Things get worse-

The next few days before winter break Amy and everyone but Charles, since he was roommates with Jake, had only seen him in class and that was it. No sign of him at meals, homework sessions, or anything outside of class. All Amy wants to do is hold Jake and make everything okay and tell him how she feels. But she knew she couldn't do any of that without probably making things worse so she just left him alone even though his sadness made her heart ache.

They return to campus a few weeks later in mid January but sadly Jake is still almost as bad. He's eating with everyone again but he's quiet and doesn't do much else. Everyone has tried their best to cheer him up but nothing helped. And Gina and Rosa weren't helping Amy at all with their constant badgering of her to finally tell Jake how she feels. Holt even asks them all after class one day if Jake is okay to which they explain he's just going through a rough break up as Holt nods in understanding. Later Amy was sitting at her desk in her room, focusing on an assignment when suddenly she heard a knock on the door. Hopeful that it was maybe Jake she hopped out of her chair and opened the door, only to be greeted by someone she was far from happy to see. Teddy was standing outside her door, a big grin on his boring face and she had to avoid audibly groaning at his presence since she would've preferred to be banging her head against the wall than have to talk and interact with him. "Hi Amy!"

"Hey," she says bluntly, hoping he'll take a hint and get lost but he doesn't and she's forced to spend the next fifteen minutes talking to him about stuff before he decides to shoot his shot. "Amy I think we should get back together! Like I've said before we are a perfect mat-" he starts before Amy interrupts him with a loud,"No!"

"Get out of here Teddy! God I should've known this was why you were here! I don't want to be with you and I never will!" she yells, slamming the door in his face. Soon she gets a text from Jake surprisingly, saying he heard what just happened and was laughing. It made her smile and they texted a bit more before she convinced him to come over and hang out. Now, things were getting back to normal for everyone and Amy could tell he was so much happier recently and it made her happier too. Them hanging out again like before meant Gina especially was asking her a bunch of stuff and trying so hard to make her give in and finally tell Jake. Amy really wants to tell him but he might not feel the same way, whether what Sophia had said was true or not, and they had just gotten back to normal finally. She didn't want to throw a wrench into it just after it was fixed.

Before she knew it they were nearing Valentine's Day and finally, she was making a plan about her and Jake. She had to be cautious especially since the other day they bumped into Sophia and it caused him to spiral again. She hoped that he wouldn't be too upset soon because she wanted it to all go well. She tells Rosa and Gina about her plans and they start helping her make a plan and avoid the slowly increasing anxiety and worry she has building inside her. As the day before Valentine's Day approaches, the day she wants to tell him how she feels and hopes that he wants to go on a date with her, Amy is excited but also worried that he'll say no and not feel the same about her and then things will be weird between them again. Gina and Rosa continue to help her keep those thoughts at bay as they pump her up for it since they've been trying to get her to tell him her feelings for so long. The day arrives soon and Amy is excited to finally tell him how she feels, but she is trying to bury the nervousness and worry that have been building up ever since she started planning this. Gina and Rosa are sitting in the room with her as she goes over it all again for the millionth time. They said they'll be there for her whether there is a happy or sad outcome, which made her smile as she pulled them in for a hug that even Rosa didn't argue against.

Later that afternoon when she's sure Jake is in his room and Charles is off, who knows where (as long as he isn't nearby it's good). She has her hair done up in a ponytail and she's wearing a hoodie she had borrowed from him last time they all hung out. She knocks on the door and waits for him to open it, with a smile on her face. A few seconds later the door opens and she sees Jake's face immediately soften when he sees her. "Hey Ames, what's up?"

"Hey Jake I wanted to talk to you about something!" She says cheerily, although internally she is dealing with a surge of anxiety.

"Oh okay sure. What do you need?" he says with a smile that makes her want to melt. But she keeps herself together for the time being. "I, um, wanted to tell you that I think you're really great!" she says and Jake responds before she can continue.

"Well of course you do I'm awesome!" he says with a laugh making her roll her eyes.

"Let me finish Jake. I think you're really great and I should've told you this a while ago but I was too scared. I really like you, I mean really like you, romantic stylez. And I wanted to see if maybe you felt the same way and if you wanted to maybe go out tomorrow since it's Valentine's Day!" She says, taking a deep breath after. Looking up at him though she is frozen as she sees his face. The smile is gone, and now he looks much sadder than anytime she's seen him since just after his break up. Honestly, she thought he looked even more upset, especially when she could see tears forming in his eyes. She could feel tears beginning to form in her eyes as well as he got ready to speak again. She knew from Jake's face and the mood change that this probably wasn't going to be good for her. "Oh no,"She thought in a panic as he opened his mouth to speak again.
