Chapter 19 - Jax POV
After I'd left Eliza earlier, something didn't seem right. She still seemed upset. And when I'd mentioned that Lexi's shithead of a boyfriend was related to Tara's ex-fiance, I thought that she was going to have a meltdown. I was sitting in Abel's room and decided to call Eliza. It rang a couple of times before it went to voicemail. Something wasn't right. I decided to try Ope. He was usually with Eliza, especially at night. I pulled my phone out and called Ope. "ello?" He said when he answered.
"Hey man, E with you?" I asked him.
"Nope. When I got home neither her or Lexi was here. I tried to call her but her phone's going straight to voicemail." Ope said.
"Where would they have gone?" I asked.
"No idea. What about the GPS tracker in her car? You know the one that Clay secretly put in after Gem pulled her disappearing act?" He mentioned.
I'd totally forgotten about the GPS tracker. The thing was, Clay was the only one that knew how to access it. "Any idea where Clay is?" I asked him.
"He was still at the clubhouse when I left and that was half an hour ago." He said.
"Okay, thanks." I said hanging up. I decided that this was more of a face to face conversation.
When I got to the clubhouse, Clay was sitting at the bar. "Hey, I thought you left." He said.
I sat on the bar stool next to him. "I did. I went by the hospital to check on the kid. Doc's got him on the list to be the first one discharged in the morning." I said and Clay nodded.
"That's good. What brings you by so late?" Clay asked me.
I let out a sigh. I rubbed my hand over my face. "I need your help." I said.
"I'll see what I can do. What's going on?"
"Do you remember when Mom pulled her disappearing act and you installed GPS trackers in her and Eliza's cars?" He nodded. "I need you to track Eliza's car."
"Why? What happened?"
"Well, you know that she had that big fight with Koz right?"
"A little. I know that when ya'll went to get Lexi, that Eliza found out that when she and Koz were together that he also had a relationship going on with a croweater."
"Well, it started with that. Then she asked me about Carlos and I mentioned the connection to Tara." I said.
"You don't think that she'd go after Tara, do you?" Clay asked me.
I'd like to say that I didn't think that Eliza wouldn't go after Tara but she'd been so angry today over the Kozik stuff, I wouldn't put anything past her at this point. "Normally, I'd say no… but after today? I don't know."
He nodded. "Give me five minutes." Clay said.
I had the prospect hand me a beer while I waited on Clay.
Eliza POV
When Lexi and I walked into the warehouse, Hap was the first person that I saw. "Hey." He said.
"Hey, you all set up?" I asked him.
"Yeah. I know that you've had a rough day, but are you sure that you wanna do this? I mean, if you do that's fine with me, but you need to remember that once you do… there's no going back." Hap said.
I glared at him. "Okay, yeah, I've had a crappy day. And yes, it's cause of the shit storm with Koz but I need to do this. I need to get answers for Lexi." I told Hap.
He nodded and stepped aside so that I could approach Tara. I walked up to her. She looked up at me from the chair that she was handcuffed to. "Eliza?" She said.
"Hi Tara. How are you?" I said.
She looked around. "Where am I?" She asked.
"It doesn't matter. What does matter is that we're going to have a chat." I told her. Tig brought a chair over to me and I sat down with the back of the chair in front of me. "I need some answers Tara."
"From me?" She asked.
I nodded. "Yep. Tell me about Chicago, Tara."
"Why do you want to know about Chicago?"
I pulled my cigarettes and my lighter out of my back pocket, pulling one out and lighting it. "Why did you pick Chicago? How did you spend your time there? How did you meet Josh Kohn?"
"So that's what this is really about?" Tara asked.
"How'd you meet him, Tarta?" I asked again, taking a hit off my cigarette.
"I was working in the ER during my rotation when Josh came in. He'd been working a case and he'd come in with a stab wound. When he came out of surgery, he was in recovery and I went to check on him… and when I did, he asked me out. Things were great for a while…" Tara said.
"But…" I heard Lexi say behind me.
"But then I noticed that he started to change. Shortly after we got engaged, I found out that I was pregnant. I wasn't finished with my residency so I wasn't ready to be a mom."
I chuckled. "Of course not." I said.
"So, I got an abortion. When Josh found out, he got really mad. He said that I shouldn't have because that was our baby, and that he should have been a part of the decision process." Tara said. "It was after that moment, that I went to the cops and got a restraining order against him. Then, he started stalking me."
"And what'd you do?" I asked him, lighting another cigarette.
"I called the cops and told them that he was violating the restraining order and because he's a federal agent there's nothing that they could do." Tara said.
"And the reason that you came back to Charming?" I asked her.
Jax POV
It was exactly five minutes later when Clay came back. He didn't look happy. "Your never gonna believe where your sister is." Clay said.
I shrugged. "I don't know. Where?" I asked.
"Bluebird." He said.
What the hell was Eliza thinking? She was obviously up to something, but the question was what? "What would she be doing at Bluebird?" I asked Clay.
"No idea. It's your sister. You know that she has a history of acting before she thinks." Clay said.
"Your right. I'm calling Ope and we'll go check it out. Find out what she's up to." I told Clay and he nodded.
I grab the keys to the other van and as I'm walking out to it, I call Ope. "Hey man. I need you to get up and get dressed. I'm on my way to pick you up. I found Eliza." I said.
"Where is she?" Ope asked.
"She's at Bluebird." I said. I ran to the van and rushed to pick up Ope. We had to get to Eliza before she did something stupid. Most of the time, Eliza was a levelheaded person but when she was pissed off… it was hard to stop her when she had her mind set on something.
When I picked Ope up we raced against the clock to get to Eliza.
