The new pack as been wondering for a little while, only getting closer to the settlement little by little. They were lucky to not be so hungry at the very moment, considering that they through a wasteland, deprived of any life. Lucy and Lisa had a few concerns of moving to a human civilization. Would they have to hide from the humans to resist capture? Should they have to protect Linc from any who would take him away? Such questions, Luna promised would be answered in due time. It a day and a half to reach the human town. However, by the time they arrived, they could see that the place was not exactly so welcoming. For the town was...destroyed. Broken and shattered to pieces as the wolves made their way in...
Lisa:"This is where humans live? Not exactly how I pictured it."
Lucy:"I don't think this would be considered normal. Something happened here."
Luna:"Yeah...something bad. And considering this town wasn't too far from that farm, it would explain why it was abandoned."
Linc:"Are we gonna live here, Mommy?"
Luna:"I'm not quite sure yet. Perhaps, we should look around, make sure it is safe."
Continuing forward, the pack moved between clusters of cars that littered the roads. The wind filled the air as there seemed to be nothing than birds...lots of birds with black feathers. It appeared as if this settlement was completely abandoned as well, but Luna was hoping that it would serve as a sanctuary for her pack. One could only imagine, a whole civilization to themselves. It would be lonely, but it would be home. Luna kept that in mind as her pack searched for food.
Linc:"Mommy, I found some sleeping people."
Luna:"Sleeping people?"
Seeing her son point towards the 'sleeping' people, what Luna and the other two had saw was rather horrifying. There were dozens of bodies, scattered across the ground. Some with their eyes open, lots covered in blood, all of them rotten. These people have been dead for a while. The trail of corpses did not end on this one road. It covered the entire town...
Linc:"Why are all those people sleeping, Mommy?"
Luna:"They're...they're not sleeping, my child. They're..."
Lucy:"They're all dead."
Luna:"Lucy!"
Lucy:"Someone had to say it."
Lisa:"This is...unnerving. How could this have happened?"
Luna:"I'm not sure, but..."
Heading over to one of the bodies, Luna examined it and saw something interesting. Claw marks, not from a paw of a wild animal, but of fingers from humans. There were also some weapons blunged into a few of the corpses here and there. If Luna could take a wild guess, she would say...
Luna:"These people killed each other."
Lisa:"What?"
Luna:"Yeah, it would make sense. Nothing else would make this kind of damage other than humans."
Lucy:"But what could've drove them to slaughtering one another?"
Linc:"What about that thing?"
The human boy pointed upward and the pact saw there was smoking rising up. Whatever happened here, they could assume it had something to do with that place, not too far away...
Luna:"Let's try to avoid where that smoke is coming from. Let's focus on finding shelter and food."
And with that, they left the place with all the bodies and rising smoke. Perhaps this place wouldn't be considered the best place to live in at the very moment. However, they had very little choice, as they made their way to the park and decided to rest there. They would've had a moment of peace if it weren't for their rumbling stomachs...
Luna:"Ah, dang it. We at least need something to eat."
Lucy:"Well, we are in a human settlement. There's bound to be places where food is sold."
Lisa:"I wouldn't consider eating human food do much. For I heard that it is mass produced and can make people feel rather sick."
Luna:"Lisa, don't say such things in front of Linc. He's only used to eating what we have hunted. But eventually, we're all gonna need something to eat."
Linc:"Maybe there's something in there."
Pointing to a cart, it appeared to be a hot dog vending cart, which looks it's seen better days, all dirty and crushed. The wolf sisters weren't exactly on board with the idea, but their stomachs said otherwise.
Luna:"Well, it beats starving to death."
Lucy:"Would this not be considered cannibalism?"
Lisa:"Just because it says "Hot Dog", does not mean it's made of actual dog!...I hope.,"
Luna:"We got no other choice."
With Luna tipping over the cart, a few hot dogs rolled out and stopped at the wolves feet. They took a few sniffs before having a bite. And it was safe for them to admit that it seemed edible enough. After a little while, they were well fed and now gave themselves a chance to rest. Unfortunately, their rest was cut short when they heard movement all around them...
Lucy:"Luna?"
Luna:"I heard it. It's all around us."
Lisa:"What could that be?"
Luna:"I don't know. But from what I can tell... they're animals."
Linc:"Like us?"
Luna:"...Not exactly."
Suddenly, the pack found themselves surrounded by Foxes. They were looking pretty angry, despite the fact that they weren't the ones provoked. Luna held her children close to her as the foxes looked like they were about to attack...
?:"Hold!"
It was then that the foxes backed off, making way for an even bigger fox, who Luna could assume was their leader...
?:"I am Ryker, leader of this tribe. We do not get many visitors here. You are far from home?"
Luna:"Please, sir. We mean you no harm. We only wish for some sanctuary."
Ryker:"Well, that's a first. I should just have you imprisoned for trespassing on our territory."
Luna:"No, please. We will leave if you want us too!"
Ryker:"It is too late for that."
Lisa:"Do you even know what has happened here?"
Ryker:"That is none of our concern. Take them!"
Linc:"No! You leave Mommy alone!"
The sight of Linc had made all the wolves freeze. It's almost as if they have never seen a human before. And this made the wolf pack confused...
Ryker:"A human...how can they still be alive?"
