Heyo! I've been slacking with my main fanfic right now so to make up for it heres a one-shot that I wrote a little while ago. It takes place right before Trolls World Tour. Enjoy!
Branch was having a rough day. Cloud Guy broke into his bunker again, and he was not taking it today. He couldn't. He was already in a bad mood and this was the last thing he needed.
Though, he underestimated how angry he truly was. A few things ended up...broken. He may or may not have a bit of a tantrum after his unwelcomed encounter with cloud guy.
He walked through the village to get some fresh air. He really needed it. He had his hands shoved in his pockets as he muttered some untroll-like words under his breath.
He continued with his walk when he heard it. The voice of the most beautiful girl he had ever laid eyes on.
Poppy.
He stood and stared as the Queen gave her speech to the village. He loved the way she spoke, with confidence and cheer. How she always seemed to have a little bounce in her step. He especially loved her smile. He admired her from afar before snapping out of it.
Come on Branch. She only thinks of you as her best friend. He thought to himself. Out of frustration he kicked a nearby rock.
"Ouch!" He cried. That rock was a lot heavier than it looked.
He held his foot as he muttered more swears.
"Branch?" Asked a concerned Biggie as he walked over with the snack pack.
Great.
"Im fine" He mumbled through his clenched teeth.
"Are you sure?" Smidge asked. "You don't seem fine."
Branch sighed. These were his friends. He shouldn't take his anger out on them.
"I've just been having a bad day. I trashed my bunker because of how mad I got and now I still have that to clean up."
"We can help you." Satin and Chenillie said at the same time.
"No guys, really its fine. Its my responsibility not yours." He began walking towards his bunker away from the group when he heard footsteps following behind him. "What are you guys doing? I said I don't need your help."
"We're not taking no for an answer Branch." Satin responded.
He sighed. He could never win with them. What happened to him? When had he become so soft? Oh yeah, that was Poppy's fault too. Why does she have to be so perfect?
"Uh, Branch? You okay there? You zoned out for like... 5 minutes."
"Huh? Yeah. Just... come on" He motioned for them to follow and walked back towards his home. Poppy had been invading his thoughts a lot lately.
They stopped asking questions and followed him. They made it to the outside and Branch lead them down the elevator.
"You were not kidding when you said you trashed the place." Guy pointed out.
"Yeah... I know." Branch scratched the back of his head feeling slightly embarrassed. "I still gotta work through some of my anger issues." There was scattered paper all over the place, broken jars, chairs flipped over onto their side. Branch was ashamed. Seeing his saddened look the snack pack wrapped their friend in an embrace.
"Its okay Branch. We're here to help." Satin assured. The rest of the snack pack nodded in agreement.
"Thank you"
They began picking things up. Branch lost track of the amount of times he had to scold everyone to stop snooping through his stuff.
"Im sorry Branch! You just have so many things!" Smidge said.
"Just, dont touch anything else please." He turned around to pick up some broken jars.
"Branch? Whats this?" Biggie asked in a smug tone.
Branch turned around and to his horror saw Biggie holding up an invitation Poppy had made for him years ago.
"Ahh its nothing! Nothing, dont touch that." He scrambled quickly to the curtains and closed them as if it would make them forget what they saw.
"Did you save all of Poppy's invitations? All those years we thought you were breaking them? You saved them all?" Smidge exitedly said.
Branch's face was bright red. "Yes! I-I mean no! No I..."
"He did! Look at him, he's even blushing!" Chenillie pointed out.
Biggie gasped. "Branch... do you have a crush on Poppy?!"
"Wh-what? Psh. No. No I do not." Branch didn't sound the least bit convincing. His flustered features weren't being much of a help.
"He totally does!" Cooper laughed.
Smidge reopened the curtains and pulled out an invitation, along with a poem he had written for Poppy.
"HEY! Give that back!" Branch cried.
"Oh my God! This is from years ago Branch!" She gasped, this time even louder than Biggie. "This is bigger than a crush guys... you're in love with her Branch! Admit it! You are!"
Branch sank down to the ground. He wrapped his hands around his knees and rested his head on them. He groaned and listened as the group exchanged excited cheers and gaspd.
"FINE I AM IN LOVE WITH POPPY BUT YOU CAN'T TELL HER OKAY?"
They went silent.
"Oh, we're not gonna tell her Branch" Satin started.
"Because you are." Chenillie finished.
"What?! Are you crazy!? I can't tell Poppy that I love her to her face! Thats my best friend and I'll just make things weird." He sank down lower into himself.
"And this do you know that she doesn't feel the same way?" Asked Biggie.
"Um I dunno, maybe because she calls me her friend like 24/7."
"Well you call her your friend too. How do you know she's not trying to hide it?"
"I-" Branch froze. No. There was no way that the queen liked him back. That the queen loved him back. That was impossible.
"Think about it Branch" Guy started. "She hangs out with you more than she hangs out with anybody. There's hardly ever a time where you two aren't together."
"Yeah and when you guys sang 'I love you' to eachother in the pot. That didn't look very platonic to me." Smidge added.
Branch was now thinking hard. "No, there's no way that Poppy loves me like that."
"Theres only one way to find out." The twins spoke in unision. They both held out a hand to help Branch up. They finished cleaning up the bunker and Branch thanked the snack pack as he waved goodbye. He had a lot to think about.
Could Poppy really love me? He thought.
He started ranting to himself out loud. "Maybe I should just tell her. Even if she doesn't feel the same at least she'll know. But then things will be weird. I shouldn't do it. Maybe these feeling will just go away? Yeah sure Branch. Like 7 years of being in love with the same person could just go away." She laid his head down on his desk in frustration. Pull it together.
Brainstorming usually helped calm his nerves. Maybe he could write himself a script on what he would say to her. He began writing.
Hey Poppy. Theres something I've been meaning to tell you...
The next morning Branch awoke to beautiful sound which could only be heard as Poppy's singing.
Cause trolls they wanna have fun!
Yeah trolls just wanna have
He listened to her voice and heard as the other villagers start harmonizing with their queen. He layed with his hands behind his head in bed while wearing his favorite green robe. He remembered the time where Poppy had scared him cauing him to spill coffee on that same robe. Continuing to listen to her sing, Branch tapped his feet to the rhythm, feeling his own song coming on as he looked over the the picture of him and Poppy marked as "Nothing important!"
Right after that last lart would be where Branch starts singing about how he wants to confess to Poppy in Trolls World Tour.If you guys have any ideas for more one-shots I will gladly take them. That way there is more stuff for you huys to read while you wait for me to update my main fic. Anyways thanks so much for reading!
