I decided to post a day early since this chapter was ready. I originally thought this chapter would be difficult to write, but it came together nicely. I hope everyone is staying safe! Enjoy :)
Midoriya was physically shaking while standing in the courtyard. He had some chocolates and a rose with him and stood at the end of a short rose petal path lined with candles. I'm not ready. Uraraka is coming with Tsu, and I'm not ready… No, take a deep breath. Everything will be fine. Just talk to her like she's your friend. No need to freak out... Suddenly the door opened, and he screamed.
"Calm down Midoriya, it's me" Mina sighed. "I'm here to tell you that Uraraka is on her way out very soon, so pull yourself together." Mina then closed the door and left him alone again.
I need to calm down. She will be here any moment, and I am a shaking mess! He pinched himself and finally stopped shaking. The door opened once more, and this time, Uraraka stepped out.
"Uraraka!" he said with a massive grin plastered to the front of his face. Stay calm. Stay calm. Stay calm...
"This is beautiful Deku" Uraraka said as she looked around at the candles and rose petals. She walked forward until she was in front of him. Oh my God. Deku is going to ask me to the party. Don't. Freak. Out. Do not freak out.
"Ahem" he cleared his throat awkwardly. "I'm uh sure you know why you're here, but what I'm about to say might surprise you." He took a deep breath, "The truth is that I like you. I like you as more than a friend." He gulped, "In fact, I've had a crush on you since we first met. Uraraka, you are incredible, and you're beautiful. I love your drive to become a great hero, and I can't help but admire you for it. I really like you, and I hope you like me too. But if you don't, then I hope we can still be close friends." He waited in agony for her response.
Uraraka just stood there staring at him. All of a sudden she threw herself at him and kissed him. When she pulled away, he fainted and fell to the ground. "Oh my God Deku!" Uraraka quickly used her quirk on him and brought him inside.
"What happened!" Mina exclaimed when Uraraka came in with Deku.
"He fainted after I um... kissed him" Uraraka said while blushing fiercely.
Tsu looked at him, "I think he's fine ribbit." She then took a cup of water that she had and poured it on his head.
"GAH!" Midoriya yelled as he woke up.
"Are you alright Deku?" Uraraka asked.
"I think I'm fine. I was just surprised when you um..." his face turned the same bright red as Uraraka's face.
Mina smiled deviously but was pulled away by Tsu. "Awwww but I want to watch" Mina whined.
"We should give them privacy" Tsu replied.
Meanwhile, Uraraka and Midoriya were sitting next to each other in silence and avoiding eye contact. "Deku" Uraraka's voice caught his attention. "When we first met, and you saved me, I thought you were an amazing hero. When it turned out that we were in the same class, we were able to become close friends, and as time went on, my admiration for you grew. At first, I thought I just looked up to you as a friend, but I realized that that wasn't it. I looked up to you the way I did because I have feelings for you. Because you are my crush."
Midoriya smiled and placed his hand in hers, "I think I already know the answer, but do you want to be my date to the party?"
"Yes" Uraraka answered with a smile. "I guess the only girl left without a date now is Sumire. I'm pretty sure Bakugo is asking her to the party. Do you know when he's going to ask her?"
"Oh um about that" he frowned. "I don't think they'll be going to the party together."
"What why?" Uraraka asked.
"Well you see..."
Earlier that day...
Bakugo awoke with a start, Crap did I fall asleep downstairs? He looked around until his eyes settled on the sleeping figure next to him. I can't believe I fell asleep here with Sumire. I have to get out of here before someone sees me. He started to get up and head toward the stairs.
"Hey Bakugo, where are you going?" Sumire asked as she sat up on the couch.
"Isn't it obvious, I'm going upstairs." Bakugo began walking towards the stairs again.
"Without waking me?" Sumire raised her eyebrow.
"Clearly I didn't need to" Bakugo replied back.
"Hey stop walking away and answer my question" Sumire said sternly.
Bakugo ignored her and kept walking. As he placed his foot on the first step, he became blind. "Stop using your quirk on me cranky."
Sumire frowned, "No, I want you to answer my question. You can't just be rude to everyone and expect to get whatever you want."
He exhaled loudly out of his nose as he turned back towards her, "Look angry, I endured through your little watch TV and hang out thing last night. I don't feel like hanging out any longer than I need to."
"What do you mean, 'any longer than you need to?'" Sumire said with slight anger.
"I mean that I'm tired of your whining, and I want to leave" he retorted.
Sumire stood up to stand in front of him, "Whining?! I'm 'whining' because you were acting rude to me when I was just wondering why you didn't wake me up! If anything you're the one who's whining!"
He rolled his eyes, "Look unlike you, I actually have dignity to hold up. This is a complete waste of my time, so this conversation is over."
"Are you saying I have no dignity?!" she said as she raised her voice.
"I mean how could you have any when you're always flirting around with all of the guys" he scowled. "Yeah don't be surprised that I know. I see you going around talking to them all the time, and I don't want to associate myself with someone like that."
"FLIRTING AROUND! I AM NOT FLIRTING AROUND! I'M JUST TRYING TO BE NICE AND GET TO KNOW THEM, BUT I GUESS YOU WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND SINCE YOU ARE INCAPABLE OF BEING NICE!" she was absolutely furious now. "ALSO, I'M SORRY YOU'RE SO PRIDEFUL AND SELFISH THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SEEN ASSOCIATING WITH THE LIKES OF ME!" Sumire yelled at Bakugo. She pushed him out of her way and stomped over to the bathrooms.
Iida, Kaminari, Jiro, and Midoriya descended the stairs. "Hey Bakugo what's going on?" Kaminari asked.
Bakugo didn't answer and instead stormed upstairs. Kaminari began to follow after him but was stopped by Iida, "He seems angry, so it would be best to leave him alone. Besides, Midoriya said he heard some of what happened."
"I heard Kacchan arguing with Sumire. My room is right above here, so it woke me up." Midoriya frowned, "I didn't really hear what they were saying though."
"Yeah I woke up too even though I'm on the third floor, but that's because I'm a light sleeper" Kaminari yawned.
"I didn't know you were a light sleeper" Jiro commented. "Anyway, I heard the whole thing. Bakugo said some very hurtful things to her..."
"Like what?" Kaminari asked.
"That might be private..." Iida replied.
"No it's okay" Jiro reassured. "The main thing he said was that he didn't want to associate with her because she was 'flirting' around with all the guys."
"That's a foul thing to say! Kenshutsu is a very kind and friendly person" Iida commented.
"Where did she go?" Midoriya wondered.
"Upstairs?" Kaminari suggested.
"No dummy, we would have seen her when we came down" Jiro replied as she stuck one of her earphone jacks into the wall. She closed her eyes to listen and then opened them, "She's in the bathrooms. Could you guys go get Yaomomo for me?"
"You got it babe" Kaminari said with a grin. Jiro's face turned crimson red, and she stabbed him with her other earphone jack. Kaminari was holding his ear in pain as she walked to the bathrooms. "Ah that's why I love her" he sighed.
"Um let's just go get Yaoyorozu" Iida said as he turned towards the stairs.
Jiro's face returned to its normal color as she entered the bathrooms. "Sumire? It's me, Jiro." Sumire was standing next to the farthest sink crying. "What's wrong?" Jiro walked over to her friend and put an arm around her. "Hey it's okay. Tell me what's going on."
Sumire sniffled, "I'm sure you heard."
"Yeah I did, but it helps to talk things out" Jiro replied gently.
Sumire wiped away a tear, "I hate Bakugo."
Jiro let a moment of silence go by, "Hate is a strong word..."
"I know" Sumire sighed.
Momo then entered the bathrooms. "What happened?"
"Sumire and Bakugo got into an argument" Jiro replied.
"What did he say?" Momo asked. They looked at Sumire who just frowned, so Jiro whispered some of the things into Momo's ear. "That's rude, but Bakugo is kind of a rude guy..." Momo said.
"That's not what I thought" Sumire suddenly said. "I... I thought he was nice. I thought he was funny. I thought he cared. I thought we were friends… Clearly I was wrong."
"Hey friends get into arguments sometimes, and they make up afterwards. I'm sure he didn't mean what he said" Jiro said carefully.
"I... I don't hate him, but I hate myself" Sumire said sadly.
"Why do you hate yourself?" Momo asked.
"Because I yelled at him, and I said mean things to him, and I... I..." they waited for her to continue. "I... I started getting feelings for him and fooled myself into thinking he had feelings for me too" she said as a tear rolled down her cheek.
The other two girls hugged her, and Jiro gave her a tissue, "Well if he doesn't have feelings for you, or even if he doesn't see you as a friend, then he is a jerk and an idiot because you are an amazing person."
"Yeah Sumire, you are incredibly kind and just a wonderful person to be around. If he doesn't want to be friends with you, then he is missing out" Momo agreed.
"Do you guys really think that?" Sumire asked.
"Of course we do!" Momo exclaimed.
"Yeah, that's why we are your friends. If we didn't like you, then we wouldn't be here supporting you" Jiro added.
"Thanks guys, that really means a lot" Sumire smiled.
"Why don't we get washed up and ready for school?" Momo suggested.
"Who cares about him anyway" Jiro commented.
Sumire turned the sink on and began washing her face. The problem is that I do still care about him. I still like him… He's still my crush. Her mind wandered back to every time she spent talking and hanging out with him. She remembered when they first met. She remembered when she passed out after training with him and later found out that he had gently carried her back to Recovery Girl's office to recover. She recalled how she invited him to Momo's first study session, and he actually showed up. She smiled sadly at the memories of them studying alone together after those study sessions. The memories of Bakugo joking around and having fun with her were now clouded by their recent argument. Was it all a lie?
Uh oh... Looks like Bakugo and Sumire are not going to the party together. Next chapter will be about party preparations. The chapter after that will be the actual party! If you want me to showcase one of the pairs, then let me know. I am open to adding your suggestions into the story! Also I may post the next chapter even earlier than Sunday if you guys want. Always feel free to message me or leave a review!
