The Protector
It was nearly 100 degrees in Las Vegas so Nick decided to fill up the kiddie pool in the backyard so the kids could swim.
When Nick finally had it filled the kids went to change into their swimming trunks and suits so they could get in.
The kids splashed happily in the pool, under Nick and Jackie's watchful eye, Jackie even got out the video camera to record them having fun.
Nora stood next to Jackie but decided that her siblings seemed to be having fun so she toddled over next to the pool so she could join them.
As soon as the baby was next to the pool Dolly immediately went and wedged herself between the child and the pool.
At first Nora giggled at the dog but then the baby decided that she wanted to get in with everyone else and then she no longer found the dog funny for getting in her way. She gave the dog a high-pitched scream as if to say move it, Dolly but Dolly was unfazed. Nora took a couple steps to the side, hoping Dolly would get out of her way but Dolly moved right along with her.
Nick and Jackie watched in amazement, Dolly was honestly the best dog, she knew that it was unsafe for Nora to be by the water (Nora was obviously never in danger, Nick and Jackie were literally right next to her, but Dolly didn't understand that).
Nick and Jackie were impressed with Dolly but Nora was not, she glared at the dog and took a couple more steps away from her but Dolly got in-between her and the pool again. Nora had had enough, she shrieked at the dog and then started smacking her on the back.
Nick immediately intervened.
"Oh no sweetheart, we don't hit Dolly, we are nice to her, she loves you and wants to keep you safe." He told the child as he scooped her up so she couldn't reach the poor pooch.
"Sorry about that Dolly, good girl." He told the dog as he gently patted her head with his free hand.
Dolly wagged her tail as a way of accepting his apology.
Nick stepped into the pool with Nora in his arms. As if she knew that with Nick there with her Nora was safe Dolly went and laid down in the shade to cool off.
Nick set Nora on her feet in the water and she instantly sat down on her behind and immediately started splashing wildly, having a great time with her siblings.
"Jacks I'd say this $80 kiddie pool was a great investment." Nick said as he looked over at Jackie who was still holding the camera.
She laughed in agreement.
Who knew a kiddie pool could be so much fun?
