Greetings! Moving along with Chapter 11!
There's not much to say up here except for this first part is written from Stacie's POV. And as always please excuse all grammatical errors!
Four weeks later
I sat in the hospital waiting room feeling nervous and excited at the same time. Who knew it was possible to feel the two at the same time. But I guess that's what being pregnant and being a mother is all about. You're nervous about having to be responsible for another life but at the same time you're so excited to have this little bundle of joy and happiness. Being pregnant is crazy, and I haven't even been pregnant that long. It's been 12 weeks. Some may say that's long but for me it's all going by so fast. I'm starting to show a little bit, but nothing I can't cover up, not that I'm trying to hide it from anyone but that's just what it looks like. These 12 weeks a little person has been developing inside of me and that's crazy to me. But today I get to hear the heart of this little human. James is hoping for a boy, which is typical for men to want a son, I think it'd be cute to see a little him. Despite what he's done, he's a very attractive man and I'd be happy for my kid to look like him however I'd do my best to raise them better and hopefully not make the same mistakes he did. Aubrey is hoping for a girl and secretly so am I, even though I told them both I'll be happy for a healthy baby in general which I will be but a little girl would be nice. I grew up with two older brothers and one younger brother and no sisters. An older sister would have been nice to have or even younger sister. Maybe my baby will be that someday for my future children that I plan to have when I'm ready. Either way, we'll have to wait to find out what my baby will be later on.
After staring at the wall for some time, I felt Aubrey squeeze my hand and call my name softly. I looked over at her and smiled. "Huh?" I said snapping back into reality.
"They called your name. Its your turn."she stated.
"Oh." I stood up as a my stomach filled with a pit of butterflies. I looked at Aubrey once and then at James who was also there. "I'd like for both of you to come in with me, if that's ok with you guys." I smiled. I figured I'd be alright with one of the most important people in my life there as well as one of the most important people in my baby's life. I usually come to the appointments by myself just because I'm afraid that inviting both of them would result in a feud but today I decided to give it a chance. They both stood up and followed behind me as we followed the doctor to a room.
"Hi Stacie, welcome back and welcome support team." Dr. Johansen smiled as she looked at Aubrey and James.
"Thanks and oh, this is Aubrey, my girlfriend. And this is James, my um - well the father of the baby."I smiled awkwardly. The two of them smiled back and took their seats on one side of the room.
"Pleasure to meet you guys. So today, we'll be doing a standard prenatal checkup but we'll also be listening to the baby's heartbeat."the doctor said looking at her clipboard. "Let's get started shall we."
I took a deep breath and nodded my head as I looked to the other side of the room hoping they would make me feel less nervous but it wasn't helping. The first part of the checkup was pretty invasive but being the person I was, I was very comfortable with my body and I was sure the doctor had seen many vaginas a day. And Aubrey and James had seen basically all of me already so this was nothing new. I don't think they were exactly staring at me as the procedure was being done but even if they were it wasn't anything they hadn't seen before. I mentally kicked myself for thinking that but it was true.
When my pants finally got to go back on, the nerves came back suddenly. It was weird that I was more comfortable with them off than on. But I guess now I had more reason to be nervous because now it was time for ultrasound. It would be the first time that all three of us saw the baby together. Of course I saw him/her four weeks ago but I was eager to see how he/she developed. I was so caught up in thinking about that I barely felt the cold gel being rubbed on my stomach. Once the doctor began scanning my stomach and something appeared on the screen, I snapped back into reality.
"And there's your baby. Looks really good so far."Dr. Johansen smiled.
Immediately Aubrey stood up and came to my side and squeezed my hand while giving me a sweet smile. I looked at her and then back at the screen and smiled too. That made me feel a lot less nervous, it was almost as if she was reassuring me that she was there for me. Meanwhile, James was sitting in his seat looking more shocked than ever. I giggled slightly and the motioned for him to come over, which he did ever so slowly.
"Wow, I-I just can't believe it, you know? It's all so real and…wow, that's my baby in there. I-I mean our baby."he put his hand over his mouth as he grinned widely.
"Just wait till he/she gets here, then it'll be really real."Aubrey joked. I laughed and was happy that she had something good to contribute to the mood.
"Amazing isn't it? Child development is one of the most beautiful things in life. That's why I love my job."Dr. Johansen smiled. "Now, who wants to hear that heart?"
I took a deep breath and waited for the nerves to come, but they didn't. I couldn't even feel nervous right now with Aubrey by my side and James here too. I watched the doctor put the doppler to my stomach and within seconds we heard it.
"Oh, man. Our baby's beating good!" James said.
"Well." Aubrey giggled. "The baby's beating well." We all looked at him and laughed at his excitement. I was glad to see him out of the shocked stage but now I was the shocked one. Nevertheless I eventually got over it and joined in the excitement. I don't know why I was so worried to have Aubrey and James come with me, I felt a lot better having them there and I think they're finally going to get along. This was truly a good day.
In the car (back to regular, from no one's pov)
As Aubrey and Stacie sat in the car making their way to Aubrey's place both girls were in relatively good moods. Aubrey was just happy to be and Stacie was happy with the way everything went. She was so lucky to have Aubrey in her life and even James in a way.
"Hey, thanks for coming with me today. It meant a lot." Stacie mentioned glancing over at the blonde.
Aubrey simply smiled and looked over at Stacie for a quick moment. "Of course, I told you I was going to be there for you. I'm going to be by your side through all of this. "
"I know you did but I just want to say thanks because not everyone is lucky enough to have someone that's like you." Stacie responded.
"I guess you're right. But don't thank me, in fact instead of thanking me just say yes to what I'm about to ask you." Aubrey paused and flashed a smile. "Since Spring Break is next month I was wondering if you'd want to come with me to family's beach house. My family and Chloe's family actually own a timeshare and Chloe and I thought it would be more fun if we brought you and Beca rather than the randoms we usually bring."
"Oh my god, hell yes I'll come with you! This is going to be so fun!"Stacie cheered.
"But, before you get to excited, I have to tell you something." Aubrey paused again and took a deep breath. "We usually have family breakfasts, BBQs and dinners a couple times during the week. So you're going to be meeting my parents. They don't exactly know that I'm, well, into girls. I usually bring a nice gentleman for them to meet but obviously not this time. I don't know how they're going to take it but I don't want to risk having them hate you before they get to know you. So I was thinking I could introduce you as my friend first and then I'll figure out a way to tell them the real news. I just really want them to like, especially my dad. He can be…well hateful." Aubrey explained. "Please don't be upset."
"Oh." Stacie sunk in her seat a little. It wasn't what she was expecting but she understood where Aubrey was coming from. As much as she didn't want it to go down like this, she knew it might be for the best for right now. And it made sense. Plus it might have been a bad mix to be introduced not only as her girlfriend but her pregnant girlfriend. "No, I'm not upset. I get it, you're family is strict and I do want them to like me so whatever we have to do, I'm in."
"Thank you so much for understanding. If I wasn't driving right now, I'd kiss you." Aubrey smiled.
"That's ok, I'll have to get used to being deprived of your lips since I'll have to 'act like your friend' for the next week." she air quoted.
"Oh, come on. Don't be like that. You'll still get plenty of these lips when my family's not around. "Aubrey winked.
Stacie smiled to herself hoping that statement would be true when the time had come.
A month later later
After a somewhat long drive of one too many are we there yet's from Stacie, they finally arrived at the beach house. They parked in front and immediately Stacie had a look of surprise. She was expecting something nice but this was much nicer than anything they could have dreamed of."Wow, this is place is beautiful." Stacie admired.
The two girls got out of the car and started unloading there things. They each grabbed their bags and walked to the front door of the house still taking in the ambiance. Aubrey opened the front door and the two of them walked inside and were surprised that no one was there yet. But Aubrey forgot that Chloe and Beca were meeting them there later and her own parents would probably be there soon. Neither of them seemed to mind that it was just them there so far though. "Well, let's unpack and then Stac, I'll give you a tour of the house." Aubrey suggested. She nodded in response as Aubrey began to go up the stairs.
"Wow, how many bedrooms are in this place?" Stacie asked in amazement.
"A lot, I honestly couldn't tell you though because they there's another small wing that has more rooms. They just built it recently.I think they add something new every year. " Aubrey shrugged as if it were nothing while Stacie stood in the middle of the hall in shock. "Well don't just stand there silly, you haven't seen nothing yet."
Stacie smiled shaking her head as she started walking again until they finally reached the room she would be staying in. "Oh, my. This is almost better than my dorm room. And there's even a King sized bed." she grinned giving Aubrey a slightly seductive look.
"Don't get any ideas, I'll be staying in the next room over because that's what friends do, remember?" Aubrey explained. "But there's a connecting door so it's not that bad."
"Yeah but girls who are friends sleep in the same bed all the time. Who am I going to cuddle with in this big, lonely bed?" Stacie said as she batted her eyes.
Aubrey playfully rolled her eyes. "You have a point there." she thought. "You have a good case, but we'll see what the judge's final verdict is later."
"Tough judge. But she's cute so I guess I'll have to be okay with whatever the verdict." Stacie giggled as she began to take things out of her suitcase and put them into the drawer.
Aubrey took that moment to do the same in the next room over. Once they were both unpacked, they went back downstairs since the majoring of the second floor was bedrooms and they weren't all that interesting. First Aubrey led Stacie to the living room which they had kind of already been in when they first arrived. Next came the kitchen, followed by the dining room and then finally the family room. Which Stacie couldn't understand the difference between the living room and family room but that was besides the point. Just when Stacie thought the tour was over, they went to the backyard which had a pool and a jacuzzi. Stacie couldn't believe this place, it was like paradise and this was just the beginning. From the backyard there was the most beautiful view of the beach anyone could ever dream of. The house wasn't directly on the beach but the view made it seem like it. "Hey how about we go take a dip in the pool?"
Stacie's eyes grew wide. "Hell yes! I'll go change right now!" she said eagerly walking away.
"Yeah, I'll go change in a bit." Aubrey hollered to the girl before she left. She looked around and made sure the girl was out of sight. Then she took out her phone and called Chloe.
A: "Hey Chlo, can I ask you something, about you and Beca?"
C:"Hey Aubs and sure what is it?"
A: "Um, do your parents know about you guys?"
C:"Oh, totes. I told them almost immediately after we became official. Do yours know?"
A:"Really? How'd you tell them? " Aubrey asked curiously. "And no they don't..."
C: "I was just honest with them like always, especially since my mom and I are really close. And one day she asked me about my relationships and I just kind of told her. Lying to her never even crossed my mind. They accepted it, they accepted me and most importantly they accepted Beca." she said "Wait, so are you going to tell them now?"
A:"I don't think I could be honest with them like that, I mean you know my father. He's very traditional and I'm just afraid that he won't take it well. My mother just wants me to be happy, she always has but she'll be on my father's side if anything." she said. "I'm not going to tell them just yet, Stacie and I are going to be acting like friends when they're around. Once I know they like her as my friend, then I'm hoping maybe it'll be easier to tell them she's my girlfriend." she explained. "So, do me a favor and don't mention anything about us being together to my parents or yours when you get here "
C:"My lips are sealed and I hope it all works out."
A:"Thanks Chloe, see you when you get here!"
After Aubrey got off the phone, she walked back into the house and decided to go get ready. When she heard the front door open followed by some voices she smiled and went towards the door and was greeted by her parents walking in. "My darling daughter, Aubrey." her mother stated greeting her with a hug. "It's been too long. We've missed you quite a bit." her father said hugging her next. Aubrey smiled at both of them. "I've missed you guys too." she responded. "Did Chloe's parents come with you guys?"
"No, Chloe didn't tell you? She's visiting them first at home and then tomorrow morning they'll both be here for breakfast. And after that, the Beales and your mother and I will be leaving." Mr. Posen explained.
"Chloe's mom and I planned a special trip for the four of us. We figured you ladies would like the house to yourselves this year." Mrs. Posen chimed in.
"Oh, really? Well that sounds good. I suppose." she wasn't sure if she should be happy about that or not. The whole plan was to use this time to let her parents get to know Stacie but if all they had was today and tomorrow morning, that wasn't much. "Why didn't you guys tell me this before? I would've brought more people."
"We thought Chloe would've told you." Mr. Posen shrugged. "Its not too late, you can still invite your acquaintances."
"But, speaking of people, how many did you bring?" Mrs. Posen asked with a sly smirk.
Aubrey gulped. "Um, just one."
"Oh, a new boyfriend? Where is this young man?" her mother took a couple steps forward looking around to see if he was anywhere in sight.
"Not exactly," Aubrey replied nervously. "I just brought a friend, and its not a boy."
"Oh, you brought one of your girlfriends, that's nice. You two must be very close then."
"Girlfriend? Wh-what, no. N-not my girlfriend. Well, y-yes my friend that's a girl." she stumbled over her words. "I know what you mean. Would you like to meet her? She was apart of the Bellas, that's how we became friends."
Mr. and Mrs. Posen exchanged puzzling looks at their nervous daughter, they both knew what could come next and they simultaneously took a step back just in case things were to get messy. "Yes, dear." her mother answered with a warm smile.
Aubrey turned around quickly and started walking towards the stairs, she prayed to God that Stacie wasn't already coming down wearing something inappropriate. Once she was at the bottom she saw Stacie making her way down and to her surprise she was decently covered up; wearing a tank top and shorts. Aubrey smiled and walked halfway to meet her. "Thank god, you're wearing clothes." she breathed.
"I mean, I had something else on, but I heard voices down here and I figured it must have been your parents so I changed." Stacie smiled
"You heard right, they're here and waiting to meet you. You know, as my friend." Aubrey replied with a nervous look on her face.
"Calm down Bree, it'll be fine. I'll make the best impression ever."Stacie added.
Aubrey smiled and nodded as the two started walking down the stairs to find that her parents had moved to a different room. They walked into the living room and saw them settling in. Aubrey cleared her throat to make their presence known. "Um, mom, dad, this is my friend Stacie Conrad. Stacie these are my parents."
Stacie smiled as she walked towards her parents. "Hi, its very nice to meet you Mr. and Mrs. Posen." she said shaking both of their hands.
"Pleasure to meet you too." Mrs. Posen responded.
"Yes likewise, Ms. Conrad." Mr. Posen said.
"We'd love to get to know you more, how about we all go out to eat?" Mrs. Posen suggested.
Aubrey had a nervous look on her face, but before she could say anything Stacie spoke up. "That would be lovely."
"Great. We'll leave in about ten minutes. I'm going to go freshen up." Mr. Posen said.
At the restaurant
The four of them were gathered around a table, Aubrey and Stacie on one side and her parents on the other at a casual but expensive restaurant. So far everything was going smoothly and her parents didn't suspect a thing. The only thing out of the ordinary was that Aubrey was oozing nervousness. It was almost as if she could puke any minute but they were all hoping it wouldn't happen. Every so often Stacie would discreetly rub Aubrey's leg trying to calm her down but it seemed even that wasn't helping. Stacie was trying to figure out why she was so nervous, it seemed like her parents were enjoying her company so far.
"So, Stacie, Aubrey told us you were apart of the Bellas as well. How's that experience been for you?" Mrs. Posen asked.
Stacie immediately smiled as all the memories from her first year as a Bella. This first year of college probably wouldn't have been the same had she not joined the group. "I've had a wonderful experience being a Bella. It was definitely something new for me, especially A capella but once I was in, I was enjoying every moment of it. A lot of that is thanks to Aubrey. She really put a lot of work into it and it wouldn't have been nearly as fun without her." she smiled. "Its unfortunate that she'll be graduating this year but its definitely been an experience I'll never forget."
"That's very nice of you to say Stacie, but I think it was a group effort that made it a good experience. " Aubrey chimed in a a slight blush spread across her cheeks.
"Nonsense, Aubrey. Don't sell yourself short. Take credit for your hard work." Stacie said.
"You should listen to your friend, she says good things." Mr. Posen stated. "You know what I always say,-"
"Yes, of course. No need to say it." Aubrey smiled slightly knowing her father only said that because those were often words that he said to her. "I suppose you're right."
"Of course he's right, he's your father." Mrs. Posen mentioned. "Now, Stacie, what field of work will you be entering after graduation which happens to be right the corner?"
"Oh, um actually I'm a freshman, or freshwoman." she joked. "So, I'll be starting my second year in the fall but I plan on taking a couple classes during the summer as well. I still haven't decided what I want to do with my life but I figured as long as I'm in school, I'm making progress."
"I would have never suspected that you were only a freshman, you seem so mature. No wonder we've never met you before." Mrs. Posen noted. "Being undecided isn't bad, and it sounds like you're on a good path. Best of luck with your future endeavors."
Aubrey smiled contently, normally her parents would have taken that chance to morally degrade someone had they been in college not knowing what they wanted to do but to her surprise they didn't have anything but good words for Stacie. Things weren't going too bad and it gave her hope that it wouldn't be so bad when she finally told her parents the truth. They seemed t like her and it might have helped that Stacie wasn't exactly being her normal, provocative self, not that she expected her to be like that always. She was being appropriate and her word selection was the icing on the cake.
That night, at the house
Stacie was laying on her bed, scrolling through social networks on her phone when she heard someone coming through the connecting door. When she looked it up, it was no surprise when she saw Aubrey at the foot of the bed smiling at her. "What?" she asked curiously/
"Nothing." she shook her head and moved to sit on the edge of the bed. "Has anyone ever told you that you were amazing? Because you are. Today went really good and I think my parents really liked you."
"Maybe a few times but...you know." the brunette responded cockily. "I told you, you had nothing to worry about. I was afraid you were going to blow chunks at the table though."
Aubrey sighed. "I guess I'm not very good at hiding the nervousness, huh?"
Stacie smiled slightly, and moved to the edge of the bed next to Aubrey to comfort her. "No, but you're good at basically everything else in the world, so its ok."
"I suppose but I was nervous for a reason."she sighed. "I talked to Chloe on the phone earlier and she told that she had told her parents about her and Beca a long time ago. I asked how, and she said she was just honest with them. And then she asked if I was going to tell my parents and then I told her our plan. But since talking to her, I just feel like this has been a bad idea to act like we're friends." she admitted. "I don't want you to feel like I'm ashamed to be with you because I'm not."
Stacie was a little taken back by this sudden confession but nonetheless tried to say something good in response. "But I told you, I was okay with the plan. So I couldn't kiss you, or hug you or touch you intimately all day, its one day. I'll survive . You said it yourself that your parents can be a little un-accepting. I'm willing to do whatever it is so that they will. For us."
"I know and I appreciate that but still I just feel like not being honest with them is worse. But at the same time, I don't really know how to tell them so I'm stuck at a cross road." she sighed placing her face in her hands.
"Just don't think about it too much, we just have to get through tomorrow and then we get the rest of break, just you and me." Stacie said wrapping her arms around Aubrey and kissing the side of her head.
"You're right. I knew there was a reason I loved you so much." Aubrey smiled and placed a passionate kiss on Stacie's lips.
"I would hope so." she giggled. "Gosh, I missed your lips." the younger girl groaned.
"Then, let's get reacquainted." Aubrey whispered pushing Stacie back onto the bed connecting their lips in a steamy kiss. Their lips parted as they began to explore each others mouths. Both girls were hungry for each other but they also knew this wasn't the time.
Stacie pulled away for a moment, speaking between heavy breaths. "Friends don't do this remember. As much as I want to continue, we have all of break to."
"You're right, again." Aubrey placed one last peck on her lips before she got off the bed and started walking to her room.
"Wait, I thought you were going to sleep here? Friends can sleep in the same bed."
Aubrey playfully rolled her eyes. "Fine." she smiled as she walked back to the bed and slipped under the covers along with Stacie. "Goodnight love."
"Sweet dreams, baby." Stacie said as she snuggled up the Aubrey's side.
Well, this was like all over the place. I don't really like how it came out but I didn't want to have to write it in two separate chapters because they would have been short and crappy but now its one long crappiness. But oh whale I guess. I just needed to get this out. I've literally been excited to write this next chapter for like 5ever.
Anyway, please read, and review! Questions, comments, concerns are encouraged!
Also, I've gotten more tumblr submissions which I really appreciate but I've just been eager lately to write this fic, I haven't even had time to think about the prompts. I will get to them! So, be on the lookout! Or even submit some more, I'll even take suggestions for this fic too if ya want! tumblr user: tripletkashiet
