Sasha Estevez was one of the hottest girls in school. Like her sister, she had long curly hair and a petite frame, but she also had the best body in Green Grove. She had a tiny waist, big butt, and the best lips. She knew she was hot, and she loved to show it off.
Contrary to popular belief, Sasha didn't sleep with a lot of guys. She could still count her bodies on her hands, but she was a massive flirt. She loved to talk to new guys and go on dates and lead them on, then drop them after they did so much for her. She didn't really care, she thought it was payback for the toll men take on women.
She had strict Catholic parents, but they traveled a lot and Sarita and Sasha often did whatever they wanted whenever they wanted. Sarita got into alcohol, Sasha got into sex.
But a lot changed when Danny went with her to the concert. For the first time, Sasha actually liked someone. Danny was mysterious and charming, and ridiculously handsome, and Sasha fell right into line with all the other girls at Green Grove that went to the soccer games just to lust after him.
So she was hurt when Danny broke up with her. They only dated for around a month, but that was her best month of high school. She was almost the most popular girl in school for it.
Danny wasn't the best boyfriend. Sasha thinks he cheated on her at least twice. He didn't text her that much or take her out on dates. She attributed him being distant meant that he was just too mysterious and too much of a cool guy to deal with her all the time. The sex was amazing, though.
Sasha missed him. She wanted him back in her life. She stayed home tonight, the night of Lacey Porter's party. She was trying to be lowkey now that she and Danny were over, so she wouldn't be seen as weak, or not seen at all.
But she wanted to party. She wanted to go and make out with some other guy right in front of Danny and make him wish he never hurt her.
Her phone buzzed, it was a text from Tyler. She opened the message and saw it was a video. She pressed play and saw Danny and Lacey holding hands, much to her dismay. Then Danny was holding onto her waist, rather intimately. She then gasped when she saw the final part of the video.
Lacey kissed him.
In the middle of her party.
A few days after Danny broke up with her.
She couldn't believe the reason her boyfriend broke up with her was because of Lacey Porter. Sure Lacey was pretty, but she was boring. Stale. And one of the bitchiest popular girls in school. And Sasha overheard Lacey was hooking with Archie, so how could she be with Danny that quickly?
A few moments later, Sasha's phone began blowing up. People offered their apologies, girls she hated sent her passive-aggressive texts, and some people even decided to send her more real-time photos and videos of Danny and Lacey, making their first Green Grove appearance as a couple.
She sat and fumed on her bed. Groaning and screaming in embarrassment.
How could he hurt her like that? Sasha's mind evolved from embarrassment and anger. She picked up her heeled boots and swung them onto her foot. She went and threw on a t-shirt, and moved her hair into a bun.
She wasn't going to physically hurt anyone, but she wore some of her sharpest nails in case she needed to break a few faces, hopefully, Lacey's.
Danny opened the passenger door for Sasha to get in his car. He just picked her up for the concert, where he met her parents and even Sarita pretended to be nice to him. She felt like the coolest girl in the world, and she felt so lucky to be with Danny Desai, the hottest sophomore at school.
He got in on the driver's side and Sasha admired the car. Danny didn't say much except turn to her with a few close-lipped smiles as he pulled out of her driveway.
'So, uh, do you want to listen to some music?" Danny asked shyly. Sasha wondered why he seemed so awkward.
"Am I making you nervous?" Sasha probed and Danny let out a light chuckle.
"Yeah, I guess you are."
"Why?"
"This is the first real date I've ever been on, and I don't know much about you."
"Well, what do you want to know?" Sasha turned her body to fully face him, letting her dress slightly hike up in the process. She knew how to make a guy want her, and she really wanted Danny.
He laughed a bit but she noticed his eyes spot her upper thighs and he immediately turned his attention back to the road. He gripped the wheel tighter. She was beautiful, but Danny felt weird going out with her. He wanted to be with someone else.
"What's your favorite color?" He jokingly said, saying the first question that came to mind.
"Boring! Ask me how many guys I've slept with," Sasha said confidently and Danny was surprised by how blunt she was. He thought it was cool to be out with someone that said exactly what they were thinking. He knew she was trying to show off because she was a year younger, but Danny was entertained.
"Okay, how many guys have you slept with?"
"A woman never kisses and tells, Danny Desai," he laughed out loud for the first time that night. He knew he was in for a wild concert with this mysterious freshman that had the confidence to ask him to the concert, even though they've only spoken to each other a few times before.
"Touché. You are a trip, Sasha Estevez."
PORTER HOUSE
Danny was on top of the world. He was officially out with the only girl he's ever had in his heart. He knew it was hard for Lacey to tell people about them. He kept looking at her, to catch any form of regret. She looked happy, easy-going. People kept coming up to her and trying to get her attention, but she held onto Danny's hand every time someone came up to her. She took him wherever she went.
"When did this happen?" a random girl Danny has never met asked Lacey. Lacey the diplomat, smiled at the girl before giving a passive reply.
"I don't know, when did someone invite you to this party?" She countered. Danny chuckled lightly and pulled his girlfriend's waist to get away from the girl. Lacey sunk into his touch and kissed his cheek as he led her away from the party.
"Why are people so nosy?" Lacey asked when she and Danny finally ended up at the keg. He was getting himself a drink as he replied to the flustered, beautiful girl.
"Well, we did just make out in front of them, people are bound to have questions," he replied and took a sip of the beer, slightly warm. He wished he had some of the wine Lacey offered to him earlier.
"I guess it's not as bad as it could be. I just can't believe Tyler recorded it."
"Tyler records everything, Lace. And you're the most popular girl in a school of course people are watching your every move."
Lacey smiled, she didn't know it would feel this natural with him. Ever since their relationship developed into lovers during March, she was always scared it would ruin their friendship. But at this moment she felt even closer to Danny.
There was a lot Lacey was scared of in her relationship with Danny. Danny was popular, but he was artistic and charming. He wasn't a typical jock that had no personality, he was multi-dimensional. Lacey prided herself on being detached. She didn't show anyone who she truly was, not that she really knew anyway.
He was her friend, and she loved him so much. She was scared of him hurting her. He knew everything about her. All the time they spent in his car talking every night for hours. She had to cram and skate by on every homework assignment because they were so attached to each other.
He wasn't any boy she could play around with and use for social power. Danny is the real deal, an actual boyfriend.
In July, Lacey was sure she wanted to be in a relationship with Danny, but the past few months of lying and sneaking and pretending left her drained. She trusted him, but she didn't know if she was ready.
Lacey shook the idea out of her head, knowing that she was anxious and spiraling into thoughts that aren't needed. She was official with Danny, and it would be social suicide to end the relationship before it truly even began. She stopped herself again. Nothing was ending.
Danny squeezed her arm and the contact took Lacey out of her negative thoughts. She looked at Danny and he gave her a small smile that she returned. She pulled him towards her and placed a small kiss on his lips. They stood at the keg engrossed in each other and didn't even notice the most recent addition to the party.
Danny and Lacey were in the living room, next to the front door so Sasha saw them easily. She saw his hands moving to rest on her lower waist, and when they pulled apart from the kiss she saw a look in Danny's eye that she's never seen directed toward her. The way he gazed at her made Sasha sick.
Sasha didn't really have a plan. At that moment she wanted to turn around and run before people noticed her at the party, but she also wanted to cause a scene. She could smash everything she saw or fight Lacey and Danny. She began to take her keys out of her purse in an effort to scratch up and ruin the walls. But she stopped herself.
All she truly wanted was to be where Lacey was right now. Wrapped in the arms of the boy she's liked for so long, and was actually dating. A wave of sadness hit her, then it went right back to the anger and contempt she felt for the boy on her way over.
She was staring at Danny, with Lacey's back to her. He looked up and met Sasha's eyes.
Sasha saw his face fall, but he didn't let go of Lacey. Lacey noticed he tensed up, and saw his eyes gawking at something behind her. She turned around and saw Sasha, beautiful and angry as ever.
"Oh my God," Lacey whispered. Sasha gave her a glare.
"Sasha…" Danny began, he moved toward Sasha but she backed up, exiting the party.
She got about 20 steps outside when she heard a female voice call her name. She turned around to see Lacey 'Bitch' Porter running up to her, her annoyingly athletic body moving under her swimsuit.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean for you to find out this way. I was being stupid and-," Lacey said. She looked genuinely sorry, but Sasha didn't care.
"So how long were you fucking my boyfriend?" Sasha said loudly, gathering attention to their argument. Partygoers started gathering around them. Lacey peered around them, uncomfortable with the extra attention.
"I never slept with him while you were together," Lacey said quietly, truthfully. She failed to mention the fact that they got pretty close to a few days ago.
"You know what Lacey? You can really stop pretending in front of all these people that you're a good person-."
"I never said I was a good person. Don't make this messy, Sasha," Lacey interrupted, plainly.
Danny walked to the girls before anything went too far.
"Sasha- I'm sorry. We can talk about this alone if you want," Danny said. He moved closer to Sasha, who backed away from him. The girl felt tears welling up in her eyes, and all the anger she had for Lacey dissipated into hurt toward Danny.
"So I guess you win, Desai. You could've just kept cheating on me to have your cake and eat it too like you usually did," Danny ran his hands through his hair, annoyed Sasha brought up his infidelity in front of everyone at the party. There were gasps and "Oh my God's" heard throughout the house party. The high Danny felt by being out with Lacey diminished.
"I think you should leave, Sasha," Lacey said. She had her arms crossed and was staring down the classless, shorter girl.
"Really? I was thinking I should stay. Maybe have a few drinks- "
"No. You can get the hell off of my lawn," Lacey ordered.
"Lacey maybe we can just… leave this. Let's go back inside," Danny asked, trying to move his new girlfriend away from the older and angrier one.
"I think I'll have a Jell-O shot," Sasha grinned. She looked at Lacey smugly and walked swiftly past her and back into the party. Lacey didn't know whether to chase the girl or let her be, then she felt Danny squeezing her wrist.
"I'm going to my room for a second," Lacey began and wriggled out of Danny's grasp. He saw the confidence and happiness fading from her eyes as she walked back into the house. The party had gone on around them, so there wasn't any unwanted attention. He began to follow her inside the house and was beckoned by Regina and Sarita.
"Ladies-" Danny began.
"There's, like, hundreds of people at this party and you've made out with half of them. How does it feel being the town tart?" Sarita sneered while her blond friend laughed. Danny gave a small smile and stuffed his hands in his pockets.
"Nice, Sarita."
"You do know you're supposed to ask for our blessing before dating Lacey, right?" Regina asked. She pursed her lips out more at him and stuck out her chest. Danny knew her every move, well. Regina is probably the only girl who has thrown herself at him more than anyone in the world. Even more than Sasha, and she was a freshman.
"No, I wasn't aware," Danny laughed and Regina winked. She was always more flirty when he was closer to Lacey, "I should probably find Lacey, I'll see you girls later."
"Don't give anyone else chlamydia on your way there, Desai," Sarita called out to his back. Danny chuckled and rolled his eyes on his way into the house to find Lacey.
He knocked on her room door and opened it further when he saw two people making out on her bed, neither of which was Lacey. He quickly shit that door and began making his way through the rest of the rooms in the hallway. He stopped at her sister's room but it was locked from the inside, sneaky little middle schoolers.
Finally, he went to Lacey's mom's bedroom. The one room he knew Lacey did not allow anyone in during her parties under any circumstances. He knocked.
"No." He heard Lacey call out flatly.
"It's me," Danny said in a sing-song voice. He heard the woman on the other side of the door walk toward him and the door swung open.
Danny quickly entered the room and pulled the sides of her face into his. He embraced her and placed a passionate kiss on her lips. He closed the door behind him and continued pushing his and Lacey's bodies toward the center of the room. She didn't return the kiss and lightly pushed against his chest to end the kiss.
"Danny, not in my mother's bedroom," she laughed shyly.
"Well there's two very drunk people in your room so I think we need to make do with what we have right now," he whispered and tilted her head back up toward his mouth.
"Danny, wait…" she began. He knew what was coming.
"I know that was weird and I'm sorry about Sasha. Do you want me to make sure she leaves?" Danny offered and Lacey shook her head. She had the bottle of tequila with her now and took a small swig. She passed it to Danny and he took a gulp as well.
"No, it's okay. Jo promised to keep an eye on her as long as I tell her everything first thing tomorrow morning. She's pissed at us, Danny."
"We knew we would ruffle some feathers. Lace, things are going to be really rocky for a bit but it will work out, I promise."
"We have a lot to talk about too," Lacey began seriously. Danny nodded his head again.
"I know."
"Especially you need to address the cheating. I feel like we rushed into this. We barely talked for the past three months and now we are picking up from before you left for Arizona!" Lacey exclaimed then sat on her mom's bed.
Danny felt incredibly guilty. The feeling of sliminess fell over him again. He never recognized how ashamed he was of his actions during their time apart. He never wanted to address that he was being a fuckboy. He wanted to go back to the beginning of summer and back to only ever being with Lacey. He felt dirty and he didn't want lacey to feel like he was too.
"Lacey, I told you I will do anything for you to trust me," he said honestly. He leaned in front of her placing his hands on her thighs. She smiled down at him and caressed his stubbly chin.
Danny felt warm inside when he looked at her. He didn't want to be like his father and ruin an amazing relationship because he didn't address his problems. He wanted to do this the right way. Lacey deserved that.
"I love you," he whispered, laying his head on her thighs. She comfortingly stroked his hair and moved his chin towards her.
"I love you too, Danny," she said and placed a slow kiss on his lips. They stayed in that position for a bit, softly kissing one another and mumbling more 'I love you's.'
"Wait, there are people in my room?" Lacey pulled away abruptly and stood up. She quickly stormed out of her mother's room. She pounded on her room door, shocking some of the partygoers talking in the hallway, "You have 30 seconds to get your clothes on and the fuck out my room!"
Danny stood in the doorway laughing and soon after two drunk people staggered out of her bedroom. The guy hardly had his swim trunks on and the girl still had one full breast out of her swimsuit. Lacey huffed and went into her room, Danny followed soon after.
