Chapter 4
The headmaster revealed at the Sorting that Severus Snape had left for health reasons, the cheering from three of the four houses was cut sort as Dumbledore then introduced the fourteen-year-old Alan Snape; a transfer from Blackfriars. At this the Slytherins sniggered and not quietly at that.
Harry turned to Hermione, "This Blackfriars place must be bad?"
"They have the worst grades in Britain and the school is ranked 116th overall. So, it's in the top ten worst schools in Europe. "
"Poor kid." Both Harry and Hermione turned to Ron, astounded that he had spoken without his mouth full and to show pity for a Snape.
"Ron? Are you okay?" Hermione gently touched his forehead, "No, no fever." Ron shooed her hand away. He had mumbled stop it, but no one heard as Alan was being sorted after all the first years.
"Snape, Alan." Professor McGonagall's stern voice came over the hall, obviously making sure that everyone was aware of the oddity of this event. A boy who looked stunningly like a younger healthier Severus Snape, sat reluctantly on the stool when the sorting hat was placed on his head by the deputy headmistress. It did not shout Slytherin as most had been anticipating. Just as it had for various hat-stands over the years, the sorting hat seemed to be arguing with itself and its temporary wearer. After a random groan of defeat, Snape was put into Gryffindor.
The Slytherins groaned, the Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws applauded politely and the Gryffindors were silent; they had A. Snape in their house.
Once the shock had faded, Dumbledore mentioned that due to a lack of potential potions professors, the other teaching staff would be sharing the role for the time being. No one noticed the pink woman who had the audacity to interrupt the headmaster forcing him to introduce the years defence against the dark arts professor. Delores Umbridge.
