Announcing she'd hidden her pregnancy for a month did little to solve their problems, it was safe to say he was rather upset by it. The pair quickly began to lose their heads until Charlie declared he was going out, needing to clear his head. Scoffing, her hands on her hips she shook her head.
"Is that what we are calling Baz now?! 'Needing to clear your head?!' Pfft!" Try as she might she was unable to stop her tears from falling. "This is why I didn't tell you!"
Seeing her tears he wanted nothing more than to take her in her arms, show her she was wrong but he couldn't. His head was spinning, he needed space. Time.
"I'm not having an affair Duffy! I love you I just need time to think!"
Without another word or giving her a chance to reply he grabs his coat before quickly leaving the house. This was just so unexpected.
Eventually having pulled herself together, not before speaking to Megan, she tried to decide what to do next. Despite Megan insisting on giving Charlie a chance and to speak again tomorrow once he'd calmed down she opted to begin packing. She couldn't sit and wait for him to reject her and the baby. She wasn't giving him that chance, she'd never be Baz. Never enough. Sighing she lifts herself off the chair and heads for Charlottes room, deciding to get that over with first.
She'd managed to pack half the room up before it hit her, the overwhelming urge to be sick. Not now! Darting out the room she only just made it in time. Perfect. Just what she needed!
Having convinced Josh to be a rebel and meet him in their local on a 'school' night he sighed as he ordered two pints. Josh wasn't at all sure what to expect as he arrived, clearly something was going on or he wouldn't be here nor would he be biting the head off half the staff all weekend. As for Duffy he actually thought things must be improving, she at least looked slightly healthier and not so starkly thin. Entering the pub he found his mate at the bar looking rather stressed to say the least. Feeling the tension he quickly decides to break it with a joke.
"Don't tell me, she's left you." Seeing the look on his best friends face as he swung round he quickly regretted it.
"Most likely." Finishing the rest of his pint in one go he purposely places the glass down firmly. "Wouldn't blame her..."
"What?!" Surely he was exaggerating? It didn't take a genius to see how much they loved each other, maybe the stress of two kids was getting to them. He knew well enough how difficult it was.
"What's happened Charlie?" Sitting beside him he keeps his eyes fixed in way, trying to work out what on earth happened.
His words were mumbled, not waiting anyone to overhear not to mention slightly slurred.
"Kissed Baz, Duffy found out and got her pregnant." Josh's eyes widened as he took in his words, trying to get them to make sense.
"Wait...Backup. You got Baz pregnant?" Shaking his head whilst his eyes darted around them to make sure no one was listening he sighed.
"No! Christ no! Duffy's pregnant." Rubbing his face Josh takes his own pint into hand before taking a rather large gulp of it.
"So let me get this right...Duffy's pregnant, you've cheated on her, she's found out and left you?"
"No! Yes...Oh." Sighing, having ordered them both another pint he tries to explain. "Baz was upset, I was talking to her and she kissed me. Someone seen and told Duffy. She's convinced I'm having an affair but I'm not! I don't love Baz. The kiss was about a month ago but I've only just found out Duffy knows and she's been hiding that she's pregnant again because of it."
"Shit." Thanking the barman he quickly finishes the first pint, trying to get his head round it all. "How far gone is she?"
"10 weeks. I can't believe she hid it from me!" Taking another gulp of his pint he rubs the back of his neck. "What a mess."
"Pot Kettle Charlie." Staring wide eyed at Josh he hadn't expected that.
"Excuse me?" Scoffing now he shook his head, seriously?
"Well why didn't you just tell her what happened with Baz? It would have saved all of this." Despite knowing Josh was right he couldn't help but defend himself. He hadn't meant all this to happen!
"I didn't want to put another stress on her shoulders. She's had a lot to deal with at work and I'm sure you've seen the effect it's had on her." Wincing at that he nods, it was hard to miss.
"Yeah I have. Well Helen noticed last time we were together how thin she'd got. Not that she's not slim anyway..."
"Exactly. When I realised she'd started to put weight on I didn't want to risk ruining that, I had no idea it was because she's pregnant."
"You need to talk to her Charlie. Christ knows what's going through her head now. She needs support and reassurance not you drunk."
By the time he'd got home, more than a little worse for wear, he wasn't sure what he was going to walk into. Her car was still in the driveway and the lights were still on in the house so surely that was a good sign? Taking a deep breath in he staggers in the house, almost falling over her overnight bag still sat in the hall.
"Duffy?" No answer, he tries again. Louder. "Duffy?" This time the only response he got was Copper rushing to him, full of beans. "Shh."
Growing concerned he cautiously heads upstairs since that was the direction the dog had come from. Glancing into Charlottes room first, the light still on, his heart raced on realising it was half packed. The urgency to find her increased dramatically. Leaving the tots room he quickly checks theirs to find it just as he left it this morning. Where was she? He was seconds away from leaving it when he spotted the light under the door for the ensuite.
"Duffy?" Still nothing. Arriving at the door he's thankful to discover it open although nervous to find what lay behind it.
Stepping into the room carefully he drops to his knees on spotting her on the floor beside the toilet. Shit! Shaking her roughly he once more calls her name. "Lisa? Come on wake up for me!"
Jumping at his touch her eyes spring to life utterly confused by his sudden presence and concern. Well that was until she realised where she was. Fuck!
"Jesus! There's nicer ways to wake me Charlie!"
His hand went for her wrist, trying to check her pulse. "Why were you asleep on the bathroom floor? Are you sure you didn't collapse?"
Pulling her wrist free from his hold she backs away from him. Still hurt not to mention furious. The smell of him! "Of course I'm sure! I was sick, I must have fallen asleep after."
"Sick?"
"Yes, you know morning sickness? If only it stuck to the bloody morning." She muttered before quickly shifting back to the toilet, the smell of alcohol making her stomach turn, throwing up once more. "You stink!"
Falling back to sit on his bum rather than his knees he sighs with relief. "Fuck! You bloody scared me!" Seeing her throw up he winces before rubbing her back. "Sorry. I'm so sorry!"
