A Moment for Two
Carol has always hated Mondays, well obviously variety of people hate the first day of the week. It was quite one of those days where the woman had to worry about bills, finances, work, especially having to write numerous letters for her job, anywho- for her boss at the furniture store and for party events. She knew that today was a day where she had to start fresh but without Therese around, it made her deeply sorrow of distress since her girlfriend isn't usually here with her. She wasn't used to this, especially when it was oh-so quiet in her apartment without Therese.
It was 11:23 p.m. and although, Carol knew that she hated Mondays but for today, she absolutely felt fond of it today since her loving daughter was coming over. She was glad to spend some quality time with Rindy on occasions and it made her feel like a mother again. The one she prospected to be. She was quite alarmed to hear from Harge since she obviously thought he was over her. I mean, I guess a man can't get over a woman he used to love, an independent woman in-fact who is long from away to be in love with a man since she is distant to have a lovely woman take care for her. Although, Carol was quite sorrow in distress about not having Therese keep her company which was a bit new to her. She felt blue that she hasn't heard from her angel. She was a bit crestfallen to realize that Therese wouldn't be there with she and Rindy for a short reunion. But Carol was still astonished to see the other girl she loved.
Carol was urgent to get papers, bills, and other things that were highly important straighten up since it was quite a clutter in her apartment from all of those damn newspapers, damn letters, and damn furniture moved around a bit. She quickly grasped dozens of paper in her hand as she tossed them into a drawer full of other bills and letters that didn't mean much to her. The audacity of her lover made her feel potentially jittery at some point. At last, she knew that Therese was fine. She was completely positive about having those thoughts about her since she wasn't there to spend time with her nor the both of them. As soon as Carol got everything straighten up, she heard a car pull in from the building as she panted heavily, dabbing her forehead with her wrist as she made a position with her hips that was a sign of thorning in her own flesh. She immediately plops herself onto the brown vintage textile fabric couch. She pulled out a magazine full of underlying advertisements that was meant to be called for, phone numbers with payments in the, events, especially luxurious hotels. Many things were quite pleasing to see since she felt amazed about some of those resorts but it couldn't hurt a bit if she actually stepped foot into a self-contained property.
From the meanwhile, there was an impartial audible knock on her front door which made her look straight away and swiftly get up from preventing herself from tripping a step since she had her heels on which occasionally she can cooperate with those inconvenient shoes that may which she despise. She hasted over to the door after pacing nervously, as she swivels the doorknob opening it with a glance which first made eye contact with her daughter then Harge. She felt Rindy's small body jump on her mother with excitement, with her miniature hands crawl up Carol's back along from her maneuvered dress she was wearing as the little girl shouted, "Mommy!" Carol caught her, lifting her with her grasp and weight along from her legs wrapped around her mother's hips.
"Oh hello, my darling!" Carol kissed the top of Rindy's forehead with a soft peck before turning to Harge afterwards. "I've missed you too much, snowflake."
Harge, as pure usual looking dispassionate with those solemn expressions which was apart of him as he met eyes with Carol before leaving the apartment, taking one last glimpse at Rindy without breaking his gaze. "Where's shop girl?" Carol huffed out a exasperating breath of annoyance and ignorance without turning her head to Harge, keeping them on her daughter.
"It's Therese, Harge. And quit calling her that for god sakes, she's working this afternoon." Carol made a bitter face but sure sounded neutral but her emotion and voice said it all. "Show a little respect."
"Fine. Therese," Harge scoffed. Looking back at Rindy with a small gaze. "I'll see you in the meantime, sunshine. Be good with your mother."
Rindy nodded, briskly. Slouching innocently onto the sofa as she had a chocolate chip cookie in her hand, savoring it with a sharp stare into it as she looked at it with exhilaration without taking another bite, the crumbs she were creating as chocolate spread and reek along from her fingers as Carol made a face towards her after watching Harge leave.
"Oh, Rindy, darling-" Carol said as she had a distressing - briefing expression grow onto the blonde woman's face as she threw her hands over her head with hesitation. "- Look at your hands, you have chocolate everywhere. Let's get you cleaned up," Carol immediately grabbed Rindy her her sides, thumbs under her armpits that was hovering from her coat which made the little girl giggle mercilessly.
Carol swiftly rushes and sprints over towards the kitchen, leaning against the counter of the sink along from Rindy as she washed her hands, soaking it with a bubbles of soap and smiles broadly behind the back of Rindy's head. "Did daddy give you that cookie, Rindy?" Carol asked her, as an eyebrow arched. Scrubbing those grubby smudged hands with chocolate and parts of hints with cookie crumbs.
"Yes," A small voice answered Carol, as she went on again, "He said, 'If I don't put my scrubs on, then I wouldn't get a cookie'."
Carol's head threw back as she bursts out a small chuckle. "So you bribed your father into making him give you a cookie?" she asked. With a possessive act.
"What does that mean, mommy?" Rindy was probably a bit too young to know what the word 'bribe' meant but especially at such a young age, she still had to study her words that frequently made her confused occasionally.
"Nevermind it, Rindy. But what made you give your father such a hard time in putting your shoes on?"
"Scrubs make my feet hurt. I don't like them." Rindy sounded exactly how Carol would say that small phrase but you know, after all she did get the speaking part from her mother which was a surprise for Carol to notice it after all these years.
Carol just nods and hums in agreement as her eyes dilate for a moment. She quickly turns the sink off and places the drainer back onto the bottom. As Carol wiped Rindy's hand clean, she held her by her hand and guided her towards the Livingroom and sat her down, as she helped slip off her uncomfortable shoes that now seem to make her feel more comfy without them on. She set the scrubs down aside from somewhere in the apartment, planting one last kiss forward toward her daughter's forehead as she sat down beside from her, as she rested her arm that was wrapped around Rindy. Carol didn't know what to say or do, but she might've thought that Rindy would've mentioned or even realize that Therese wasn't here which made Carol even solemn.
"Mommy, did you take that picture?" Rindy had her eyes focused onto a frame with flowers, a blue sky, and importantly with nature in it that made her question her mother. Carol's eyebrow furrowed as she felt startled by that question, gazing almost at the same thing her daughter was staring at, caressing her back.
"Um, no, well. I didn't."
"Then who did?"
Carol was startled by Rindy's questions again that made her let out a soft sigh. She wasn't sure wether to even mention her lover's name which would make things a bit complicated, but hopefully she thought, she'd understand.
"Do you remember Therese?"
"The photograph lady?" Rindy asked, as she made her mother's frown turn into a smile that curved her red lips.
"Yes," Carol grinned, with an interval expression that was almost a small laugh. "Exactly."
Carol noticed she begun to refresh Rindy's memory as she notices that her small lips turned into a smile as well. "Yeah, she was really nice." Rindy stated, looking up at her mother.
"I think so too." Carol was beginning to overcome those thoughts that flourished in, restraining herself to not talk a lot about her since this was a day with her daughter and she knew that Rindy would never forget about someone so charming.
"Where is she?" Rindy asks, as her eyebrows furrowed, eyes directly into her mothers with an innocent tone.
"Sweet pea, why don't you play with your toys. There all in the other room, do you want me to help you-"
Rindy immediately interrupts her mother without herself finishing her sentence, "No, it's okay, mommy. I got it." Rindy got up from the couch and rushes over towards the room with full of her toys, children books, and usually gameboards she'd never play but if it were to be all three of them, then it would be mostly convenient for them.
The blonde woman smiles broadly, as she watches the little one rush over towards the other room. Carol got up and stretched herself out a bit, keeping her hands steady from her hips, pacing back and forth. Speaking of Therese, she heard her telephone ring from the coffee table of the edge that was settled there, picking it up swiftly, hoping that it was her lover. "Therese?" Carol couldn't say much but her name on the phone. She has always thought about it wondered why Therese was never there on those good days to spent time with she and Rindy would just be expeditiously lovely for her. That's exactly all she would want. A family.
"Carol!" The deep elation in the woman's voice lingered over the phone was content that it even made Carol smile deeper than she ever has.
"Oh, it's good to hear your voice," Carol said with a sigh of relief.
"I miss you."
"I miss you too, my love." Carol's voice hitched, as she smiled between saying those words and hearing them.
"How is everything going over there?" Therese asked her, before turning back to work since she was on break for quite a while.
Carol breathed in as she wrapped her finger around the cord. "It's quite well. Rindy came by and I am pleased to see her after five months."
"That's wonderful to hear!"
"It is really, although she did question me about that photo you took that was hung above the living room,"
"What'd she say?" Therese asked.
"She just asked me if I took that shot and I mentioned to her that you did. It's so lovely that she even remembers you... and she even referred you as the photograph lady."
Therese let out a small laugh as she felt content about Carol and what she had to tell her. "What else?" she asks.
"Not much, really. I just wish that you were here. Especially with Rindy and I." Carol's tone started to soften as her voice cracked lightly. "That'd be lovely, if she saw you again."
"Me too.. but don't worry, I'll be home soon." Therese reassured Carol, as she had that calm soothing voice that lingered over the phone. Carol felt radiant, especially if she hears her lovers voice again. It was all she wanted since it's been hours they've talked.
"Mommy?" A soft voice glistened from behind, as Carol heard her name get called.
"Darn, Rindy needs me. I'll talk to you later, sweetheart."
"That's okay, I should really get back to work." Therese said before hanging up.
"You do that while I take care of Rindy. I love you, my angel."
"I love you too, Carol. I'll see you soon." Therese waited 'till Carol hung up since she never liked the idea of slamming the phone shut first. It made her anxious, many things did.
"You too. Goodbye." Carol gently hangs the phone up as she sets the telephone back where it was before turning to her daughter.
The blonde woman turned to her and asked. "Rindy, what happens to be the problem?" She approached her daughter slowly.
"Who was that on the phone?"
Carol let out a soft sigh as she walked toward Rindy, "No one, sweetheart. Just come sit and play with your toys." Carol reassured her, grabbing Rindy by her hand since she had a doll and a toy train that grasped into her other hand, guiding her over to the couch.
"Was it Therese?"
Carol's eyes scintillated as she looked at the little girl, wrapping her arm around Rindy's lower back, "Yes. Yes it was Therese. She was just letting me know that she misses me, and that she is awfully amazed to see you soon." Carol noticed the exhilaration that grew into Rindy's face since her expressions said it all; that she was content to hear about Therese, and on how she loved the way she talks about her. It always made her smile since Rindy loved Therese. Sure, she didn't know much about her relationship with Carol, but no matter what-for-ever reason she had to commit, she'd still love Therese and her mother with all her heart.
"She is!?" Rindy, briskly amused by her mother's words.
"Yes, she is, Rindy." Carol rubbed her daughter's back as she smiled, as soon as she felt Rindy's small hands along from her arms wrap around her the blonde woman's body, leaning her head against her mother's side as Carol held her, smiling very blithely.
Carol was happy, she was amused to see her daughter's exhilaration build more into her and it made Carol less sorrow since she saw how excited Rindy was to see Therese after those long gone five months they've haven't spent together.
5:56 p.m. On Madison Ave, apartment 1646
Carol was still up and adam 'till those past hours she's spent with Rindy. Of course, Rindy was still there with Carol keeping her some company that she savored. Carol watched her daughter nap peacefully on the couch beside her, as they stayed up for those past six hours, watching soaps and Carol telling fantasy stories to Rindy that made her fall asleep easier. Rindy's body was curled up beside Carol's side as her mother wrapped her arm around her as long from a blanket, hovered over Rindy's body, snuggled comfortably. She herself, Carol, was thrilled to see that Rindy enjoyed her time with her mother and it made Carol officially quilted about their relationship. She caressed Rindy's soft voluminous brown hair that almost fit Carol's whole hand that she brushed and ran across soothingly. Having a moment alone with her daughter was always a blast and she would give up anything for her daughter to be happy, especially if it came to Therese; she knew how much the little one would be eager to see her.
The blonde woman whom slouched and felt constipated, she was a little exhausted, keeping her eyes onto the t.v with a huff that she blew. She noticed Rindy whimpering and moving stiffly in her sleep, as she tugged the blanket, switching sides beside her mother. "It's okay, it's okay," Carol reassured her in her sleep, as she leaned down to kiss the top of her head, caressing her hair backward for her to stay deeply asleep. Carol remembered her motherhood times mostly with Rindy and Harge. Those doubting memories she's always had nightmares for especially if it came to Harge, she didn't enjoy such a fatiguing life with her ex-husband. Although, the moments with Rindy has always made her feel like a mother she could've always been. Looking after her, feeding, enjoying had last moments with her before she was all grown up. It has always made her think what life would be without Rindy again, and she felt it before.
As soon as Carol hushed her daughter into going back to sleep, she spaced out a bit and wrapped the floral burly-sided blanket around Rindy, slightly positioning her. After she sat up, straightening herself up, she crossed her legs, folding her hands against her lap, eyes still locked onto the tv as she smiled, watching a ridiculous sitcom that made her laugh hysterically without breaking her stare off the television set. After a meanwhile, Carol heard the outside of the apartment with footsteps and heavy sauntering as the front door creak, knob intertwine, as the door budged open as the hinges rasped. She gasps softly, as she quickly turns her head toward the door that was slightly open.
"Carol? I'm home." That voice that appealed to the blonde woman's ears that was familiar making her smile after she heard her name get called that was almost a shout. Therese was just getting in, unsystematically as she forced the key out of the doorknob, twisting and turning it before she got in and barged into the living room to see her lover. She even had bags of groceries, and her tedious purse that only hung from her shoulder to her waist, entering the apartment room. Carol got up on her feet, immediately as she heard the brunette call. Before she walked towards Therese, kissed Rindy's forehead, rubbing her back. She then scurried over to her partner, panting heavily as she tried to hide her enthusiasm about seeing her girlfriend come home after a long day at work, but knew that she was thrilled to see Therese's groggy face after work.
"Therese, sweetheart, you didn't have to buy groceries. It must've been exhausting afterwards, love." Carol took the two grocery bags from Therese's hands, before leaving, giving her lover a quick peck on her lips as in a 'thank you for buying groceries honey'. Therese grinned weakly, staggering a bit from her vintage mint green shoes as she slips them off. What she hated the most about the heels were the damn heels in them, but the style of them were engaging.
Therese shut the door, as she walked behind Carol toward the kitchen, noticing Rindy afterwards. A smile curved her lips as she saw that Rindy was fallen asleep onto the couch, snuggled into a blanket. It was a shame that Rindy couldn't see Therese especially when she's finally here. And Therese was a bit sad to not see Rindy so ecstatic about her coming home, but eventually she wished to see her wake up to greet her. Therese made it to the kitchen where Carol was, leaning against the kitchen counter, stretching her stiff bones and muscles that made her even weaker. "I didn't think Rindy would still be here," Therese mentioned, as she grinned between those words.
Carol looked at her with a smile that glistened between them, then returning to the grocery bags that was set onto the counter. "Yes, well, she's been here for quite a while now. It was nice to spend some quality time with her. Something I was distant to do in such awhile. But.. Although, I didn't hear from Harge recently so that seems odd." Carol explained, as Therese watched her with a solemn neutral face.
Therese walked forward and approached behind her, as Carol got the items out of the bags before turning to Therese. The brunette gently wraps her arms around Carol's hips, as she slithers her hands around her front, roaming her hands around the smoothness of the blonde's blouse as she noticed it was partly a beautiful floral dress. "Are you happy?" Therese's soft voice asked, from behind as Carol heard the other woman's question, as an eyebrow furrowed slightly.
"Of course," Carol smiles, resting her hand against Therese's, rubbing her knuckles gradually that was wrapped around her stomach, "I'm more than happy, now that you're here. Especially with Rindy, she'd be thrilled to see you." Carol exclaimed.
"I'm glad." Therese says, her grasp became tighter around Carol's body, as she rested her head against the woman's back. Carol grins, lips arcuate, as she turned her head but not necessarily to Therese.
Carol looked down at the dinner and ingredients Therese has brought home that she obviously recognized from the top of her head. "I haven't had a casserole in ages," Carol looked at the packing and ingredients that made her realize that they were cooking a Casserole for dinner, apparently.
"How'd you know?" Therese immediately moved her head from Carol's back and looked at her sideways as she tilted her head, to look at her lover's side eye.
"I know when I see Shepherd's pie, darling." Carol stated confidently as she laid the ingredients out on the counter, then turning to her angel that she met eyes with, grinning ear to ear. Carol always adored the fact of Therese being a small short lovely woman in the relationship regardless if Carol was always in heels. She has enjoyed Therese having a place to bury her head in especially the crook her Carol's neck. It was always enjoyable to see her darling tiptoe on her feet whenever she tries to kiss her. After Carol turned herself towards the shorter woman, she wrapped her arms around her hips, gently using her thumb to rub her sides as she smiles, lightly pinching the skin of Therese's waists through her fabric coat.
As Therese deeply glared into her blue pale eyes, smiling unnoticedly, as she ran her hands through Carol's forearm with both hands, feeling the touch of silk that cottoned her clothing. Carol then without any warning, approached the girls lips gently in a soothing pace, as she locked lips with the other woman, who had an affectionate feeling for as long from cohabitating. Carol tugged her waists closer towards her, deepening the pure kiss, along from Therese, running her hands down Carol's arms, rubbing them as she tended to induce her. Therese always loved that feeling against Carol, especially if it wasn't near her lips, she always enjoyed the fragrance of her perfume and that loving scent she has that only plastered the blonde's collarbone. Her touch and closeness between her body always intoxicated.
The brunette then tiptoed, so that Carol didn't always have to lean down and tilt her head for her but Therese rested her hands on top against Carol's shoulders, slowly pulling away from Carol's sultry lips before tugging onto it afterwards as she felt close to her. She was, both of them facing each other as their faces were close to one another, looking into each others eyes as Therese pecked the blonde woman on her chin, moving her head towards Carol's collarbone as she buries her face into her the silk fabric of her shirt, before the other woman pulled the brunette back into the kiss.
Afterwards, once Therese rested her head against Carol's shoulder, Carol caressed her brown conciliatory hair. Meanwhile, Carol then felt a hitch in the back of her throat, grabbing the other woman by her forearm, using her other hand to cup her cheek to look at her angel who had eyes shut but as soon as she felt Carol's touch she swiftly looks at the other woman that she was held into her grasp. Carol then smiled, bringing her back into the kiss, gently nudging her against the counter, hands cupping her face as she pecked her lips, feeling Therese's hands wrap around her sides along from the back of her backbone.
"Mommy?"
Carol swiftly turns, pulling away from Therese's lips as she met eyes with her daughter, eyes a bit groggy from that long nap, messy hair all over the place as she wrapped the blanket tighter around her small body, standing just at the entrance of the kitchen as she finally laid eyes with Therese, smiling cheerfully. Therese then made eye contact with her, as she shyly flashes a smile. Carol knew exactly what her little girl was going to do once she noticed Therese, hovering beside Carol's grip.
Rindy quickly drops the blanket that was swaddled from her tiny body, sprinting towards Therese. Carol watched her daughter, with excitement and joy that radiated around her. The energy was affectionate that she was actually chuffed to see her. It was one of Carol's delightful things to ever see in her daughter. "Therese!" Rindy ran into Therese's arms, wrapping her small arms around Therese's legs, reaching for her waists as Therese knelt down and hugged her, hands tangled in her short hair as she pressed her against her shoulder. Therese was happy, seeing Rindy happy made both women exhilarated and it was very amusing for Therese to see Carol's daughter again. Carol loved the way her daughter was so caring for Therese. It almost made her shed a tear in a heartbeat. Carol stood there, watching the two people she loved show affection towards each other. She'd literally do anything in the world for the both of them to be happy. That's all she wanted.
