Hello! I will try to be regularly updating for this story, along with Serena's Journey and my newest fanfic, Royale High Journey. Please check them out if you haven't! Also don't be afraid to share your thoughts SquirrelLeaf Squad! Review the chapters at any time; it helps me know if a part needs tweaking. Anyways, enjoy this newest chapter of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: A Dawning Path! Oh, and if you haven't already, can you guess each character based off the enemy team mentioned in each chapter? The teams include one Pokemon that is related to the character, so it shouldn't be too difficult to base your answers.
Pikachu followed Charmander all the way to the bulletin board. The line seemed to be moving quite quickly, and the pair were soon at the board with Charmander holding a quill pen and looking thoughtful. "We need a team name, and a good one." He turned over his shoulder to look at Pikachu. "Do you have any good names?"
"M-me?" Pikachu asked, looking shocked. "I dunno... Maybe... Team... Thunder?" It had been last minute naming, and he wasn't quite sure if it would be good.
"I like that!" Charmander scribbled down the name. "It sounds spunky... fast... just like us!"
Pikachu nodded, pleased that his friend liked the choice just as much as he did. The pair turned around, ready to leave when a large orange foot stomped in the way of the two. "Where are you going, punks?"
The two Pokemon gulped nervously and craned their necks to look up. A Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur stood firmly on the ground.
"You don't happen to be Team Rock, do you?" Charmander asked the question as if he hoped that the answer was a no.
"Yeah." Blastoise was the Pokemon to answer. "Why? Is it because you admire us?"
Pikachu, hoping that if they answered yes the Pokemon would leave them, opened his mouth to respond. Charmander butted in though with his: "Uh-uh." Pikachu shot a glare at his companion.
"Well then, too bad for you." Charizard opened his mouth, prepared to leave the two with large scorch marks.
Venusaur stopped him. "Wait, wait, wait. If we just hurt them now, they'll be spending too much time recovering that we can't beat them in a dungeon."
Pikachu and Charmander sighed huge breaths of relief.
"Hrm..." Charizard looked thoughtful for a heartbeat. "Alright then. Well punks, today's your luck day. You'll have to wait till later to get your just reward." He turned around, signaling for the others to follow him. Pikachu and Charmander watched silently as they made their way over the hill.
Once Team Rock was out of sight, Pikachu faced Charmander, and gave him a piece of his mind. "WHY DID YOU SAY NO TO THEM? ARE YOU DUMB?"
Charmander looked shocked. "No, of course not! But I can't lie, can I? Or do you want them to get even worse because they find out we aren't telling the truth?"
Pikachu realized that Charmander was trying to make a smart reply. "We can always keep it a secret." His face turned red with anger.
"I don't have the time for arguing and I sure as day don't have the time to try and keep a 'secret.'" Charmander whirled around. "Are you coming or not? We still have to open the boxes, or are you too hot-headed to be a part of this team?"
Pikachu nearly took out a mallet to whop the Fire-Type over the head, but tried to keep his temper down to a minimum. "Fine."
Charmander unwrapped two scarves and handed one to Pikachu. The scarves were a bright yellow. The pair put them on and also pinned on two badges, their fight nearly forgotten.
"Someone has to carry the tool bag," Charmander brought up. "Do you want to, or should I?" Pikachu noticed he was trying to make up for the bickering, and nodded. "Yeah. Sorry."
Charmander's blue eyes showed bright emotion. "Me too." He turned around again. "I have a little surprise for you; do you want to come?"
Pikachu nodded eagerly once more. "Yes please!"
