The Tales Of The Mighty Siphoner

Disclaimer: I do not own Vampire Diaries or Originals, or anything else set in that universe, they belong to the rightful owners. I do not own anything from any other fiction I use or reference either, they all belong to their rightful owners.

A/N: The original fic was written by baringan on this site. Link on Profile.

Someone once posted a comment asking what is the point of making an story almost identical to the original story with only minor tweaks.

I think the original story is one of the best stories I have read on this site, a total re-write could ruin it; there are just some small things I want to change. I originally made the re-write only for myself, but I decided to post it just in case anyone else might want to read it.

Some things weren't explained in baringan's version, so I will be adding my own explanations; readers and the original writer, baringan, might not like what I add, the changes I make, and, or, my reasons or explanations - and that is your opinion; I like the changes I make, the things I add, and my reasons and explanations.

Because there are multiple things I want to add, there will be a LOT of extra text.

In the original story, the original fic's writer, baringan, sometimes says Kai is 'truly immortal'.

Immortals, what Silas and Amara used to be, were also described as being 'truly immortal', but to me, they weren't; because their immortality could be removed. It could only happen in a few ways, but it could still happen. The Kai in baringan's fic could also have his immortality removed. With enough power, that version of him could also be killed.

For my story, I will use my idea of true immortality - immortality that makes it so the person who has it can never ever die; no matter what.

Part of this means it is completely impossible to remove my kind of true immortality - and I mean completely impossible; there aren't, and there never will be, any exceptions and, or, workarounds that could be used to remove my kind of true immortality from the person who has it, or even to weaken their connection to it, or to kill the person who has it.

I have done this because, to me, being able to remove someone's immortality means that there is a way for them to die. So, based on my version of true immortality, Silas and Amara, and the version of Kai in baringan's fic, were never truly immortal.

I will put this top A/N in each chapter, so if someone in the story mentions something can kill Kai, readers will know it is just what they think; it is not actually true.

This kind of immortality, which Kai will have, only means he can't ever die - it does not mean that Kai can't lose a fight, or that he can't be taken out in some other way. After all, there are many ways of taking someone down without killing them.

While I like stories where my favourite character, or characters, have more abilities, skills, and power and powers, than they have in canon, I generally dislike ones where they get them without any explanations; especially ones that it shouldn't be possible for them to have. I believe any and all powers a character gains should have an explanation for how the character gains them. I do have an idea that I may use to give my version of Kai powers and abilities that he would not be able to get normally - but at least that will have an explanation; not just him randomly having them.

I also generally dislike ones where they make them totally unbeatable. My Kai will have many powers, abilities, and skills, and will be very powerful, but he won't be totally unbeatable - just very hard to beat.

In my version of this fic, Kai will not be paired with anyone. All of Kai's relationships in this fic will be platonic - he will not be in any romantic or sexual relationships.

Response to one thing commented on in some updated chapters.

I got comments about me repeating things in multiple chapters, some things multiple times; I do this to:

1) Show the knowledge, view, and, or, intelligence, of one, or more, of the characters.

After all, the characters do not know everything the readers know; they have to be told by another character, or they have to find out some other way. I might have characters figure things out to show that Kai is not the only smart person in this fic.

2) To remind myself and others about things, or how certain things work - without needing to go back to a previous chapter to read about it.

This I do because sometimes I'll be reading a newly posted chapter of a fic, and it may mention something written in a earlier chapter I may have forgotten about, and it annoys me when I have to go back and search for what it is talking about, just so I understand what the new chapter may possibly be referring to.

3) To explain how a characters knows something in one scene they didn't know before. I usually explain by saying how they know, or by having a character, or characters, use their own intelligence to figure it out.

I don't like when I read or watch something and a character knows about something without explanation; in one scene someone may know about something they knew nothing about in a previous scene, but it is not always explained how they found out about it - sometimes there isn't even a passing comment. It feels too random to me without any mention of how they know. It always makes me wonder how they found out.

These are the reasons I sometimes repeat things multiple times. I don't just repeat things for no reason. So people know, I will add this add to the A/N at the start of each chapter.

Wording details.

If you see the word hybrid written as 'Hybrid' in the middle of a sentence; then I mean werewolf-vampire hybrid. So don't be surprised or confused when I switch between them, or when I use them both. Sometimes I will use 'werewolf-vampire hybrid' and sometimes I will use 'Hybrid'.

I know that Heretics are the ones who were put in the 1903 Prison World, but since hybrid can refer to any kind of hybrid; I will be using the terms Heretic and vampire-witch interchangeably.

Sometimes I'll use vampire-witch hybrid, sometimes I'll use Heretic. So don't be surprised or confused when I switch between them, or when I use them both.

Chapter 2

A week has passed since the Christmas party, and Kai had decided it was time for him to leave. He had learned a lot from Damon and Stefan, but now Kai wanted to venture out on his own, and put what he's learnt to use.

After saying farewell to his friends, Bonnie, Caroline, and Jo had asked him to email them every once in a while, to keep them updated on what he's doing; they had also asked him to visit from time to time. Kai had assured them that he will visit, Mystic Falls had become like a home to him, and a lot of people he cares about live in Mystic Falls; he isn't going to just leave and never see them again.

Before Kai left, he'd asked Bonnie to show him how to make a Daylight ring, just in case something happened to his; while his resistance stops sunlight from hurting him, Kai didn't like how sunlight made his skin feel irritated.

While Damon and Stefan were excellent teachers, they weren't able to help him fully utilise his vampire abilities. Nevertheless, he was truly grateful for their tutelage.

Kai believed the next step in his training is to learn from someone similar to him, an Original vampire, which meant - the Mikaelson family. He had learned from Tyler that they're currently residing in the city of New Orleans.

The ex-Hybrid had told Kai New Orleans is like a haven to witches, werewolves, and vampires; each species have their own slice of the city that they call theirs. Tyler had told him that there's an understanding between the human Faction and the supernatural Factions in New Orleans.

He was also told the supernatural species within the city are constantly hostile towards one another. Even during brief periods of peace, there's animosity and friction between the supernatural species. Vampires in particular are antagonised by the other two supernatural species. But even with the constant pressure of supernatural problems, conflicts and wars, New Orleans is still the beautiful pearl of Louisiana.

The supernatural multiculturalism of the city made it an extremely appealing place to Kai. Kai had visited it while in the prison world, but it would be different with the people there, rather than just another city that's void of life. Though he had found a lot of magical things for him to add to his collection.

Kai's objective was to seek out the Mikaelson family and convince them to teach him. In return, Kai would offer his help against their enemies. His friends had told Kai that the Mikaelsons had made a lot of enemies in their long lives.

He hoped to test himself against the very best; he wanted to test his fighting skills against other vampires, and his magic against the best witches New Orleans has to offer, and so he can test his magical skills against theirs. And so, Kai took a 4-hour flight from Mystic Falls to New Orleans.

Kai found New Orleans to be a very beautiful city; even more beautiful now than it was when he had visited it in the 1994 Prison World. Kai could already sense magic coming from all over the city.

Kai had taken a taxi to the French Quarter, trying to take in as much detail as possible: the music, the people, and the magic. It was incredibly invigorating. Kai really liked it. His time trapped inside the prison world had given Kai a great appreciation for festivities.

Whenever he came upon a new city in the prison world, Kai would immediately sense for magical areas and spots in it. But the French Quarter in the real world was a bit different; it was hard for Kai to pick a place to begin his search, since magical signals were coming from every direction in the French Quarter.

Kai reconsidered his options. 'The best way for me to find out anything is probably to compel the information from somebody.'

Seeing everyone else having fun, he decided to join in on the festivities. Apparently, the French Quarter has a different reason to throw a parade every other day. Kai can just continue his search later; unless he hears anything that pertains to his search while having fun.

After a while of fun, Kai decided to get back to business.

He thought that it would be best to find a vampire, as a vampire should be able to give Kai a rundown of what is happening in the city.

He walked into a nearby bar. According to Damon and Stefan, vampires tend to frequent bars in search of drunk humans to feed from.

He scanned the bar. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, but then that's normally how it would seem.

Kai ordered a glass of bourbon. The bartender attending him was a blonde women. She has a kind and gentle atmosphere about her, but at the same time, it felt like there was a more fierce side hiding below the surface. She reminded him of one of the friends that he had made while in Mystic Falls, Matt Donovan. Like her, Matt is a blonde human with a friendly air about him, but there's a more fierce side hiding below the surface and, like her, Matt is also a bartender.

"Camille." Kai called out to her after receiving his drink.

She tilted her head slightly, her brows furrowed in confusion. "Sorry, do we know each other?"

"No, I was just reading your name tag. That's quite a unique name you have there." Kai saw her sigh good-naturedly.

"Most people just shorten it to Cami."

"You don't like your name?" Kai asked, he could understand that. Twins in his family tend to have rather old names as well: Malachai, Josette, Lucas, Olivia. It is why they usually prefer to go by shortened versions of their names. Sometimes they will alter them as well; the last part of his first name sounds like Kai, so that is what he calls himself, like how Lucas' name sounding like Luke so he goes by that, even though neither of their first names have a 'k' in them.

"You could say that." She replied, offering a friendly smile. Although she doesn't like her given name, she kind of likes it when Klaus uses it.

"I get that." He chuckled. "You are preaching to the choir there, my family is all about giving their kids old names. I'm Kai, short for Malachai." He winked. "See? You aren't the only one with an old first name." Kai beamed, offering her a handshake.

"Nice to know there are others who share my curse." She laughed, shaking his hand. "I haven't seen you in here before. I do not think I have anyway. I am normally very good at remembering the faces of people that I've seen in here before."

"Yeah, I'm from out of town." Kai replied, before quickly drinking his glass of bourbon.

"So what brings you to the French Quarter? It can't be just the bourbon, can it?" Cami asked, then refilled his glass when he held it towards her to indicate he wanted another glass.

"Thanks, and don't mock the bourbon, I know some people who'd kill for a glass of good bourbon." Kai replied jokingly, although he was thinking of Damon and Alaric when he said that.

Camille gave a small laugh at his reply.

"My reason for coming here is more or less to have a good time." Kai said smilingly. He wasn't lying. As dangerous as the city might be, he knows he'll have some fun, he already had some fun when he'd joined in with the festivities.

"Then you are in the right place, New Orleans has a rich history. It's quite magical." Cami said, as she gave him another shot of bourbon. "On the house." She winked.

Kai narrowed his eyes for a second, before his usual grin was back.

'Interesting.' He thought.

He suspected that her words had some sort of double meaning to them, especially when she said magical. 'Does she know about the supernatural?'

Kai knew Camille was human. He could distinguish if someone is supernatural or not by sensing whether they have magic or not, but also by their signatures. He had gotten a lot of practise at sensing signatures since there are so many people around. And Camille is totally human.

Kai imagined Cami might be even more like Matt Donovan than he'd thought.

For a moment, Kai considered if he should compel Camille, but decided not to; he'll probably get more information from someone who's part of a supernatural faction than he would get from a human who is involved with the supernatural.

After quickly drinking his glass of bourbon, Kai decided it was time to leave. "I'll see you around, Cami."

As Kai made his way out, he left her a $100 tip. Kai had liquidated a tiny fraction of his gold. In return, Kai now has a small fortune.

Cami was pensive for a moment as she found his action familiar. The last person to give her such a large tip was Klaus, and her whole life hadn't been the same since.

"Well, I'll be here on most days." She called out to him, not sure if he heard her. Kai, of course, had heard her, thanks to his vampire hearing.

Kai had lingered around Bourbon Street for hours; looking for someone he could compel information from. He had seen a few witches here and there, and a couple of werewolves, but he knows witches are immune to vampire compulsion, including the compulsion of Original vampires, the same is also true for werewolves who have triggered their werewolf curse.

Kai had sensed the magic of his friend Tyler Lockwood, an untriggered werewolf, and the werewolves that Kai had seen around Bourbon street had more active magic; so Kai knew they had activated their werewolf curse, and therefore were immune to vampire compulsion - so he didn't try to compel the werewolves he'd seen. What Kai needed is a vampire, as regular vampires can be compelled by Originals; but quite oddly, there were no vampires in sight. Kai decided to try a locator spell.

After purchasing the ingredients he needed for the spell, Kai checked himself into his hotel suite.

He placed a map of New Orleans on a table, and set one candle at each of the four corners of the map. Kai then sliced his hand with a knife, his blood spilled onto the map. As Kai is a vampire, his blood would act as a blueprint; so the locator spell could find other vampires.

"Ole Heldhat Eina Odvozniti." He chanted multiple times. The spell would seek out and show Kai the area with the highest concentration of vampires within the places on the map. Kai could also use this spell to help him find witches, but Kai wants to finds vampires - so that is what the spell will find.

The fire from the candles ignited onto the map without burning it. His blood spelled into the flames. The flames turned bright blue before vanishing. The map was left almost unburnt - except for one spot on the map that was blackened from the magical flames.

Kai quickly memorised the location, before storing away the candles and the map; not wanting to give the cleaning lady a fright.

When Kai arrived at the area on the map, he found himself at a convenience store. "Why are vampires hanging around in a dingy old store?" Kai wondered aloud.

Feeling that something was wrong, Kai kept his guard up as he entered from the back entrance. The sight that greeted him was not what he had expected to see.

Dozens of vampire bodies littered the floor, spanning the entire backroom. He kneeled down beside one of the vampires. He could sense their vampire magic still pulsating under their skin.

'They are still alive.' He thought. 'They are all sedated though, probably with magic; whoever is doing this must have a lot of magic to keep them all unconscious.'

Activating his vampire hearing, he heard people talking at the front of the store. With a thought, Kai turned himself invisible; thanks to a Gemini cloaking spell he had mastered so completely that he can use it with only a thought.

Kai made his way to the front of the store, unnoticed. He found two men having a chat, and by 'chat' Kai means interrogation. Both men were of African descent. One man was tied to a chair with ropes; he looked to be in his mid 20s, with a shaved head.

The other man looked to be around the same age as his captive. He had short dark hair and was dressed much more formally, he was also holding a small blade.

Kai sensed that the man tied to the chair is a vampire. He guessed that the ropes were soaked in vervain. As for the other man, he seemed to be a witch, and quite a powerful one; Kai could sense this is the witch that is keeping all the vampires in the other room unconscious.

The other man is not quite who he appears to be though. Kai could sense the interrogator is actually possessing someone else's body.

The signature of a person's body is different to the signature of their soul, though not a lot different, and Kai can sense that the signature controlling the body is very different to the body's own signature. So, it can't be the person's own body, or even a relative's body; just like genetics, though every signature is different from one person to another, the signatures of people who are related share similarities. The soul of the body's rightful possessor is still inside their body, but it's suppressed by magic, and by the person that has invaded his body.

"You are Klaus' ally, and I think you know something." The interrogator told his captive.

'Interesting.' Kai thought. He had intended to snatch a vampire to compel for information. 'It seems that I will not have to get information from a vampire, this man is doing it for me. I wish that I had brought some popcorn with me.'

"You can think whatever you want, as long as you don't mind knowing you're a chump." The man tied to chair said defiantly.

Kai smirked in amusement. 'The man tied to the chair has guts.' He thought.

The interrogator, however, was not amused. He softly blew a breath of magic onto his index finger and thumb. Then rubbed them together; the captive vampire seized and thrashed about violently, screaming in agony. The screams died out shortly after the witch stopped the spell.

"Tell. Me. What. You. Know." The interrogator demanded, enunciating every word.

The captive vampire, clearly out of breath from all the screaming, whispered quietly, "I'll tell you what I remember."

The interrogator leaned towards the prisoner expectantly.

"Two centuries back, I was just a kid looking through the compound. I found a coffin." The captor frowned.

"Klaus caught me, and he told me, 'That's my brother Finn. We keep him like that because he is such a bore.'" The tied up vampire continued.

Finn, the witch and interrogator seethed at the tied up vampire. He once again breathed magic onto his index finger and thumb, before rubbing them together; the vampire once more writhed in pain as his muscle constricted.

Kai knew that this was going to be a long night for the captured vampire.

Hours passed by, as Kai watched Finn continue to torture information out of the vampire. From what has been said, Kai had managed to deduce a number of things.

Firstly, the interrogator was actually Finn, the older brother of the Originals. He had briefly heard about him; when Stefan gave him a brief rundown on the Original family. Stefan told him that Finn had been an Original, but he had been staked with a white oak stake by Matt Donovan; killing him and his sireline. Which was how they'd found out that when an Original vampire dies, so does their sireline.

It seemed someone had brought him back, and he is possessing a witch.

Secondly, the vampire being interrogated, is Marcel, the former 'King' of the French Quarter. Kai made a note to ensure Marcel would survive; Marcel may be useful for Kai to have as an ally - as Marcel used to be in charge, he will likely have access to information and resurces that may be useful to Kai.

Marcel once again drifted back into consciousness.

"I'm convinced. You know nothing." Finn told Marcel. "Whatever Klaus is keeping a secret, is so secret that he won't even share it with you. Perhaps there are other ways you can be of use to me."

The front door to the store suddenly opened. Finn was visibly surprised to see the young man that entered.

Obviously, Kai had no clue who the man that just entered was, but he could sense this man is a witch, who is also being possessed by someone else; someone who, based on the similarities their signatures share, is related to Finn.

"Brother." The newcomer greeted the witch that is holding Marcel captive.

Kai was happy that something new was occurring. Even though it was useful for getting information, Kai was getting rather bored of the monotonous torturing.

"Kol, what are you doing here?" Finn asked his brother, sounding annoyed.

"I heard a rumour that you took Marcel prisoner." Kol told his oldest brother as he picked up a knife. "And it just so happens that he belongs to me."

Kol then stabbed the knife into Marcel's hand, causing Marcel to moan in pain and glare angrily at the younger Mikaelson.

Marcel threatened to kill them both, but Finn wasn't in the mood for threats. With a flick of his wrist, Finn magically snapped Marcel's neck. He then turned his attention toward his brother.

"You have some nerve coming here. Your good grace with me was lost the moment that you sided with our wretched siblings." Finn warned his brother.

Kol looked slightly worried, but put on a smile.

"You know me, Finn. I side with whoever I think is going to win. And you and Mum were acting a bit daft, weren't you? But I heard about how you turned Dad into your own personal magical battery pack; which is a little cold, but also smart."

After hearing that new piece of information, Kai focused his senses a little more, so he could feel magic, and he could feel an external source of magic empowering Finn. Kai realised Kol was correct, Finn was indeed channeling someone.

"And now, I can see which way the wind is blowing, and with the way they treat us, I'll be happy to see the lot of them get what is coming to them." Kol continued.

Kai smirked, Kol had quite the silver tongue on him. Finn, however, wasn't amused. Kai sensed various degrees of malice coming from the older Mikaelson.

Finn brought his hand and clenched to make a fist, activating a pain infliction spell. Kol fell to his knees and screeched in pain.

"What the hell was that for?" Kol yelled, after he had stopped the spell.

"For being a duplicitous weasel." Finn said, sneering.

"I have proved myself, Finn. More than you have!" Kol staggered to his feet. "It was me who put Rebekah in another body, and while Klaus is out there looking for her, I was creating a dagger that could put him to sleep for centuries!"

'The plot thickens.' Kai thought. He wondered if this special dagger would work on him. He made a mental note to inspect it at a later point. If it's just another kind of white oak ash dagger, then Kai knows it won't be able to affect him.

"I don't want to put Klaus to sleep! I want him dead." Finn retorted angrily.

"Yes, but you'll need allies. Which I have. Davina Claire, she is a Harvest girl and I have her wrapped around my finger. With her on our side, there isn't anything that can stand in our way." Kol said, trying to buy time so he could escape his brother.

"Klaus knows you trapped Rebekah? Then why hasn't he tracked you down to torture her location out of you?" Finn questioned.

"Klaus cannot torture her location out of me, if he can't find me." Kol answered.

Finn laughed and processed the new information Kol had given him.

"Elijah also knows Rebekah is missing." Kol said. "Where is our noble brother anyway? I know Klaus has been trying to find me, but Elijah hasn't." He then asked.

"Despite my power, I've been unable to locate him, which means he has gone to great lengths to hide himself. And Elijah hides from no one. Unless, he's keeping something hidden." Finn explained. If what Kol said is true, it only reinforces this thought; if one of his siblings went missing, Elijah would do everything he could think of to find them, he would not just disappear - unless there was a very good reason. If they needed to hide something, and it was important enough, then it would make sense for Elijah to disappear until after he has hidden whatever it was he was hiding. Finn can't think of anything else that would cause Elijah to hide while one of his siblings is missing.

Hearing that, Kai almost snorted in laughter. Contrary to what was just said, Kai had heard the Original vampire siblings had spent a thousand years running from their father, Mikael, including Elijah.

"Wow, Finn, you sound like Sherlock Holmes after one too many tequilas." Kol said.

"And you're a fool for thinking I wouldn't know about your little friends in the back."

Kai wasn't surprised by this; he had heard the two people as soon as they entered, though he had been more interested in what was going on in here. He decided to stretch his magical senses a little, curious about Kol's companions; one of the signatures Kai sensed belongs to a werewolf, the other one belongs to a witch.

As Kai refocused his attention on Kol and Finn, he could sense fear coming from the younger Mikaelson.

Finn stepped towards Kol, causing the latter to retreat into the back room.

When he followed them, Kai saw that there were dozens of vampires standing up. However, Finn just spelled them back to sleep.

Finn then berated his brother for siding with his enemies and for failing at the task that their mother had given them.

Finn grabbed his brother, then placed his hand onto Kol's chest. "You're now bound to this body, unable to jump to another. Over the next few days, this body will die, and I want you to contemplate what is to come for you; a pointless, lonely death, and the darkness that follows."

This meant nothing to Kai. Though he did commend Kol for trying to help out his friends by playing the decoy. Kai knows if he'd been in Kol's place, he would've been willing to do the same thing for the people that he cares about.

"The clock starts now. Be sure to say your goodbyes. Go, brother. I won't miss you." Finn said to the brother he had just sentenced to death.

Kol looked at his Finn with pain and betrayal one last time before exiting the shop from the back. Kai felt a multitude of negative emotions coming from Kol. Once Kol was gone, Kai turned his attention back towards Finn.

After another tedious hour of torture, Finn finally came to the conclusion Marcel didn't have any information he could use against his siblings. By then, Kai felt he had caught up on basically everything that was happening in New Orleans; well, at least in regards to the Mikaelsons.

"Good. You're awake. Now, just one more question."

"Okay. Let my guys go free, and I'll tell you whatever you want to know."

"How selfless! But we've already established that you do not know anything useful to me. Most of the werewolves believe you were the last person to see Klaus' child alive. You were in possession of the baby's body."

Marcel glared at Finn.

"So, tell me. How exactly did the baby die?" Finn questioned.

Marcel thought about it, but he genuinely didn't know, his mind was blank.

"Yeah, you don't remember do you? You don't remember because you were compelled to forget. Why would Klaus compel that away from the vampire he thinks of as his son? Unless…he did it to protect his daughter?" Finn spoke in realisation. This also explains why Elijah isn't searching for Rebekah and is in hiding, the reason that Elijah has gone into hiding and is not looking for his sister is because he is protecting his niece.

All three of them came to the same conclusion. The baby is not actually dead. Marcel instantly felt guilty about helping Finn realise this, even unintentionally.

"Hope Mikaelson is still alive, and you and your vampires are going to help me find her."

Shortly afterwards, Finn left in order to acquire ingredients that would enable him to find the baby, his niece - Hope Mikaelson.

He left Marcel and the other vampires at the store, they were in no state to move. Kai took this opportunity to make his move.

Kai released his cloaking spell, and went to Marcel - who was unconscious after his neck was magically snapped by Finn.

Kai bit into his own wrist and fed Marcel his blood. Within moments, Marcel regained consciousness.

Marcel was disoriented for a few moments after regaining consciousness. He was also surprised to see a young man in front of him, someone he doesn't recognise. He had expected to see Finn again.

"Who are you?" Marcel asked.

"I'm here to help, I'm a vampire visiting this city." Kai said. "I just happened to come across a group of vampires who had been kidnapped by a single witch. I have to say, it was quite an interesting sight."

Marcel sneered at Kai.

"Oh grouchy, but I mean no harm." Kai continued. "I'm here to free you."

"How do I know I can trust you?" Marcel asked sceptically.

"You don't." Kai replied nonchalantly. "But it doesn't seem like you've got any choice in that matter." He said, motioning to the chair Marcel is tied to, and the situation that Marcel is currently in.

Kai ripped the ropes off Marcel. Due to his resistance to it, the vervain on the rope barely stung his hand. He and Marcel then began moving the unconscious vampires into a truck Marcel had called for them. Not long after, Kai and Marcel brought everyone back to Marcel's loft.

When they arrived, they laid them all on the ground. They were still under Finn's spell. Marcel wanted to get Davina to check on them first before waking them up.

Marcel passed Kai a glass of bourbon. "Now tell, who are you? And why did you decided to save me and my guys?"

Kai took a sip of the bourbon, before introducing himself. "My name is Kai Parker. I became a vampire quite recently, and I am in this city looking for someone."

Kai took another sip of the bourbon before continuing. "As for why I saved you, well, let us just say it was on a whim." Kai told Marcel, smiling as he offered to shake hands with the much older vampire.

Marcel has lived for a long time. Of course, compared to the Originals, he is young. But having lived as long as he has, especially in the Crescent city of Louisiana, he has a warrior's instincts. Marcel has always been proud of his instincts; and though they told him he should be careful around Kai, they also told him he can trust the young vampire in front of him.

Marcel ultimately cracked a friendly smile and returned the handshake. "You saved me and my guys, so you're alright in my books. You're welcome in our community, and if you want a tour of the city, I am happy to give you one."

"I might decide to take you up on that offer Marcel."

Kai left Marcel and his still unconscious vampires. He had told the older vampire that he'd come back later. Marcel had left to find Klaus and Davina.

Kai's next agenda was the Mikaelson baby. He wanted to make sure that Finn doesn't kill her. Kai had not tried to snap Finn's neck when he had the chance because Finn was possessing a powerful witch, was channeling an Original, and had also been in control of a legion of vampires as well. If he'd tried to snap Finn's neck, and Finn had some kind of way to prevent that from happening, Kai wasn't sure if he could have defeated a powerful witch, who is also channeling an Original vampire's magic, and a large group of vampires, at the same time.

Kai initially hoped that Finn would not hurt his own niece, but, after seeing him curse his own brother, maybe hoping Finn wouldn't hurt his niece is not that realistic.

Kai doesn't consider himself a good person, but all the time he'd spent with his friends in Mystic Falls, however short that time was, made Kai a kinder person. Kai's time in the prison world showed him to appreciate the more important things in life, like friends and family. He's very protective of his new family. During Kai's time inside the 1994 Prison World, he also gained an appreciation and interest in the more unique things in the world; especially if it's magical in any way.

Kai was born a siphoner-witch, and now he's a hybrid of a siphoner-witch and an Original vampire, and as such, Kai considers himself one of the many unique magical creations on Earth. The tribrid baby is another unique creation, someone born with the combined blood of three supernatural species. She has the potential to become someone truly incredible, and he's keen to see that potential develop. The tribrid baby is on the list of supernatural creations Kai thinks should be protected; no one is going to harm Hope Mikaelson as long as he is around.

But in order to protect Hope Mikaelson, he'll have to find her first. The problem was that Finn had a few hours head start in his search for the tribrid baby. He doubted Hope's parents would have hidden her without taking precautions to stop her from being found, and protections in case she was found. He hoped they were enough to stall Finn long enough for Kai to get there; either to help the person taking care of the baby take down Finn, or to take Finn down by himself, or at least stall Finn long enough that the baby could be moved to a safer location.

Kai's basic locator spells weren't enough to find the baby. He could perform stronger locator spells, but all the stronger ones would destroy any spells that are cloaking the baby. Kai knew she wouldn't be in New Orleans, as the people believe she is dead. While Kai doubts Klaus would send his baby very far, it would still be far enough that Kai wouldn't be able to sense the baby's signature.

In order to locate Hope, Kai needed a conduit of some sort to establish a connection; something to link the spell to her, preferably her parent's blood. As her parents, their connection to her is stronger than almost anything. By casting locator spells using the blood of one of the baby's parents, Kai's stronger locator spells would be able to locate Hope without destroying any of the spells keeping her hidden, and safe.

Kai imagined that Klaus wouldn't trust anybody with his blood, let alone a stranger. And Kai had no intention of fighting Klaus, he imagines that could be bad for him; since he's a newbie vampire, and has far less experience fighting vampires than Klaus does.

So, Kai opted to find Hayley Marshall; Hope Mikaelson's Hybrid mother. He'd try to convince her of the danger her baby is in, and get Hope's location from her instead of using locator spells; since she is likely receiving updates about where her baby is, or, on the off chance she doesn't get updates, he could still use Hayley's blood to cast a spell to find Hope.

Kai made his way towards the Bayou. Tyler had told him it is where the werewolves were currently living. And from the interrogation, he learnt Hayley is basically the Queen of the Crescent wolf pack.

Marcel had warned Kai not to take a stroll into the Bayou, as it may not be good for his health. Kai wasn't concerned though; he had nothing to fear from werewolves, Kai is an Original vampire - so their venom can't kill him, plus, being the Enhanced Original vampire, means he's highly resistant to the affects of werewolf venom.

While training with Damon and Stefan, they had explained that vampires could be killed by werewolf venom, though Original vampires were only weakened by it until it is no longer in their system. According to Alaric, the person who was first turned into the Enhanced Original, Kai is highly resistant to sunlight, werewolf venom and vervain; he also has a slight resistance to magic.

These weaknesses exist because Nature had turned everything used in the spell that turned them into Original vampires against them, along with the reason that the spell was cast in the first place.

The reason vampires are weak to vervain is because it had grown at the bottom of the white oak tree that Esther had used in the spell she'd used to turn her children and husband into vampires. The Enhanced Original spell didn't use any white oak though, so the Enhanced Original vampire shouldn't be affected by vervain.

One night, Henrik Mikaelson, Esther and Mikael's youngest child, was killed by a werewolf; so to protect their remaining family, Esther had cast the spell to turn them into vampires, to make her children and husband more powerful than werewolves. This is why Nature had made it so that the venom of werewolves weakens Original vampires, and kills non-Original vampires; though werewolf venom Hybrids, due to them being part-werewolf.

When Esther turned Alaric into the Enhanced Original vampire, it was to end the vampire race; werewolves had nothing to do with why this version of the spell was created. So, the Enhanced Original shouldn't be affected by werewolf venom.

However, because it was a modified version of the spell which first created vampires, Nature had made it so the Enhanced Original could be weakened by the same things as the other Originals. This is why the Enhanced Original vampire could be affected by vervain and werewolf venom; despite the fact it should be completely unaffected by vervain and werewolf venom. Though Esther had made the Enhanced Original vampire highly resistant to werewolf venom, vervain and sunlight, and slightly resistant to magic, the Enhanced Original vampire is not immune to them; so they still count as weaknesses, no matter how resistant it is to them.

All of Esther's changes and additions to the Enhanced Original spell made it far more powerful, and far greater, than the first Original vampire spell Esther had cast.

Despite this, Nature hadn't given the Enhanced Original vampire any more weaknesses - for three reasons.

The first reason being it was the same spell that turned her children and husband. Yes she'd made changes and additions but, otherwise, the spell she cast was the same spell Esther used to turn her family into vampires. So, Nature had just given the Enhanced Original the same weaknesses the other Originals possess, except their weakness to white oak - this weakness replaced by the link to the human life of Elena Gilbert, a dopplegänger; normal Original vampires could be killed using white oak, but Esther's Enhanced Original vampire spell meant Alaric, who was the one that she turned into the Enhanced Original vampire, only died when Elena's human life ended.

This is the reason Nature hadn't given the Enhanced Original more weaknesses to balance it; Nature had already given weaknesses to Original vampires to balance the Original vampire spell, so, because they're technically the same spell, Nature hadn't balanced the Enhanced Original spell. This is also the reason the Enhanced Original can be affected by werewolf venom and vervain - depite how the origins of these weaknesses do not apply to the Enhanced Original spell.

The second reason Nature hadn't given the Enhanced Original any more weaknesses is because Enhanced Original vampire spell was made to create a being to end the vampire race. Since they are undead, immortal, beings, ending the vampire race would end undo the violation of Nature's rules Esther had commited when she had turned her family into vampires. Ending the vampire race would fix this violation.

Why would Nature add any extra weaknesses to a being whose sole purpose was to destroy something that violated one of Nature's rules?

The third reason is that Esther had linked the Enhanced Original vampire's immortality to Elena's human life - the life of a mortal human.

Why would Nature add any extra weaknesses to the Enhanced Original when they'd only live and be immortal as long as the mortal they were linked to was alive?

By tying the Enhanced Original's immortality to the life force of a mortal, Esther had made it so it didn't matter how powerful the Enhanced Original vampire was, or how powerful they became, they would still die when the mortal that they were linked to died. It also meant that the Enhanced Original was, technically, mortal - as they would die when the mortal they were linked to died.

This meant not only had Nature not added any additional weaknesses to the Enhanced Original spell, but that Esther had been able to make as many improvements, changes, and additions to the spell as she wanted to make, and she could add as much power as she had wanted to add to the spell as well; without Nature making the Enhanced Original vampire weak to any other things.

As she had tied the Enhanced Original spell's immortality to a mortal, Esther hadn't cared how powerful she made the Enhanced Original, or how powerful the person she turned into the Enhanced Original vampire would become; Esther had decided that since she was going to bind the spell to a mortal, it did not matter.

All this means, with the exception of white oak, Kai only has the same weaknesses as the other Originals; except he's resistant to them. So, like sunlight and vervain, he's also highly resistant to werewolf venom. This is why Kai isn't worried about werewolves; Kai is faster and stronger than them, he's resistant to their venom - the only advantage they have, and, even if he wasn't resistant to their venom, it can't kill him because he is an Original. Plus, he can also use magic.

Even though he was turned by a mutated and empowered version of the Enhanced Original vampire spell, Kai did not gain any extra weaknesses due to him being a siphoner. Despite Nature itself creating them, siphoners are the one kind of being Nature itself considers completely unnatural; because Nature considers them to be completely unnatural, Nature ignores siphoners - this is why Nature hadn't reacted until Kai had completed his transition and became a truly immortal being. Even if Nature had reacted when the spell became bonded to Kai's soul, it would have still been too late to give Kai any extra weaknesses, or to prevent him from becoming truly immortal; transition only stabilises a vampire's vampirism, and thus their strengths and weaknesses, only Kai not completing the transition could have stopped Kai becoming truly immortal. Which was why after Kai completed his transition, Nature had only been able to make sure there would never be another being like Kai, and to try to balance what he had become; perhaps through creating dopplegängers, perhaps through creating new universes with versions of Kai who can die.

Kai continued towards a settlement of trailers inhabited by werewolves; he had used his sensing abilities to pinpoint the area in the Bayou with the most inhabitants.

The inhabitants stiffened when they noticed his arrival, no doubt already sniffing him out as a vampire. Everyone ceased what they were doing, watching Kai wearily.

"Hi." Kai spoke to the masses, nodding his head to try and show respect; after all, he didn't come here for a fight. "I am looking for Hayley Marshall. I believe she is engaged to your Alpha. There's some important, but sensitive, information that I need to tell her."

Everyone remain still and silent. He could see and hear mothers holding their children protectively. Kai rolled his eyes at their actions - it was unnecessary.

While Kai had once murdered his own siblings, who had been children, he hadn't wanted to hurt them, let alone to kill them - he'd just been desperate. He brought them back, but Kai still felt guilty for killing them in the first place. Since then, Kai had made a silent vow to avoid hurting children.

After a few moments of them silently glaring at him, Kai sighed, realising that the werewolves wouldn't cooperate with him because he's a vampire. Evidently, their animosity of the vampire species runs deep.

'I know vampires and werewolves don't get along, but they can really hold a grudge.' He thought silently. His search was going to be more difficult than he'd thought.

After a few more seconds of the werewolves glaring at him, a rather bulky man stepped forward from the crowd. "You best be on your way vampire." He said. "We're not afraid of your kind."

"Is that so?" Kai replied amusingly. He had been feeling a bit restless for a while, maybe a good warm up could get his blood running. He hadn't come for a fight, but if they want a fight, then Kai wasn't going to turn them down.

"If you won't let me talk to Hayley Marshall, then I'll talk to your Alpha. Bring out the top dog."

A few of the werewolves sneered at him.

"You vampires think you can just do whatever you want, but your time is over. I am going to show you why it's a fatal mistake to underestimate us." The bulky werewolf began summoning his werewolf nature. His eyes became bright yellow, before running towards Kai with his werewolf speed.

Kai had never fought werewolves before. In fact, this was the first time he's even seen a werewolf with an active werewolf curse. Tyler Lockwood isn't a Hybrid anymore, he's now an untriggered werewolf - which, unless he triggers his werewolf curse again, basically means he is human.

Kai easily sidestepped the werewolf. "Shall we dance?" He asked mockingly.

This made the werewolf even angrier, which he sensed increased the werewolf's power. Marcel had told him about the recently created moonlight rings; rings which give werewolves the ability to channel their werewolf nature at will - allowing them to, without a full moon, access their bite and their full werewolf strength, at will.

According to Marcel, these rings have created a shift in power between the factions, as vampires are now at a power disadvantage.

Kai continued to evade the enraged lycan by making circular motions. These circular motions were adapted from Bagua, a Chinese martial art he had learned. Kai's skills with Tai chi, Wing Chun, and Bagua, gave him a great foundation for evading and parrying his opponents attacks.

Eventually he got annoyed and started to go on the offensive. Kai is the Enhanced Original; his speed and strength are far greater than a werewolf's, even during a full moon, when werewolves are at the height of their power. Thanks to all of the magic that he had added to the spell before it turned him, even a small fraction of Kai's speed and strength is enough to easily overpower and overspeed any werewolf, even during a full moon.

Kai easily dodged and blocked a few more of his opponent's attacks, then caught his wrist and gave it a hard twist, making the werewolf howl in pain. Using his other hand, Kai swiftly punched the werewolf in the shoulder. A loud crack echoed as he dislocated the other man's shoulder. The man screamed in pain as Kai released the werewolf and his temporarily useless arm.

The man attempted to backhand Kai with his other arm, but Kai avoided the attack and appeared behind him. A swift punch to the man's other shoulder had that one dislocated as well, preventing the werewolf from attempting any more strikes. He then kicked the back of the werewolf's leg, forcing him down to his knees.

The other werewolves moved to aid their defeated comrade. Kai saw this and swiftly grabbed the downed werewolf in a sleeper hold, the man was kneeling with both of his shoulders dislocated, defenseless. Kai applied enough force to the sleeper hold to cause the man to quickly pass out, but not enough to kill him.

"Stop right there, or I'll be forced to snap his neck." Kai said, though he was bluffing.

He isn't going to kill any of the people here; doing that would make Kai an enemy to Hayley, and then she wouldn't listen to him, or let him help protect her daughter, Hope, from Finn.

All the other werewolves momentarily paused in their movements. While they did hesitate to attack, werewolves are a predatory species; especially when it comes to vampires. Even with someone threatening the life of one of their own, their hesitation would not last long. The children, and those unable to fight at full strength, the werewolves without Moonlight rings, had been safely hidden while Kai was fighting the now unconscious werewolf.

The remaining werewolves all carry Moonlight rings. Most of the Cresent wolf pack have relinquished their rings in favour of the marriage unification. There are half a dozen wolves that still used them though; for protection, until the wedding was underway.

The six Moonlight ring using werewolves signalled each other to attack.

Kai pushed his unconscious hostage onto the ground. Things were about to get messy, but he couldn't help but grin.

"So, who wants to dance?"

In a split second, the six Moonlight ring weilding werewolves descended on him.

Within a few minutes, seven Moonlight ring using werewolves were groaning in pain on the ground. Kai had defeated them all. He'd slipped through their formation, and agilely avoided all of their attacks, while breaking their joints to disable them. They're fast and strong, but they weren't that skilled; they'd mainly just charged and thrown attacks at him - it had been easy for him to defeat them.

"You are a stubborn lot." Kai said to his fallen foes. "Know that I could have killed you all had I wanted to."

All the defeated werewolves then fell unconscious, overwhelmed by their injuries.

"Now, where's the Alpha of this pack?" Kai wondered to himself.

Out of nowhere, a blur sped into the field and sent him flying backwards. Kai tilted his weight backwards while in mid-air, and landed on his feet. Kai noticed that it was a person that had sent him flying. A women with long brown hair, and the look of a predator.

She sneered at Kai as her fangs elongated. The vampire veins darkened into her sclera, emphasizing her Hybrid eyes.

'So, that is what a werewolf-vampire hybrid looks like.' Kai thought.

It was truly incredible to him. He made a mental note to try to learn more about werewolves, and about werewolf-vampire hybrids.

"You must be Hayley Marshall." Kai said. "That was a nice tackle, I give it a 9/10."

Hayley was not amused by his comment.

"You made a mistake attacking my people. I am going to kill you, then I'm going after the witch bastard who sent you." Hayley told him murderously.

'Witch bastard? Oh, she thinks I work for Finn.' Kai thought. 'This could not get any worse.'

Hayley lunged at him. 'And I jinxed it.'

Kai sidestepped her, even though she's using her Hybrid speed and strength, she isn't even close to his Enhanced Original speed. But he underestimated how fast she is; so Kai was not prepared when she turned faster than he'd expected and used her leg to sweep his legs from behind, causing him to fall onto his back.

She quickly jumped onto him, and viciously went in for a bite. Instinctively, Kai moved his arm to block, causing her to bite into Kai's wrist instead.

Kai then used his left hand to shove her off him.

While she was propelled back by his shove, she still managed to land on her feet; albeit in a feral crouch position.

Kai then quickly got back up.

Kai looked at his wrist, a large ugly bite mark now adorning the side of his right arm. The wound already started to heal, though not completely. The werewolf venom is now running its course; Kai is highly resistant to werewolf venom, but he is not immune to it - it has much less effect on Kai than it does on a normal Original, and the affects would not last as long for Kai as they would for a normal Original vampire, but werewolf venom does still affect him.

Hayley smirked at what she thought was her victory, she then used her sleeve to wipe the blood off the side of her mouth.

"Looks like you're a dead man, werewolf venom kills non-Original vampires." The only exception being werewolf-vampires hybrids, as their werewolf side makes it so that they're not affected by the venom. The only known cure is the blood of the Original vampire-werewolf hybrid, Klaus. Or the blood of Hope Mikaelson, Hayley and Klaus' daughter. Hayley knows he is not going to get either though; Klaus would not give his blood to a stranger unless it benefited him, and that is assuming Hayley does not tell Klaus about this attack, and if she does tell him, he'd kill the stranger when he asks for Klaus' blood, even if she doesn't tell him, he would likely kill this man simply for asking for his blood, and Hope, her and Klaus' daughter, is still hidden while everyone, apart from a very select few, believe Hope is dead. And all this is assuming this man makes it out of this encounter alive.

Kai knows, as an Original vampire, werewolf venom can't kill him. He could feel the venom weaken him though. However, his resistance means it barely weakens him.

Like sunlight, Kai's resistance to werewolf venom is incredibly high; so much so, that no matter how much enters his body or how potent it is, it wouldn't weaken him very much. And, unlike the other Original vampires, Kai wouldn't get weaker the longer the venom was in his system.

"You know, I normally like to get to know someone first before we get to the biting stage." He couldn't help but remark.

Kai then started laughing rather ironically.

Hayley was baffled by his reaction. "What is so funny?"

"Oh, nothing. It is just I've never even seen a triggered werewolf before today, and in one day I've not only seen a group of werewolves in action, but also a Hybrid."

"You picked a fight with the wrong wolves. The Crescent wolves are not to be trifled with." She said confidently; from their brief fight, it is clear he's fast and strong, but she believes that she's faster and stronger than him.

What she didn't know was that Kai had been holding back, he hadn't used anywhere near his full speed and strength.

He hadn't known how much faster or stronger a Hybrid is than a werewolf using a Moonlight ring; so Kai had only used a little more speed and strength than he had used against the non-Hybrids.

If he had used his full Enhanced Original vampire abilities, not only would Kai have easily outsped and overpowered her, she would not have even hit him; even with Kai underestimating her.

"Oh no, I completely agree. You wolves have earned my respect today." Kai said, as he lifted up his bitten arm. "And it's been an enlightening experience."

The child like smile never left Kai's face.

Hayley was a little unnerved. Her opponent was very unusual. He is a vampire who has been bitten by a werewolf, whose venom kills vampires, yet he is still smiling, like he knows something that she doesn't.

"I never expected a Hybrid to be so powerful, especially since you are only a new one." He said, before shrugging. "Then again, I'm new to this vampire thing myself."

That surprised Hayley. She'd thought the man was an old vampire. During their fight, it was clear his speed and strength far exceed those of new vampires, and he'd taken on seven Moonlight rings user and had easily won. Hayley wondered how he is so fast and strong if he has only recently become a vampire.

"The magic of those Moonlight rings must be quite intricate to allow your pack to channel and control their wolf forms so easily." He looked at her curiously. "But you do not even need one of those rings to transform. It is rather fascinating."

Hayley ignored his remarks. "Why did Finn sent you here?"

Kai ignored her question. He was already trying to analyse her werewolf nature.

"Werewolves' abilities are fueled by magic. The werewolf curse, while genetic, is still a curse. A very old curse, but it is still a curse. Which makes it magic." Kai's grin only widened at this realisation.

Hayley was annoyed that the vampire was ignoring her question. "What does that have to do with anything?"

Kai put his left palm over his wound.

What Kai did next caused Hayley's eyes to widen in shock. Kai's palm glowed red as he siphoned the magic of the werewolf venom, rendering it harmless. As soon as Kai was finished siphoning the magic from the werewolf venom, the wound instantly healed; Kai looked as if he had never even been bitten in the first place.

She took a step back in shock. This man had just healed himself from a werewolf bite, and probably the werewolf venom as well; since he had at no point shown any worry about being bitten and he didn't seem to be worried about what the werewolf venom could do to him. If he could cure himself of the effects of werewolf venom, it explained why he hadn't shown any concern about the werewolf venom.

'Was it magic?' Hayley thought. Thanks to her heightened sense of smell, she knew her opponent is definitely a vampire, yet he's using magic?

This went against everything that Hayley knows. In a world of Harvest girls and a tribrid baby, this was still by far one of the oddest things she has ever seen.

Kai flicked his right hand towards Hayley, telekinetically throwing her into a large tree.

She quickly got back up to retaliate.

Before she could do anything though, he held his hand up, palm facing her, and cast a spell. She instantly felt like her head was going to explode. Blood began flowing out of her eyes and nostrils. The Pain Infliction was like nothing she's ever felt before. After several moments, Hayley screamed and lost consciousness.

Hayley regained consciousness with a loud gasp of air. She looked around; she is laying on a couch, in what appears to be a hotel room.

"I see you're awake." Kai said, as he walked in from the other room.

"Where am I? Why have you taken me?" Her eyes glowed amber as her rage increased.

She sped towards Kai, intent on beating some answers out of him, but was knocked back towards the couch by a seemingly invisible wall.

Hayley finally noticed there was a circle of salt around her: a clear indication there must be a barrier trapping her.

"Don't bother, that barrier is bound to me." Kai told her. "I don't mean you any harm. I tried telling your guard dogs the same thing, they wouldn't listen, so like rabid mutts, they tried to attack me." She growled at Kai.

"Hey, if you hadn't noticed, I did not kill any of them, even though they attacked me first."

Hayley relaxed a little after hearing what he had just said. He was right, all her guys were down for the count, but otherwise, they were fine. She'd noticed they were alive when she'd listened to their heartbeats after sending this man through the air; to check they were still alive. It seems like he was telling the truth, he really had not been there to hurt her pack, so her pack probably had attacked the man first; if he had been there to cause harm to her pack, then he probably would have killed at least one person, yet he hadn't killed anyone.

"I'll release you from the boundary once I've said my piece."

Hayley nodded. Agreeing to hear what this stranger had to say, she doesn't have much choice anyway.

"My name is Kai, short for Malachai. And as you have seen, I am a Heretic: a vampire-witch hybrid." Kai introduced himself.

Hayley's eyes widened at Kai's confirmation. "That is impossible! You can't be both a witch and a vampire at the same time."

"There was once a time that everyone would have said the same thing about werewolf-vampire hybrids like you. Just like how you became a werewolf-vampire hybrid, there were also unusual circumstances that resulted in me becoming a vampire-witch hybrid."

Hayley knew she couldn't deny what Kai had just said. There was a time that everyone believed being a Hybrid was impossible; some people still think being a Hybrid is impossible, believing the stories of werewolves being turned into Hybrids were just that - stories. Yet, Hayley is a Hybrid, and she knows there were Hybrids before her. Plus, her daughter is a tribrid; a being that the entire world once believed could not exist.

"I was turned a few months ago. But I was not turned by vampire blood." Kai hinted.

He had decided to reveal the truth to her about what he is because he intends to protect her daughter, and he can't protect the baby properly if he has to hide his full powers and abilities; as Kai would have to limit himself to doing things average vampires can do, and would have to hide anything he can do because of him being an Original, and a Heretic. This was also why Kai revealed he's a Heretic. Kai imagined Hayley would not be interested in getting help from him if he was just an average vampire, due to her being a Hybrid and having other people she can contact for help, like her werewolf pack or, when she needed help from vampires, the Mikaelsons or Marcel, but Kai thinks Hayley would be okay with him helping if she knew how useful Kai could be in saving her baby from Finn.

After a few moments, Hayley's eyes widened. Vampires are usually turned when someone dies with vampire blood in their system.

The only ones who weren't, except for Hope, who was born part-vampire, are the Original vampires - who were turned into vampires by a spell.

'He's an Original vampire.' Hayley thought, further shocked by this revelation.

She wanted to deny it, but it did explain why he's so strong for someone only turned a few months ago.

She was shocked as this meant, due to his hybrid nature, Kai is an Original vampire who can use magic. And, honestly, the thought of someone liked that scared her.

Sensing this, Kai waited until he sensed that she managed to get over her shock and fear. When she did, Kai continued.

"I just recently came to New Orleans. It's a beautiful city I must say, so full of life and people. Great music. Great Bars."

She growled as he got side tracked. Even if he really is an Original, which part of her doubts, she's annoyed at Kai for not getting to his point.

"Oh, right, sorry, sometimes I get easily distracted." Kai apologised sheepishly.

"When I got here, I decided to find the vampire Faction within the city. When I tracked down Marcel. I found out that a witch had captured him and his vampires. The witch's name is Vincent, but he's possessed by someone the Original vampires know as Finn."

That had Hayley's attention. She had not known Marcel had been captured. She considered Marcel to be an ally and a friend.

"I rescued Marcel after the witch left, but by then Finn had already figured out that your daughter is still alive." Kai revealed.

A look of horror appeared on Hayley's face. If she'd been worried before, she was absolutely terrified at that moment. There was a madman going after her daughter!

"Release me! I need to get to her!"

"I would have told told you sooner, but your pack attacked me. You could use my help to save your daughter."

Hayley considered that for a moment. She wasn't sure she could trust him, but Hope's life is on the line. His abilities would definitely be useful, as they don't have a witch on their side. The only witch who may help was Davina Claire, but she hates the Originals for their actions towards her and the people she cared about. There are a lot of other witches in New Orleans, but they all hate vampires. Unlike Kai, none of them would offer to help. They might be able to force one to help, but that would take far too long.

Hayley nodded, acquiescing to Kai's insistence on helping. Besides, they have the indestructible white oak stake if he proves to be untrustworthy. Assuming what he said about him being an Original vampire is true.

"I tried to locate your daughter using spells, but she has been cloaked. Finn has no doubt hit the same road bumps I did. I know some locator spells that would find her, but they would all break any spells preventing your daughter from being found."

"Also, Finn has hours ahead of me. He may already be on his way to the baby." Kai said, causing Hayley to pale; terrified for her baby.

"So I thought it would be faster if I get her location from you."

Kai clicked his fingers, and his boundary spell dissolved. He then threw Hayley her cell phone.

Hayley called Elijah, but he didn't answer, further increasing her dread. She then called Klaus, telling him about the danger their daughter was in. Kai could hear Klaus is very displeased with this news. After hanging up the phone, she turned to him.

"We need to get to Hope now! The sooner we get there, the sooner we can save her." Hayley said.

"But first, I need to get her location from you."

"We do not have time for this, I can drive!" Hayley insisted hurriedly, making her way to the door.

He intercepted her. "You will never make it there in time by car! Give me her location, I can get there much more quickly than a car. Trust me." Kai's eyes reflected his sincerity, it was very clear that he wanted to help save her daughter; though she had no idea why he wanted to save her daughter, a baby Kai has never even seen.

Hayley calmed slightly. The knowledge that Kai can get to her daughter much more quickly reassuring her.

Kai placed his hands on her head. "Okay, I need you to open your mind to me."

She did as requested. Kai immediately entered her mind with his vampire telepathy. He saw glimpses of memories, he kept digging until he found what he needed. He quickly withdrew from her mind when he had Hope's location.

"I will make sure that Hope is safe, I promise."

Before she could ask what he was going to do, Kai vanished - leaving her all alone. She realised Kai had teleported, which explained what Kai meant when he'd told her he could get to her daughter much more quickly than by driving.

With nothing to do, she tried to call Klaus and Elijah once again. While hoping Kai wouldn't be too late to save her daughter, and her trust in him was not misplaced.

Kai had used the location he got from Hayley's mind as a marker to teleport. As soon as he appeared in the plantation, he immediately used his vampire hearing. He heard signs of conflict coming from inside the house. As he walked to the front door, he wondered if anyone owns this house. It's a good way of keeping all uninvited vampires out; well, nearly all uninvited vampires.

During his time in Mystics Falls, Kai discovered that he could walk into houses owned by non-vampires, without invitation. This had come as a shock to all his friends.

Bonnie had invited all her friends over to her place. When she had opened the door and greeted them all, Kai, who'd yet to be told about the vampire invitation rules, had walked inside her house before she'd verbally invited him in.

He had noticed their shock, but he hadn't known why were shocked. They'd explained that vampires, including Originals and Hybrids, need to be invited into a house before they can enter it; unless it is owned by a vampire. According to his friends, vampires need to be invited into homes owned by a living owner, but since they're undead, homes owned by vampires can be entered by other vampires without them needing to be invitated in by the house's owner. And because he had never been to Bonnie's house since becoming a vampire, Kai should not have been able to enter until Bonnie verbally invited him in; he had been there in the prison world while looking for magical knowledge, like grimoires, and magical objects, like objects that were spelled for a specific purpose, or that can store magic in them.

Bonnie had hypothesised that Kai could enter houses without invitation due to him being alive when he activated the spell that turned Kai into the Enhanced Original.

When Esther had used the spell to turn her family into vampires, and when she used the modified version to turn Alaric, she'd cast the spell on blood they had drunk to turn them - which is why vampires need to drink human blood to complete the transition.

Esther's spell activated when the person the spell is cast on dies, it then merges with their blood; which is why her family, and then later Alaric, had to die after they drank the blood she'd cast the Immortality spell on - Esther's Immortality spell can't activate until the person who drank the spelled blood dies with it in their system.

This is why the blood of vampires can turn others into vampires, and why it only does so when someone dies with vampire blood in their system; the magic from the spelled blood the Original vampires drank to become vampires became part of their blood - this gave their blood the same properties as the spelled blood they drank to become vampires. Their blood possessing the same properties as the spelled blood that turned them into vampires is why the blood of the Originals has the ability to turn people into vampires; since this magic is part of their blood, it was also passed down to anyone they turned into vampires. These properties are why vampire blood has the ability to turn people into vampires, and why people need to die with vampire blood in their system to be turned; both of these properties were passed down from the blood Esther had cast her Immortality spell on. To turn someone into an Original, Esther's spell needs the person to die with the spelled blood in their system, this being passed down is why people who have vampire blood in their system will only be turned if they die with it in their system. The magic which turns a person into a vampire only activates if a person dies with vampire blood in their system; just like how Esther's spell needed those who drank the spelled blood to die so the magic could activate and turn them into Originals.

When someone enters transition, their body has already been turned into a vampire's body, evidenced by how they will have some of a vampire's powers and abilities while they're in transition, transition is only about stabilizing a person's vampirism. Because human blood was used in the spell that created vampires, human blood is the only thing that can stabilize the vampirism of someone in transition. This is why animal blood cannot stabilize the vampirism of someone who's in transition; since human blood was used in the creation of vampires, only human blood can stabilize the vampirism of someone in transition.

Though a vampire can also drink the blood of a witch to complete their transition. This is because of how Esther turned her family into vampires, she'd used the blood of a human dopplegänger - whose blood possesses magical properties. Witches are nearly physically identical to humans and, like dopplegängers, a witch's blood also has magical properties. These similarities are why vampires can complete their transition by drinking the blood of a witch instead of the blood of a human.

A person only has to drink human or witch blood to complete their transition though; as soon as someone has completed their transition, they can immediately switch to animal blood if they do not want to drink the blood of humans or witches.

Vampires in transition are essentially still partially human though; since they aren't fully human or vampire, someone in transition is not dead or alive. If someone doesn't complete the transition within twenty-four hours of their death, their vampirism will become unstable and fall apart; this is why someone dies if they don't complete the transition in time. If they don't complete the transition in time, right before they die from the vampirism becoming unstable, their body will return to whatever state it was in before they died with vampire blood in their system, and woke up in transition.

This applies to Hybrids as well, though turning someone from a werewolf into a Hybrid is more difficult; the blood of a normal vampire, including a normal Original, isn't powerful enough to turn a werewolf into a Hybrid, except for the blood of Klaus Mikaelson, who is part-Original, part-werewolf. Completing the transition from werewolf to Hybrid requires them to complete their transition by drinking blood that contains a lot of power - to bind the two sides together to exist within a single body; this can be done by completing the transition by drinking the blood of a human dopplegänger, like when Tyler Lockwood became a Hybrid, or a witch's blood, like Hayley Marshall, after she died with her daughter's blood in her system, and had to drink a bit of it in order to complete the transition. Though completing the transition from werewolf to Hybrid by drinking a witch's blood will only work if their blood is strong enough. Klaus and Hope both have blood that is strong enough that they can turn werewolves into Hybrids; if turned by Klaus, they'd need to drink human dopplegänger blood to complete their transition, and if turned by Hope, they'd need to drink her blood.

Transition is basically about whether the person will live as a vampire, or in the case of hybrids, a vampire and something else, or die as whatever they were before.

This is why even though Alaric was turned into the Enhanced Original vampire, Alaric still would've died, like he had intended, if he had not completed his transition.

Alaric's Enhanced Original vampirism was already activate when it was stripped away. So, when Kai had repaired the spell, it was already active; thus removing the need to die to activate it and turn someone into the Enhanced Original vampire.

It was activated vampirism, which didn't require the person it was cast on to die, that attached itself to, and had turned, Kai - a living being.

As a result, the spell turned Kaihim into a living vampire, instead of an undead vampire.

Making Kai the first vampire in history, besides Silas and Amara, to be alive.

Kai had thought he had died when the Immortality spell hit him, but Bonnie theorised that since the spell had already been activated when it turned Alaric, it wouldn't have needed to kill Kai to turn him into a vampire. It had only needed to knock Kai out to turn him; it had basically sent him into a magical sleep, while it transformed his body from the body of a witch into the body of a vampire.

So even though he's a vampire, Kai, as a living being, can enter houses without having to be invited in by the house's owner.

Kai could also own his own houses and, unlike ones owned by undead vampires, Kai's houses would be like a normal living person owning them; meaning all invitation rules that vampires follow apply to buildings owned by Kai. Though Kai currently has no plans to own any buildings.

Kai could clearly hear that there was a confrontation going on inside the house.

Finn is possessing a powerful witch, and is also channeling the magic of Mikael - an Original vampire. So his magical onslaught is overwhelming Elijah.

Kai couldn't sense the baby in the house. Which meant it was either too late, or the baby is not here. He realised it was the latter after hearing the conversation inside the house; based on what Kai heard, the baby isn't even here - so Finn has yet to hurt her. Realising this, Kai let out a sigh of relief.

Kai did not want to reveal himself to everyone just yet.

So Kai decided to help from outside the house. Kai placed his palms onto the wall, his eyes glowing with power.

The house slightly vibrated with magic for a moment as Kai put up a boundary spell around it; stopping the people inside the house from leaving. Finn would no doubt realise the disturbance.

He then began manipulating the air inside the house; he slowly pulled the oxygen out of the house, and began replacing it with hydrogen from outside.

Inside the house, Finn started to notice that something was wrong.

Finn started feeling dizzy and hard of concentration as the level of oxygen in the house decreased. Elijah was also weakening from a lack of oxygen.

Kai concentrated most of the hydrogen so it was surrounding the two Mikaelsons, though mostly around Finn.

Once the house was nearly full of hydrogen gas, Kai backed far away from it. He then lazily raised his left hand, and a bolt of lightning shot out of his fingers and into the house, straight through the house's front door, destroying it, and continuing into the house.

The reaction was instantaneous: the bolt of lightning ignited the hydrogen in the front of the house, this caused a chain reaction that ignited the hydrogen in the rest of the house. The resulting explosion engulfed the entire house. Kai was far enough away he didn't have to worry about getting hit by debris. He ls not worried about Elijah, the Original vampire was likely only temporally knocked out from the explosion, and it wouldn't take long to heal.

As the flames died down, Kai could only sense a single magic signature coming from the now destroyed house - Elijah's. Kai siphoned away the boundary spell that he had placed around the house.

Elijah would regenerate soon. Kai wondered if Elijah would be willing to mentor him if he found out that Kai had blown him up. His friends told him Elijah would be the best of the Originals to teach him; apparently, Elijah is much more patient than his siblings, and he, like Kai, is an Original vampire who knows martial arts.

With that done, Kai had to find the baby and make sure that she is safe. The cloaking spell on Hope could only ward her from being found by spells. As the only tribrid baby, Hope Mikaelson should have a distinctive magical pulse; which Kai should be able to sense once she is within his sensing range.

Everyone has a completely unique signature, but like relatives, each species has a few parts of their signatures that are similar. These similarities differ from species to species, which is how Kai can distinguish not only if someone is supernatural or not, but also what type of being someone is; as long as Kai knows what signature belongs to what species, and what similarities all the signatures of a specific species share.

Thanks to his time in Mystic Falls, Kai is now familiar with the signatures of werewolves, witches, and vampires. Hope is a tribrid of all three, so her signature should be similar to all three species; because she is a witch, a werewolf, and a vampire, Hope's signature should have elements from all three.

Kai expanded his senses, he found a magical signature a mile out from the house; it had to be Hope's - as, like he thought, the signature has similarities to all three species that Hope born from.

He ran towards it, and within minutes he saw where the signature he's sensing was coming from; it was coming from a black four-wheel drive car.

The car was parked at the side of the road. Kai cloaked himself and approached the car. He noticed a familiar blond woman sat in the driver's seat. Camille. It would seem Kai's suspicion was correct; Cami is a lot like Matt - both are blond bartenders, and both are humans who are involved with the supernatural world.

Kai focused his attention to the child in the back seat. The child seems a bit tired, likely from her outing with the blond baby-sitter/therapist/bartender, but, other than that, Kai concluded the baby seemed to be fine.

What was interesting was that the baby is staring right at Kai, even though he's still cloaked. Kai moved his right hand through the air, and Hope's eyes followed it, he waved at her his left hand, and she tried to wave back, Kai paced back and forth for a few feet, and her eyes followed him; she really is watching him, not just looking at the space that he happens to be in.

It is only a basic cloaking spell, and he hadn't put much power into it, but Finn hadn't noticed Kai at all during his interrogation of Marcel, and that went on for several hours. Kol hadn't noticed him either when he was there. Kai is currently using the same spell he used then, with the same amount of power he used then; yet Hope, a baby, can still see him, when a couple of adults hadn't even been able to detect his presence, let alone see him.

'Hope has a lot of potential.' Kai thought, amazed.

Kai smiled at the baby and put a finger to his lips, indicating for the baby to be quiet. The baby gurgled back happily, not at all quiet.

Camille was wondering why Hope seemed so happy all of a sudden. To her, it seemed that the baby was just looking out of the window, and was finding amusement from merely looking at the scenery outside the car.

Cami was still reeling from her experience moments earlier. She had been driving Hope back to the safehouse and was only a short distance away, when her car had suddenly stopped, and wouldn't start up again.

Which was turned out to be a good thing, as the house they were heading to had exploded shortly after. If the car hadn't shut down when it did, she may have been caught in the explosion. Cami thought she might be crazy for thinking it, but she had a feeling Hope had something to do with her car stopping; especially since her car started up again after the house exploded. With the house blown up, Cami was not sure what to do now; which is the reason that she has not done anything yet, along with her still being in shock after seeing the house explode.

Kai sensed Elijah's signature moving towards their location. He decided it was time for him to return to New Orleans now the baby was in safe hands.

Hayley had decided to wait for Kai to return. Klaus and Elijah weren't answering their phones. All she could do is wait. She hated this, hated not knowing if everyone she cares about is safe. And most of all, she hated feeling helpless when someone she cares about is in danger - especially Hope.

Hayley hoped Elijah would be able to hold Finn off long enough for Cami to take her daughter to safety. She hoped with Kai's help, they'd be able to at least stop, or preferably kill, Finn. She decided to wait at the hotel for him to return; she had no other way of contacting him.

As she waited, Hayley's phone rang. She saw it Elijah who was calling, she picked up immediately. "Elijah! Is Hope safe?"

"Yes, we're taking her back to New Orleans." His answer was succinct, but his words were enough. She felt tremendous relief wash over her.

"What happened to Finn, is he dead?" She asked.

"…" Elijah paused. "For now at least, though I can't be sure he didn't jump into someone else's body. We will talk more at the compound, we should be back in a few hours. I will see you then."

With that, Elijah hung up.

Hayley stared at her phone for a moment. She let the events of the whole day wash over her. It was surreal to say the least.

She decided that she no longer needed to stay. She was about to make her leave when Kai teleported back into the room. His sudden reappearance startled her.

Kai had teleported back to his hotel room. He was surprised to find Hayley still there. He'd thought she would have left after he went to rescue her daughter.

"Oh, so you're still here."

"Yes, I've just heard, my daughter is safe." She said, before sincerely expressing her gratitude. "Thank you. You will always have a friend with the wolves."

He nodded and smiled. "It was nothing. I merely sped up the process."

"What happened?" She asked.

"I couldn't get into the house, since I wasn't invited in." Kai lied. "So I helped in the only way I could."

Kai lied to her because now Hope is okay, he did not want to reveal anything else to draw her attention. Which would happen if Kai tells her he's a vampire invitation rules don't apply to. She'd already been wary and scared of him when he'd revealed himself as an Original-Heretic. He knows her finding out that invitation rules not apply to Kai would make this worse, and would draw her attention even more than what he already told her about him did. Kai might tell her, eventually.

"What did you do?"

"Ikindofblewupthehouse." He said quickly and rather quietly.

Her Hybrid hearing picked up what he said perfectly, but she was not sure she heard him correctly. "Sorry, could you repeat that, I thought I heard you say that you bl-" Before she could finish, Kai cut her off.

"Yeah, I kind of blew up the house." He said wary, waiting for her to explode at him.

While Kai does not fear anyone, he would be stupid not to be wary of an angry mother; especially an angry Hybrid mother.

"…" She walked up to him, positioning herself so she look Kai in the eye. "YOU BLEW UP THE HOUSE?!"

"HOW COULD YOU DO SOMETHING SO RECKLESS?" She ranted. She started pacing back and forth in a straight line. Throwing her hands in the air incredulously. He let Hayley finish her tirade, knowing she was still emotional from the danger her baby had been in.

"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? HOPE COULD HAVE BEEN HURT!"

"As you heard, Hope is safe. I made sure she wasn't inside the house before blowing it up." Kai assured her. He'd also kept an eye out in case anyone appeared, and he needed to use telekinesis to deflect the debris to make sure they didn't get hurt. He was a little irritated by what she said, it is like she thinks he is stupid enough to let the baby he was protecting get hurt by his own actions. He shook it off quickly, Hayley doesn't know him, and she's only thinking about her daughter.

His expression then switched to playful.

"Please, I am not some idiot." He joked. "You should return to your family."

After calming from her outburst, Hayley agreed that she should leave - Jackson would be wondering where she is.

"I'm sorry for yelling at you just now." Hayley said, realising she just yelled at the man who had helped her daughter.

He shrugged, waving off her apology. "Don't sweat it."

His tone then became more serious. "But I need you to promise me you won't tell anyone about my presence in the city, at least not yet, or about what I am, unless it's necessary. I just arrived in New Orleans, I'm not looking for trouble."

Kai is only half lying. After being put away for nearly 2 decades, any kind of trouble is extremely enticing to him. He knows he is a trouble magnet. And New Orleans has troubles of its own.

The reason for secrecy was Kai wanted to become more familiar with the dynamics of the city before becoming more involved. He'd planned to lay low, but the baby's endangerment had forced his hand. The other reason for secrecy is he wants as few people as possible to know who, and what, he is, and the things he can do.

Original vampires attract attention and trouble, often simply because of what they are. An Original that is also a witch would bring even more attention and trouble. A vampire-witch hybrid is believed to be completely impossible, and vampires are not supposed to be able to enter a house without invitation. And being a vampire who is capable of entering houses without invitation would likely bring attention and trouble, even if Kai was not an Original vampire and couldn't use magic. This, plus the fact that he's an Original vampire who can use magic, means Kai could bring more attention and trouble than any other vampire, and that's without including Kai isn't just an Original vampire, but the Enhanced Original vampire.

Being an Original, being able to use magic despite being a vampire, being able to enter houses without being invited in by the living owner, and being an Original who is superior to the other Originals, were all things which could bring attention and trouble - probably from people who would seek any of these things for themselves or someone else; this could include witches who've become vampires and want to see if there is a way for them to use magic, witches who want immortality but want to keep using magic, vampires who want to find a way around the invitation rules, vampires who want to be more powerful than an Original; some because they want to be safe from the sireline link, some because they dislike how the invitation rules restrict them, and some who just want more power.

This is the reason that Kai wanted as few people as possible knowing who he is, as they may try and use those he cares about in order to get to him, or to manipulate him in some way. Because of this, Kai won't tell people unless he trusts them enough, or thinks it is necessary for someone to know; even in these cases, Kai will only tell someone what he thinks they need to know or, in the case of people he trusts, things that come up in conversation. Kai won't hide things from them, but he won't mention something to them unless it comes up, or there's a reason for him to bring it up.

If it wasn't for the danger to the people that he cares about, Kai wouldn't really care about how much trouble came his way. Well, until he finds the trouble to be more annoying than fun.

"I'll have to tell Jackson, my fiancé. It's a requirement for our marriage ceremony, there can be no secrets between husband and wife." She explained.

"Okay, you can tell him, as long as you make him swear not to tell anyone."

"Okay." Hayley nodded. She wanted to show her gratitude. "If you ever need anything, you're now friends to the Crescent werewolves of New Orleans."

Kai was honestly surprised by her offer. He had saved the baby because she is unique, and therefore intriguing. Although he had to admit, the tribrid baby was very cute, but he only learned that after saving her from Finn.

"Okay. I won't say no to that." He said.

"Then, as friends, if you need my help, feel free to call." Kai said, offering her his hand. She shook it - sealing their impromptu pact.

As Hayley made for the door, almost as an afterthought she called out. "My wedding is in two days. Please come."

Kai grinned his most charming smile. "As you wish. Who am I to deny the bride her wish?" Kai asked rhetorically.

After Hayley left, he sealed the door. He dropped onto the bed, the weariness of the long day catching up to him. In less than twenty-four hours, he has thwarted a witch's attempt to kill an innocent baby, and gained the friendship of both the vampire Faction and the Cresent werewolf pack.

'Not bad for a first day.' Kai reflected, before falling asleep. Even immortal beings need to rest.

Kai arrived at Marcel's loft around noon. He noticed that all of his vampires were just doing their own thing around the place. Clearly, whatever spell Finn had used on them had been lifted. All Marcel's vampires noticed Kai walk through, but none of them tried to stop him; as they believed if he's a threat, Marcel could handle it.

As he made his way to Marcel, Kai saw him talking with a male and female vampire. They both looked young, in their early twenties; though that was irrelevant since vampires don't show physical signs of ageing - so they could be a lot older than they look.

Marcel noticed Kai approaching, and nodded at him in greeting.

When he reached them, Marcel turned to the vampires with him. "Josh, Gia, I would like to introduce you to Kai. I only met him recently, but Kai has already proven to be reliable in tight situations. Like you two, he's also a new vampire."

Both Josh and Gia were confused and surprised to hear Marcel give such praise to someone he hasn't known long.

Josh, being the oldest vampire present, after Marcel of course, was only confused because he didn't recognise the vampire. "Did you turn him Marcel?"

"No, I didn't. Kai here came from out of town." He told his two lieutenants. Though he couldn't help but wonder which sireline Kai belonged to. But Marcel concluded that it wasn't important.

Marcel then turned to Kai. "I have some business to attend too, please make yourself at home. These two…" gestured to Josh and Gia. "…will show you around."

With that said, Marcel left to attend to his business.

Kai turned to the other two vampires and grinned at them. "Well, now that Marcel ditched us, I'm Kai." He held out his hand to them.

Gia and Josh took turns to shake his hand and introduce themselves. Gia and Josh told him the status quo in the city, and how vampires are expected to behave.

Apparently, they're only allowed to feed on tourists; as agreed upon by the Human Faction and Marcel. He nodded to show that he understood, and he agreed to follow their feeding rules as well.

While they were talking, he heard the sounds of fighting coming from the front yard of Marcel's loft. He looked out of the window, and saw two vampires fighting.

"What are they doing? Is there some conflict between those two?" He asked Josh.

It was Gia who answered.

"No. They're just sparring to vent their frustration. They have too much testosterone in my opinion. Being taken down by a single witch wasn't good on their ego."

Kai looked excited. "Maybe I could join in."

"She said they are sparring, but they can get a little rough at times. If it weren't for Marcel's rules about killing vampires, I think we would have had fatalities by now." Josh said with a grimace, remembering a few times spars had to be stopped to prevent the vampires from going too far.

If Kai didn't look excited before, he might as well be jumping on the spot right then. Kai wanted to fight.

Gia looked at his excited expression and sighed. "Yes, you can join in, but no fatalities."

Kai just grinned at her. If only she knew.

When Marcel returned to his loft, he saw most of his vampires panting on the ground; trying to catch their breaths, some were unconscious, while others were sitting and drinking from blood-bags - trying to regain their strength.

At first, Marcel was worried there might have been an attack while he was out, but he quickly felt that was not the case. 'What the hell is going on?'

Marcel then turned his attention towards what all his other vampires were focusing on.

It sounded like a fight. Then he saw what they were paying attention to. Kai was fighting against three of his vampires. It seemed to be a competition, as some of his vampires were cheering from the sidelines. Marcel was surprised that some of his vampires were actually cheering for Kai.

Marcel decided to quietly observe the fight.

Kai dodged a punch from one vampire and parried a second's, before delivering a kick that sent a third vampire crashing into the first. He then manoeuvred so that he was behind the second vampire's back, grabbed him in a chokehold, and then, with a little force, Kai snapped the second vampire's neck.

The two remaining vampire got back up and tried to retaliate, but Kai quickly dodged both of their attacks, elbowed one in the side of the head knocking him back, Kai then flipped the other vampire onto the ground, just after the vampire hit the ground, Kai used his left hand to deliver a jab that snapped the vampire's neck.

The last vampire had recovered and threw a punch. Kai deftly parried the strike, pulled him closer, then executed a palm thrust to the man's head, snapping his neck as well. And with that finish, the remaining spectators applauded thunderously.

Gia was impressed; she had watched Kai's fights from the very start. He seemed well versed in martial arts, as his forms were polished, and all of his attacks were very precise and methodical.

At the same time, she thought his fighting style was quite aggressive, as he seemed to charge right in without hesitation or fear. Because of this, at the start of his fights, he had received a number of hits, but what amazed her about Kai, was how he would bounce back and continue fighting, quickly adapting to his opponent's fighting styles.

Gia believed Kai is also picking up techniques and moves as he fought, as she had seen him use fighting moves that were used against him earlier, sometimes only moments before. To Gia, Kai's fighting ability is nothing short of amazing. The only other vampire she can think of with an affinity for martial arts is Elijah, but with Kai, it is different; while Elijah may use them to fight, Kai also learns as he fights, he's constantly adapting, constantly learning, and constantly increasing his skills.

Her thoughts were cut off when she heard someone clapping from behind her. It was Marcel.

"Great fight!" Marcel appraised. "I don't think I have ever seen such a young vampire fight like that."

"It was nothing, I had some martial arts training before I was turned into a vampire." Kai said sheepishly, as his adrenaline began dying down.

Despite appearances, Kai had actually been using his original fighting style, so he hadn't used any of vampire abilities in any of the fights. The constant training before becoming a vampire gave him enough strength to snap a vampire's neck.

Average human strength could not do this; but with all his training, Kai had been at peek human strength before he was turned. Though even with this, his full human strength is only enough to snap the neck of young vampires; who aren't as durable as old vampires. And Marcel's vampires are very young, most of them aren't much older than Kai. For him to need to use at least some of his vampire strength to snap a vampire's neck would require them to be older than Marcel's vampires.

Damon and Stefan spent enough time training him to fight vampires Kai could beat them both without his vampire abilities; since they were both turned nearly thirty years after Marcel, Kai didn't need to use his abilities when fighting Marcel's vampires - as they are all much younger than Stefan and Damon. Though Stefan isn't as strong as he could be, the age difference between Stefan and Marcel's vampires is big enough that he is still faster and stronger than them.

Stefan is not as strong as he could be because he only drinks animal blood - which does not make a vampire as strong as feeding on human blood does. Stefan does this because he is a Ripper; a vampire who has far more blood-thirsty tendencies than an average vampire - however, like with Stefan, there are some vampires who are only like this after they've fed on human blood, and only become like this because they can't control themselves after drinking human blood; sometimes drinking human blood can bring out the darkest part of their vampiric nature - which is what can result in calm, kind, vampires becoming blood-thirsty monsters after they've fed on human blood. This is why Stefan has trouble controlling himself, but Damon doesn't.

Marcel nodded and asked Kai to follow him back to his loft. "You told me yesterday that you were looking for someone. I've lived in this city for a long time, I know a lot of poeple in New Orleans, and I have lots of connections in this city. Just say the word, and I can help facilitate your search." Marcel offered.

"Thanks for the offer, but I have already found who I was looking for, though perhaps you can arrange for us to officially meet tomorrow." Kai told the older vampire.

Marcel raised an eyebrow. "Who were you looking for?" Marcel asked. It must be someone that he knows, Marcel doubted that Kai would ask him to introduce Kai to them if Marcel had never acutally met the person, or people, that Kai had been looking for.

Kai stared at Marcel for a moment, quietly trying to decide whether to be blunt with Marcel about his intentions in the Crescent city. So far, he hadn't found a reason to tell someone about his purpose here. At the same time, while making allies left and right, he hadn't found a reason to hide his reasons for being in this city either.

Kai sighed, considering. After a few more moments of thought, Kai made his decision, and his usual grin reappeared a few moments later.

"Well Marcel, you have shown me great hospitality today, and your guys have shown me a great time. So I see no harm in telling you who I was looking for."

Marcel waited for Kai to continue expectedly.

"I came here to find the Original vampires."

Marcel was immediately alert and suspicious. "What business do you have with the Mikaelsons?"

Kai immediately sensed the wave of emotions rolling off of Marcel and quickly tried to dissolve his friend's concerns. "Don't worry Marcel, I have no quarrels with your sire or any of his family."

Marcel visibly calmed at his assurance, though only a little.

"My business with them is that I seek out their help."

Once again, Marcel was interested by something about Kai; like how after Kai had helped him and his vampires, his instincts told him that he should be careful around Kai, then there's how he's unusually powerful.

Kai had only been turned recently, yet had defeated all Marcel's vampires and didn't even seem tired, and watching him fight, it felt like he'd been holding back; based on what Marcel had seen during Kai's last fight, there was nothing to show he had been physically pushing himself, this made it seem like he was holding back, and by the time of his last fight, he'd already fought nearly all Marcel's vampires, so Kai should have been tired, yet he wasn't tired, despite him only being turned recently. If Kai was much more powerful than them, it could explain why he wasn't tired after fighting them all, but being turned recently means Kai should be similar in power to Marcel's vampires, maybe less powerful; depending on how strong Kai was before he was turned, and how recently he'd been turned. Kai hadn't told him when he had been turned, only that he was turned quite recently.

Marcel's instincts told him that Kai was telling the truth about only being turned quite recently, and he trusts his instincts, so he didn't believe that Kai was lying about being turned quite recently, but Marcel's instincts also told him that Kai was leaving something out. If Kai is leaving something out, it may explain why he seems to be more powerful than recently turned vampires normally are. Marcel's guess is that Kai is like Tyler Lockwood, a werewolf-vampire hybrid Klaus turned and who came to New Orleans looking for revenge after Klaus killed his mom, but that Klaus had decided not to kill after defeating him. If he's like Tyler, then Kai was only turned into a vampire a few years ago at most, as Klaus hadn't succeeded in turning a werewolf into a Hybrid until a few years. If Kai is a werewolf-vampire hybrid, it would explain why he is more powerful than an average vampire that was only turned a few years ago, and could be what Marcel thinks Kai isn't telling him.

"More specifically, I am seeking Elijah's help; I want to become his student."

Marcel was surprised. He hadn't expected that. Marcel knows that over the years Elijah has taken on many students to impart his wisdom onto. Marcel, himself, had once been one of Elijah's students. Though Marcel also knows Elijah doesn't do anything without a reason.

"You want Elijah Mikaelson to teach you? What do you want Elijah to teach you?"

Kai sighed, pausing for a few seconds, before deciding he'll tell Marcel more than he'd originally planned to tell him. "I want Elijah to help me reach my full potential as a vampire; to teach me how to utilise my vampire powers and abilities to their full potential."

"As nice as that sounds, I doubt that Elijah would take you on as a student for that reason alone; believe me, I've known him long enough." Marcel considered it for several moments. Elijah had agreed to taking on Gia as a student easily enough.

"If you want a mentor, I'm more than happy to help you out."

"I appreciate the offer Marcel, but what I want to learn, I believe only one of the Originals can teach me. I would prefer Elijah to teach me, as I have heard he is the least temperamental of the Originals, but if need be, I can work with Rebekah or Klaus."

Marcel shook his head. "Why are you so fixated on the Originals? Believe me when I tell you that death follows that family. It won't end well for you if you get mixed up with that family."

Kai grinned at his friend. "Don't worry Marcel, I do not fear death. And the reason I seek out an Original is simple."

"And why could you possibly need to learn from one of the Originals?"

"Because due to a series of miraculous circumstances, I'm like them."

"…What do you mean?" Marcel queried, not understanding what the younger vampire was trying to say.

Kai gave his usual grin. "When I said I have become just like them, I meant it, I'm an Original vampire."

A/N: Don't expect regular updates, each chapter takes me a while, and I have been busy lately, and I'll continue to be busy for a very long time. I'll still work on on this story, but since baringan hasn't posted a new chapters in years, I will stop posting chapters when I've modified and posted the last one; though I might go over chapters and modify them again - like I've already done several times.

As it says on the top A/N, I think baringan's fic is one of the best fics I have ever read on this site; this version of it is just me tweaking the story to my own liking, and I only posted it on here in case others might like my version better. However, I think if I were to try and write a completely new chapter myself, I may ruin this version, which I feel would not give baringan the respect they deserve for creating such a great fic - this is the main reason I asked baringan for permission before posting my version. Without permission, I would still have written it, I just wouldn't have posted it.

Each time I re-write a chapter of baringan's fic, I have to go through it, deciding what to keep, what to change, fix any spelling mistakes (like when baringan twice wrote Marvel instead of Marcel), then I have to go back over it to make sure it's all to my liking. I do this multiple times now, just to make sure there aren't any spelling mistakes, and that everything is to my liking. This is why it takes me so long to modify and post each chapter, it takes me a while when I decide to modify a chapter that I have already posted as well; I re-read the chapter I posted multiple times to decide what changes I want to make to it, or things I want to add to it.

Now for a couple of things I want to clarify.

I know that the Enhanced Original seems to have all of the same power, abilities and weaknesses normal Originals have, except for white oak; since they can only die when the mortal they're linked to dies - unlike normal Originals, who can be killed with white oak.

I decided to explain my reasons for why the Enhanced Original vampire is weak to werewolf venom and vervain even though it shouldn't be weak to either of them. In fact, based on my reasoning, neither of them should have any affect whatsoever on the Enhanced Original vampire.

Since white oak wasn't used in the spell to create the Enhanced Original, I felt vervain shouldn't affect it or its powers; vervain affects vampires and their compulsion because it grew at the base of the tree that Esther used to turn her family into vampires - since white oak wasn't used when Esther created the Enhanced Original, vervain should never have had any affect on the Enhanced Original, or its powers.

Werewolf venom affects non-Hybrids because Esther turned her family into vampires in order to make them faster and stronger than werewolves; as a balance, they were made weak to werewolf venom. It could also be because Henrik Mikaelson being killed by a werewolf is what led to the creation of vampires, to make sure that it wouldn't happen again. It could be both of these reasons. The Enhanced Original was made to end the vampire race though, so these reasons don't apply to the Enhanced Original; I think this means the Enhanced Original should not be affected by werewolf venom.

I also realised since Kai was turned by a different version of the spell, he could have some different weaknesses, so I explained why Kai doesn't have any more weaknesses through the spell, and through Nature, and it ignoring siphoners because of them being completely unnatural. In the show, it's shown time and time that no being in their universe has no weaknesses, and that Nature will always balance things; in this, since Nature had already balanced the Enhanced Original spell, it saw this as already done. Yes the spell was empowered and repaired by Kai, but because he's a siphoner, the way Nature views siphoners meant Nature ignored Kai until it was far too late for Nature to do anything.

I mentioned Nature creating other universes because of Kai, like I did right after he completed his transition, due to how I imagine this fic. I imagine this as the first of any and all universes, not just the first vampire diaries universe (vdu for short). Any and all other universes came after this one. It seemed like a good way of explaining why not everything in this universe is exactly the same as it is in canon. My mentioning of Nature creating new universes is a nod towards how I imagine this fic; I imagine the canon universe is a universe that was created as a direct result of this universe's Kai becoming the True Immortal.

I put the information about transition to explain why someone in transition still has a vampire's abilities (though not as strong as someone who has already completed the transition), to also say why I think someone in transition isn't alive or dead, and to explain why I think someone who doesn't complete the transition dies.

After all, the magic of vampirism heals the wounds the person had when they died - so why would they die again if their body is healed? This always bothered me in the show, my idea of transition only stabilising the vampirism is my way to explain it, and explain why those in transition have some vampire powers and abilities, but are not considered vampires, and are not considered to be alive or dead.

In this, it is because they are mostly vampires (with some of their species elements left); so when someone does not complete their transition, their new body falls apart. To those who can become more than just vampires, completing the transition also connects someone's sides together.I do not think that it merges the sides though, it just connects them. As I see it, if it merged them together, then the binding of one side just would not work, or it would bind both sides; if their sides were merged into one, then it wouldn't be possible to bind just one side, and Hayley wouldn't have died, as with both sides bound, Hayley would have basically been human, and thus unaffected by sunlight, or it wouldn't have bound her at all and she'd still have been a Hybrid, and thus she would've still been immune to sunlight; either way, the sunlight would not have killed Hayley if both her sides had been bound. If it had made her human, she would have remained that way until they found a way to break it, if they would have ever found a way.

I realised while looking over things, I didn't mention Hybrids while talking about vampire transition. I did slightly change how Klaus' blood works in regards to Hybrids. According to what people said on the vdu wiki, a curse cast by Esther stops Klaus from creating Hybrids, by making it so Hybrids need to complete their transition by drinking the blood of a human dopplegänger. I think Klaus would still want to create Hybrids in order to protect his family, yet he didn't look into breaking this curse; Klaus spent over 1000 years trying to break the binding on his werewolf side so he could have the added power being a Hybrid granted him, yet Klaus did not even try to break the curse that makes it so any Hybrids he creates need to complete the transition by drinking human dopplegänger blood. Klaus seemed glad Hayley married into a werewolf pack because they could be called for help, but he did not even try to break this curse, even though doing so would allow him to create Hybrids, without needing human dopplegänger blood, to protect him and his family. With how many enemies they have to deal with, I would expect Klaus would still want an army of Hybrids.

In this fic, Klaus' blood isn't powerful enough to create Hybrids without using human dopplegänger blood to complete the transition; it acts as a magical stabilising agent. Since Elena became a vampire, Klaus just decided to give up on creating Hybrids. Klaus also gave up on creating them because his army turned against him after learning how to break their sire bond to him, which basically made them his slaves. Even if Elena had remained human, Klaus wouldn't have created more Hybrids because he became paranoid they'd eventually turn on him. At least it is why Klaus didn't care about creating more Hybrids in this fic; he didn't care if Elena became human again because he stopped caring about making Hybrids.

I realised I have talked about Stefan's blood-lust problems, but haven't explained it in any chapter. In this chapter, I mentioned him and Damon teaching Kai about how to be a vampire, so I decided to mention it here; while also giving an explanation for why Stefan struggles to control his thirst for human blood, but why most vampires, at least from what we have seen, don't have the same problem.

I also decided to show Marcel's intelligence by having him notice Kai's unusual level of power. Marcel has been around Originals long enough he should be able to notice when a vampire is holding back. After all, Kai isn't the only vampire who holds back; if the Originals always went all out, then a lot of their fights would have ended much more quickly.
