Here is the next ship, KiriMina! I was afraid I wouldn't be able to come up with something to follow last week's chapter, but I'm pretty proud of this chapter. I hope you all enjoy :)
As Jiro entered her room she debated on if she should say anything about her and Kaminari to Sumire. "Hey Sumire, I'm back! Sorry I took a little while."
Sumire looked up from the guitar, "Don't worry it wasn't that long."
Jiro went to grab her favorite bass and plugged it into an amp. She was about to play but then set the bass back down carefully onto a stand. "Sumire, I'm going to tell you a secret because I trust you. I mean it's sort of a secret… I guess I'm just not ready for everybody to know about it" Jiro turned to Sumire and paused, "Kaminari just asked me to be his date to the party."
"Oh wow! I'm so happy for you Jiro!" Sumire exclaimed. "Don't worry, your secret is safe with me."
"That's not everything. We also um... kissed" Jiro blushed fiercely as she spoke. "It was my first time."
"Hey if you're happy, I'm happy. He's a really nice guy, and I support the two of you 100%!" Sumire replied with a genuine smile.
Jiro blushed again, "It's just… I'm not sure what I should do now."
Sumire set the guitar down, "You should just do what you want to do. You can take things slow. You don't have to rush anything." She paused for a short moment, "Do what makes you happy."
"You're so wise. Are you sure you haven't dated anybody before?" Jiro joked.
"Nope, not ever. I've never kissed a boy or even held hands with one" Sumire replied with a laugh.
"Looks like I've done both of those now" Jiro laughed.
"Haha you're right" Sumire agreed. She glanced at a clock, "We should probably head down, it's almost dinner time."
They carefully put away the instruments and made their way down for dinner.
Most of the class was already there eating or getting food. Jiro glanced across the tables to see where Kaminari was sitting. Should I sit with Kaminari or Sumire and Yaomomo? Jiro thought for a moment and proceeded to grab a seat across from Sumire. I can take things slow. I don't have to rush anything.
Everyone was busy socializing and eating when Kirishima suddenly stood up on top of one of the tables. "HEY EVERYBODY QUIET!" Kirishima yelled. Immediately, everyone became silent as they stared up at him in surprise. Here goes nothing. "Sorry to interrupt everybody's meal, but I have something very important to say." He took a deep breath, "There is someone here that I have admired for a really long time. They are crazy talented and destined to be a great hero. They're brave, funny, and kind. They have an amazing, positive spirit that rubs off on everybody around them. They're hilarious and basically the queen of dance."
Toru invisibly pointed at Mina who had started to turn even pinker than she normally was.
"This girl, is someone I want to know more." Kirishima's heart pounded, "Not to mention, she's absolutely beautiful."
One word echoed in Mina's mind: beautiful… beautiful… beautiful… Her cheeks had changed from pink to red as she tried to control her swirling thoughts and emotions.
Kirishima jumped off the table and walked over to stand beside Mina. He took her hands in his, "Mina will you be my date to the party?"
Normally, if Mina had been observing a situation like this, she would have been smiling from ear to ear and cheering. However, Mina wasn't observing, she was participating. She began to internally panic, What am I supposed to do? Everyone is watching me. I didn't actually think he would ask me! And so soon! And in such a bold way! I.. I...
Kirishima squeezed Mina's hand, "It's okay" he mouthed.
Mina breathed in, That's right, I'm okay. Kirishima... I've known him since middle school. He's an amazing guy. He cares a lot about people. He cares about me. I care about him... "Yes! Of course!" she exclaimed.
Kirishima breathed a sigh of relief and hugged Mina. Everyone else cheered for the two.
As they embraced, Mina listened to Kirishima's heart beat rapidly. He was so nervous! It must have taken a lot of bravery for him to be able to do that in front of everybody. She smiled contently.
Sumire smiled at the pair, Wow. Two people have already been asked. I wonder who is going to be asked next?
After dinner everyone dispersed and headed toward their dorms or the common area to hang out. Jiro grabbed Kaminari to play guitar together in her room, while Kirishima pulled Mina outside. They sat on one of the benches. "Hey Mina" Kirishima turned towards her, "I just wanted to make sure you were actually okay with being my date. I mean, I might have pressured you by asking in front of everybody."
Mina blinked back at him for a moment, "No Kirishima. I do want to go with you to the party. If I didn't want to, I would have said no."
Kirishima breathed out a sigh of relief, the second one that day, and looked up at the star-filled sky, "Man in the past I never imagined I'd end up here."
"No way! You're really strong and super heroic too. You are definitely hero material" Mina replied.
Kirishima chuckled, "Ah… I kind of meant being here with you." He blushed and hoped the darkness had covered it. There was silence for a minute. Kirishima finally decided to turn towards Mina, "Did I sa..."
He got cut off as Mina leaned forward and kissed him directly on the lips. She instantly jumped back, "OH MY GOSH! I.. I... I'M SO SORRY KIRISHIMA... I MEANT TO GO FOR YOUR CHEEK! I… I SWEAR IT WAS AN ACCIDENT! I DIDN'T EXPECT YOU TO TURN SO SUDDENLY LIKE THAT!" Mina kept freaking out and apologizing over and over again, Oh my God. I've ruined it. He's probably so mad. I can't believe that that actually just happened.
Kirishima placed his hands on her shoulders, and she quieted down a bit. "It's okay. It was an accident. You don't need to apologize." He dropped his hands down from her shoulders to her arms, and then finally brought them to her hands. "Do you really think I would be mad because of that?" He laughed and smiled widely at her. "How could I be mad at the girl that I like because she kissed me?"
Mina looked up at him. She looked at his pointy teeth set in a pure smile and the scar over his right eyebrow. She gazed at his bright red eyes and pink lips. Her eyes glanced over every last detail of his face. Since when did he become so... dreamy?
She held one of his hands and placed her other hand in his spiky red hair. Despite its spiky look, his red hair was surprisingly puffy and soft to the touch. They both closed their eyes. She leaned forward slowly and gave him a tender kiss on the cheek. She lingered there for a moment, enjoying the closeness between them. He squeezed her hands as she did so. As she finally pulled away, he quickly moved forward and gave her a rough but loving peck on the cheek. They opened their eyes and smiled at each other. Sitting close, hand in hand, they watched the beautiful night sky as a cold evening breeze blew by. Mina shifted closer to him and rested her head on his shoulder, their shared body heat contrasting against the crisp, cool air. Despite the temperature, she didn't ask to go back inside because she didn't want the moment… their moment to end. He felt the same way and instead wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer to him.
The stars twinkled in the night sky, as clouds drifted in the wind. The moon shined down on the pair as they dozed off next to one another. As Kirishima began to doze off, one word to describe the amazing moment he had just experienced remained in his mind: beautiful... beautiful… beautiful…
And that's it for this KiriMina centered chapter. That doesn't mean there won't be more. After all, we haven't even gotten to the party yet. Leave a review or message me if you think I should give the others pairings their own focused chapters. I'm thinking of possibly merging them instead of giving each their own chapter. I enjoying writing more about the relationships that are forming! As always, I am open to tips or requests for the story, so feel free to ask!
