Prologue:

She crouched down with her infant in her arms, praying that the alpha would just leave them alone. Scooting closer into the crawl space she kissed her infant's head whispering, "Don't ever be afraid I will always be with you." The protective mother materialized her blade and drew her daughter's blood. After chanting the ritual the blade disappeared with the new bond it created with the infant. Giving the child one more kiss to her forehead she crawled out of the hiding spot and tiptoad down the hall.

A loud crash erupted from down stairs, making the mother jump. "Duma, you can't hide her forever!" The male voice bellowed throughout the house. Duma crouched down and slipped off her clothes. She wouldn't need them after all. As she reached the end of the hall her form began to change. She became the thing she was cursed with. To many it might seem like a normal pet, Duma was anything but. Her sleek form made its way down the stairs and to the door of the house.

Drawing her lips back in a snarl, she burst through the door and let out a bark that would certainly reach the ears of her enemy. Her claws gripped the dirt beneath her and thrusted her forward. She smiled as she heard the claws of another behind her. He had fallen for it. She didn't think he would. She almost halted to a stop with the relief that her child would be safe, but she wouldn't make it easier for her pursuer to catch her. She needed to be as far away from the house as she could.

She didn't make it much farther when her enemy caught up with her. With gnashing of teeth she lashed out in an attempt to free herself, but she knew it was too late for her. The two fury bodies fought until the mother died with one last bite to the throat. As her blood seeped onto the pavement she was thankful that her daughter would be safe. She was the only thing that would be able to keep her future charges safe. God help the world if her daughter didn't make it to those boys. The boys that would start the end of the world but ultimately save it.

The harley quinn great dane sneaked into the house quietly. Listening for the sounds of his niece, he made his way up the stairs and into the room at the end of the hall. Hearing a whimper from the crawl space behind the bed he squeezed his body into it. He pulled his lips back into a canine smile at the sight before him. His niece was already able to change into her skinwalker form.

And by the looks of her, right now she was a Dachshund. Morphing into his human form he pulled on the clothes his sister Duma had left for him. "It's okay Althea. I'm here to take care of you." He scooped the little weiner dog up and made his way out of the house. He was thankful for the form she had taken, it would be less suspicious to see a grown man taking a little Dachshund out of an abandoned house, rather than an eight month old baby. He kissed the top of the puppy's head and left the house behind them.

Althea Arabella shot up when the locks on the doors to the house clicked. They were finally home. She had been waiting for 5 days for them to get back with the bundle of joy. Her whole purpose was to look out for him and his future brother. Her claws clicked on the hardwood surface as she reached the door and waited for them to enter. She couldn't help but whimper in anticipation as the door slowly opened and John stepped into the house. "Hey Bella." John said in excitement as she jumped up and licked all over his face.

She quite liked this form, because she could reach the man's face when she stood on her hindlegs. John patted the blue merle great dane until she fell back down. "Alright Bella, calm down or momma can't bring Dean inside." John said, massaging her ears. She sighed through her nose as John kept petting her. She preferred to be called Thea in human form but had no say in what she was called in her skinwalker form.

Bella's head snapped to the door when Mary's scent filled her nostrils. She hopped from foot to foot in anticipation. John patted her butt to make her sit and she did. She almost leaped from the spot she was in when Mary came into full view carrying a bundle in her arms. She whimpered again, her way of saying come here. She didn't want to bark for fear of waking the newborn up. Mary smiled at her and knelt beside John. She dipped her arms lower so Bella could see the baby.

Bella laid her head on Mary's knee and took in the scent that was Dean Winchester. She licked her chops with excitement. "Bella, this is Dean." Mary said, in that soft voice Thea always loved. Oh how she wished she could change form and hold Dean. She almost did when those green eyes eased open. He was beautiful and Thea was overjoyed that she got to see this. "Mary, why don't you go lay down with Dean and Bella and I will start supper." John said, kissing his wife on her cheek. She nodded and headed up the stairs with Dean close to her chest.

Thea sighed as she laid down on her bed. The day had been wonderful, she finally met her first charge. She couldn't wait to meet her second. As she was about to drift off she heard faint noise from upstairs. If it weren't for her good hearing she would never have heard it. Getting up from her bed and stretching she made her way quietly up the stairs. She padded down the hallway and into Dean's nursery. He was awake and fumbling his way around the crib.

Thea smiled, this would be her only chance to hold him. Changing out of her skinwalker form she tiptoed over to her hidy whole and grabbed a pair of her clothes. Slipping them on she stepped closer to Dean's bed. "Hey there, Dean." She said quietly as she picked him up. He gurgled and smiled at her as she rocked him back and forth. "You are very important, you know. You're gonna grow up and do great things. I promise." She kept rocking him back and forth until he fell asleep in her arms.

"Goodnight, Dean." Thea said, laying him back in the crib. She changed back into her skinwalker form Bella and grasped her clothes in her jaws and hid them back. Making her way down the stairs she reached the bottom and curled up in her dog bed.

Thea yawned as she stretched her legs. Time to wake them up. She thought as she glanced at the clock that they kept in the living room. She padded up the stairs and headed down the hall. She glanced in Dean's room to make sure he was alright. After seeing that he was still asleep she headed down to John and Mary's room. She laughed quietly to herself as John's snores reached her ears. She didn't know how Mary slept through the racket. Counting to three in her head she jumped up onto the bed and shoved John off the side.

He grunted as he hit the floor, "Bella, come on." John exclaimed as he sat up, rubbing his butt. Thea gave him a toothy grin and made him laugh. "I still don't understand how you can smile." John said, pulling himself to his feet and heading over to Mary's side of the bed. "Mary, sweetie wake up." John said, as he nudged her awake. "Why don't you wake her up like you wake me?" John asked, glancing at Bella. She just huffed and walked out of the room.

Thea sighed as she made her way slowly to the kitchen. Her great dane form was getting old. She needed to put her to rest today. She always hated doing that. She already had to do it once already to the Winchesters. She used to be a german shepherd, but that was when John was still dating Mary. It was always so heartbreaking to feel the loss her owners felt. And now she would have to do it when Dean was only three.

Thea shook her head lightly and headed back to the living room where John was currently playing hot wheels with Dean. "Bella!" Dean said, his smile growing even bigger. Thea slowed down and laid beside Dean, nuzzling his hand. He brought it up to her head and smoothed her ears back. She sighed in comfort and laid her head in his tiny little lap. "Bella?" Dean asked, there was worry in his voice. Thea didn't have to look over at John to know that his whole body tensed up.

"Dean, why don't you go and get Mommy while I get some food for Bella." John said, easing closer to where Bella decided to lay down. Dean hesitated, but then nodded. He kissed the top of her head and then headed upstairs to where Mary was putting up clothes. Bella watched him go up the stairs as John scooted towards her. "Is it time Bella?" John's voice was shaky. Thea laid her head in his lap and sighed. She hated to do this. She whimpered quietly and nudged his hand. He brought it up slowly and rubbed his hand over her ears.

"Okay." He said it quietly. Thea almost gasped as she felt the wave of sorrow come off of John. It wasn't long before Mary joined him. "Should we take her to the vet?" Mary asked, there were already tears streaming down her face. "No, I don't think it will be much longer." John said sadly. Dean tightened his grip on her fur. He was currently hugging her. She felt every one of his tears as they soaked her fur. Thea gave Dean one last lick to his tear stained face and detached herself from her great dane form. This was always the worst part, leaving one of her forms behind. They were part of her.

Which is why she felt so cold when she left them behind. It would be at least a few months before another skinwalker form would attach to her. As she stood invisible to the others she grieved with them. She was close to Bella. She hoped Dean would remember that part of her.
