We all need someone to stay
We all need someone to stay
Mondays had never been Ayami's favorite day, even now that she had been starting at a new school, she had known it was going to be the same as the time she had spend in Kyoto. Alone and friendless. because who in there right mind would ever want to be friends with a monster like her?
after all, it had been her fault that her family had fallen apart in the first place.
Sighing, she gets out of bed and quickly begins getting herself ready for the day.
Putting her grayish white hair in a ponytail, she gives herself one last look over making sure she looked okay, before making her way into the kitchen.
"Goodmorning, Yami, did you sleep well?"Her grandmother, who had just finished preparing breakfast asked.
Ayami rolls her eyes at her grandmother's nickname for her but smiles nonetheless.
"mmh."
"Good, your mother and grandfather should be joining us for breakfast shortly."
Ayami flinched, her relationship with her mother being anything but perfect since the accident.
As if on cue, her grandfather enters the room, a look of pure annoyance on his face as he sat down across from his granddaughter.
"Morning grandpa!" Ayami greeted with a smile.
"Good morning, Aymi."
"Will Kiko be joining us for breakfast this morning?" her grandmother asked and sets a plate of food down in front of the two.
"Eventually, she's up stairs doing some last minute packing."
"Packing, is she going on a trip?" Ayami asked and shoved a spoonful of eggs into her mouth.
"We have to go out of town, your aunt Ren went into labor this morning and needs us there to help take care of the baby."
"That means, we're leaving the house in your care well we're away." Her grandfather says, setting his spoon down on the table.
"The house will be fine grandpa, it's only my first day of school, it's not like I'm going to make friends on the first day or anything." Or at all. she thought to herself as her grandfather stood up again.
"This place is still your home Ayami, I know you dont remember much of your childhood spent here." he pauses for a moment, sadness clear on the man's face as he continues."but I'm sure you're going to make friends, some you may have already met."
"Your so strange, grandpa." the girl replied with a giggle.
Grabbing his plate and placing it in the sink, he walks over to Ayami, giving her a head pat just like he had when she was a kid."We need to go finish packing, but make sure if we're not back by the time you leave, come say goodbye, alright?"
"Yeah, I will."
with that, she was left alone again.
finishing up the last of the dishes, Ayami dries her hands quickly, looking up at the clock. 7:45am.
Guess I should get going. she thought to herself as she begins making her way towards the door only to be stopped by her mother who had walked in, her eyes darkening the second she caught sigh of the girl.
"I should be going, don't want to be late-" She was cut off by her mother's hand striking her face. hard.
"You can leave when I tell you you can leave, understood?! I'm still your mother Ayami, no matter what your grandmother says!" she yelled and takes a step closer to Ayami. "It's your fault their dead. It should have been you who died in that accident not them. I hate you for that, I hate you for killing your father and brother, you monster!"
her mother yelled, her fingers tangling into her daughter's recently styled hair.
Ayami stayed silent though, knowing her mothers words were true.
If it hadn't been for her making them move away so suddenly, maybe her dad and her brother would be alive right now.
Asahi had only been eleven years old when he had passed away. he never got the chance to experience thinks kids his age should have.
And it was all her fault.
Why? why did they have to protect her?
Why did it have to be them who passed away that night?
She was the one responsible for her mothers pain these last 5 years..
The reason her family had fallen apart.
The reason her mother started drinking.
The reason her mother had lost the house.
The reason they had to move back in with her grandparents.
It was all her fault...
she was to blame.
She decided this, all of it..
"That's quite enough Aio." Kiko hissed at her daughter in law, her blue eyes dark as they met with gray."Or your out of here and we'll take full guardianship of Ayami just like the attorney said."
the two glared at each other for a moment before eventually, Aio lets go of her daughter's hair, strands of white hair in between her fingers as she pulls away.
Fixing herself quickly, Ayami stands up and makes her way towards the door, slipping on her shoes and backback, before turning to look over at her grandparents."Have a safe trip, I'll see you when you get back."
she walks out of the house without even a second glance back to see if her grandparents were watching her as she left.
"You stupid cat, dont you ever get tired of your empty threats?" Yuki sighs from beside Tohru.
Who are you calling stupid, you damn rodent!" Kyo responded just as irritated as Yuki.
Yuki didn't understand what kyo was so damn mad about when he was clearly at fault here for being mean to Tohru again.
Tohru being the angel she was, tries her best to disperse the fight simply to be ignored by the two zodiac members as always.
she sighs and continues to walk beside the two, deep in her thoughts.
It wasn't until Tohru had accidentally ran into someone sending both girls tumbling to the ground that the two had finally stopped fighting.
"Are you Alright Tohru?" Kyo asked and holds out a hand for Tohru, Who had, of course, took it without hesitation.
"Im fine." she smiles before looking down at Ayami who had been to busy starting at Yuki, something about him felt strangely familiar to her.
This had all seemed like a dream to Yuki, He had thought once she had moved away he was never going to see her again, Yet, here she was standing in front of him.
Are you alright?" Tohru smiles and holds out a hand for the girl.
"I'm fine, I should have been watching where I was going. " Ayami smiles and takes her hand." by the way I'm Ayami Onigasaki, I just moved back here from Kyoto. Well, moved back, I guess, my grandparents said I used to live here back when I was little but I don't remember much from my childhood, so I couldn't tell you much."
Yuki flinches, knowing the real reason why she can't remember anything from her time spent here. If he had been a little more careful maybe she-
"It's a pleasure to meet you Ayami, my name is Tohru Honda and these are my friends Kyo and Yuki Sohma."Tohru smiles brightly.
"It's a pleasure to meet all of you." Akira bows still trying to wrap her head around what was happening, that warm, familiar feeling returning full swing as she stared at Yuki.
"It's nice to meet you Miss Onigasaki." Yuki smiles, It was a sad smile but a smile nonetheless.
He wasn't going to ruin things with her this time around.
