"This kid is on par with Cementoss. With another polish, he's going to be even better."

Nemuri's smile was already past a friendly grin and more of a predator smirk as she let her head swiveled, drinking the scenery that surrounded her. She was in the middle of a thick forest, rustling leaves, and calming breeze. Something that should not be possible when the area she chose as the location of the Final Exam was a plain field. With rocky terrain and looming hills. This change in territory happened after that kid with green hair—as green as the trees around—activated his quirk.

Kosuke Ueki. With the power to create a full-grown tree by using a mere thrash only. Impressive and very eco-friendly. No wonder he took Cementoss' offer to train under him in exchange for the internship.

Hanta had been swinging from branch to branch to escape Midnight's relentless strike like a certain comic book character clad in spandex. An admirable feat as well. How he used the constantly-changing terrain to his advantage, weaving through the trunk or throwing petty obstacles at their teacher to hinder her, such as twigs and leaves. Even though their Quirk looked incompatible at first glance, it seems they could establish sound teamwork as well-oiled as cogs in a clock.

Kayama had been spraying her pink fog through the forest since the beginning of the test, hoping to catch Ueki off guard, wherever he was. Unlike Hanta—or any of his classmates, really—his hero costume was literally his previous junior high uniform. Plain white shirt and long, black pants. No taste at all (even if he said he wanted to camouflage himself as a normal civilian when he becomes a hero and started his solo patrol; he'll add a black coat on top of it when he's an adult. Rather than his costume, Ueki needed to take care of his colorful hair firsthand and foremost. That shade of color is eye-catching). And most importantly, he had no helmet to protect his nose from sniffing in the smoke. Even if the trees he grew still stood strong, the kid must be knocked out cold right about no—

Kayama swerved wide when a giant gauntlet made of wood and iron sprouted right under her feet.

Welp. Scratch that thought, then.

Where is he? She didn't see him anywhere. And Kayama was already standing at the tallest tree possible as well. The only one she could spot was Hanta. Who, noting how the 18+ hero got distracted by his friend's surprise attack, eagerly went past her, launching himself right toward the exit.

Oh, she couldn't let him do that.

Yet no matter how she tried to chase after the kid once again and stop him from advancing, Kayama got cockblocked by the other examiner. Ranging from a gigantic sword that slashed through the foliage—though he sprouted a new one to stop her from using the recently open road as her way through—, large, black-yellow columns that crisscrossed the air, a big mouth that nearly chomped her hair off, a giant whip that put Kayama's own to shame. Ueki even tried to capture her using a thick box made of wood. Not to mention, how Hanta had been leaving his plaster around the barks, causing Kayama to get stuck on it occasionally. She may be a hero. May be one of the best in stopping a villain rampage without many casualties. But in a turf that was definitely not hers, full with traps that were specifically made to slow down even a competent soldier, she knew—

Hanta passed through the exit with a flourish, crying and yelling in delight all the way.

—that she never had any chance.

Oh, these kids. Kayama cackled when a big, wooden box rose from the ground. Each of its compartment fell and out was Ueki, eyes half-lidded and sporting a lopsided grin (cheeks suspiciously red, for some reason). They're definitely going to be a great hero.

Law of Ueki (manga and anime) belongs to Fukuchi Tsubasa

Setting: Ueki is just a normal human here.

Ueki's Quirk: Sprout and Mold (it depends on the material of the thrashes he used. An example: elastic band for a whip. A tin can for a sword. Or he could combine both of them to create more durable weapons)

Series or One-shot?: One-shot

BONUS:

Kayama: "by the way," *pointed at Ueki's swollen face*, "what's up with that?"

Ueki: "This? Even if I hide under the ground, I still need to breathe. But your Quirk makes me sleepy. So, I created a slap machine (manually powered by a rotating handle) to keep myself awake."

Hanta: "wait…that's your backup plan?!"

Kayama: "…I don't know if I should call you an idiot or a genius…"
