Keep your friends close,
But your enemies closer.
What?!
Moral:
Replace your eyes with your enemy's.
No *sigh* not like that.

~Three months after last chapter~
Naruto still had anbu work. Even though he was in the academy. And he finally had started to make friends. Danzō was getting increasingly bad at making excuses. You can only take vacations and get the plague every so often.

New legends had spread around about Inari-sama. "He's apparently become one of the seven ninja swordsman of the mist!"
"But Isn't he from the leaf?"
"Nevermind, forget the formalities, he's sooooo cool."

Not only was Naruto feared by evildoers and crooks alike, he was cherished by the citizens of the nation, especially the leaf. A simple gossip story evolved into an urban legend shared by everyone: "Don't mess with the foxes." That was the main takeaway.

It felt weird being half-famous. Naruto couldn't take any recognition for the deity, but he had to constantly hear about it from his friends. At least it gave them something to talk about. Naruto was dragged back into the world by Shisui talking over the radio.

"Inari-sama come in. Target's on the move." Naruto nodded and crouched on the branch. This was an escort mission for a political official who had been the target of several people's ire. It was unknown who or what the group was exactly, but they were upset with the man. He was going to create stricter regulations regarding the hiring of mercenaries. He would make a sort of mercenaries guild that only accepted reputable, trustworthy soldiers. The group must've been some rogue terrorist organization that was being hired by some of the five great nations. Whatever the case, chinmoku was to tail the man and intervene if there was any scuffle. If nothing else, Naruto could Kamui the man and he would be safe.

The four had been traveling for a while now. They were on their way to the hidden sand village from the land of tea.

They were traveling by boat and once the reached port, it wouldn't take long to reach Suna. The rather smooth trip was interrupted by a voice that made Kuramas fur stand up, "Hello Inari-sama, or should I say Naruto Uzumaki?" The three anbu turned to see a swirly masked man standing before them wearing a black and red clouded cloak. "And if it isn't the clan killers themselves," the swirl taunted, "initially I was quite disappointed that you killed our relatives without me," the man paused before laughing evilly, "but then I realized it was just a free source of eyes, including Fugakus mangekyō."

The two Uchiha, who had began charging at the man, stopped dead when they heard Itachis father mentioned.

"Leave. Now." Itachi ordered.

"If you insist. But first I must take care of my target. Remember this name: Madara Uchiha." Naruto noticed that the now named Madara was using Kamui, or something like it. He began to go up in a swirl. He thought about using his own Kamui to cancel out Madara, but he didn't even know if that would work. Naruto knew that if this man could just appear out of thin air, there was nothing that the three of them could do to stop him. They all surrounded the client, but Madara appeared laying on the ground below them. Itachi swing his blade at Madara, only for the blade to go right through him and get stuck in the floorboards. Madara sprung up, swiped up the client and began to swirl back out. Naruto quickly activated his fūinnome.

"Remember my name." Madara remarked as he disappeared into another dimension. Naruto was almost immediately on the ground writhing in pain. Because he had copied so many mangekyō, it wouldn't take as long for his body to adjust and add the new abilities. Nature transformations like wood style took the least time, only about an hour, and Naruto could still communicate with people during that. Dōjutsu like the Sharingan usually took about a day, but because of Naruto's extensive experiences with the Sharingan, it would most likely only take 3 or 4 hours. Before he lost complete control over his body, he mumbled through a clenched jaw, "We'll be ready next time." Naruto only wished that he had instead used his fūinnome to glean any information from the man. But with how Kamui works, he didn't know if he would be able to scan the mans mind for long enough.

Chinmoku returned from their mission to report the failure. This looked incredibly bad for the shinobi of the leaf and shinobi in general. A man was making a competing guild and he was being escorted by the competitors only to be killed and the suspect was never found. Interesting. However when the three went to report to Danzō, he greeted them saying, "Congratulations on a successful mission, gentleman," getting a confused glare from the three. He paused and smiled before continuing, "You were merely guarding a decoy. The real diplomat was riding in another boat, hidden amongst the passengers. You were there to draw out any attention and keep it away from the real client." The boys sighed in relief as Danzō showed them a scroll stating that the client sent to Danzō shortly after he arrived in Suna. The three were dismissed and had the rest of the day to themselves. Naruto thought it would be a good idea to practice with Nuibari and using chakra threads to control her, when he ran into into Kakashi.

"Ouch!" He yelped as he felt Naruto run directly into him. Neither had been paying attention and collided in the middle of the street. Seeing Kakashi had reminded him, "Kakashi, I think we need to talk. Privately." Naruto said cryptically, getting a confused and slightly worried look from Kakashi, "Follow me."

"So you think Obito is still alive?" Kakashi questioned.

Naruto nodded in response, "It's certainly possible," he paused, "but it could just be someone who somehow stole his eye. Hell, it could even be Fugakus." Kakashi raised an eyebrow at this, "He said that he had Fugakus eyes, so there's definitely a chance that they're his." It was incredibly hard to tell which Sharingan Naruto had activated. Whenever he would activate his Sharingan, it would only appear as his regular blue eyes, but with splotches of red seemingly randomly distributed.

The eyes would change slightly for each variation, but it was almost impossible to tell the difference, so they couldn't just compare his to Kakashis to see if it was actually Obitos eye.

If Obito was alive, how? Kakashi had seen him be crushed. How could he have a right Sharingan if his right side was completely crushed by a mass of boulders?

They would get to the bottom of this. They would find out what happened to Obito.

Heyo!
Princess Tobito is here now!
Sorry that this chapter was a little short. If you like shorter chapters, then you're welcome! I know the fight between "Madara" and the Chinmoku was pretty anticlimactic, but I don't think Obito would really show off his ability to the fullest extent yet. There will be a 2-ish year timeskip in the next chapter. Just an FWI.
Anyway~
I hope you enjoyed this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it. Have a good day/night (or else!)
Jerry out!
