Crimson drenched over Jaune's body as he was launched into the air, the harsh feeling of wind breaking against his back and gritty texture of the beast's skin under his ragged nails. His head snapped downwards as he heard the ground beneath the titanic beast crack while it ran hungrily towards The Hunter, who noted a faint blackness to the creature's dripping saliva. With a frenzied roar the colossal mass of muscle that was its arm swung upwards to impale The Hunter only for Jaune to twist his body mid fall before passing the beast's face and grabbing onto the creatures fur. Red splattered across Jaune's face as the sharpened point of one of his throwing daggers into bottom of the abominations jaw with the freshly leaking wound being staunched boy the fine silver blade. In less than a second The Hunter rubbed the cuffs of his sleeves together making a very small but bright spark between the fur, which quickly began to grow in intensity.
Sharp crackling filled the air as electricity hoped over The Hunter's body from the patches of dark beast fur before finally being sent through the silver blade making it explode into a bright blue glow and forcing the muscles around the beast's mouth to spasm violently in pain before stopping as the connection between the knife and The Hunter stopped as Jaune dropped to the ground with his hand grinding against the creatures skin. The Beast let out a croaky, deep roar as it felt the bone talons of The Hunter dragged across its hide all the way down the Beast's face until the creature began to thrash around in pain and rage to try and harm Jaune. It only managed to snag The Hunter by the bottom of his coat. The beast grabbed the humanoid and slammed him into the ground with an echoing cracking from The Hunter's shattered bones. It brought down the larger limb to try and crush Jaune to end him, only to feel nothing but the morning-dew covered grass under its paw.
In a misty form, Jaune just barely managed to avoid the hairy palm of the beast before he reformed wielding the unextended sword of the Burial Blade with the scarred weapon ready to rend the creatures flesh apart. A guttural howl tore from the abominations throat as the Hunter jammed the pointed tip along the arc of the beast's thumb with the flesh making the flesh warp around the blade agonisingly before Jaune ripped from its resting place as he dragged and cut along the index finger, resulting in The Hunter to be lathered in the warm sanguine. It let out a deep echoing roar before rotating entirely and smacking The Hunter with the back of its mangled hand before trying to impale the black dressed man on the pointed tip of its reindeer-like antlers. The Hunter barely managed to jump back before the horns stabbed into him, only to be launched upwards off the ground as the beast's head quickly jutted upwards and smashed into him, causing the familiar and merciless sensation of his sternum cracking and his organs squishing together. A violent cough tore from Jaune's throat before his back made popping noises as he stood back up from his awkward landing place, before spitting a wad of white blood from his mouth towards the beast.
Two pairs of blood thirsty eyes met for less than a second before they both returned to their brawl, the beast wearing a scrunched snarl while The Hunter's near permanent grin simply became even more vicious and filled with twisted glee. Glistening white drenched the tips of the gnarled claws as they ran through The Hunter's flesh just under the ribs only for Jaune to disappear in an explosion of pale liquid that seared the surface of the beast's hand as it soaked into the limbs pours. The Hunter appeared again, extended scythe in hand, with the weapon poised to strike out at the beast, only for it to bat at him with its inhuman strength in an unexpected display of finesse. Despite the intense pain thrumming in the depths of his bones, Jaune swung the Burial Blade as a resounding ting came from the weapon while a very faint blue of the arcane briefly decorated the weapon. Brilliant vermilion splattered across The Hunter's form as the scythe's tip penetrated the beast's skin and lacerated the flesh beneath before the creature kicked its leg back to hit The Good Hunter.
He jumped back only for the bleeding arm of the creature to slam into him without mercy. Just as it almost collided with him, his body turned into ethereal mist as he aimed a large over arcing swing at the creatures head with only being able to draw a small inkling of blood from the creature's gullet as it let out a deep, impactful roar knocking The Hunter off balance and unable to complete his attack. Letting out its high-pitched squealing-roar, it charged forward with its more powerful arm ready to grab and crush him between the blood encrusted fingers. A sharp bang resonated through from The Hunter's hand as he fired Evelyn with the force from the quicksilver bullet slowing the beast's charge and making it stumble before it finally fell over. Using the opportunity, The Hunter slammed his hand into the side of the Beast's splintering skull before moving the limb around in the warm, wet insides and ripping out some of the beast's grey matter and a cascading amount of claret to pour from the pulsating void.
Excitement ran through Jaune's body as the beast recovered from the vicious blow to its head, its skin bended into a deeper snarl as its blood scented breath escaped in a rage and pain filled roar. White blood erupted from Jaune's mouth as the beats skull collided with his body only to be followed up with the feeling if wind passing by him as he was sent into the air. With a snap from the lock mechanism of the Burial Blade he tore the curved sword from its placement and tossed it downwards towards the Beast's head, intending for it to stab into its skull only for its head to move slightly causing the blade to be caught on the oversized horns before it leaped upwards with its damaged jaw open wide. Its hopes were dashed as The Hunter slammed the metallic handle of the scythe into the bottom of its chin causing a sickening, yet satisfying, crack as the bottom of the creatures maw split slightly as the bone fractured underneath causing a thick mixture of black and crimson to leak through the tear in its skin.
Jumping back, Jaune evaded another heavy-handed strike from the beast, and then another, only for it to change its method of attack as it swung its leg at him unexpectedly which managed catch him off guard. A meaty thud came from where the attack had impacted against his upper torso finally breaking his chest and sending a nauseating and commonly felt pain through his body. Unfortunately for the beast, it also lead to Jaune stabbing a Shaman Bone Blade into the hulking beast's leg, both slightly helping his body heal the immense damage that the creature had done and inflicting it with the numbing spinal fluid confusing both its mind and nerves. A shuddering breath escaped him as ecstasy briefly overcame his emotions while jamming the needle of a blood vial into his leg while the inflamed warmth of his bones stitching themselves back together spread through his upper body, within a second of noticing the beast struggling to walk he latched onto the mangled fur and bit down with his elongated canines managing to pierce the thick hide, savouring the flavour of the sweet blood and smooth taste of Grimm fluid that spread through the creature's body. Its legs jerked suddenly as it tried to kick The Hunter off however, Jaune slashed at its ankles on his decent before breaking into a roll under a strike from the beast.
Jaune folded the handle of the Burial Blade and placed comfortably under his capes before withdrawing the masterfully crafted Rakuyo and quickly swinging the dual blade upwards in a light strike and jumping back as he carefully watched the sloppy movements of the beast. Jaune merely stepped back as the creature dragged its hand across the floor only to thrust forwards with the tip of the katana firmly into the creature's calf before twisting the hilt dagger of the Vile-Blood weapon from its resting place and quickly cutting a cross into the monstrosity's shin with a flourish before tearing the main body of the Rakuyo from the muscly creature.
A wet snap came from the cut tendons before the beast to fall heavily towards the earth. Strings of saliva and spittle spilt from its mangled jaw as The Hunter approached, drenching the man in the foul liquid while he put the red covered Vile-Blood blade pieces back together. Warm blood bursted from the creature's snout as the Rakuyo cut through with ease. Unfortunately, the main blade was caught in the rough cartilage and bone making The Hunter twist the dagger from its place in a show of red sparks causing a rumbling growl from the struggling beast from the blinding flecks.
All the beast could do was flail helplessly in the pain while The Hunter watched each part of the former human struggle to control itself with his merciless grin etched into his face. More blood poured from its wounds while it tore open its injuries carelessly trying to rip into The Hunter. A deep red rained on Jaune as the beast leapt into the air with its grotesque hand heading towards him, with the mangled mouth of the beast behind it forcing The Good Hunter to grip onto the leathery face of beast as it bit into his leg leading to the bone of his leg shattering. Bloodshot red orbs winced as the sharp bite of Rakuyo's dagger into tight layer of skin above the bloodhungry monster's cheekbone before ripping it out in a fast, clean movement. Painfully, he forced his sopping leg out of the monstrosities mouth and leaped upwards towards the stuck weapon. With a uneasy flourish the main blade was finally torn from its place while severing through the nasal passage in a small wave of blood only to continue the damage by dragging the fine blade through the creature's eye and farther up the creature's brow before latching onto the antlers of the colossal being.
Splintering sounds filled the air as cracks formed on the beast's antlers from The Good Hunter tearing the siderite curved sword out from its bony prison. A dance of sparks erupted from the base of the sword as its lock-mechanism activated and sealed it into the metal snath before The Hunter swung downwards. Glistening claret erupted from the beast's skin as the tip of the Burial blade bit into the monstrosity with the wound growing as Jaune ran down to the creatures right shoulder creating a creek in the beast's flesh. Only a few drops of blood dripped from a thin cut caused by the Burial Blade barely missing an artery from the beast as it quickly struck at Jaune with its smaller arm. Without giving him a second to prepare, the Beast's larger hand curved upwards in a swing sending him high into the air and farther away from the battlefield in the hopes to either kill or in the least stop The Hunter. The Good Hunter's laughter ran across the forest as he saw the injured beast running away with trees collapsing around its pacing form.
A sopping wet noise came from the blondes side as he dragged himself off the shattered remains of a broken tree as his body tried to repair each little injury done from the impact. His broken vertebrae slid against each other as he moved his crooked neck upright with his lips still locked in a tight grin; his golden covered eyes staring in the same direction from which he came. Jaune let out a soft, satisfied sigh as he tore a stubborn splinter from his bandaged right hand before the sound of myriad of light groans came from near his feet. The spindly arms of the messengers was holding his near bottomless bag towards him, gaining a softer smile from The Hunter than the usual twisted smile that graced his face. The bags leather top was flipped open allowing Jaune to put the Old Hunter weapons into the bag before withdrawing the dark silver Holy Moonlight Sword and stabbing it into the ground as the bone in his arm fractured and broke through his skin. His already broken ulna almost snapped in half as he jammed the bone back into its living casing before licking a small dabble of the beast blood around his mouth. Enjoying the sweet iron taste of the thick liquid The Good Hunter grabbed his blade with his healing arm before hefting it over his shoulder as if it weighed less than air.
The Hunter's head normal smile returned to his face as the sharp reverberating howl of the beast seemed to ripple through the air before the lesser calls of Beowolves answered. Jaune's grin parted as a low chuckled rolled out of his mouth as a group of the wolf-like Grimm stalked towards him. An alpha walked forward growling while Jaune mockingly glared at the armoured creature and its pack.
"Ah, you ignorant slaves, finally taken notice, have you? How quickly you forget that I slaughtered your kin as if they were nothing but helpless maggots feasting on a corpse burning in a pyre, but of course you answer the call of a higher prey. I may keep my inner eyes closed, at least most of the time, but I can see that each one of you are barely worth killing but still-"
Whatever he about to say died in his mouth as he felt a change in the world around him. Air felt like water as rippling waves covered the entirety of the Emerald forest all coming from where the beast had run off. Jaune's grin dampened slightly as more Beowolves emerged from the dark of the forest before the alpha charged forwards with its claws spread wide apart. Before the beast realised it, the Grimm's head was split into two uneven chunks by the ancient blade.
"Where was I again before your mutt leader so rudely interrupted me? Ah, yes, I suppose killing a few pets would be somewhat therapeutic. If only for a few mere seconds."
Two Beowolves decide to take action as the charged at him, only for The Hunter to step out of the way of ones claws only to follow up with a swift kick to the back; before severing the lower leg of the other one and grabbing the scruff of its neck in a vice like tightness. Deep, satisfied growling rolled out of his throat when he yanked the black hide straight off the creature with a flat, wet rip and its liquid spreading over his body. Black covered pale pink as his tongue darted around the outside of his mouth to lap up as much of the Grimm's lifeblood as possible as his golden covered eyes darted around to each remaining member of the pack. Dark coloured paste erupted over a tree as he threw the recovering Grimm at its ilk with inhuman strength with last thing it could have possibly heard being the hollow chuckle of its killer.
He barely noted that the creatures seemed step back, almost as if they were afraid, as he turned to address them.
"As tempting as you morsels are, I have a true beast to hunt. Be glad that I have much more interesting endeavours to partake in… for now"
Frothing blackness seeped from the soil beneath The Hunter while his body seemed to grow transparent as the golden film covering his eyes retreated into the barely standing pupils. Jaune gave a slight wave to the Grimm as he plunged into the murky void.
Lightless cerulean traced over his changed surroundings, yet again finding himself in a nightmarish version of Remnant, only this time being inside the Emerald Forest. What was once beautiful vibrant green was replaced with rotted, contorted trees with jutting branches jutting to the sky as if they were begging for help from the dirty orange sky. Nothing but the familiar stench of rot and decay filled the humid air only paired by the sound of struggling rope dangling from the branches of the brambled wood. An anaemic body tried to reach out to as he pushed passed in the direction where he saw the beast run off to.
He waded through the mud with the sharp grin dressing his face again. As he walked, he beat another half dead body out of his way, only for the noose holding it up to snap making the humanoid to fall atop of him. A small gasp of surprise left Jaune's mouth as the body dragged him down to the loose ground in a splash of brown. Wrapped hands grappled the underside of the pale man's ribcage, before pulling it apart in a single motion. Wiping away at the rancid blood that drenched his face, Jaune tossed the body to the ground with the fragile parts slowly sinking into the earth.
Stone suddenly shattered entirely as it crashed into Jaune's head from the rolling fog making The Hunter scan over the pale veil that dressed the gnarled wood. Another rock caused a sharp crack from the right of Jaune's head which made a small splatter of blood to erupt from his ear with a short, deafening ring through the ear.
A slight movement under the fog blanket tipped him off as quickly raised his gun. Evelyn spun when Jaune pulled the trigger with the only sound other than the gun's bang being the sound of a stone dropping into the mud. Before another pebble could be thrown The Hunter descended onto the location of the thrower with the dull arcane sword separating a mutilated body, only for him to discover another two conjoined bodies with nearly identical cuts and marks as the first. Rapid thumping grew lounder as he yanked the blade from the chest of the last body before a writhing black and veiny tentacle rammed into his side, alongside an enraged roar.
Jaune's body twisted as it was launched slightly into the air, resulting in his pale blood covering the liquid ground, before The Hunter hooked his hand into the neck of the beast, making an eruption of tainted blood escape from an artery with Jaune letting out a shuddering breath of excitement. Blackened blood combined with the drying mud and rancid blood dyeing his cloaks in a myriad of dark colours while Jaune threw himself out of the way of emerging Grimm flesh. The Hunter watched as the Beast's body seemed to burst in black liquid and maroon lifeblood. His eyes slightly widened as the beast's spindly arm elongated and became bulkier with growing muscles.
The Grimm flesh split open into four flimsy mandibles with each covered in rows upon rows of tiny, serrated teeth. Spittle and mucus dripped from the cancerous Grimm parasite's maw as it weakly pulsated like a barely beating heart, before snacking on the bursted flesh around where it made its emergence, causing the beast to struggle in pain . Cerulean met garnet red as the beast snarled him in rage and seemingly mercy, only for The Hunter to stare back with empty eyes and his sword raised before it fell with a blue wave shooting from the edge. Rage bubbled through its veins as it let out another ragged, high-pitched roar across the borderline hell that was the waking dream. Jaune could only fall to his knees as blood dribbled out of his ears and his eyes as the sound vibrated on the inside of his skull.
Through willpower and desperation, Jaune forced past the disorientating feeling of his eardrums pulling themselves back together and into the fight. In his dizzied state, Jaune barely managed to shuffle out of the way of the enlarged right arm; making Jaune topple over as the hairless limb slammed into the slickened earth. The strength forced the thick mist to disperse before it started to return to its resting place in the same constant level. Then, suddenly, another wide wave cut through the fog in a large arc of arcane moonlight shot across the large gap between the two combatants before The Hunter managed to close the gap between himself and his enemy.
Blood littered the humming moonlit blade as The Hunter heavily, and sloppily, tossed his body in a circle leading to a large gash opening on the creature's foot with an exquisite crunch of bone and blood. A sharp wail came from the beast as arcane energy leaked from the blade before it exploded into a large burst of arcane energy and burning the beast's shin. The Hunter launched himself backwards with the Holy Moonlight Great sword to avoid the maw of the Grimm parasite.
A small and sharp grin covered Jaune's face for a brief second as he took in the writhing form of the Grimm as it tried to unanchored itself from the earth. Using the opportunity to the fullest, he jumped upon the grip-less body of the creature and plunged his poison-covered bone claws into the dark growth. It squealed as the claws lacerated its body before it could tear itself back out of the soft earth. It managed to escape from its imprisonment, even though it had costed a couple of gouged out chunks of flesh, managing to flick Jaune off the ground yet again. Rather than land in the mud and leave himself vulnerable; he grabbed onto a thick branch and downed a Blue Elixir in the hopes of being able to blend in with the fog to stealthily fade into the background for a moment of respite.
Jaune widened his eyes in genuine surprise as his body was slammed into the ground from behind. Glowing white mixed with the dirty brown mud as blood poured from where thick splinters cut into his exposed face and through the thick skin coat that covered his body. Agonised groans rumbled in Jaune's throat as he tore the invading wood from his flesh, his face still plastered in a sickening grin of violent bloodlust from the fight while he tore an extremely large shard of wood.
Claret liquid bursted from one of the Beast artery veins as he forced a damaged length of wood into the Beast. With a howl of pain, the creature dragged its hand sloppily across the ground in an exhausted attempt to catch The Hunter; only to flinch back as the distinctive blue edge of the moonlit blade burned into its skin. Jaune jumped back as it lazily thrusted its arm forwards in a tired attempt to maim him only to feel the warm moistness of one of the Grimm parasite's tentacle before it fully wrapped around him. Spittle and blood dripped from his mouth as the limb tightened around him, pining his arms to his side uncomfortably.
Slithering back through the air, it dragged Jaune to its body which opened its mouth wide for him to see rows upon rows of tiny, fish-hook shaped teeth that lined the creature's mandibles and the pitch-black void that could barely be called a throat. Jaune watched as the thick strands of bubbling saliva dribbled from its open maw, the acrid smell of rot and death wafting out of the abominations body as it began to slowly drag him towards the lightless hole.
Despite his struggle to escape the grasp of the parasite, the large grin etched itself farther into his face as he began to chuckle slightly at the creature. The joy-filled tone of his voice echoed throughout the murky area; his sadistic glee leaking into his voice.
"How persistent you are; however, I'd much rather keep this game going a little while longer."
A lit Molotov Cocktail shattered against the back of the Grimm's mouth causing it to spasm and cry in pain while the flames torched the creature's sublime flesh. Feather, Flesh and cloth flew back as the calcified hook of an Amygdala Arm shot out from the back of The Hunter and into the delicate membrane that covered the Grimm adding to the creature's pain before The Hunter was dragged to where it had entered the monstrosity's body, and was launched past while laughing at the Grimm's struggling form.
"This… this was what I needed all this time! To finally experience something new, to see something new, to kill something new! SHOW ME EVERYTHING YOU ARE!"
The Hunter's maddened eyes settled on the creature as the Holy Moonlight Blade was thrown forward as if it were piercing arrow of light. The blade lodged into the base of the beast's back resulting in it toppling over from the spinal cord was cut. Jaune stopped for a second as he left the dull steel church cannon out of his leather bag. Chalky bone ash littered the air as he tossed the weapon enhancing tool onto the weapon. Any other possible sound was drowned out from the powerful cannon blast viciously tossed his arm back. The Hunter had to wipe the heavy blood from his eyes to check if the beast was still living, only to see the shattered and hollowed skull of the beast with the still hot cannon ball lodged into the heated grey-matter, before it fell into the oozing puddle of the beast's blood and mulched brain.
With its host's death, the Grimm Parasite began to write as it threw up a thick black liquid to extinguish that dying flames on the inside of itself before it began to pulsate in ridged spasms. In less than a second, the creature dove back at the lifeless corpse that was once its host and, while tearing itself from the cooling remains in a shower of viscera, began to devour every inch of flesh, bone and fur that was still attached to the beast. Its body changed with each bite it took from the cadaver.
Its body shifted to mimic a blank template of a person's body with only a few features even telling that it was a creature of the Grimm. The inky black flesh and the elongated body were just some of the obvious changes. What was supposed to be arms turned into three brambled tentacles below the biceps which lashed out randomly striking at the air while the Grimm Creature was adjusting to the new limbs. Black tree roots made up its feet and lower legs in a contorted to seeming keep the creature's legs functionable. A burning red eye seemed to grow from the darkness in a newly created eye socket; its fully formed and already rotted goat skull of a head jerkily reared back into the air as it let out a deep, human like scream as it charged.
Jaune's awed voiced was silenced before he could even say a word as three of its tendrils ran straight through him with enough force to rival that of Boom Hammer. All around him was doused in thick paleblood as the tendrils sliced his insides, before quickly retreating to their owner to avoid The Hunter's blade. A beam of blue severed the thick muscle that made the Grimm's leg only for the remaining stump's edge to bubble violently and to burst into a fully developed and remade leg, which shot forwards to impossible lengths before implanting into the ground. Jaune could feel the pressure on his vocal cords build as he let out a beastly roar to deflect globules of Grimm liquid that the creature spat out. Jaune barely acknowledged the phlegm-like substance until it was too late. A sharp bramble shot through his side, only to be followed by more as the mucus seemed to grow into ridged thorny vines. It took less than as second for the Grimm to use the opportunity to wrap him in the barbed tendrils that made up its arms.
A mix of pressure and force caused his voice box to burst in a rain of pale liquid as he again let out anther roar and luckily managed to loosen the grasp the Grimm had on him, if only slightly. Jaune ignored the pale blood that pooled in his throat as he clawed and bit at the thick vines that kept him caged like a feral animal. Finally free from his enemy's hold he retreated slightly back before he raised a strange, otherworldly creature above his head. A small gap of the cosmos ripped open behind The Hunter as seven orbs of pure arcane energy shot from the vastness behind him towards the Grimm. Each part of his Call Beyond decimated sections of the Grimm's body with each successful impact blowing up the impact site into thick, black paste.
Nevertheless, a large swing from the Grimm sent him colliding into a tree, before the enraged abomination decided to finally end the fight before The Hunter could finish him off. Despite how he tried to fight it, the weight of the Grimm forced him deeper and deeper into the mud and farther away from the air. Even with his enhanced strength he struggled against the power behind the tendrils that forced him to farther into the deep murky pool. The entire event reminded him of a long-buried memory from the very first time he had went through the night of the hunt as he struggled to keep any breath he had left in him.
A warm mix of blood and sweat lightly trailed down his brow as he took breaths to fill his lungs before wrenching the dull edged Hunter's Axe form the lifeless form of the executioner. Small amounts of its thick blood squirted from its last wound over his already dirty Hunter's garb; the act making Jaune think that it was some form of slight revenge for taking their life. He had gotten better at handling the killing despite the ever-growing feeling of guilt and pleasure increased with each time he took a life, all he could do was hope that each life he took could end the eternal night that coated the blood-drenched city.
He had finished off the Witch of Hemwick after an annoyingly long fight of him hacking away at her eyeball covered body before she could disappear and reappear on the other side of the room with her thralls trying to cut him open, all while taking pot-shots of arcane energy at him along with a double. While it was not fun or entertaining, he still managed to kill the vile witch without dying once so, as he always did, tried to look on the bright side of the moonlight night.
With a shower of sparks his weapon grew longer as descended the hill. His body twisted on the way down in a prepared strike against yet another executioner. The very second that his weapon glinted a pale light his body spun in a quick heavy hit that sent the Executioner at the bottom of the hill tumbling forwards flat onto its large stomach and exposed its back to The Hunter. In a show of new gained skill, the axe that was in his hand disappeared and was quickly replaced with that of his blood-stained ancestral sword.
He could hear the painfilled groans from the Executioner, even if it were muffled from the closed iron helm that covered their head. Jaune had to block out the agonised grunts as he stabbed his sword at their unguarded back. In less than a second, he pulled the blade from the armoured creature's flesh and once again switched out to an axe and blunderbuss. A singular bang echoed as Jaune pulled the trigger just as the old axe blade of the Execution raised upwards as it tried to hack him in half. He prepared himself to execute his opponent only to feel the familiar pain of a bullet enter his back.
Jaune barely had time to recover before he needed to dodge a swift swipe of a hunting dog's blade only to panic as he looked at where it had come from. Growls and the sound of metal clashing came from in front of him as a pack of five dogs barrelled towards him. If he ran to escape, he would most likely be easily torn apart by their jagged blades and the Executioner's axe after being disabled by the gunman. He felt as if he had no choice but to deal with the rifle wielding Yharnamite. Jaune ran into the pack and dodged each rabid strike from the animals until he managed to hack into the gunner's side and crushed the Yharnamite's organs. Just as he had to roll under a leaping dog, Jaune saw the ever-familiar glimmering light of an item. He took a chance and ran to the corpse that dangled over the broken edge of the bridge.
He grasped at the flickering light only for the hazy image of a vertical line with even more lines that descended beneath it except for three at the right end that started above the base line but then descended beneath. He could hear a faint whisper just outside of his mind that tried to worm deeper into his brain.Only the very faint understanding of the Caryll rune was granted to him and before he realised, he had returned to the hunt. A singular hunting dog had pounced onto his back and into the depths below. The two plunged into the dark abyss as Jaune screamed and flailed about before he impacted into the powerful ocean waves. The dogs lifeless corpse was left impaled on an ascending stalagmite as Jaune tried to keep afloat with as much air as he get could get a hold on as the cold salty water slammed into his body. Some unseen force seemed to wrap around his body and, despite trying to fight it, was dragged under with a crushing hold. As the salty liquid invaded his lungs and the cold chilled him to his core. Each attempt to break to the surface was met with more and more resistance as the unseen monster forced his broken body farther into the lightless waters.
Jaune wished for his torment to end as more icy water cut into his engorged lungs. Whatever ability he had left to move his body left him from his muscle started to painfully jerk and writhe before finally falling ridged. Even as his almost dead, unmoving body was left in the water Jaune was left conscious from his endurance. All Jaune could do was scream in his mind as he felt each cell of his body wither and die. Even if it took a few minutes, to him it felt like an agonising lifetime.
In an instant The Hunter's body disappeared in a show of dazzling arcane energy that burned every inch of his surrounding, including the Grimm's tendrils. Slowly, the sound of light footsteps and clinking porcelain grew closer to the supposedly victorious monstrosity. Rage overcame the creature as a replica of The Hunter emerged from the fog with a copy of his Holy Moonlight great sword in his hands. Arcane energy spilt from the glowing edge in an arc towards the creature once it swung the flailing tentacle, yet the empty face of the doll-like being never shifted. Each of the brambled limbs were once again severed in a smooth act from The Fake Hunter.
Suddenly, before the Grimm could retaliate, Jaune's earlier shed pale blood formed into spear-like creations and dove straight into the abomination while being driven by an unseen force. They tore into the monstrosity at blinding speed. The Grimm let out a ringing roar as it dived at the porcelain clone, only to feel the strong weight of burning cosmic energy slam into its back with yet another puppet like copy of Jaune standing still glaring blankly at the creature with glass eyes.
A snarl escaped the Grimm as it turned to face the arcane user, all while it kept on the blade bearer, only for a silent quicksilver arrow to hit its exposed skull in a display of bone chips and black blood. Yet another porcelain Hunter dragged itself out of the fog, this time with the gleaming replica of Simon's bow blade in its hand. All three of the copies refused to move, even as the beast grew more and more agitated by the second
It lunged forward aiming for the bow holder, only for The Hunter's replicas to finally act. Each copy of The Hunter began to attack unrelentingly in a synchronised puppeteered state of perfect coordination all as unheard words rang throughout the Grimm's head, each muttering plunging deeper into the primitive state of its mind and forcing it to know of unknowable knowledge. Desperately seeking to blind itself to the accursed knowledge, its body began to betray itself as it began to tear at its own flesh.
Everything was numb compared to unending agony of the insight that was writhing within its brain, from the open wounds to the stifling air, nothing was compared to what was happening on its inside. The Grimm fell to the ground wearily unable to fight against the unemotional dolls that shambled back away from the barely alive creature. Not a single amount of effort would be mustered by the creature to try and look away from the vacant and yet filled space in front. All its thoughts ceased as it finally died as the formless Great One began to manipulate the lifeless limbs.
A choked cough from his own throat forced him awake to a soft breeze and the warm sun. He felt something off, other than the large amount of blood and sweat that drenched the inside of his coat, almost like he was missing something inside of him before he looked in front of him. Laid out in front of him was the mutilated corpse of the beast and the dispersing body of the Grimm set in the motion of the make contact gesture. For a split second, his eyes widened as he realised, he had either forced himself or was forced from the Nightmare with something else finishing his hunt.
A slight hiss wormed through his lips, a combination of the intense pain from his wounds and surprise at said pain, before he stumbled towards the motionless beast and forcing the heavy blade into the creatures hide. He let out a hushed pray for the person that the beast had been before, and for the plentiful cold lifeblood that quenched his thirst. Joyful growls echoed in his throat as he gorged on the thick fluid despite feeling as if something was off inside him. Alive and recuperating, he let his body fall limp against the dirty fur as he tried to grasp at his situation. Something was watching him; the manipulated bodies were a message to him and him alone. Deep within he tried to force his inner eyes open, only to find them clasp tight and sealed shut unmoving. A myriad of feeling quickly erupted inside him.
Fear at unknowing of the deeper truths around him. Confusion at how he was cut off from the more, even with the insight that he had about the world, and many more emotions that he could not quite place, but there was on distinct feeling. A true grin graced his pale face as he realised that he no longer could see what had, is and will happen. Mirthful chuckles turned to full, side hurting laughter as he realised, he was free from knowing and still being able to be independent.
