Jade couldn't imagine having her father's child, so she decided to get an abortion right away and the doctors proceeded to end her pregnancy. However, she was still depressed and her friends and family took turns to keep an eye on her because they couldn't risk it, she was suicidal and she had the means to end her life if left unsupervised.

"Welcome home" Evelyn said as they walked into the house, Jade had been released from the hospital but she still had to be in bed rest.

"We bought your favorite cake" Diana said nicely.

"Thanks, but…I'm not hungry, I'll be in my room" Jade simply said and went upstairs, so they looked at each other.

"Should we let her go alone?" Tori asked worriedly.

"I don't feel comfortable with the idea, but we can't be with her every second of the day, her therapist said she needs time" Evelyn commented.

"What if she uses it to off herself? We can't allow it" Beck said.

"I agree with Beck" Mr. West said.

"I'll go with her" Tori said and they nodded, so she went upstairs and found Jade standing outside her room, she hadn't even opened the door, she was just standing there staring at the door and thinking, it was like standing outside the door of freedom, the freedom that being Jade gave her but she couldn't feel at peace with it, part of her felt she was just the 'girl' from the room and nothing more.

"Jade, what's the matter?" Tori asked.

"Why are you here? Making sure I don't jump off the window?" Jade asked coldly and Tori looked down "Don't worry, I'm sure you know they already took care of that, there are bars outside my window and I bet they also took all my pills and scissors as well"

"You can never be too careful, we know you're going through a lot" Tori said.

"I don't need a babysitter" Jade simply responded and opened the door, she walked inside and looked around, she'd never imagined she'd be back in her old room.

"What is it? Did something change?" Tori asked when she saw Jade just looking around.

"No, it's exactly as I remembered it" Jade said with a little smile, it was a weird feeling because she still felt empty, but being back in her old room gave her comfort.

"So…do you need anything?" Tori asked.

"I need you to get the out and leave me alone, I want to sleep" She responded.

"You know I can't do that, it's me or someone else" Tori said and Jade rolled her eyes.

"I'm not gonna kill myself, Tori, I just need some space" She raid annoyed and Tori sighed.

"Fine, but we'll be checking in, so don't lock the door" She said and left, Jade simply laid down on the bed and took a breath. Being in her room allowed her to detach and get into Jade's life again, it gave her peace, so she smiled to herself and closed her eyes to sleep. It was nice to sleep knowing she was safe, she hadn't felt safe in a long time.

Jade continued attending her therapy sessions three times a week and her parents made sure to keep an eye on her, they constantly monitored her room to make sure she didn't have anything she could use to hurt herself but the truth was Jade hadn't planned another suicide attempt, she was just trying to get back to her old life, she wanted to feel good, but she couldn't.

"Hey babe" Beck said as he kissed Jade's cheek and sat down next to her during lunch.

"Hey" Jade said.

"Two sugars" He said and handed her a cup of coffee, so she smiled and took it.

"Thanks"

"How was therapy?" Beck asked.

"You know, normal…I guess" Jade said and sighed "She said I might have to start medication"

"Okay, well…if that helps, it's good, right?" He commented and she nodded, but she stayed quiet "What is it? What's bothering you?"

"The trial starts next week" Jade said referring to her father's trial.

"It's going to be okay, your dad said there is no way they'll find him innocent" Beck said and held her hand.

"I have to testify and he'll be there, he'll hear me" Jade said.

"You will tell the truth, there is no reason to worry…He can't hurt you anymore" He affirmed and she looked at him ashamedly.

"I know, but…" She said and looked down.

"Jade, what is it? You can tell me" He responded.

"He is my dad…" Jade said as a couple of tears streamed down her cheeks "I love him…in a way, I'm sorry…I, I can't help it" She admitted and he sighed, so she looked away, she didn't want to see the disappointment in his face "You must think I'm…" she started.

"That you are what?" He asked gently.

"I don't know…disgusting? Crazy? Sick?" Jade said and shook her head "I know I should hate him and I do, but…"

"You also love him because he is your dad, I understand" Beck affirmed and held her face sweetly to make her look at him "It doesn't make you sick or disgusting or crazy"

"He ruined my life, I should not care about him, I should wish him the worst…and I do, but…" Jade repeated and shook her head "I don't want to feel like this, I don't want to feel guilty about sending him to prison"

"That will fade, just remember this is not your fault, he is where he belongs" Beck said and she nodded "And we'll be there for you, so you can just look at me when you testify, okay?" He said and she nodded.

"Beck?" Jade said.

"Yes?" He asked.

"Do you love me like before? Even after finding out the truth about me?" Jade asked sincerely.

"Why do you ask me that?" He questioned back.

"You know why" Jade said emotionlessly "You know what my life was like before we met, you know what has happened since Diana came back, you didn't have that information before and I never wanted you to find out"

"Your life before we met was hell and every time I think about it, I feel the need to break those bastard's necks with my own hands and what happened after Diana came back was horrible too, you deserved better" Beck commented.

"You know I was about to become a prostitute and you know my dad impregnated me not long ago, you can't tell me you don't care" Jade said almost confronting him and he took a breath as he stared at her.

"Of course I care, Jade, how could I not? You are my girlfriend" He responded "I hate to know all those things happened to you, I wish I could turn back time and protect you-" He continued but she cut him off.

"That's not what I mean and you know it" Jade said upset "Why are you still with me?" She asked.

"Do you want the truth?" He asked emotionlessly.

"Yes, just be honest" Jade demanded expecting him to admit he didn't really want to stay with her.

"Listen to me carefully, because it's really important for me that you understand this" Beck said and held her face gently to make her face him "What happened doesn't change the way I see you, not even a little, you're still you, you're still my girlfriend, the strongest person I know and nothing could ever make me see you differently" He affirmed and a couple of tears streamed down her cheeks, she loved him so much.

"Are you sure?" Jade asked and he gave her a sweet kiss on the lips.

"Absolutely" He affirmed and smiled "I love you, Jade, that hasn't changed" He said and she smiled sweetly at him.

"I love you too"

The day of the trial came and Jade was called to the stand to testify against her father, so she took the oath and sat down nervously.

"Miss Jade, right?" Her father's lawyer said and she nodded "That's the name you stole when you ran away from your house"

"I didn't have one, so I took it" Jade said and he smiled.

"You sure about that? I have your birth certificate here and you do have a name, you know it but you lied" He affirmed.

"What? No" She responded.

"Do you know how to read?" He asked and she rolled her eyes.

"Yes"

"Hold on, didn't you say my client had you locked up in a basement all your life? How come you know how to read?" He asked.

"He taught me" Jade said.

"Why would he do that if he wanted to keep you imprisoned?" The lawyer asked.

"You should ask him" She responded and her father smiled as he kept his eyes on her, she was trying not to look at him but she could feel him.

"We'll get to that later, could you please read this?" He requested and handed her a paper "Please read it out loud"

"Birth certificate of Chloe Anderson, issued by the State of North Carolina" Jade read and looked at him surprised "This is mine?" She asked.

"Of course it's yours, miss Chloe, that's your real name" The man said and Jade looked at her parents surprised "But don't look so surprised, you knew it already"

"No, I didn't" Jade responded

"Yes, you did because your father raised you like any normal kid, you were homeschooled, but you had friends and you had a normal life with a loving father" The attorney said and she stared at him confused.

"No, that's not-"She started but he cut her off.

"Not true? You sure about that?" He asked and she looked at him confused, he was being too aggressive to her and making her doubt her own story "Please tell us more about the context of this photograph" He said and turned on the screen so everyone saw a picture of Jade as a child with her father. She was around eight years old, she was smiling happily and her father was hugging her, they were sitting on a red carpet on the floor and there were lots of presents around them.

Jade looked at the picture on the screen and immediately remembered that day, along with all the other good ones she'd had. The days when her father was her father, the days when he would bring her presents with no ulterior motive, cook for her and spend time teaching her school things. She smiled a little and a couple of tears streamed down her cheeks.

"So…what was happening here?" The lawyer asked.

"Um…it was my birthday" Jade said "Dad brought me lots of presents and pizza and milkshakes to celebrate" She commented and looked at her father, who smiled at her so she looked at him mortified, she suddenly felt invaded with guilt.

"That was it? No some sob story about how cruel he was to you?" The lawyer asked and she looked down "That child looks happy to me, don't you think?" He asked as he pointed at the screen and she nodded.

"She was" Jade said.

"So, what was it? Were you a slave or were you a happy child?" The lawyer asked and she looked at her father nervously, she felt so bad about being there accusing him. She hated him, she did but she also loved him and she couldn't think about anything other than the good times as she stared at the photo, so she felt horrible.

"I…I don't know" Jade said and her friends looked at each other.

"You don't know? Then why did you go around telling everybody you were abused?" The lawyer asked and she shook her head, she felt speechless "I'll tell you why, you're con artist and you wanted to be a rich girl so you abandoned your hardworking father and lied your way into a rich family"

"No…" Jade said.

"Just admit it, you're a liar, you lied about your name, you lied about your father, you lied about your life, you lied about everything, can you even tell what's real at this point?" He affirmed and he sounded so sure, that even she started to believe it. She could only think about those happy moments with her father, she could only think about all the times he'd said he loved her and she regretted everything.

"I…" Jade muttered and looked at her father.

"Take a breath and tell us all the truth, be honest" The lawyer demanded and her parents looked at each other nervously, she looked completely unsettled and she didn't take her eyes off her father "Who is that man?" He asked and pointed to her dad.

"My dad" Jade said.

"That's right, your dad, he took care of you, he fed you, he taught you, he protected you and he loved you, didn't he?" The man asked and she nodded, so her father smiled and she smiled back at him.

"Yes" She said, still smiling at her dad as he smiled back at her.

"You love him too, don't you?" The lawyer asked nicely and she nodded "When he took you back to your real home a couple of months ago, what happened?" He asked and Jade looked at the lawyer for a few moments, but then she looked back at her father.

"He said he wanted to protect me because the world didn't understand our love" Jade said, she wanted to avoid openly accusing him at that point, she felt incredibly guilty.

"Your love is pretty special, uh?" The man commented and Jade's father smiled at her, so she smiled back again "You're eighteen now, so…what you did is legal, it's not conventional, but it's legal, you know that, right?" He asked referring to the sex, but she didn't understand him.

"What?" Jade asked confused and the man smiled.

"It's okay, Jade, no one is going to judge you, but you have to make things right, you have to tell the truth" The lawyer said "You wanted to be with your father, right?" He affirmed, but he framed it as a question, so she stared at him nervously and then looked at her father, who was smiling at her sweetly.

"I…" Jade started but she didn't know what to do, she wanted to say no but seeing her father's smile made her feel compelled to say yes, she wanted him to forgive her and she didn't care about anything else in that moment.

"Just answer the question, yes or no" The lawyer demanded nicely and her father nodded at her, so she instinctively nodded back.

"Yes" Jade said and her father smiled, so she smiled back at him, she felt like a child trying to get reassurance that everything was fine, that he forgave her and that he still loved her.

"What is she doing?" Tori asked confused and Beck shook his head mortified, he knew she was losing it.

"This isn't good" Mr. West whispered to his wife and she covered her face in frustration, she just wanted to get Jade off the stand, it was clear she didn't want to be there, she had just lied in open court to protect her father and they weren't sure she would be able to incriminate him, she was just looking at him with a sorry smile and tears in her eyes. What had begun as an easy conviction, suddenly turned into a gamble.
