- Two - Percy -
Percy groaned as the morning light shone into his room. He inhaled through his nose, expecting it to still be blocked, but smiled when he realized he was feeling better from the previous days. Slowly, he sat up in bed, letting out a big yawn while rubbing his eyes. "Well, good morning to you." A voice said.
Percy looked to his left to see Annabeth tying her hair up into a ponytail. Percy smiled, thinking she looked pretty in her hoodie and shorts; a sort of 'I just threw this outfit together last minute but still somehow look hot' way. "Good morning." Percy huskily said, his throat still slightly sore. Annabeth stood up and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"Are you going somewhere?" Percy asked, noticing the backpack slung over her shoulder. Annabeth nodded and leaned onto his bed.
"I'm going to go and pick up a few things, I'll be back by lunch." She said. Percy frowned at her. Why did she have to leave? They could have stayed in and just cuddled in bed or something.
"How do you feel?" Annabeth asked, grabbing his face in her hands. Percy pried her hands away from his smushed face and cleared his throat.
"Much better, my nose isn't as blocked as it has been for the past few days." He said, making her smile.
"That's good, well I should go so I can be back before lunch. Oh, and Piper and Jason are coming down from camp for the day. I told them I was stuck here with you." Annabeth said, getting up from the bed. Percy put a hand to his chest and looked away.
"STUCK? Ouch Wise Girl, ouch." He said, opening one of his eyes to watch Annabeth laugh.
"Oh, stop being so dramatic Seaweed Brain, I'll see you later." She said, giving him a quick kiss before leaving him in his bedroom.
Percy flopped back down onto his pillow, pulling his blanket over his bare back. He turned to look at the clock on his bedside table. 9:45 am. He read. If Annabeth and his friends weren't going to be back until lunch time, he could still go back to sleep or lay around in bed. For a few minutes, Percy buried himself underneath his bedsheets, hugging his pillow. He lay there, thinking about how lucky he was to have Annabeth taking care of him over the weekend.
Suddenly, Percy sat up in bed with a great idea. "I got it!" He said out loud, before sneezing and blowing his nose into a tissue. I have enough time to shower, and make lunch for Annabeth, Piper and Jason. At least I can do something for them instead of just laying here. He thought, getting up from his bed and walking towards his bathroom. Before getting into the shower, Percy looked at himself in the mirror. Gods… He thought, looking at how red and puffy his face, especially his nose still looked from the constant sneezing. I'm sure a shower will fix this. He thought, turning on the water and letting steam fill up the room.
20 minutes later…
Percy walked out of his room, shaking his damp hair so that it went back to its usual, messy state. He had about an hour until his friends would get here, just enough time for him to whip something up. He went through his fridge to see what he could make. If there was one thing he knew how to make well, it was cheeseburgers, and luckily, he had just the right ingredients to make four. He grabbed some burger patties, buns, onions, lettuce, tomatoes and of course, cheese and piled them in his arms. He carefully walked over to the island and placed the food down. For dessert… Percy thought, turning around to spot his mom's recipe cards. He quickly shuffled through the index cards and picked out just the one he was looking for. "Aha!" He yelled. "Blue cookies!"
Percy quickly turned on the stove, as well as the speakers so that he could sing along to some Led Zeppelin as he cooked. Listen, he may not have been the best singer, but it's not like anyone was home. Percy cracked his knuckles and started placing patties on the grill and chopping up the veggies. His eyes still felt a bit puffy and heavy, but at least his cold was gone and he was feeling much better. He smiled to himself as he smelled the delicious smell of burgers coming from the grill.
30 minutes later…
Percy happily placed a burger bun on top of the last burger on the plate. He nodded in approval to himself as he wiped his hands on a washcloth and tossing it to the side. He glanced at the oven to see the cookies that were baking and couldn't help crouch down and watch them bake. It's 11:45, maybe I can sneak one cookie in before they get back. He thought to himself, thinking whether or not Annabeth would get mad at him for eating cookies before an 'actual meal' as she says. He himself would argue that cookies were a valid meal, but he has never won that argument before.
Before the cookies could finish however, Percy heard the door unlock. He quickly stood up to see Annabeth, Piper and Jason walk into the apartment, chattering about something. "Percy? We're home!" He heard Annabeth say. The three demigods looked around for a moment, before seeing Percy standing in the kitchen with an apron tied around his waist. Percy flashed them a smile, before proudly sticking his arms out towards the plate of burgers.
"Dude, did you make lunch?" Jason asked, his eyes eyeing the juicy burgers on the table. Percy nodded.
"Yup! I made lunch!" He proudly said, putting his hands on his hips. Jason helped Piper and Annabeth put some bags near the couch before the three of them walked to the table.
"This looks great Perce." Piper said, giving him a hug to greet him. Percy's smile grew wider, as he hugged Piper back and gave Jason a high five.
"Didn't I tell you to rest?" Annabeth said, looking Percy up and down, trying to diagnose how he was feeling.
"I was feeling better. Plus, you've been doing so many things for me this weekend, that I felt the need to do something for you guys." Percy said, untying his mom's apron and hanging it up. "Do you two want to bring the food to the living room? We can watch a movie while eating." Percy suggested, looking at Piper and Jason. The two of them nodded and picked up the plate of burgers and soda.
"We also brought treats!" Piper said, pointing at the grocery bag by the couch.
Percy looked at Annabeth, who was looking at him and smiling. "What?" He asked, tilting his head to one side.
"This is sweet Seaweed Brain." She said, moving his hair away from his forehead. Percy chuckled and put his arm around her.
"Anything for you." He said, making Annabeth roll her eyes at his cheesiness.
"Are you feeling alright?" She asked as Percy let go of her to grab the cookies out of the oven.
"Mmhm." He said, placing the tray onto the counter.
"Are you sure? You still look tired." She said, helping him transfer the blue cookies from the tray to the plate. Percy shrugged.
"I mean yeah, still a bit drowsy, but much better than yesterday." He said, smiling at her. Annabeth nodded and grabbed the plate of cookies to bring to the living room.
"That's good, so then I can give you this." She said as she gave him a short kiss. Percy let out a soft laugh and put his arm around her.
"I approve of that. I really do." He said as they walked to the living room where Piper and Jason were sitting on the loveseats.
Annabeth laughed as she placed the cookies onto the coffee table, next to the burgers. "Ooooh! Your mom's cookies!" Piper squealed, excited to get more of one of her favorite treats.
"Bro you didn't tell me you could cook!" Jason said, eyeing the food Percy had made. Percy nodded at him.
"Dude, I told you. I am going to be the best house husband." He said, making the demigods laugh.
"So, are we going to eat? I'm starving." Jason said, making a grab for a burger. Each one of them took a burger into their hands and got their share of soda.
"So, Perce, I'm guessing you're feeling better?" Piper asked, swinging her legs over Jason's. Percy nodded as he took a big bite out of his burger.
"Yeah, still a bit groggy, but much better." Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Annabeth shake her shoulders as she ate her burger; the small dance she always did when she liked the food she was eating. He smiled at how cute she looked.
"Well, to make you feel even better, we brought treats!" Piper yelled, holding her burger in one hand and reaching for the grocery bag with her other. She brought out two bags of Fritos, and a pack of Swedish Fish. Percy's eyes lit up as he saw the box of Swedish Fish, his favorite candy to much on. "I want!" He yelled as Piper threw the box at him. Annabeth laughed and shook her head.
"You're such a child." She said, catching an onion that was about to fall from her burger. Percy stuck his tongue out at her.
"Well what movie are we going to watch?" Annabeth asked, scooting over so that she was huddled up next to Percy.
"Sick boy's choice." Jason said, pointing in his direction. Percy smiled, knowing exactly what he wanted to watch.
"Finding Dory!" Percy enthusiastically yelled, raising his burger into the air. Piper raised her eyebrow but laughed.
"He just watched Nemo yesterday." Annabeth explained.
"Hey, Finding Dory really is a great movie though." Jason said, giving Percy a high five.
"Thank you! See!" Percy said to a laughing Annabeth and Piper.
"Hey, I never said no! Come on then." Annabeth said, letting out a small snort, which Percy always found insanely cute. She picked up the remote and played the movie.
30 minutes later…
Percy was snacking on his Swedish Fish, holding Annabeth in his arms. Piper and Jason were sharing a bag of Fritos and Piper was chuckling at how invested Jason was getting into the movie. "Bailey the Beluga Whale is officially my favorite character." Jason said, staring at the TV.
"Why? Because he can barely see, like you?" Annabeth joked, making Jason throw a chip at her.
"Now now Annabeth, our friend here is simply visually impaired." Percy said, pointing at Jason. Jason crossed his arms and adjusted his glasses.
"Oh shut up you two." He said, rolling his eyes. He grabbed another handful of Fritos from the bag Piper was holding.
"Well you know who my favorite character is?" Percy said, putting his Swedish Fish down. "Destiny." He said.
"Why?" Piper asked, expecting him to say Nemo, or even Dory.
"Because, like her, I can speak whale." He said, mimicking the whale noises that Destiny was making in the film to talk to Dory. Piper and Jason laughed.
"He really can." Annabeth said as Percy continued making whale noises.
Piper and Jason stopped laughing and looked at Percy incredulously. "Wait, seriously?" Piper asked. Percy nodded.
"I can talk to any sea creature, remember?" He said.
"Dude that's so cool." Jason said, softly hitting Percy's shoulder. Percy looked back at Jason, excitement in his eyes.
"Dude, I'm telling you, next time we watch a film, we're going to watch one of those Nat Geo whale documentaries. Those whales say the funniest things." He said. Jason looked back at him and smiled.
"DUDE YES!" He excitedly said, high fiving him. Annabeth and Piper both rolled their eyes.
"That really is an experience though, I remember the first time I watched one of those documentaries with him and he translated everything." Annabeth said, laughing at Percy.
Percy let his head fall onto Annabeth's shoulder and wrapped his arms around her. He was still feeling rather drowsy, especially from his meds. The food he ate also didn't help as he now definitely had a food coma. As the movie continued, Percy felt Annabeth play with his hair, making him plaster a goofy smile on his face. He dug his face into her hair and gave her a kiss on the cheek, making her blush, smile and lean into him more. It had been some time since he had his memories taken away, and he was happy with finally getting to just relax with his friends like normal teenagers, eating junk and watching movies on his couch.
1 hour later…
Percy groaned and opened his eyes. Sometime during the movie, he had fallen asleep, and his head was throbbing. He glanced up to see Jason and Piper by the doorway, talking to Annabeth. "Mmph." Percy muttered, sitting up from his position on the couch.
"Percy! We didn't want to wake you." Piper said, giving him a soft smile from the doorway as she put on her shoes. Jason nodded.
"Yeah, you seemed pretty out of it. We need to get back to camp soon to help Leo out with something and we didn't want to wake you up." He said.
Percy rubbed his eyes but nodded. "Oh okay, well I'll see you guys back at camp?" Percy said, raising his hand to say goodbye.
"Yeah, let us know if you guys need anything." Piper said, turning towards Annabeth and giving her a hug. Annabeth nodded and led them out into the hallway.
"Tell Leo we say hi." Annabeth said. Jason nodded as Percy waved goodbye to the two of them. Percy watched as Annabeth shut the door and walked back towards him with a glass of water.
Percy smiled at her as she sat down next to him. "Hey sleepy head." She said, handing him the glass of water. "Drink up, you'll get dehydrated." Percy drank the water, quenching his dry throat. His head felt heavy as he put the glass down and motioned for Annabeth to come closer. She scooted closer to her and let him rest his head on her lap. "Hey, thanks for cooking lunch today, you really didn't have to, considering you're sick." Annabeth softly said, playing with his hair. Percy looked up at her and met her gorgeous grey eyes.
"Again, Wise Girl, I wanted to." He said, grabbing her hand and planting a kiss on it. "Plus, I know you thought the burgers were good." Annabeth raised her eyebrow at him.
"And how do you know I liked it?" She said, smirking down at him.
"Well, you did your cute little shoulder shake dance thing that you do when you like whatever you're eating." Percy said, playing with one of her curls. Percy could see a blush growing on Annabeth's cheeks as she chuckled, placing a hand on his cheek. She leaned down and gave him a soft kiss. Percy smiled, feeling her soft lips against his. As she pulled away, Percy smirked at her.
"I thought you didn't want to kiss me because I'm sick." Percy said, watching Annabeth roll her eyes.
"I mean, if I get sick, that gives us an excuse to spend another weekend with each other huh?" She jokingly said, giving him another kiss on the forehead. "Now you, you need to get some sleep. I can practically see your eyes closing." She said, poking his nose.
Percy smiled and sat up, giving Annabeth room to lie down next to him. He was groggy for sure, but he wanted to nap with Annabeth on the couch. Annabeth chuckled, knowing what he wanted and gently lay down. Percy wrapped his arms around her, holding her close to him. He buried his face into her hair, taking in the smell of her shampoo.
He felt his eyes grow heavy as the sun peeked in through the blinds of the apartment, making it even cozier than usual. Nothing could bother him right now, especially when he was holding Annabeth in the comfort of his home. He sniffled as he felt his nose blocking up. Nothing could bother him except maybe a blocked nose. "Curse this flu." He muttered under his breath. He heard Annabeth softly laugh as he drifted off to sleep.
