Amy has a suggestion to help their lonely friend Raj
##################################
After Ramona left him Raj was so distraught his selective mutism came back, although he could still talk to Amy, Bernadette and Penny. It was three months before he could start to talk to other ladies. However, outside his social circle and his workplace he had as little to do with females as possible.
He carried on with his single life as an honorary member of the Hofstadter, Rostenkowski-Wolowitz and Fowler-Cooper families. He carried on as honorary Uncle and did his work at Caltech. The deaths of both his parents in 2034 hit him particularly hard.
December 17th 2034 was the 18th birthday of Halley Wolowitz and the 55th birthday of Amy, as usual a joint birthday party took place. Halley was now of an age where she was less keen on being with her brother Michael and her "cousins" Martin, Flora and Stephen but she still had a good time at the party. She has grown into a very intelligent young woman, just like her mother but she was more laid back like her father.
Halley was planning to go to college next year, she was talking to Uncle Raj about what she would have to do get into Caltech. In the mean time Amy had a chat with Howard and Sheldon.
Amy "Howard, can I have a word with you. I am feeling bad about Raj, he is all alone in the world. That could have been me if I had never met Sheldon."
Howard "What do you want me to do? Find him a lady friend?"
Amy "Why don't you set him up on a blind date?"
Howard "Seriously, you know he is scared of women he doesn't know."
Amy "Humour an old lady on her birthday. A blind date worked for me thanks to you and Raj."
Sheldon "That's right, so what do you want us to do?"
Amy "The two of you should go online and set up a blind date for Raj..."

Two weeks later, after much persuasion and encouragement from Amy, Bernadette and Penny, Raj entered the restaurant for his blind date.
"Hello, are you Katherine Hassan-Cohen, I am Rajesh Koothrappali."
"Pleased to meet you Sir, won't you sit down?"
"Thank you, have you eaten here before?"
"I have been a widow for 5 years, so I am trying something new."
"I am trying something new as well. I must warn you I have been divorced three times after rushing into marriage too quickly."
"So where are you from Mr. Koothrappali?"
"I am from Delhi in India, I have been away from India most of my adult life. I had 4 years at Cambridge in England as a PhD student and then I have spent most of my adult life here in California. Are you from India, Hassan is a good Indian name?"
"Not from India, from Indiana! My grandfather was born in what is now Bangladesh and he emigrated to England where he married my grandmother from Ireland. Their son emigrated over the pond where he met my mother in New York City. My maternal grandparents were Mexican and Italian, my late husband was of Russian Jewish descent. I am a typical American."
"What do you do for a living?"
"I work as a librarian, how about you Dr. Koothrappali."
"I am an astrophysicist, I work with the stars."
"Not the ones in Hollywood I presume..."

Next Sunday there were lots of questions for Raj from his female friends.
"I had a nice time, she was a pleasant enough person but there was no real connection. Thank you for trying Amy. Anyway I have something else to keep me busy, they want me to give more talks at the planetarium next month.
Three weeks later at the Caltech Library Raj approaches one of the librarians
"Hello, it's Ms Hassan-Cohen isn't it."
"Well it's Dr. Koothrappali, how are you."
"I didn't know you worked here."
"Well here I am."
"Good to see you again. I put in a request to borrow an old Astronomy text book but they couldn't find it. I am giving a talk at the planetarium next week and I wanted to talk about how knowledge of astronomy has changed over the years. Your colleagues said that you might be able to find this old book for me."
"Give me the details and I will see what I can do."
Later that afternoon Raj is working in his office
"Come in, why it's our friendly librarian."
"Hello Dr. Koothrappali, is this the book you are looking for."
"Yes it is, oh thank you. This will be a great for my planetarium talk next Monday. Here, have a ticket for my talk, it starts at 7.30pm..."

At the end of his planetarium talk Raj was talking to Amy and Sheldon when he was interrupted
"Excuse me Dr. Koothrappali."
"Ah it's the friendly librarian, did you enjoy the talk."
"Yes I did, thank you for the invitation."
"May I introduce you to my friends, this is Professor Sheldon Cooper and Professor Amy Farrah Fowler, they also work at Caltech. Amy and Sheldon, this is Katherine Hassan-Cohen, she works in the Caltech Library."
"Pleased to meet you, I hope to see you around at Caltech."
"I hope so, thanks for coming" then Katherine walked away.
Amy says "so who was that?"
Sheldon "I recognised the name, she was the blind date that Howard and I set up for you."

Four days later Raj is in his office when there was a knock on the door
"Come in, why it is Katherine the librarian."
"Good afternoon Dr. Koothrappali, may I have a word."
"No problem, please sit down."
"I have a favour to ask. My late husband Sam has a sister called Elaine. Every few months she invites me for dinner and she invariably tries to set me up with someone. She is a lovely lady, a wonderful sister-in-law but possibly the world's worst matchmaker. No doubt she would have some numbskull waiting for me at the dinner, so I have a suggestion to foil her plan. Would you like to come to dinner with me, it is in 8 days time."
"I think I can make that, please email me the details. Thank you Katherine that is very kind of you to ask."
"No problem Rajesh, see you then. Have a good weekend."

9 days later Raj arrived at Amy and Sheldon's house for the Sunday lunch.
Sheldon shook his hand and Amy gave him a hug before she said
"So how are you today Raj?"
"Pretty good, I had a date last night..."
