cozy starship of yours, your food is very good."
"Thank you, and you don't have to pay for it if that is what you are worried about." Kirk said getting a little annoyed.
"I will accept it as repayment as to how I was treated centuries past, you understand?"
"You would not be charged for the food as you are guests now." McCoy said walking up, "and I worked damn hard to save your life I will not let you starve."
"Ah doctor for that what do I owe you?" Khan asked an honorable man.
"Live a good life, don't take over the galaxy." McCoy said, "take care of yourself."
"Words of wisdom from an old country doctor!" Khan laughed, "well, I don't want the galaxy, a world or two for us where we can live in peace, that is all I want."
Kirk had called admiral Gordon and by the strained look on his face, Gordon knew something was up. Kirk relayed what he had just learned and sent the files to Gordon and waited while Gordon read the files. Finally, he looked up and sighed, he really did not need this today. He never did like conspiracies and here was one staring him right in the face.
"I am going to set a conference." Gordon said. "In the meantime I want you to arrest that lieutenant of yours now, if you have not already."
"What of us?" Khan said. "What will you do with us?"
"Right now you are free, but it is best you stay with captain Kirk, Jim interrogate McGivers, find out what she knows."
"Yes sir." Kirk said.
This was how he found himself in the brig with McGivers who was sitting calmly awaiting her fate. Kirk wanted to know why she had done what she had, she was not trying to free the peoples of the Botany Bay but destroy them and he wanted to know why. That was why he took her back to the ready room where she trembled at seeing Spock. She knew what he could do but she was not going down without a fight.
"Why did you betray Starfleet?" Kirk asked her. "You can tell me or Mr. Spock will find out for us."
"They are impure." McGivers said knowing she had no choice. "For centuries we have waited to destroy them, they are impure."
"We are what we are because of your kind!" Khan snarled wishing to strike her. "We are not criminals, though some of my kind did kill when it was not necessary, I was good to the peoples under me!"
"So your people have waited for centuries to destroy them, but your kind created them, this makes no sense." Kirk said.
"They would not do what we wanted." McGivers said, "they were weak, lustful and would not follow orders, they had to be destroyed."
"Are you an Augment yourself?" Khan asked.
"No." McGivers said.
"Where are your true people from." Khan said, "You are not on humanities side are you? As savage as Kirk things me, I never did anything but for the betterment of mankind, that was what I was made for."
"What do you mean?" Kirk asked.
"Where are your people." Khan said walking up raising his hand to strike her but backing down at the last minute, "Mr. Spock make her talk."
"That would be a violation of her rights." Spock said.
"What do I care about her rights?" Khan snapped back. "She cared nothing for mine!"
"Very well, where are your people?" Spock asked.
"The gamma quadrant." McGivers said looking defeated.
"What of the gamma quadrant?" Spock said. "None in recent history has traveled there."
"The Dominion sees all, if these super humans survive the Dominion will destroy all."
"An excuse." Khan said. "You speak of vague things to justify hurting and harming and killing us!"
"The prophecy speaks if this!" McGivers said.
"Prophecies of a madman no doubt." Joachim said.
"So this goes further than earth." Spock said. "Fascinating."
At this moment Gordon called back with the news, the peoples of the Botany Bay were to be officially declared dead. However, in deep secrecy they would get a sector of their own to live in. All that had to be done was to come to a neutral star base and sign the treaty that would make this official. Khan spoke to his people and agreed to this, it was his chance to save his people and help them gain a new world, that and not have to deal with Kirk anymore as he was very annoying and clearly saw him as a savage, which he was not, Khan was good and did good things, what did Kirk do but travel the stars?
x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x
Ah Khan, he is very arrogant, but in his mind all he does is for mankind and saving mankind. He does not like how Kirk sees him and so they are not friends here, not yet that is. They will gain a sector of their own here of worlds not inhabited of course.
