Storming through admin he quickly acquired his target, he walked with such fury that both Kate and Jude backed away before staring at each other. He certainly knew how to announce he'd arrived at work didn't he? Taking in a deep breath he catches her attention.
"A word? Before you ask no it can't wait." Fixing her with a deadly stare he waited seconds before storming back through admin to his office where he waited with the door open.
Sighing she smiled sweetly at the patient she had been deadly with, explained she'd be back as soon as she could before following the clearly rattled charge nurse in his office. Regarding him with raised eyebrows as she entered his office, the door slammed behind her, she sighed.
"Well someone is clearly rather upset." Casually taking a seat beside his desk she folds her arms across her chest, a small smirk on her lips.
"Upset doesn't even come close to it." Not quite trusting himself he remains at the doorway, he'd never been this angry at a woman before.
Slowly she shifted her legs, crossing them before glancing back up. "Well there's no point beating around the bush, care to explain what's go so under your skin?"
Unable to meet her eye, he knew that smirk would be there and if he seen it then all control would be lost, he counts to 10 before continuing. "Harassing my pregnant wife at work is bad enough but you've taken to stalking her now?! What the hell is your problem?!"
"Pfft that's rather an exaggeration isn't it? Come on!" Now full on grinning up at him she raises her eyebrow once more. "You're so cute when you're angry you know..."
Duffy barely made it back through the doors to the department, having been in a meeting for a fair chunk of the afternoon, before Kate rushed towards her, clearly flustered.
"Duffy! I don't know what's going on but you need to go to Charlie's office. Now." Confusion filled Duffy's face.
"Why? What's..." Pausing as thought hit her she stepped up her pace. "He's not with Baz is he?" Checking her watch he wasn't due in for another hour by which time Baz would have left. What was he playing at?
"Yes...There's a lot of yelling and..." Not letting her continue she couldn't help but swear.
"Shit!" Arriving outside his office door she doesn't knock or even look in before bursting in the room to find Charlie red faced and screaming. Baz on the other hand was still sat smirking, clearly only winding him up further. Shutting the door behind her she places both hands on his shoulders.
"Charlie, come on you know this what she wants." Feeling him resist her touch only panicked her more, rubbing his arm she shifts position to stand between Charlie and Baz, her eyes on the other woman. "You've wound him up now go. I'm sure there are far more important things you should be doing."
Slowly rising from her seat she addresses Duffy as she begins to head out the room. "Maybe one day you'll realise I'm not the one filling your head with nonsense." Half way out the door she smiles once more "Isn't that right Charlie?" Before heading back to patient leaving the already stressed out couple alone.
Rubbing her lower back, wishing the ache away, she sighed as she finally glanced up at her husband. "You promised me." Her tone was calm but disappointed as she shook her head.
Sinking into his chair he lets his head fall into his hands. "I"m sorry. I just couldn't sit back and let her constantly harass you. She took it too far!"
Moving forward she once more begins to massage his shoulders. "I shouldn't have told you..."
Filling his head up he shot her a frustrated look, that's the last thing he wanted. "No! I'm upset enough that you waited two weeks never mind not telling me at all Duffy." Anyone upsetting Duffy was a sure fire way to get his temper going but trying to upset her whilst she was pregnant was asking for hell, regardless of who it was. Didn't Baz understand that she had enough stress to cope with as it was? It had taken him a week to realise something wasn't right with her, the signs of stress clear as she began to obsess over cleaning not to mention eat less and less, she could have collapsed or worse. It had still taken him a further week to convince her to open up, by which time his imagination had gone into overdrive.
"This isn't good for you though Charlie. You promised you'd let me deal with this." Still rubbing his shoulders she gasped as she took in the sight of one of his hands. "What did you punch?"
"Never mind me! I'm not the one who's pregnant Duffy." His voice suddenly gets a lot quieter, guilt edging in. "The wall. Had to hit something..." Sighing heavily she knew he'd really began to worry about her and for that she felt guilty but she'd been trying to protect him. She knew Baz was trying to fill her head with lies but they still got in her head, filling her with doubt.
"Charlie!" Moving round to face him she swings his chair, kneeling before him. "Let me see. Please?" As soon as she had his hand in hers she continued. "I was dealing with it. That meeting I was in was about all this. I've reported her for harassment. Enough of the staff have seen it and have agreed to back me up."
"What?!" He blinked multiple times, that was not what he'd expected her to do. Of course it was the sensible option but she'd been so insistent last time they'd discussed it that she didn't want to go down that route.
"You punching walls doesn't really help does it?" Forcing herself back to her feet she shakes her head. "At least you don't seem to have broken it."
Getting to his own feet he suddenly felt terribly exhausted and guilty. He should have trusted her. Stepping closer to her he envelops her in a hug, her bump pressing flush against him. "I'm sorry."
Lifting her head up she offers a small smile. "You twit." Reaching up she kisses him softly, hoping this would be over soon.
