A/N: well I actually made this as a practice for my upcoming english test but nevertheless, please enjoy

This took place sometime around chapter 531

And as per usual, I own nothing from Fairy Tail

Christina was an enormous airship, owned by the Blue Pegasus. Despite its spacious room, Erza didn't feel adventurous enough to explore it. She stood at the corner, leaning against the wooden crates with her arms crossed and deep in thought.

It felt weird, learning her life before Rosemary, the Tower of Heaven and meeting her friends in a moment so fast. Honestly, it never really bothered her before, but she felt it was just too complex to digest in a short period of time. She sighed.

"What's wrong?" A voice approached her. Jellal walked from across the room and stood by her side, leaning against the crates as well. He turned his head to face her side profile but still no reply, as she still solemnly glared at her feet. He sighed and averted his gaze to the walls at the opposing wall.

"Never mind, it's okay if you don't want to talk about it. Sorry for prying."

A minute later and she opened her mouth. "Do you remember the woman lying near to Wendy and I earlier?" She asked. Their eyes met, but he could feel that she was rather tense, as if she was struggling with something.

"I remember vaguely. She had the same hair color as you," he replied.

Then she took a sharp breath and revealed to him, "apparently, she was my mother. For us, she was an enemy and I fought her," she paused, "but when she had the chance to kill me, she ended up killing herself. It's quite bizarre, isn't it?"

Jellal stood silently in thought, listening to every word she muttered before finally speaking up. "I presume that's the maternal bond between the two of you," he suggested, "which might explain why she loved you all this time, despite saying that she wanted to kill you."

She was speechless. How can this man beside her figure this quickly even when he wasn't there when her mother said all those things, she thought. She let out a slight chuckle and asked, "how did you figure that?"

He just shrugged it off, "instinct?"

She knew he has sharp instinct, but she didn't know it was that sharp. Good grief, she thought before finally looked up, "I couldn't explain it, but I feel like a part of me is in grief," she continued, "it felt really odd, considering I've never met her and she wanted to kill me at first."

His gaze somehow turned into a sympathetic one, even though he didn't intend to do so. "Do you want to talk about it? I'm here if you want to," he offered.

She smiled gently and he swore he could see a drop of tear coming out of her eye, "thanks," she replied as she was wiping the stray tear, "I told Wendy that I was okay, but I just don't want to trouble her further."

"I see. That must've been hard for you to suppress that," he replied. He drew closer to her and patted her head gently, shifting it to the crook of his shoulder, "I think you're really strong."

She sneered, "that's what I let off to people, I think. I don't want to be vulnerable," she added. It felt like her obligation to be strong and dependable for the people around her, explaining why she couldn't be weak. If she is, people around her wouldn't have anyone to rely on.

He froze for a second as he was processing her words. It's her first time talking about this kind of stuff to me so openly, he thought. "Talking your feelings and being vulnerable like this doesn't mean that you are weak, you know?" he assured her, "you are much stronger than you give yourself credit for."

Her eyes widened as she heard his words of encouragement. Usually, it was her that convinced him to keep on going and live his life but now it was the contrary.

She stood still, which made him fear if he said the wrong words. A moment later, she grinned playfully at him, "it seems our roles have reversed," she said to him while smiling sincerely. She felt that he really could read her inside out, but she was glad that it was him, since she felt comfortable and can let her walls down around him. "Thanks for cheering me up," she added.

He let out the breath he held for a minute earlier. He was just glad she was back to her usual lively self, "seems that way. Glad you're feeling better," he snickered. "Come on, do you want to join the others now, before they ambush Wendy," he half-joked.

"Sure," she answered while walking with him to the source of the commotion which are the Blue Pegasus members along with Wendy.
