Shane POV

my mom has been driving for hours. i just want to go home and be with Mitchie! is that too much to ask?

"hey mom?"

"what honey?"

"why do we have to go camping? Nate hates the outdoors."

"because it will be a great bonding experience." she has a smug smile on her face. like she was enjoying a private joke. i pull out my Nintendo Switch Light. i pop minecraft into the game slot. i connect to the hotspot, and check if Mitchie is online. she's not, so i put it away. i pull out my guitar and practise the song i'm writing for Mitchie. it's called "gotta find you" Nate thinks it's amazing, so does Jason. i am hoping it's good enough to win Mitchie's heart.

"we're here!" my mom sings.

"how can you tell? we are in the middle of nowhere." i quip.

"Shane Dawson Grey! i expect you to drop your attitude at the door."

"expect all you want ma, but i'm still a teenager. also why is my middle name Dawson?"

"ha ha ha" mom says sarcastically. i grin.

"i'm joking ma. you know i love you. even though i want to throttle you for bringing me to the middle of nowhere."

"i have pepper spray and a taser. stay back."

"ok." i say. i use the universal sign for 'i surrender'

"hey mom. there's another car in the driveway." Nate says.

"i wonder who that could be." she says. i can tell she is lying. then i see who gets out of the car. its Mitchie! she is wearing the blue tank top i bought her

"mom? was this whole thing a set up?"

"what? no! i had no idea Connie and Mitchie were coming here."

"then how did you know it was just Connie and Mitchie. most people would assume that Mitchies father would be there."

"i have no clue what you are talking about." she whines. i roll my eyes. i kick open the car door and get out to greet Mitchie.

Mitchie POV

"Mitchie" someone yells. it sounds familiar, but it can't be who i think it is. i turn around, and Shane is running up to me wearing a grey T-shirt and bermudas. along with his black flip flops.

"Shane!" i yell

"What are you doing here Mitch?

"this is our cabin in the woods." i inform him.

"i detect a set up." he says.

"me too, but at least we get to spend more time together."

"true." he pulls me into a bear hug. my mom and Shanes mom are already talking.

"hey Mitch." Nate says.

"hey Nate. you talk to Dana recently?"

"eh a little bit."

"this summer's gonna rock!" Jason yells. i laugh.

"yeah it will." i say.
