Chapter 1

Omacar stood, staring blankly into the dark void of space. The unknown regions, they called it, were the farthest place a man could reach in the galaxy, and he was standing right in the middle of it.

Far away from home. From Skywalker.

He placed a hand on his forehead, feeling the persistent nagging from his new master to make his way to the courtyard. He focused hard, blocking out the annoyance with a quick flick of the force. He continued to look off into space as if he was trying to see something in the darkness. A door opened behind him, though he paid it no attention.

"Sir. Lord Prawn is requesting your presence for afternoon training."

Omacar closed his eyes and let out a long sigh. "Can't you see that I'm busy? I'll report to the courtyard when I am ready, lieutenant."

"As you wish, sir."

Omacar turned his head and watched the Du'var leave his quarters. The first time he had seen a Du'var was eye-opening, to say the least. After only encountering mid and outer rim species for most of his life, seeing an alien of this variety was a lot to take in. At first glance, the Du'var appeared to be a reptilian species, but their scales were much more sturdy and rugged, similar to steel. Their scales alternated colors as well, blue and white, up and down their entire bodies. He feared them at first, but over the years he had begun to disregard them entirely.

When he was sure that the Du'var was out of sight, he turned again, staring blankly out of the viewport. In all of his time in the unknown regions, he had begun to forget what the rest of the galaxy looked like. The beautiful green wildlife and blue skies that existed in many core worlds had no place where he was now. Instead, the galaxy seemed darker than ever.

When he had first arrived at the compound, Lord Prawn told him that one day he would own the entire galaxy. He promised that, with training, he could become the greatest force wielder to ever live.

Omacar hated that.

He never believed in such fantasies. In his life, betrayal had told him all he needed to know about hope. It was cruel, it burned him inside to think of a better future. No matter how many times he tried, he could never believe in Lord Prawn's promises. Promises left a sour taste in his mouth.

A light flashed on the holo display. Begrudgingly, he placed a finger on the accept key. Lord Prawn appeared, dressed in his usual dark robes, his face pulsing with rage.

"Omacar. Why have you disobeyed me again? This is the third time this week. Do you realize how disrespectful it is to test my patience?"

Omacar let out a snort. "It is barely twenty units past our usual start time. You can't always expect me to be perfect, you know."

Lord Prawn lifted his voice as he spoke, "There is perfect, and then there is the dead. Continue to be average and you will never be good enough," Prawn paused, seemingly burning his eyes into Omacars. "You will never defeat Skywalker."

"Don't say that name!" Omacar shouted, feeling his temper rise. "Skywalker is dead."

Prawn smirked as he spoke. "So sure, are you?"

"I haven't felt his presence since we left Dekka IV."

Prawn's smile widened slightly. "Perhaps your abilities are weaker then I thought."

The transmission ended, but Omacar's temper continued to rise. He pulled on his dark hood and slammed a hand on the door release. He stomped outside into the cold day, letting his anger show in his face as he passed the onlooking Du'vars. He hated the way Prawn treated him. Since his first lesson, Prawn had treated him as if he was the most inferior person he had ever met. This day would surely be no different.

As he entered the courtyard, he glanced around noticing several of the training droids set up in various formations. He grunted.

"You finally showed up!" Prawn said sarcastically from his spot in the center of the enclosure. "Did our transmission lift your spirits?"

Omacar suppressed a snarl. "What's with the droids?"

"It is time for combat training. I assume you brought your blade?"

Omacar frowned. "I wasn't aware it was a combat training day. I left my blade in my quarters."

Prawn grinned as he replied, "Well, you won't need it anyway."

Suddenly, four of the surrounding training droids sprung to life, their activation blinkers swirling red light around the courtyard. Omacar looked around for cover. He spotted a large rock and force leaped to it, ducking out of the droids line of sight.

"What the hell is this Prawn?" Omacar shouted over the sound of blasters.

He glanced around the corner of the boulder and spotted an unactivated droid. He raised a hand, letting the force surround the droid's blaster rifle.

"Got it." He said as the blaster flew through the sky, landing in his arms. "Let's finish this."

He leaped into the air, letting the force dampen his fall onto the hard surface. He raised the blaster and aimed directly for one of the droid's head. He clicked the activation switch, but to his surprise, nothing came out of the weapon.

In a moment of panic, he raised both of his hands, letting the blaster fall to the dirt. He closed his eyes and felt his fear merge with the force. A large blast of bright red electricity shot from his fingers collapsing all of the surrounding droids to the floor. He opened his eyes, watching sparks pop from several of the now destroyed training units.

Prawn had a slight grin on his face. "Well done."

Omacar rushed forward, standing directly in front of Prawn's face. "What the hell was that! Those droids could've killed me!"

"I was merely testing you, Omacar." Prawn said, letting his face return back to his normal expressionless look. "I once told you that you were destined to be the greatest force user of all time, and now here we stand! I once believed it was a myth."

Omacar was puzzled. He had never seen Prawn look so excited. "What do you mean?"

Prawn looked directly into Omacar's eyes and said, "He who wields the red lightning will wield the blade of Mortis once more."

"Is that supposed to make any sense to me?" Omacar said, trying not to be sarcastic.

Prawn blinked and continued, "The prophecy has been talked about here for many long years. We have been waiting. You will lead the way in our journey to ultimate victory. We will control the galaxy!"
