Conclusion [Following Summer]

Spider-Man swung high over the city. Everything seemed to be quiet amidst the skyscrapers on that particular evening. He alighted atop the Empire State Building's observation deck. A 360 degree survey picked up on nothing particular out of the ordinary far below. He breathed out a sigh of relief.

Fights had pushed the previous five months along. He'd finally got Aunt May out from under Doc Ock's influence and back into her Forest Hills home. Hammerhead had decided to make a comeback. A former Marine calling himself the Punisher had threatened to shoot him a few times. Some Central American terrorist with spiked boots tried to shanghai the Long Island Ferry. And then there was some shadow guy in green calling himself the Jackal of all things.

Preparations however notched their place in these affairs. He and Gwen completed their preparations. Really once the wedding party came together, everything else was easy. After much going back and forth, they decided to just get married on the steps in front of City Hall. MJ took on the maid of honor duties. Harry, even in a limited capacity, insisted on being Peter's best man and another supporter for Gwen. Flash and DeWolff were groomsman and bride's maid respectively. Robbie stood in for Captain Stacy in walking Gwen from the limo up to Peter's side. Even if the happy couple themselves feared some super villain crashing their day, everything could not have gone more perfectly.

We're finally going to get that honeymoon. Everything's good. I'm heading out. He shot a web line toward a nearby building and swung downward. He swung through two more arcs. Then he alighted atop the LIRR heading outbound. He watched the city drop away and the buildings become shorter in stature. He watched the stations whiz by. Finally, the train stopped at Southampton.

Now to find the hotel! He swung away from the train station. He banked to the southeast. Within minutes, he'd reached a nearby beach. He saw the Rilasto Suites rising just off the sands but close enough to almost feel the mist of the Sound's breaking waves. Right next door to it, the Sands Seawave attracted crowds of tourists and local alike for fine seafood and ambiance. This must be the place. He changed behind a dumpster.

Peter slipped out of the alley. He walked along the waiting line but found no sign of Gwen. He went up to the maƮtre-de. "Excuse me. I'm looking for a Parker party."

The slender brunette with a pony tail fixed her glasses. "Oh! You must be Peter Parker. Yes sir, Mr. Parker. She arrived about five minutes ago. Right this way." She grabbed a menu and led him through the crowded restaurant.

Great. I'd have to be late. He brushed the wrinkles out of his blazer. He straightened his tie. Then he saw the gorgeous blonde in question. Gwen wore a white blouse with a dark miniskirt. Her earrings and wedding ring sparkled in Luna's moonbeams. "Hey, Lovely Lady!"

"There you are!" Gwen stood. She kissed him on the cheek. "How was the train?"

"City seems quiet. The ride was nice. Moon's really full. Stars were nice. They don't sparkle like your eyes though," he reported as they sat down.

The eyes in question rolled. "Most guys use a pick up line before marriage. You're the first who does it afterwards, Mr. P." She chuckled.

"We aren't dead. You're still you." He patted her hand. "At least everyone's happy tonight. Harry's out of the hospital. Flash and Sha Shan got special permission to get married. JJJ's paying for dinner tonight. We have a week to ourselves out here."

"I don't want any adventures, Peter. I mean it. This is our week," Gwen asserted.

"I promised," he vowed.

"Besides this kind of leads to the news. Harry's in a suite below us. Guess what happened?" Gwen poured them both glasses of champagne. She grinned. Her eyes sparkled.

"Oh this has to be good. Come on! Knock my socks off!" he urged.

"Well you know how Harry took MJ up to the Catskills last weekend? He proposed and she accepted! Can you believe it?" she announced.

"Harry and Mary Jane are getting married? That's great! Do they have a date yet?" Disbelief prompted those questions. Granted, he knew his ex-roomie and she had cared for each other. He'd watched MJ get closer to Harry over the previous few months at the hospital and afterwards.

"Next month, I think. Anyhow they asked for us to do Maid of Honor and Best Man. Of course I accepted. Isn't this great? He's feeling better and gets his girl. She gets her man and still gets to do the modelling," she presumed.

"Now that's news I want to hear." He kissed her cheek again. "Anyone ever tell you that you warm a guy's life up without trying?"

She shrugged with a playful air. "Yes. I think some photographer I know says that. He can be a real persistent person like that. Oh and I think I can warm things up further. You remember that bikini I wore down in that Antarctic jungle last year?" She grinned. "I think, Mr. P., you need to see me in it again." Mischief and Desire sparkled in her eyes.

"You sure drive a tough bargain, Mrs. P." He smirked at her.

"Just keeping you straight, Man of Mine. Gotta make sure you swing straight after all," she teased.

And so, Happiness warmed where Tragedy might have deadened hearts and minds. Amor flowed in plenteous supply. Peter and Gwen would balance themselves between their lives and Spider-Man's.

But let's give them their dinner and moment in Bliss' sparkle, shall we? If the Gobline cannot intrude in their love, who are we to after all?

THE END
