Chapter 4 Point Nemo

July 22, 20? Point Nemo 11:00 AM Vladivostok time

Aboard a long-range transport aircraft, Shana, Khamsin, and Yuji are taken in the middle of the ocean, being escorted by KND squadrons along the way.

After miles of open ocean, Shana noticed a formation of four icebergs ships surrounding the exact coordinates of the area, surrounded by ships being closely guarded by the Pokemon around.

The Iceberg ships are huge and are constantly maintained by ice-type Pokemon all around, and in the middle of the iceberg formation is a portal connecting their world to the other world. It is four times more massive than the Nimitz-class carriers and are literally ice islands by themselves. Around the icebergs are eight Nimitz- class carriers guarded by four large Queen Elizabeth- esque class Battleships, 12 cruisers, and 22 destroyers.

The icebergs are positioned in such a way that they formed a pseudo-lagoon in the middle, with a mouth facing the south. They are anchored like icy islands lagoons in the sub-tropical seas, and the presence of such just flexes the capabilities of the Pokemon world when compared to their world.

The plane landed normally on the deck of the ship as if it lands in an 8 mile airstrip, and all of them, including several generals, ambassadors, and several other high officials from different nations and the KND, disembarked on the ships and are greeted by the men aboard the vessels.

Everyone felt the frigid atmosphere aboard the ship and began to feel cold, but some soldiers gave them fur coats. They are all led to the meeting room within the ship where they are tasked to meet the admiral.

"Admiral Bonaparte, these are the representatives from this world. Ladies and Gentlemen, Admiral Bonaparte of the Kalosian Navy."

Everyone shook their hands to the Admiral before they all sat in the large meeting room turned into a lecture room.

"So, I heard reports you wanted to learn more about the governance and structure of our world." The Admiral said. "It is this simple: our world revolves around Pokemon, and whoever controls them the best has power."

Someone is knocking on the door and four people came in, two male and two females. One of them removes the backpack behind him and said "Sorry for being late Admiral, we just finished studying the weird phenomena where Pokemon are no longer allowed to exit 800 kilometers from this area."

"Damn those trainer guilds…" the Admiral muttered silently. "Alright, take over."

"Hi." The professor said. "My name is Professor Willow, a professor soon to be assigned to study the habitats and distribution and interaction of Pokemon in this dimension. I just arrived here alongside my assistants, Spark, Blanche, and Candela. We are sent here mainly to study the impact of ecology on the release of Pokemon in this world, if it was even possible, without side-effects."

"You know what every environmentalist here would say." Shana then spoke in a mocking fashion. "Introduction of another alien species is bad to the environment."

"We know. However, as days go by, the areas by which Pokemon can even leave this area shrinks." Spark replied. "Which is part of the anomaly that we are studying."

"Before we start, are there any questions about our dimension?" Professor Willow asks, and everyone on the room raised their hands.

Shana was actually shocked on everything about the other world. The Pokemon World revolves around the history between Pokemon and humans, except in some desert area in what seems to be the Middle East, where the early history is abounded by regular animals for some reason, although they are indeed classified as normal types and can somehow live alongside Pokemon and their terrifying nature. Pokemon have been classified as sentient beings, but are somehow, only under the command of a human can they reach their full potential. Many religions are centered on this entire dynamic, and somehow, by sheer coincidence, have similarities to their world's religions, just with Pokemon incorporated (which seem to conclude the theory that ideas from the mysterious Middle Dimension have influence on both worlds), and history is different in that there was a massive global ancient war 3000 years ago like nothing else, only ending in the firing of a superweapon, and they have their world's version of WW2, but with a different set of alliances thanks to the establishment of the Trainer's Guild in 1916 (as WWI is actually the 3000 year war).

With their entire system based on having the best Pokemon unlock their potential, the Pokemon world runs on a Meritocratic system with high emphasis on healthcare on Pokemon and humans. Labor is very cheap and materials are easily produced, to the point that there is a saying "No War can come close to the war 3000 years ago, and WW2 is just a megalomaniac's attempt to remove Pokemon from the equation."

The reason why there is still a need of a regular military is because of the presence of 'extremists' propping up now and then, with Pokemon by their side capable of even sinking the very ship they are standing. Some of their ships are even infiltrated and stolen with entire stocks of aircraft because of Pokemon lulling the guards to sleep and making illusions.

Despite of all that, it was only in the recent 2 years that the Pokemon World even needed stealth and anti-stealth technology, thanks in part to a change in air doctrine (the previous doctrine is summed in the following statement: "Planes take care of planes and those hidden from radar, the Pokemon can hit anyway."). The involvement of the Organization of the Liberation of Ideas and their excessive use of BVR missiles (they only have within-visual range missiles) prompted a change of tactics, with the first fruit being the Alliance of the Eastern Islands Go-229 Stealth Fighter, which debuted during the Airwar over Dimmsdale.

Shana took down notes and listened more and more. Shana then heard something that made her curious.

"Well, perhaps it is actually best if some of you experienced what is like to live in our world, for two weeks, raising a Pokemon and taking the league of that region." Professor Willow said "You can go gym-to-gym in transport if you like. Maybe 12 people would be enough. Currently, we can only manage people below 20 years old…"

"The KND would like to take the challenge." Numbuh 362 remarked. "Just in time, because tomorrow, we would be electing the next KND Soopreme Leader. Whoever would be voted must first have experience on the other world before proceeding."

"Do you think we'll allow that easily, given your history?" The general of the US Air Force, 4 star general Malcolm Granger, immediately challenged the proposal.

"Well, technically, that disqualifies Bal Masque and the Flame Hazes." Shana said, knowing that the age limit already disqualifies them from participating.

"Well, except me." Yuji said, causing Shana to shun a glare at him.

"All the more needed for us to join, General Granger." Numbuh 362 said, moking the general. the General just snickered.

"Well, I cannot join without my wife with me." Yuji remarked, but Numbuh 362 shouted back at him.

"But you two aren't married yet!"

"Oh, right." Yuji said. Khamsin just gave a long sigh.

"We can arrange for that." Professor Willow said. "As for now, we are giving you guys time to decide your team of 12, then we can go through the portal three days from now."
