Hi everyone, welcome to the new chapter of ''Midpoint''.

I would appreciate any feedback I would get, as long as it is done with respect.

Warning: All my stories will have a HEA (what can I say, I am a sucker for those).

In the case of violence, I will warn you at the beginning of the chapter.

XO

''Let her go, Masen!'' I hear Jasper shout behind me, always my protector.

Edward smirked and gave him the finger. I rolled my eyes; this was going to be a long night.

''Fuck off Masen, I have nothing to do with you,'' I said.

He raised an eyebrow, ''I beg to differ.''

Before I could say anything else, blue and red light flashed through the dimly lighted field.

Fuck. Just when I thought that things couldn't get worse. I tried to turn around, but Edward's hand on my arm stopped me. I looked up to see him watching me with a frown on his face. I tried to pull my arm, but his grip only tightened. ''Let me go.''

''Don't think so, Princess.'' I could hear the sirens now too. Someone must have called the cops.

''Let her go, Edward!'' this time it was Rose.

''Edward,'' I said, pulling my arm again.

Edward bend, now we were the same height. For a few seconds, he only looked intensively in my eyes. His eyes were deep emeralds, never had I seen such a vibrant eye color. ''Edward,'' I said again, pulling him from whatever he was under. ''This isn't over,'' and with that, he let me go. I gave him a tiny nod, knowing that this wasn't indeed over.

I quickly turned around and crawled through the hole, where my friends were waiting for me. Rose promptly grabbed my hand as I stood up, and together, we run, well, she ran while I hopped to where we had parked the cars. My ankle hurt like a bitch. Fuck, it was going to swell. Just as I turned the corner, I turned around to see Edward making his way back to the building.

''We have to drive without lights, at least until we are off this street,'' warned Peter, before climbing into the passenger seat of Jasper's car.

I opened the driver's door, only for Rose to get in. ''Your foot,'' she said, noticing the look on my face. I nodded; she was right, I wasn't in a state to drive. I hopped over to the passenger's side. Rosalie quickly started the engine after I closed the door. In silence, she began to drove behind Jasper's car.

After a few minutes, we were off the street. Rose turned on the lights and pressed on the gas. Within ten minutes, we were back on our side of the town.

Since Rose's parents were out of town, we had decided to go back there after we were finished. Once inside, I took off my jacket and shoes.

''Fuck, that looks bad,'' said Angela, noticing my swollen ankle. I grimaced.

''Here,'' Rose said, holding an icepack. I took it from her and put it in on my ankle. The cold felt terrific against my heated skin. The others made themselves comfortable too. This had been a close call. If the cops had caught us, we would have been screwed. Not only would we have been caught trespassing, but we would also have gotten suspended from school too. The rivalry between South and North was famous throughout the whole Pacific Northwest. Both schools turned the other cheek when their students trespassed the other school, well as long as you were not caught.

The ringing of the doorbell pulled me back from my thoughts. After paying the deliverer, Jasper brought the pizzas into the room. After everyone had a slice, Peter broke the silence,

''So, that was fucking close, eh?'' I snorted.

''What I don't understand is why Edward was there too,'' Jasper said, always the voice of reason.

''Probably trying to steal some shit,'' Laurent said nonchalantly. I rolled my eyes.

''Are we sure that he was alone?'' Rose asked from my right.

''What do you mean?'' Bree asked.

Rose shrugged, ''Think about it, Edward wouldn't have let Bella go if he wanted us to get caught.''

''So, he didn't call the cops.'' I finished, understanding where she was going with that train of thought.

Rose nodded, ''Which means that at least someone else was with him too.''

''Garret and Emmet,'' Angela mumbled. I nodded, those three were like the three horsemen. Where one went, the others followed.

''Crap!'' I shouted, sitting up straight. ''Think about it, them being there means that they had expected an attack from us. They were prepared.'' I explained, seeing the questioned look on their faces.

I could see that it dawned on them what this could mean. ''Fuck!'' Rose stood up and went out of the room. Within a few seconds, she was back with her MacBook in her hand. She put in on the table and opened the app that we had downloaded. I sighed in relief when I saw that the cameras were still in their places.

''It looks like nothing has changed,'' Alice noticed.

'Good, because I would have killed someone if my ankle went in vain.''

''You should let your dad check that out, Bells,'' Jasper said, nodding to my ankle.

''Come on, I'll drive you home,'' Riley said, standing up before I could say anything else.

''Don't worry about your car, I'll pick you up in it tomorrow.'' Said Rose. I nodded and stood up. I put my jacket and shoes back on. After a hug to Rose and a goodbye to the rest, Riley and I left Rose's house.

The drive to my house was awkward. I could see Riley's hand twitch a few times on the steering wheel but tried to pay no mind to it, knowing that I would only open a can of worms. He still wasn't over his crush on me, despite me saying no to him when he had asked me on a date a few weeks ago. While I tried to act normal, like it hadn't happened for the sake of our friendship and group, he still would find a way to put me in an uncomfortable situation. Not that Riley was a bad guy, far from it. I just never saw him more than a friend. Besides, Bree has a crush on him for ages now and as a friend, that is a line you can't cross.

I sighed in relief when he stopped his car in front of my house. After a quick thank you, I opened the door and stepped out, ignoring his, ''let me help you''.

After a last wave, I turned around and hopped to the front door. Turning the knob, I let myself in. My parents were sitting in front of the tv, watching a movie. When they saw me hopping into the room, the movie was quickly forgotten.

.M.

The next morning, my mom's shouting woke me up.

''I am up, I am up,'' I shouted back. Looking back at the clock that was on my bedside table, I saw that is was just half past 7. I had an hour to make it on time for school.

I quickly went through my morning routine and put my school uniform on. Black plaited skirt that reached just above my knees, a white blouse and a navy sweater with gold stitching. Since my dad had wrapped my ankle with the instructions that I should take it easy, I opted to wear my flat black ankle boots instead of my usual heeled boots. I combed my long hair in a loose French braid and put some mascara and lip-gloss on.

After checking if I had everything in my backpack, I made my way downstairs. My mom had my breakfast on the table already. After a good morning and a kiss on the cheek, I began to eat. My dad already left for his shift at the hospital.

''Your dad said that you could take this if you are in pain,'' my mom said, giving me some aspirins. I nodded, ''Thank you,''

''What time would you be home today?'' asked mom. I shrugged, ''I was planning to practice for an hour or so in the gym, but I don't think that is a good idea.''

Mom patted my hand, ''I am sorry, sweetie, but you have to take it easy for a few days, or I am afraid you can't participate in the competition too.'' My shoulders hunched forward; this, my dad told me already.

''It just sucks that I can't practice so close to the competition.''

''You will do great, you always do.'' Said mom trying to lift my spirits, ''Now, it is time for school, Rose would be here in a second.'' I nodded and stood up. After kissing her goodbye, I made my way to the front door. Just as I was about to close it behind me, Rose pulled up.

''Hiya bitch,'' she said once I sat down on the passenger seat.

''Morning.''

''How is the ankle?'' I had already told her about my dad's instruction when she had called me last night.

''Meh,'' I said.

''Lift your spirits, today is going to be epic,'' Rose said, nudging my left shoulder with her right.

I grinned; she was right. Today was going to be epic.

Rose seeing my smile, gave me a grin and turned on my iPod.

.M.

''You ready?'' asked Jasper once Rose and I made it to our first period. The others were there already. At South High School, the pep rallies were held as the first thing in the morning, while at North, the first period is homerun. The school was small enough to have one homerun class, so all the juniors were in the same class.

We all grinned and nodded. He opened his laptop and gave it to Ben, our tech guru. Ben did a few things on the keyboard and then gave it back to Jasper. When the bell rang, we took our seats. Rose and I were sitting next to each other on the left side of the class, by the windows. Jasper was sitting in front of us. When the second bell rang, Jasper hit enter. His laptop was now connected with every television in each class. I clasped my hands together and waited.

With one click, the screens showed us now the basketball court of South High School. The class fell silent when they saw that they were watching their pep rally live. South High School students were having fun and chanting. The football and basketball team were in the middle of the court, hyping the crowd.

They were waiting like lambs that were about to be slaughtered, I thought. Ben turned to us, after seeing our nods, he took out a small device from his pocket. Without a second thought, he hit the red button on it.

4…, 3…, 2…, I thought.

By one, the screams of South High School students were mixed with our laughter. People were howling and hitting their tables. I, too, was laughing so hard that I had tears streaming down my face.

The image on the screen was fabulous. All the students and some faculty members were decked in the silver and blue plaint. By pushing the red button, the rope that was holding the blanket fell, allowing the paint-filled balloons to splatter around the whole court.

''Oh God, oh God, I can't'' said Rose between her laughter. Her face was red.

The others weren't far of too. This was epic. The best the North High School had ever done. Last year we were sophomores, which made it impossible for us to take part in the revenge stuff seeing that the juniors and seniors had that right. This year, however, we were free to do anything without stepping on some toes. This was going to be our year.

After a few minutes, the teachers called backorder. The rest of the morning flew by. Everyone was in high spirits after watching the show during the first period. Before I knew it, the bell for lunch rang. As I stood up from my chair, my phone began to thrill, announcing that I had an incoming text. I opened-

Fuck, I thought as I read the message.

Is this how you pay me?

You own me twice now, and I intended to collect it.

I am waiting for you under the bridge.

It wasn't signed, yet I knew who had sent it. I took a deep breath and turned to Angela, who was already waiting for me by the door.

''Ang, you go ahead, I forgot something at home,'' I said once I made my way to her.

''Do you want me to ride you?'', fuck, I hadn't thought about that. I couldn't drive.

''No, no, I already called an uber.'' Or I was going to.

''You sure?''

''Yes, I'll see you after lunch.'' She still looked unsure but nodded anyway.

I gave her a wave and then made my way to the parking lot. I quickly called for an uber. Within five minutes, the uber had arrived. After telling him to drop me off by the bridge, I opened a new text message to text Rose that I was going home and would be right back.

After a few minutes, the uber stopped. I paid the driver and made my way to the bridge. Just on the right side was a narrow staircase that led to under the bridge. I went carefully down the stairs, minding my ankle. Just when I took the last step, a hand grabbed me from my wrist and pulled me to him. Before I could say anything, a familiar pair of lips met my own. His smell surrounded me. I closed my eyes and let myself go. After a few seconds or minutes, he pulled back. We were standing now nose to nose, his head against mine. I could feel his breath on my face.

''That was one.''

I grinned. ''If I had known that you would pay me like this, I would have done this a few times already.''

He pulled a bit back, ''Not funny, I still haven't got all that paint off me.''

I put my arms around his waist and pulled him closer. ''Then thank your lucky girlfriend for choosing body paints instead of the regular or you would have had it worse.''

He hummed and kissed my head. ''Thank you, but you know that I will get you back for this?''

I nodded.

''And I will not hold back,'' I nodded again, I wouldn't expect anything less.

''Fuck, your ankle.'' He shouted suddenly.

''I am fine, my dad wrap-'' before I could finish, he had already pulled me down on the ground and removed my shoe. ''I am so sorry, Princess,'' he said in a painful voice. I shook my head and put my hands on his face, ''It was an accident.''

''But,-''

''But, nothing, I only have to take it easy for a few days, and then it will be back to normal,'' I said, interrupting him. ''Really,'' I said when I saw that he wasn't entirely convinced.

''Now, what did you say about owning you twice?'' He smiled to himself and moved closer. Our eyes met. There was so much love and adoration in them. I felt vulnerable under his look. Never had someone looked at me like he did.

He closed the gap between us and kissed me again.

There, under the bridge that connected the North and the South, was a girl and a boy from two different parts, enjoying the presence of first love.

So, what do you guys think so far? ^^

P.S. Don't forget to share your thoughts with me.

Lots of love and hugs,
