A/N: Hi! This is a little story I thought about. If people like it, I'm planning on possibly adding more chapters. Hope you enjoy and review and fave! *I don't own any of the Riordanverse*
- ONE - ANNABETH -
"Percy? I'm back!" Annabeth yelled, shutting the door to the Jackson apartment. She blew one of her curls out of her face as she juggled bags of groceries. She looked at the mound of blankets shuffling on the couch and smiled at herself. "Mmph." Percy muttered from under the covers before he erupted into a sneezing fit. Annabeth looked behind her to see Percy's head pop out from under the blankets, his hair messier than usual and his nose bright red. The Friday afternoon sun peeked through the windows, making Percy squint his green eyes as he looked towards the door, looking for his girlfriend.
"You're back!" He yelled in delight, flashing her a smile.
"Well hello Rudolph." She said, snickering at Percy who stuck his tongue out at her.
Percy was supposed to be on a trip to Montauk with Paul, Sally and Estelle, but the son of Poseidon had gotten the flu, which meant he was stuck at home. That also meant Annabeth was in charge of trying to make him feel better. Annabeth looked at the post it note that Sally had left on the fridge.
Annabeth, thank you so much for watching Percy for the next few days. You and I both know how dramatic he can be when he's sick. We'll be back by Monday afternoon, if you need anything don't be afraid to call. I left some blue cookies in the cookie jar for you guys to snack on and some money for you to get anything you need. 3 Sally.
"Did you finish the tea?" Annabeth asked, grabbing the snacks she had bought at the grocery and walking over to the couch. Percy nodded, blowing his nose into a tissue and proudly holding up his empty mug. Annabeth stood in front of him and the TV and smiled. Percy was sitting up, huddled under his blanket, looking like a burrito. His cheeks were flushed red and Annabeth couldn't help but think he looked cute like this. "Why are you staring at me?" He asked, rubbing his nose and scooting over to make room for her. Annabeth chuckled and placed the snacks on the coffee table.
"Because Seaweed Brain, you look cute." She said, plopping onto the couch next to him.
"Annabeth, I look like an absolute train wreck right now. Do you see what this flu has done to me? DO YOU SEE HOW PUFFY MY FACE IS?" He yelled, grabbing his cheeks. Annabeth clutched her stomach laughing at her boyfriend's dramatic acting.
"Seaweed Brain, quit being so dramatic. At least you're feeling better today." She said, pushing herself under the same blanket as him. Percy nodded, wiggling his nose, trying to relieve an itch that had formed.
"Do you want to take a nap?" Annabeth asked, looking at his sleepy eyes. She adjusted the pillow behind him and patted it, signaling for him to lie down.
"No." Percy firmly said, grabbing a drink of water. Annabeth raised her eyebrow at him. "You just got back from the shop! I want to cuddle." He said, sticking his arms out at her. Annabeth hesitated for a second, worrying that she'd get sick from him as well.
"Perce, you know I'd love to, but you're really sick." She said. Percy scrunched up his eyebrows in annoyance.
"Please! I promise I won't sneeze. Plus, I am feeling much better, especially now that you're here." He said, giving her a wink. Annabeth laughed at his attempt at being smooth, but shuffled into Percy's arms.
Annabeth felt Percy's chest rise and fall against her back as she got comfortable in his arms. This never gets old. She thought to herself, feeling the familiar warmth of being in his arms. Annabeth intertwined her hand with his as she looked at the TV, which was paused. She looked at the familiar clownfish on the screen and laughed, realizing what Percy had been watching. "Were you watching Nemo?" She asked, softly laughing. She jumped a bit as Percy poked her side.
"Yes. Yes I was. You know how much I love Nemo." He said, with a slight defensive tone. Annabeth let out a small giggle and nodded. Her boyfriend always loved watching Nemo, and he practically knew the entire movie by heart.
"I mean, we can watch something else if you want." He said, noticing her silence. Annabeth swiftly shook her head.
"No no, let's watch Nemo, come on, press play." She said. Percy smiled and clicked play on the remote. On the screen, Nemo and his friends swam around, looking up at the underside of the boat. "You know, you remind me of Nemo." Annabeth said. Percy looked at her confused. "How?" He asked, looking between the screen and her.
"You don't listen." Annabeth jokingly said, poking him. Though she wasn't looking at him, she could feel him rolling his eyes behind her head, but he laughed.
"Okay, okay don't attack the sick boy." He said, giving her a peck on the cheek.
O-O-O-O-O
A few moments later, Nemo was swimming up to the boat. "He's going to touch the butt!" One of his fish friends yelled. Both Annabeth and Percy snickered at this. "Hey Annabeth, hey, hey Wise Girl." Percy said, shaking her a little bit.
"Hmm?" Annabeth muttered, wondering what he was thinking about this time. Suddenly, she felt a hand touch her butt, which made her jump a little bit. "Percy!" She said in surprise, giving him a small smack on the arm. Percy laughed and poked her again.
"I touched the butt." He said, a cheeky smile forming on his face. Annabeth scrunched her eyebrows at him, but couldn't help and laugh at how proud he looked about that joke.
"Seaweed Brain, you ALWAYS touch the butt." Annabeth said, giving him a sly smile.
"Well that's because I like your butt." He said back, smirking at her. Annabeth was about to give him a kiss, before he pulled back, sat up and immediately started sneezing.
"Sorry! Sorry!" Percy apologized, blowing his nose in a tissue. Annabeth looked up at him as she lay on the couch, concerned for her boyfriend's health.
"Soooo how about that kiss?" He asked, turning back towards her. Annabeth put her hand on his face and pushed him away.
"Oh no. Seaweed Brain I would kiss you any other time, but you basically just sneezed your brains out." She said, sitting up on the couch and giving him a small smile. Percy pouted at her.
"Come on, come lie down, it's getting to your favorite part." Annabeth said, patting her lap.
Percy sighed and plopped his head down on her lap. "Curse this flu. I have the entire apartment to myself for the next few days and I can't even kiss my girlfriend." He said, still pouting. Annabeth ran her hand through his soft hair and chuckled under her breath.
"You can kiss me any other time Seaweed Brain. You get better, and I promise I'll give you lots of kisses." She said, giving him a kiss on the forehead. She saw a smile form on his face as they continued to watch the movie.
Some time passed as the two demigods relaxed on the couch. Annabeth was playing with Percy's hair, watching Percy slowly get sleepier as the sun set outside. His sniffles could be heard through the sound of Nemo playing on the TV as his mouth opened slightly to breathe. He really is such a dramatic baby. She thought, laughing in her head. "Hey Wise Girl look, it's Bruce." Percy said, pointing at the TV screen. Annabeth nodded and remembered the first time they watched Nemo together, with Percy yelling about how misunderstood sharks were. "Mmhm, I see." She whispered, moving her hand along Percy's back.
"You know, whenever I visit dad's palace, there's a shark there named Bruce that hangs around." Percy muttered.
Annabeth looked at him strange for a second but laughed. "So, you're telling me there's just a random shark named Bruce?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. Percy nodded and turned to look at her, that goofy smile of his plastered across his face.
"Yeah, he's a great white too, people find him scary, but he's actually pretty cool." He said, as if this was perfectly normal. Annabeth chuckled.
"I can never get used to you telling me about the random sharks that swim through your room when you're at your dad's palace you know." She said, shaking her head.
"Again! Sharks are misunderstood! The Bruce I know would never go insane over a drop of blood!" He complained, waving his hands in front of her face. Annabeth watched him go on about his thoughts about sharks and smiled down at him.
Though he was sick, his eyes still sparkled with enthusiasm. His nose scrunched up every now and then, trying to relive himself of the discomforts of having a blocked nose. It had been 6 years since they first met when they were 12, and there were things that still hadn't changed about him, such as the way he smiled or the way he waved his hands around when he was talking about something he loved. "Annabeth?" He asked, noticing her staring. Annabeth shook herself out of her own thoughts and looked down at him. Percy's look of confusion turned into a smirk. He poked her stomach with his finger.
"You were staring at me weren't you?" He teased, wiggling his eyebrows. Before Annabeth could reply, he interrupted her. "I know, I know, I'm gorgeous even when I'm sick." He said, closing his eyes and smiling.
Annabeth rolled her eyes. Of course she thought he was but it wasn't like she was going to say that. "No Seaweed Brain, you're just sick. Period." She said, smirking down at him. Percy opened his eyes and dropped his jaw, pretending to be offended.
"I truly am hurt Wise Girl. However, I remember when we were younger you saying something along the lines of me being cute… especially when I'm worried." He said, smiling at her. He remembers that. Annabeth thought, before laughing. She kissed him on the forehead, which made his smile grow brighter.
"Yeah alright, you are cute. Cute as can be." Annabeth said as Percy snuggled closer to her, wrapping her in a big hug.
O-O-O-O-O
30 minutes later…
As the movie finished, Annabeth looked out of the apartment window to see it had gotten dark. She sighed as she looked at Percy who had fallen asleep toward the end of the film. His head was rested on her lap, one of his arms tightly wrapped around her, using her as a pillow. She could hear his heavy breaths as his chest moved up and down along with his soft snores. I should make some dinner. She thought, slowly getting up so that he wouldn't wake up. Percy moved as she got up, pressing up against the sofa pillows. "Mmph." He groaned, opening his eyes. Annabeth pulled the covers over him once more. "Where are you going?" He asked in a husky voice. Annabeth crouched next to him.
"I'm going to make us some food. Go back to sleep, I'll wake you up in a bit." She said, pushing some hair out of his face.
Percy groaned in protest and stuck his arm out. "We can have dinner later!" He complained, blowing his nose in some tissue. Annabeth gave him a small smile. "Yes, we can have dinner later, but who's going to cook dinner Seaweed Brain?" She asked, which made Percy frown.
"Come on Wise Girl, 10 more minutes." He said, lifting up the blanket. Annabeth looked at him as he gave her his baby seal eyes.
"Are you really trying to give me your baby seal eyes right now?" She asked, as Percy still stared at her. He gave her a small nod. A few more seconds passed by before Annabeth sighed and nodded. "Fine, but you're not going to be complaining later when you're hungry." She said, pushing herself onto the couch.
Percy smiled and gave her a hug, putting his chin on top of her head. Annabeth wrapped her arms around him, enjoying his warmth. "I love you; you know that?" Percy asked. Annabeth nodded in his chest.
"Yes, I do Seaweed Brain, I love you too." She said.
"Thanks for taking care of me this weekend." He muttered into her hair, his hand rubbing her back. Annabeth smiled.
"Of course, you big baby." She said, giving him a kiss on the cheek. Yes, he was sick and sneezing, yes, she might get sick; but she was alright with that if it meant that they both could spend some time together, talking and laughing as if they had no other worries.
