Chapter 2

Entrance Exam Excitement

After Izuku used the experimental booster to save that family, there have been a few, side effects.

Namely that he now feels like he's forever on edge, because now he can feel how much danger the people around him are, and if he touches them then he gets a true feeling of how much danger they're in, he's already saved a guy from a stroke, and an older lady from a heart attack, but that's beside the point. This, sucks, it's useful, it saves people, it truly is a hero's quirk but at the end of the day, it sucks. he is drowning in the amount of danger that people around him must place themselves in every day. Lately however, he has grown to appreciate this power quite a bit more. Three days after saving that family from the sludge villain he feels his brain start to itch, the intensity of the itch was far worse than he was used to, but after getting such an intense feeling he also realized that he could get a vague direction of where the danger was coming from. With his quirks combined he pulled on his Peloppone undershirt and mask, changed into some stretchy oversized pants, and he made his way out of the apartment complex.

Once he had reached the street he focused entirely on the itch, feeling his second quirk broil inside of him, he began to run, pretty fast if he did say so himself, maybe a touch faster than the cars on the road, so that put him at a rough speed of 40 kilometers an hour. As fast as an Olympic sprinter, it took him about a minute to get to the scene and the damage was, impressive.

In the middle of what looked like it used to be a shopping district, there was the sludge villain. And the angry Pomeranian who set off his danger sense in the first place, Katsuki Bakugo. The danger in the air felt almost palpable, though he couldn't tell if it was Katsuki or the Sludge villain being the reason. In the end he supposed it didn't matter, he's here now.

Every time Katsuki let and explosion loose, Izuku felt his first quirk flare uncomfortably. Flinching at both the sound of the explosion, and the intense itch that came to his mind every time he let them loose, so Izuku did what a hero would, Izuku planned.

He took stock of the heroes around him, Kamui Woods was keeping bystanders out of the way, Death Arms who looked to be trying to plan something, Backdraft keeping the fires in check, Mt.Lady who couldn't fit in the two lane road, and slugger who at the moment was trying to look important.

It appears Izuku was the only one with prior experience to this villain.

Drawing on past experience with the villain, Izuku made a plan which seemed simple to implement and explain. Slugger would throw debris into the sludge villains eyes with his quirk, Kamui Woods was to keep the villain in check by disrupting the sludge villains flow with a modified lacquered chain prison, and use Mt.Lady to keep the crowd in check. Izuku pushed his way to the front of the crowd meeting directly with Kamui woods, pushing past the barrier he had set up, and talked to Death arms.

"What's the plan?" Izuku said, trying to sound older than he felt.

"There is no plan, none of us have the appropriate quirk to deal with this. Who are you?"

"you can call me, Deku. You have the appropriate quirks." Izuku was starting to feel the heat from the buildings, the crowd unaware of just how dangerous their fawning of the heroes really was. talk about a stressful environment

"Oh, is that so, Deku , explain yourself." Death arms really was quite good at frowning disapprovingly, lots of practice?

And so Izuku explained the plan to Death arms, who took it surprisingly well.

"Alright Deku, there's a good mind up there, but next time, get your provisional heroics license first."

Izuku at first was completely confused, he saw right through me, he totally knows I'm a vigilante teen. Danger-sense started to sporadically flare up, and die, and flare up again, and Izuku realized that unless this didn't happen right now, Katsuki was going to die so Izuku started running as fast as he could. As he approached the Sludge villain he cut the tendrils right up until he got to the last, which couldn't be cut by brute strength alone. Izuku immediately moved to try and remove Katsuki from the sludge villain, and it was at this moment that the plan started coming together.

Death arms had the sufficient arm strength to break the thickest tendrils that Izuku couldn't, and Izuku began in earnest once more. The sludge villain made to reclaim his hostage but their advance was halted by Kamui Woods lacquered chain prison and became nigh entirely trapped by Kamui's quirk, but that had only been possible because Slugger had absolutely CHUCKED a piece of debris right into one of the sludge villain's eye making them howl in pain (and distraction), Mt.Lady had already taken over crowd management.

He never thought that pro heroes would listen to him! Unreal!

Then of course, the press began to show up. But the danger was gone, which meant that his quirks were in the process of deactivating, so he did what any sane teen would do in a stressful situation, he ran away. He didn't find out until later how much Death arms would cover for him, and how much the other pros would vouch for his legitimacy. it was probably the biggest reason for why he wasn't hunted down. He didn't know about it though. As such it did not change his perspective on his questionably legal heroics. Of course, in just ten and a half months, that would be when it all started to change. Not that it hadn't already…

As Izuku learned to live with his overactive quirks, he began looking for any escape that could be offered to him. Living with a quirk that tells you about peoples impending doom that you can't realistically act on made him feel like he was the titan Atlas. holding the weight of the sky that the earth might remain uncrushed. So he consulted with Vόskos, and he consulted with some of his fellow Peloppone. Collectively, they developed an action plan of sorts, which consisted of exercise, quirk training, and meditation. He needed to overwhelm his body, to provide a sustained distraction (soreness), learn to identify the feelings of his first, and second quirk activating, and third learn how to shut those feelings away. preferably in that order. After all it would be fairly difficult to go outside of it.

And so Izuku began to exercise for as long as he physically could. Exercise was his only release from the weight of the world, even if it was only for a precious hour or two, but that taught him how to Identify the feelings of his quirks, and eventually he shut them away.

(Talk about a montage, all you are going to get is a before and after description.)

The day of the entrance exam had arrived, Izuku was running through his mental exercises. In hindsight he supposed that Katsuki hadn't tried to annoy him since the sludge incident, maybe the near-death experience had made him reevaluate his stance on life. Izuku went back to his breathing exercises. The anxiety in the air was making his first quirk flare up. Feeling overwhelmed he started for a bench so he could focus more on his meditative practices. So, he closed his eyes, breathed in through his nose and out through his mouth, focusing on the air moving into his lungs. with that action being the only thing he focused on, the smells in the air, the noises around him, the oppressing presence of his quirks, they began to fade, his mind became wonderfully clear, he had been freed of the weight of the world. Overjoyed that it worked he moved to grab his backpack and realized there was someone sitting next to him on the bench.

And immediately after he went through all the effort to not think or feel anything, he realized he was sitting next to a girl, who seemed very concerned. No good thing could last forever. and everything came back full force, he picked up on her anxiety about the test. And he felt the weight of the sky once more. Frustrated he felt tears prickle at the edge of his eyes. The tears betraying him as the sky felt so much more oppressing when all you wanted to do was leave your post for a day, but the fates denied him such respite. So here he was instead, holding the sky on his young shoulders, crying, as he attempted to get into the high school of his dreams, and was being held back by the very things that had granted him this opportunity in the first place.

He was brought out of his head by the feeling of a thumb on the back of his hand and from a hand on his back both rubbing circles. He realized she had been trying get him to talk for at least a little bit it seems, as her voice sounded rather insistent.

"Hey, are you alright, just let it out so you can focus on the test okay? Can you hear what I'm saying, is this normal for you?"

It took him a moment to respond

"This isn't normal for me. Um, sorry for worrying you, my quirks can get overwhelming if a bunch of stuff is happening at once. Thank you for helping me, I think I'll be fine now though."

"I thought you were going to go into a full-blown panic attack. Are you sure you'll be fine?"

"Quite sure, Izuku tried to start a handshake so his quirk would be active on her (more active than it already was anyway), it was the least he could do, thanks for that by the way, my name is Izuku Midoriya, could I get your name?"

"Ochako Uraraka, best of luck with the exams!" shaking his hand with just a hint of confusion

"You too Uraraka-san!" feeling a tingle in his head, confirming that his first quirk had just activated

And so it was that he arrived at the room for his written portion of the test, 3 minutes before it started, with tear stained cheeks, and a grin on the verge of breaking, but he was here, at his dream High School, with the weight of the skies upon him, but it had always been that way, why would today be any different?

He had finished the written exam and he was now preparing for the practical, sitting in a massive auditorium with at least hundreds of other students, and of course, in the seat next to him was his favorite Pomeranian, Katsuki Bakugo, because of course they would assign numbers based on school, why wouldn't you want to have some familiar faces surrounding him during this trying experience.

Of course, he did his best to make small talk,

"Katsuki, I presume you did well on the written exam, how do you think you will score on the practical?"

"Shut up Nerd."

There was a pregnant pause

"Do you have a plan for how you will fight the robots?"

"Looking for help because of your weak brain and quirk?"

"Alright."

The presentation went on as one would expect it too, there were few interruptions from the students, Present mic couldn't get his audience to participate, and the one question there was seemed to be quite formal and stiff. Nothing worthy of mentioning, practical exam however most certainly would be.

Izuku got off of his bus at ground 1-b and started looking around, admiring the huge walls that surrounded it, which mostly just made him feel small, so he looked elsewhere, and found the person he didn't know he was looking for.

"Uraraka-san!" he called hoping to catch her attention, she looked up from her breathing exercises and after a second recognized him, he kept walking towards her, and tried to get a High-five, he didn't know how long his first quirk lasted on people he didn't know but it was worth getting reset, she didn't take him up on it so he put his hand down. "Don't stress, you've already been a real hero today, if they don't let you in what kind of Academy is this!"

"Thank you, Midoriya, I think I understand a little bit how you must have felt earlier."

"At least a bit I'm sure… Good luck!"

"You too Midoriya!"

"AAAND START!!! THERE ARE NO COUNTDOWNS TO DISASTER AND WE DON'T EITHER, GO!!!"

Izuku was worried about entering this test quirkless, but it seemed as though the robots didn't have any safety features, so the examinees were in plenty of danger for his quirks to slowly escalate as more of them began to find conflict and activated his first quirk. eventually Izuku found a decent pace of around 3 points a minute, which while respectable is not enough going off of what the website said he would have to get in order to get in, 'the average student in these exams will score about 8 points, this is an excellent score, but if you wish to enter the hero course you will need to score at least 36, as all hero course students in the last 4 years have scored at least this many points. Best of luck!'

14 Points! I scream internally

"2 MINUTES LEFT!"

It's not enough, what am I supposed to do…

Then I start to feel an itch in my brain. Danger-sense was activating more so than it had been previously. I feel the ground start to rumble. And then my first quirk flares like it has never flared before. It gives me the most intense Itch that is approaching on painful in the back of my brain. and I realize its pointing to my left, and I run. I run like I have never run before. I see the world begin to blur just a little bit, exactly like the sludge incident more than ten months ago now, I feel my second quirk responding to the firsts cry of danger. and I grow, going from an already enhanced 6'7" behemoth of muscle to an almost 8-foot-high monolith of power.

If I can't pass the test…

I feel my undershirt begin to strain. We never could have imagined that my second quirk could compile so much power into a single moment. I round the corner and realize why. students are running everywhere, but the reason for my quirk's activation becomes clear as I gaze over the heads of the students running away, I see Uraraka. Looking like she's about to hurl. Stuck under a massive piece of rubble, and I see the zero-pointer approaching her. My first quirk flares once again as a new sense of danger comes over me. Immediately I react, the students running away from the zero-pointer part as I run forward, my shoes had already broken at this point.

Then the least that I can do…

The rubble starts to cut my feet. The adrenaline dampers the pain as I rush forward. Reaching Uraraka I attempt to lift the rubble off of her. It begins its ascent slowly, right up until Uraraka can turn and she plants a full hand of fingers to it and immediately it flies off of her. I pick her up firemen style, and rush away, but I realize through my danger sense the other examinees are still in danger. So I, trusting in my quirks, move to ascend the zero pointer as I reach new heights of power as Adrena-lend surges throughout my body, trying to save us from certain death. I grow even more, ripping my skin as my body fights to contain and use this awesome power. and I keep growing, driven ever forward by the anxiety of the examinees and my own worries, I find myself at the base of zero-pointers neck, and I rip the cords from its head, making it blind to world, and it deactivates, I slide down its arms, and swing to the main chassis, and from there I leap to the ground.

Is save just one life.

"Is everyone alright?" I ask what appears to be examinee 7113

"All of the examinees are in nominal condition." Now he looks concerned, what's up with that?

At this point my quirk had finished deactivating, and what energy that had, had me going, was gone, I pass out.

I woke up in a tube.

My eyes begin to open, as they open they sting.

The stinging fades, I open them further and I'm greeted with darkness.

Exhaustion claims me once more.

I wake up.

My eyes open, the sting doesn't surprise me.

As the stinging fades I notice light.

I find what appear to be computer screens.

The world draws itself into focus, next to the computer screens I see a mummy, slouching in a chair, rocking slightly.

I enjoy a sense of nothingness, realizing that my quirks are inactive I panic slightly, this draws the attention of the person at the computer, who focused 3 sets of almost glowing yellow eyes on me at once.

They press a button, there's a stir in the fluid around me, my feet begin to settle on the smooth metallic floor of my chamber. My hair is longer now, and eventually floats down to cover my eyes.

I make to brush the hair away but I feel a light tugging on my arm, tossing my hair back I see a rather intense apparatus of sensors over laid along with what appears to be an IV line.

The room is still dark, but the computer screens give enough light to start noticing details about the room. It's quite utilitarian, the floor is tiled in some of the most boring gray tiling I have ever laid my eyes on. The person with the 3 sets of eyes also has 3 sets of arms, which seem to be connected to 3 sets of shoulders that themselves seemed attached to his torso. He too had the silver hair seemingly common among the Peloppone.

After my chamber finishes draining the liquid, I realize I am standing on legs that are extremely sore, so I lean back on to the wall, which was very textured and uncomfortable to lean on.

"Midoriya, you gave us quite a scare back there." His voice sounds distorted and familiar

"I'm sorry, back where?" my voice is raspy and echoes around me

"At the entrance exam, when you attacked the Zero-pointer." Patience is bleeding from him with every word.

"I did what now?" confusion surrounds me as I struggle to recall the pasts events

"You attacked the Zero-point robot, climbed up its chassis, disabled it, then Tarzan-ed your way down." He began the story with a relative air of calm.

"You pulled that stunt after your quirk had been in use for at least 6 minutes. And that led to the worst case of total exhaustion we have seen in a long time." His patience and calm were being spent far faster than I felt comfortable.

"Furthermore, we have reason to believe that your second quirk had after-effects including a very slight increase in height, maybe a slight increase in muscle mass. But you had an increase in platelet count and a massively increased red blood cell count. Making your blood act like corn syrup." A bit of a rant at this point

"This puts excessive strain on your heart which would normally be contested by your quirks sensing that you should die. Which would save you from certain heart failure which could be why you sleep for longer than other people. But because of your complete lack of energy in your quirk and your body we had restart your heart most times you fell into sleep." He was mad.

It was incredibly taxing; I hope you appreciate the efforts we went to." His cool had been restored.

Now I get to talk, or rather ask a question.

"So how long was I out?" the reeds that were my vocal cords are starting to give out.

"The day of the entrance exam was February 27th, today is April 5th so about a week until your first day at UA. Good job kid, you made it."

My stomach squeezed and my face contorted, mom calls it my 'ugly face', but I didn't cry, Vόskos didn't like it when I cry.

His next statement however shocked me.

"The only question now is whether you would like to keep the scars."

My what now? I looked at my arms, and underneath all of the equipment starting from my palms it looked like I had been made of porcelain and they had to glue me back together, as they approached my shoulder they toned down in how obvious they were but they still zig-zagged across my chest.

"I can bring it up another time, after you get to think about it."

What do I want, what should I want, what would mom want?

"Give the boy a break Vόskos, he just woke up from a coma of at least a month." The man with the eyes, says.

"Théama, this is all very important to his development, rushing it is arguably the best thing I can do." Vόskos was getting excited about something…

The person with 3 sets of eyes, rolled all of 6 of theirs and went back to their screens

And so the tennis match of a conversation returned the ball to me.

"Sorry about all that you had to go through to keep me alive."

"You're a Peloppone asset, we don't let those go easily."

… "good to know." Hard to sound snarky when it sounds like your forcing your voice to make any noise, which admittedly I was

"Your, friend, she asked about you." His voice had a probing tone to it.

"What friend?" my brain still as confounded as it was when I woke up but with 3 other life altering events bouncing around.

Vόskos waited until I remembered

"She wanted to thank you. But you were, incapable of being thanked." He gave a little smirk at this.

"Why is that?"

"Does this look like a normal hospital?"

Izuku was returned to his mother, three days before his first day of school. So he did what he'd always done with his free time, study and exercise, he reviewed his notes on his quirks, got separate binders for every subject, and waited.

Quirk log:

Danger-sense: I used to consider Danger-sense a passive observation quirk, but after being boosted and based off of recent events I have reason to believe it can be applied to specific people through touch, the length of the effect is undetermined currently, people in the process of dying is shown to me through the 'signal' flaring up and dying increasingly fast.

Adrena-lend: seems to activate in parallel to the total output of Danger-sense, historically for every minute that I have Adrena-lend activated I have passed out for 2 minutes, but recently I think it is related to some sum of all the extra power I gained that I had taken out as a 'loan' from the future, so if I go PLUS ULTRA!!! Then I pass out for significantly longer because I took out a significantly larger 'loan'. I grow in strength and size and I am told that at my peak in the entrance exam I reached a height of almost 12 feet, its strength is undetermined currently. If my transformation is too extreme, I can get ripped apart from the inside because of the explosion in power.
