It all started with a book, or rather a collection of them. They were not exactly his - it's more of a shared possession between him and his siblings. He remembers hearing his mother and aunt talking about the set, "I got them from one of those travelling salesmen." his mother would take a sip from her cup, "He was only planning on selling them per piece but he cut me a good deal when i made him realize that the value lessens if it's not a complete set" his aunt would just smile and agree with his mother. His aunt responded saying that the books might get them from relying too much on television. He remembers the books being placed on the lowest shelf in the bookcase by the family room. Each were quite white and thin - with a large colored photo on it's cover.
The first of the set he picked out has this big green and blue ball - it read Planet Earth. He opened it and he was greeted with a photo that almost spanned two pages. A big yellow ball surrounded by nine rings, with each it's considerably smaller ball. The third ball from the big yellow one looks a lot like the one in the book's cover. Around the big figure were boxes of text and at the middle, in big bold letters reads The Solar System. He read the passages around and he learned that the big yellow ball was called the sun - the bright object in the sky that his mother forbade him to stare at - actually had another name, Sol. Why an object in the sky needs two names, one being this "scientific" whatever that meant, he didn't know.
From the passages on the side, he read that these balls around the sun were called planets. They were apparently named after Legends strung by Ancient Civilizations - which later historians dubbed as Legendary Pokemon. He knew about Pokemon - what kid doesn't? - but he only heard about Legendary ones from his classmate in school. His classmate brought with him a small wooden statue of an Ekans-like creature with indentations that resembled lines. He asked what it was and his classmate said that from where he was (someplace in Hoenn, he recalled) people worship the Legendary Pokemon as their savior.
When he got home that night he asked his mother about these Legendary Pokemon. She answered with a small frown on her face, "Those are not real, only people who are scared of the world around them believe in those creatures.". He did not understand why only scared people believe and he wanted to press further but the look on his mother's face says that talk time is over.
The smallest ball - planet, he corrected himself - was named Latis. It was also the nearest one to the sun. It was gray - almost white and he read it moves the fastest. He didn't know these planets move and he just thought that like his toys they run on battery.
The second one was pink - not the kind of pink he sees on his sister's dresses or notebooks - and it was called Crest. He liked the color of this planet, it's pink but not too pink. It's bright yet it looks dull. Staring at it a bit more, he went to the third one. The one on the cover, Earth he read. Where apparently they all live. What a boring sight it made. He has always been the assumption that the world is endless - full of countless adventures as described in his grandfather's books! This small ball is not even the biggest! Annoyed, he went to the fourth one, a red planet. It was named Hou. It was followed by a bigger red-orange one. Considerably bigger, even more so than the Earth!. It's name Grado left a weird taste on his mouth. He didn't like the name at all. Regis followed, a light-gray almost white planet with three wide rings around it - although he read that an astronomer from Galar discovered another set of two rings that weren't seen by less powerful telescopes. The next two are blue. The nearer one was called Luo and it has a less intense color than the other one, Kiyo. He noted that the blue of Kiyo is eerily similar to the same blue that water is colored in the cartoons he watch. The last was named Ivelt, almost black and so far from everyone else. He could almost feel how lonely it must be to be the furthest one.
\\
By the time he was fully conscious about the world around him, his sister Janice (being six years older than him) was already given a Pokemon Egg to care for. It was a small tradition in their family to receive an egg on your twelfth birthday - usually given to by your uncle or aunt. With their family (at least in their mother's side) being primarily fire type breeders, she was given a reddish orange egg by their aunt. "That egg was refused by the parent's trainer, she said that she doesn't need any more pets." she said as she was handing the glass incubator to Janice. It usually takes three weeks to a month for an egg to hatch but Janice's only took a few days. They were having their dinner when the egg started glowing and moving from inside the incubator. His sister usually place the egg right next to her on an empty chair during their meals. She yelped and hurried to remove the egg from inside. Their mother advised her to move towards the family room where there are more cushions and less pronounced items scattered around. A more comfortable looking room helps in the bonding process she would say. Janice ran while he and his parents slowly followed. They didn't fully enter the room, providing her with the much needed space - they wouldn't want the Pokemon to latch towards the wrong human, right? As time passes, he could see that his sister was beside herself in excitement.
A soft coo can be heard from the egg, followed by a small break at the top. A small tuft of curly hair can be seen and a small snout broke the sides. It had a black nose with reddish (maroon?) fur. The egg toppled to the side and four legs came out. The creature shook the remaining shells off it's body by shaking. A single tail can be seen - and his sister was squealing in joy. "A Vulpix!" she shouted, elated while she went closer to the creature. The Vulpix looked startled by her loud voice but when it saw his sister, it wobbled shakily towards her lap, curled up and slept. It was so adorable. For the first time, he felt jealousy.
His sister and her Vulpix, Plush were inseparable from the very beginning. Plush, who he later learned was actually female from his mother, apparently thought of Janice as her mother. His mother explained that new born Pokemon treat the first thing they see as their mother. He was also told that they usually mirror their mother's habits. He laughed at that, knowing that most of the time he would see Plush admiring herself from the mirror in their living room, or from her water bowl. His sister was very much like that, always fussing over how her hair looked or something.
He was a lot more involved in Plush's care than he expected. Just because his school starts later than his sister, he was asked by Janice to accompany Plush on her morning walk. He didn't especially mind the request - in fact he rather enjoyed it. Playing and watching with Plush around their backyard was actually the highlight of his every morning. Technically, Plush doesn't need supervision or anything of the sort but his sister was very particular about her (Plush) being comfortable every time Janice isn't home. He really does dream of having his own Vulpix to care for in the future.
\\
If there was one thing that creeped him out it would be Karrablast - which translated into almost all similar Bug type Pokemon. His sister told him that one of their caretakers once placed a wild Karrablast under his shirt while he was sleeping and that the resulting clicking sounds made by the wild Pokemon spooked him awake. He however, was exceptionally fond of observing Combee nests. In the woods within their ranch there was a colony of Combee that have a really weird sleeping pattern, instead of being diurnal (which is the norm, in almost all observed colonies) they would huddle around to sleep in the morning. He knew from one of the white books that a colony of Combee would sleep by forming a big comb-like structure around their Vespiquen. He knew better than to step closer to the colony, but he can't help but sit down and marvel at the complexity of the design of the formed colony. It started from a big and thick base from the bottom of the tree that it was based on, and it (they) followed the branches of the tree, as if forming another tree made of Combee.
He would try to return almost every single time he is able to. He could sometimes see and hear Combee coming from behind him but they would almost always pay him no mind. Combee by nature are mostly very submissive to their Vespiquen, living just to serve the whims of their queen, thus they tend to be very docile and only get aggressive only when the queen wills it so. The more carefree ones on the other hand would sometimes even fly towards the boy, flying around him as if daring him to catch them. They would even spit out this yellow liquid to him, with him being a kid he would give it a small lick. He was really happy when a sweet taste would assault his tongue. He developed a real taste for wild honey.
They have a large estate, one that spans through their ranch and their house since their parents wanted to live near where they work so they can always be on top of every situation. Yet, he didn't understand why their parents would often have to leave him and his sister with caretakers or other family members. He tried asking why once and all they said was that "Results can only be verified when seen firsthand son!". He didn't understand so he just let it go.
He would also try helping out at the ranch by trying to carry the Pokemon Food towards the feeding shed. The ranch hands and their respective helper Pokemon would just laugh at the small kid trying to pull a large sack of food yet they would never discourage him though lest they feel the wrath of that monstrous Delphox behind him. That Delphox, named Fifi was the first Pokemon of his mother, and was the cornerstone of her team that led her to winning the Ever Grande Conference in the Hoenn Region. Fifi was also there when he was born and took to him as if he was her own. So whenever he steps foot into the ranch Fifi would always be by his side, staring down any would be threat from going near. He was oblivious to it though as to him Fifi was the fun one (in contrast to his mother), he would always ask Fifi to use her "magic" on him so he could fly around like when he was little(r) but ever since they both got reprimanded by his mother, Fifi would just shake her head at him.
The ranch hands would always try to make him forget from carrying the sack by leading him into the Growlithe fence, a special part of their ranch where the Arcanine family reside. He was told by his father that the Arcanine family is one of the most sought out Pokemon since they make excellent guards, pets, battlers and hunters. They breed very quickly and their aggression is genetic. His dad added that most of the requests made to their farm was Growlithe eggs, so much so that even their local and national law enforcement request new batches almost every month. From one of the stories told to him by the ranch hands, his father's Arcanine, Pele was on the same level with the Kanto gym leaders' Blue and Blaine's Arcanine. He would always get piled on by the pups whenever he goes through the gate. Pele would also come out from his shed and pounce on to him. It seems that the pups take too much from their father.
\\
When he was seven his family went to Undella Town in Unova for vacation. It was his first time flying via plane and his brother, Coby was assigned to watch over him when their parents are preoccupied. He rarely get to see his brother often, with them having a large gap between their ages and that he spends most of the year in University studying medicine. When they landed in Castelia International Airport there was already a service car waiting for them by the gate. They drove through Skyarrow Bridge and he marveled at it's sheer size. He could also make out large white birds flying overhead, with their feathers falling down like leaves in the autumn. He fell asleep from the lulling view of the falling leaves and he woke up only a few hours later from a nudge by his sister. They had already reached the Striatlon City docks and they are to take a boat towards Undella.
During the boat ride he was trying to keep his stomach in check by staring at the wide open seas and the eventual Pokemon that would break the surface. Below he could even make out a pair of blue and pink blobs - at which point Coby pulled him further inside the boat. "Those are Jellicent" he said " They are very dangerous creatures, they would grab unsuspecting passengers from boats and drag them down to the very depths." He didn't know if his brother was joking but he would not take the chance.
The view of Undella makes a very picturesque view; from the rolling and frothing sprays of water against the high cliffs to the gentle lapping of the waves to the golden-white sands of the bay. It looked very much of a resort that it promised to be.
\\
For the next few days they had numerous tours all around Unova. The most exciting one so far was a guided tour of the safer parts of Chargestone Cave. They took a very short plane ride from Lentimas Town to Mistralton City, and from there a short drive to the cave. From entering he could feel his hair rising towards the ceiling, and he could even see rocks floating all around the cave. Janice and Plush were both not enjoying the tour, they were fussing too much on brushing (in Plush's case licking) the rising hair down. He felt bad for them missing the wonderful light shows made by the mirror like walls of the cave and even the occasional moving and floating rocks. He heard the guide ramble on and on about "E" and "B" which he ignored, I mean what do letters have to do about the floating rocks?
Another interesting place they visited was Black City. It was this bustling metropolis that was surprisingly very clean for it's size. Even with the tall skyscrapers, the forest around it still covered the entire city in it's shadow. He learned that the forest surrounding the city was called White Forest (which he realized, was very obvious because almost all trees were white) and that it houses the tallest specie of trees. He preferred this city over Castelia because even with its sheer size and activity it didn't feel congested or dirty. It felt fresh.
One of the buildings that stand out in the city was Unova's Pokemon Tower. This battle facility was recently made famous because of the positive reviews about the Battle Frontier in Hoenn and Sinnoh, and it was the place where trainers of the same rank test their mettle against the other. The matches inside were very intense - yet they were quick. He was really disappointed when some battles end with one of the trainers giving up halfway or even just suddenly leaving.
And they also went to some "mysterious" places, two of which were the Dreamyard in Striatlon and Lostlorn Forest near Nimbasa. They weren't that much different to the other - they were similarly misty and the trees were thick. While the Dreamyard was a lot more urbanized than Lostlorn it still doesn't diminish the otherworldly vibe given off.
The place that his parents were actively interested in was the Desert Resort. From one their private walks around Undella Bay they overheard some rumours of statues in then desert turning into Darmanitan. Being experts in the field of Fire-type Pokemon they knew that this was the hidden ability of Darmanitan. Hidden abilities rarely manifest in the wild, but they are easily reproducible by breeding. They were interested in catching one, or if the fates permit, a breeding pair. They asked their guide about it while they were strolling around Icirrus City. The guide confirmed the rumours but told them that the Pokemon were very picky. "In the desert were the statues lie, you would need to present an offering of sorts." he said "It depends on their mood if they want to accept your offering, some people offered them sand while some even offered gold to no avail." Intrigued, his parents arranged for a trip to Desert Resort.
It was not unusual for civilians to employ trainers and even the occasional Ranger to help them traverse a specific area. Since the Desert Resort isn't that dangerous - it actually was a very known tourist spot, even more so now that settlements began to pop up in Route 4 - his dad only arranged for a single trainer with ACE status to accompany them. Janice was very adamant to stay in Undella since she didn't want sand to go "everywhere" and that she would rather hang out in the beach where the sand is a lot more fine. Coby also jumped in saying he would rather spend his last days of vacation alone.
With his siblings not wanting to go, he was very disappointed, thinking that his parents would leave him with his siblings. He was pleasantly surprised when he was asked if he wanted to go. He happily agreed to go.
\\
He was greatly disappointed with what he saw. His parents gave him a set of Go-Goggles to wear and told him to expect a lot of sand - he didn't realize that what they meant was literally a lot of sand, so much so that it seemed to engulf his whole vision. He honestly expected a beach-like environment but the Desert Resort was so dry and lifeless. "Even the wind is sandy!" he grouched to his father who just laughed at his misfortune. The heat was another thing altogether, it was overwhelming so much so that he wanted to remove the coat like article that he was strictly ordered to not to take off because of "safety" reasons. The ACE trainer coming with them, Mark was talking with their guide about emergency procedures. He brought along two Psychic type Pokemon strong enough to teleport their whole group to the Cornyx Pokemon Center, where they all met a while ago.
They all rode in a large jeep with their guide driving, and his father staying at the passenger's seat in front. His mother was seating with him in the back seat, making sure he knew to stay close with her or his father the whole time they will be in the site. He was trying to listen, honestly, but he was too engrossed in trying to look for signs of Pokemon in the sand with Mark doing the same at the back albeit for different reasons. Mark requested to stay at the trunk portion to have a better vantage over their surroundings making sure no signs of danger were missed. As they went deeper into the desert the wind started to pick up and his mother's instructions were getting harder to hear. His attention was grabbed by the ocassional brown snout that poke out from the sandy surface. He didn't know what Pokemon those were but he did recognize some Trapinch that scurry away from their vehicle. He could even see on the horizon shiny glimmers of steel on the sky.
They passed by a large mound of sand with small glinting insectoids were seen walking towards it in a long line. "It's a Durant colony" their guide answering his father's question about the insects "they naturally make their colonies along mountain ranges but somehow this colony established one in the desert. They are not dangerous, they are actually pretty docile since they don't have Heatmor terrorizing them here." They passed by a few more dunes (a word his mother just taught him when he called them hills) and in one of the flatter ones there were a group of Baltoy spinning on their feet and even their head. Among them were A few dozen Claydol who at first glance looked a lot more like statues since they were not moving.
It took them fifteen minutes to reach their destination. The statues were a lot smaller and less grander than he had anticipated. They were semi-submerged in the sand with most of them were at a random angle. There were hundreds and they surround a ruin of sorts, complete with half broken pillars and a surprisingly intact entrance. Their guide answered the question in their mind "That's the Relic Castle. It was once the center of culture and a place of worship of Ancient Unova. Time has not fared it well." he said with a shake of his head. "Most of what remains inside are intact and preserved by the Unovan Leauge. Although I personally think it's pointless since there is nothing of note inside. Thieves have run amok inside for hundreds of years and only the paintings inside survived."
His father was too busy rummaging through his bag to listen to the guide. He was bringing out a big container of Spelon Poffins. The couple prepared it the night before since basing from their experience they knew that Fire types in general prefer their food spicy and dry. He was sure that the first statue they will offer it to will be accept their offering but with the large amount of statues all around them he was confident that at least two will react.

Cara Lakme has good memories associated to deserts. In her younger years she met the Legendary Tapu Bulu when she got lost in the labyrinthian maze of the Haina Desert in Alola. She also typically searches for rarer fire types in deserts, and in one of those searches her now husband Jacob. She was looking for a Slugma in Route 13 of the Kalos Region and later she learned that Jacob was looking for the elusive Gible who were rumored to sometimes show up in the area. It was when she saw a Slugma trudging along one of the rocky part of the desert that she saw from above a figure that seems to peer all around the desert. When their eyes met it was as if an unspoken challenge was issued between them. Their battle all around the regions ended in the semifinals of the Lily of the Valley Conference in the Sinnoh Region a few years later. When their battle ended in a tie between their respective oldest partners they both realized that not a single shred of defeat or annoyance was felt between them. And after nineteen years with three kids and their own ranch to manage they could both say that their rivalry has ended.
It was Jacob's idea to bring their youngest along in their trip to the Desert Resort - Cara was pretty much all against it. She didn't feel comfortable bringing their seven-year old into a sort of mini-expedition, in the desert no less. Sensing the argument about to take place, Jacob assured his wife that with their combined team with an additional Ace Trainer will be more than enough for a very short expedition to the desert. She relented but she was clearly not happy.
Fast forward in to the their trip, Cara couldn't help but be amused at every expression on her son's face. She was really enjoying the enthusiasm her son is showing, from the way he tugs on her arm to ask a question to the squeal of joy and pointing to the different statues around them. A part of her felt guilty knowing that he spends most of the time with one of the caretakers and partly why he was acting very enthusiastic was that he rarely gets to see and talk to her. As she went to the opposing direction that Jacob went she felt her son take her hand as they trudged along the sand.
They reached a small clearing where a set of statues were scattered randomly, some even in angled positions, partly buried in the sand. Cara approached the nearest one and as she knelt down to offer the poffin she could feel her son's bated breath. She left Fifi with her son a few meters away from the clearing so as to avoid anything to happen to him. After a few minutes of waiting for a reaction she gave up and went towards the next one. It was only after minutes later after her seventh attempt that she saw a small twitch in one of the fingers of the statue that she was currently offering to.
By the time the statue's arms were extending to grab the box in front of it, she has already unclipped one of the Pokeballs on her waist and was ready to release the Pokemon inside. The other arm started to elongate and grow thicker as it thrust it's large palm downwards to the sand, throwing a small cloud of sand up. She knew a small shove from one of those arms is enough to crush the jeep they rode on so she brought out her Pokemon. The Darmanitan at this point has finally grew to it's normal size, it didn't look aggressive but the bright light in front of it was enough to excite it. When the light died down it revealed a black and purple lizard with a long tail and a weirdly feminine structure. The lizard had a purple stomach and she gave a small hiss as she saw the Darmanitan banging it's hands to the sand, ready for a fight.
A voice cut the tension between the two creatures. "Lizzie, we need to capture it, use Toxic." The Salazzle was happy to be using one of her favorite moves so early in the battle. Normally her trainer wasn't too keen on using her wonderful secretions since they get so corrosive to melt even steel but this might be a special day. Was she trying to impress someone again?
The Salazzle was cut off her reverie when the Darmanitan charged forwards, flames engulfing it's whole form. She was unperturbed and kept still. When the hulking ape was a few paces before her she spewed out a large ball of black hissing sludge. The Darmanitan was stopped from it's track by the sheer pain the poison inflicted on it's body. It felt like the skin was melting of it's body. Lizzie didn't stop there, she moved forward on all fours as she maneuvered her body to go underneath the writhing primate and she spewed out a cloud of acid. The poison from the cloud was considerably weaker than the one she spewed out earlier but since she targeted the vulnerable underbelly, the Darmanitan was almost catatonic in pain.
Cara feeling sympathetic over the fate of the creature instructed her Pokemon to finish it. "Lizzie use Heat Wave."
The Salazzle who was now in front of the wailing Darmanitan sent out a concentrated amount of heat towards the Pokemon. Cara knew it will affect the Darmanitan too much but she had other ideas. The Heat Wave vaporized the acid on the body of the Darmanitan. Normally Fire types would have a great resistance to heat but given a high enough temperature, those enough to even vaporize water would surely be felt by even the most trained fire types.
The Darmanitan fainted from the pain, and Lizzie was disappointed. She rarely gets to battle anymore since her trainer retired from the circuit but she would still battle with her old teammates sometimes. Feeling a little bit satisfied was enough for her. Cara then threw a pink colored ball to the downed creature as she looked towards her poisonous lizard. She remembers when she was a teenager and travelling through Alola and meeting a mischievous little Salandit who would take her food every time she would look away. Fifi and Lizzie were quite the rivals back in the day even to the point that she could barely control their fights, but she was happy that they were mellowed out by now. Time does that to you.
"Thanks Lizzie, do you want to go back to your ball?" She directed her question to her Pokemon. Lizzie seemed to consider it but feeling the sand on her legs, she huffed in agreement. Cara nodded as she took her ball, "Okay, return and rest." A red light came from the ball and enveloped the lizard. Care then looked to the ground and she picked the pink ball that contains the Darmanitan. She looked back at her son and started and she couldn't help but feel smug at the adoring look her son gave her. Yes, life was good for Cara Lakme.
\\
They were going back to the jeep when they saw Jacob coming towards them. He was holding on to two normal Pokeballs. "Hey, I got two. I think they were mates since they woke up together. What's up with you buddy ?" he asked, motioning to their son who was still animatedly talking to his mom, asking about hissing liquids and cool lizards. Cara just chuckled at their son's expressions as she told her husband of the small battle he missed.
"You should've seen it dad! Lizzie was like *blegh* and the big monkey was like *waaaah* and *wooosh* and then mom went *Finish it* and then - " he was cut off by a small hearty laugh from his dad as he gave him a pat on his head. "I know son, your mother is amazing! Why did you think I married her?" He gave a wink to his wife who was amused by the whole thing. Jacob looked back at his son. "Hey buddy what do you say about exploring the ruins? The guide says it's safe and empty but it will be an adventure, what do you say?" His son's beaming smile was all the answer he needs.
\\
The small group made good time as they explored Relic Castle. Their guide was surprisingly well versed into the history of the place.
"This room was where the first depictions of the calamity brought by the explosion of Stark Mountain in Sinnoh. While there were no damage dealt to Unova by the eruption, the ash covered the sky for a year. Crops didn't grow and the rain was tinged black with ash. It was literally a dark age in Unova's history." He motioned to the paintings on the wall. It was a picture of sadness, crops were wilting, rain puddles were hissing. The clouds were painted a dark black.
In the next room, a painting of a big sun was in the middle wall. "A Pokemon took pity on the people of Unova and it answered the wish of the country. It was said to come down from the sky, right at this very point. It shone bright enough like another sun as it burned away the ash in the air." Their guide was pointing to a picture of people bowing to the second sun. "The Unovans worshipped the Pokemon as a deity and they erected this structure in commemoration of it. They never did see what it was yet no move was made to investigate it."
The child was amazed, he didn't know that stars can be made by Pokemon. He walked closer to inspect the large sun painting and he placed his hand to caress it. He was surprised when his hand went through.
"Mom? Dad? My hand went inside the painting!"
Cara and Jacob were already hurrying towards their son when they first hear his shout. They saw that their son was playing with the almost illusion-like wall. Their guide and Mark the ACE was also hurrying towards the boy.
Jacob pulled his son to a hug when they reached him. "Are you okay? Does your arm hurt?" Cara was frantically looking over the arm of his son that went through the wall. The boy just laughed at his mother's questions. "I'm okay mom, don't be silly!"
Mark and the guide went to investigate the wall. When they touched it their arms didn't pass through like the kid's. They felt all of the wall but to no avail. Maybe they were just seeing things? The guide said so to Jacob, but the kid hearing this was miffed. "I didn't lie! My arms did, look!" he said as he pushed his arms towards the wall. His wand through further this time, but he felt a warm object on his palm. Feeling curious, he brought his other arm forwards as he grabbed the object the felt. It happened so quick that his parents' warnings have yet to leave their mouths.
It was a white egg. Almost the size of the kid's arms. And when he realized what it was he couldn't even voice his surprise. All the adults just looked at the scene in wonder. How could an egg just be behind that unimaginable wall?
\\
Cara Lakme just gave another sigh of frustration. Ever since their trip to Unova a month back her seven year old son has yet to let go of the Pokemon egg. Even when confronted by the Unovan League and even by the famous Professor Cedric Juniper her son was steadfast into not letting other people from touching the egg. When one of the League trainers got too handsy with the egg his palms felt very hot and burnt. It wasn't serious but after that incident the league gave up. Their son did promise (after she threatened him with grounding of more than three months) that he would inform the Professor when the egg hatches.
She passed by her son's room and she was really surprised at the amount of dedication that her son gave towards the egg. She saw the small bundle of thick blankets right by the upper right side of his bed that he has converted into a rudimentary nest. She remembers him reading a lot of books dedicated on just the care of Pokemon eggs that were in their library which she is completely sure that the more complicated theories and concepts completely pass by his mind. She was honestly surprised that even with limited understanding he was able to jerry-build a structure that was able to keep the egg warm.
She gave a sigh when she saw the glass incubator by his desk. They gave it to him hoping that he will let go off the egg for once. They keep trying to tell him that eggs are very fragile and they need constant warmth to be able to develop properly. He would just respond by holding the egg nearer to his chest and stating that he will just keep the egg in his arms the whole time. Cara just wishes that the egg will hatch before his school starts in the fall since she doesn't know how her son will react to living the egg out of his sight while he will be in school.
She walked out into their ranch and she spotted the small body of her son seated on top of one of the rocks near the edges of the woods. As she went nearer she couldn't help but overhear his one-sided conversation with the small bundle in his arms.
".. So after that Fifi made me fly again just to reach the singe on the ceiling so i can wipe it off before mom sees it. I swear that fox gets so scared of mum so much, but I wouldn't blame her, mum gets really shout-y when she's mad. Oh oh there's also this one time where ..."
Cara just smiled at the cute scene in front of her. She was glad that her son was mature enough to take care of such a big responsibility but at the same time stay as her cute little boy. She turned around to get back into the house when she heard a small yelp of surprise coming from her son.
She was already running towards her son expecting the worst when she realized that the bundle her son was holding was lighting up. Her son saw her and was motioning towards the bundle, excited. "Look mum, the egg is finally hatching!" He could barely hold hid excitement which was mirrored on his mom's face. A Pokemon egg that mysteriously appeared in an abandoned temple must be important, right?
Cara upon reaching her son decided to stand back a few steps away from him. She knows that she shouldn't take the chance for the newborn creature to set it's eyes on her and imprint. That would be very unfair for her son.
The first cracks started to appear as the light died down. Small red like protrusions came from the egg. And a brown thorax like body broke out. Followed by small feet. Her son placed the egg on the rock where he was sitting on and he squatted as if to take a closer look to the egg.
The feet took hold on the rock and it seemed to shake the rest of the shells of it's body. With the shells all gone they were finally able to see the creature clearly.
It had a white fuzzy hair that seemed to encompass it's head, with even a small fuzz that seemed to shadow it's face. It had a brown body reminiscent of the bug-types. It had five, red whorled horn like appendages sprouting from its head through the white mane-like hair.
The creature opened it's strikingly blue eyes and it gazed upon a small boy. It felt a weird connection towards the boy, as if the boy was always there. They both held the gaze for a while, until the boy was shook from his reverie as he smiled at the bug type.
"Hi, my name is Von. You'll be safe with me."

[Chapter End]
