March 2014, Seattle, Washington
The Fremont neighborhood was reputably known to contain many quirky and unique features that lined up along the streets of Seattle. Even as winter was starting to fade into the warmth of Spring. The streetlights and the indie bars still populated this colorful part of the city north of Lake Union. For most days it was relatively peaceful, attracting residents looking to enjoy their day or tourists looking to explore the parts that made up what made Seattle so great in their minds. But even with the joyous environment and the hip new tourists, it did not mean that crime was non-existent in the area. It was minor, but it happened behind all eyes and was executed discreetly. No matter where it was. Such a crime was happening in front of the unmoving eyes of the Fremont Troll, made not to intervene but to lay underneath a bridge like troll is said to do.
As the Troll stood, in front of it was a teenager with glasses attempting to franticly crawl away. His head had already possessed a black left eye and his frame had been damaged. Concealed by his polo was more bruises caused by the blunt wooden impact of a baseball bat held by one of five men. All of whom were concealing themselves with insulated jackets or dark hoodies while wearing a vary degree of masks, some were ski masks while three others represented superheroes. The young man attempted to stand his ground, but the pain in his legs prevented him from trying to run.
The five men snorted in a sense of accomplishment. The man with a baseball bat had then decided to point it at the young man currently attempting to make some distance.
"Maybe this gives you a second thought about messing with one of my guys" said the masked assailant
"Please! I was just trying to help that woman. He was trying to rob her." said the young man. He was intimidated, but yet managed to muster up some courage to speak up to his attackers.
"Well maybe." said the criminal with the bat "But, way I see it, you disrespected him…. meaning you disrespected me and all my guys. Now we can't tolerate that can we? Especially when it happens to a friend" he said to the young man. Within the mask he smiled at the level of how intimidated he was, a defenseless opponent made a good opponent in his eyes.
The young man responded and said in a strained voice "Then…then you're just as worse as he was. Thinking that you're entitled to be respected by people better than you." His body finally gave as his legs were in too much pain to continue crawling. Seeing this made the masked criminals happy, giving them a sort of excitement.
"Ahahaha! You all see this kid, scrawny as a pencil but apparently has balls of steel. I think I know where to hit next. Guys?" He playfully said to his gang as he spun his bat in preparation. However, a line of web came from nowhere as it attached itself to the bat and yanked it away from his hands in a matter of seconds. A voice, young and male came from behind them.
"Way I see it; you've already hit your three strikes. Anymore and you just might break your own arm." The voice playfully said, the criminals having noticed the sudden theft of the bat looked up to see a figure hanging upside down from a line a webbing attached to the bottom of the bridge holding the bat. He wore what looked to be a mask of an unknown fabric, clean and red with two clean white lenses that acted as eyes with a black lining around them. His body was outfitted with a dark red full leather jacket with a collar that surrounded his neck. The jacket had a black medium sized spider on the chest area and the rest were dark blue pants of an unknown fabric with dark boots. The criminals saw that one way or the other, this person acted and resembled the famed New Yorker superhero Spider-Man.
"Who the hell?" One of the criminals said.
"Hey web-head! You're supposed to be across the country!" The former bat possessing criminal said.
"Oh, really?" He mockingly said, "Well, where I go there are criminals to fight so I guess I'm right where I belong!" He rapidly finished as he threw the bat at the leader, making an impact with his forehead hard enough to knock him out entirely. Spider-Man then descended quickly, landing his feet on another gang member, and quickly webbed him to the ground, entrapping him. Still conscious, the now entrapped member attempted to struggle to no avail
"Nrgggh! What the hell! I can't move!" He said
However, no one responded as they were busy attempting to fight and injure Spider-Man, who was dodging them from multiple directions. Amid the scene, in a rapid matter of seconds Spider-Man had grabbed the fist of one his potential attackers and redirected it to another member who attempting to charge him. The result being both knocking each other out, and on top of one another as they were quickly blanketed with webs.
"Awww, look at that! You guys would make great cellmates!" Spider-Man quipped. However, the last remaining criminal having seen how fast this Spider-Man was able to quickly incapacitate his gang. He quickly decided to run off and escape the web-slinger, try to prevent getting caught and being arrested. However, Spider-Man quickly noticing the now cowardly criminal escaping, quickly spun out a thick line of web that attached to the man's back, pulling him down and dragging him back to where Spider-Man was.
As he pulled him back, Spider-Man said "Now now, don't be shy. I promise the cops won't bite…. too hard." Spider-Man then proceeded to expel more webbing from his wrists, keeping the last criminal stuck to the ground underneath the bridge.
"Well, guys its been swell. Thanks for the practice round, oh and don't you all worry. The boys in blue will be here in a couple of minutes." Spider-Man light heartedly said as he approached the civilian to assist him. The teenager was in absolute awe, having observed his savior to be an actual superhero merely seconds after thinking he would experience further injury. As 'Spider-Man' approached him, his heart felt like it was swimming, to be the witness of something remarkable and at the same time confusing. It all felt like a blur, he had many questions and none at the same time.
As Spider-Man approached him, he bent down and asked "Hey, sorry about the delay back there." As he pointed to the criminals. "I know you're obviously hurt, but do you think you can stand or walk?" he asked with a tone of friendliness and concern.
This question broke the young man's mind out of his shocking trance. "Uh…I don't think I can walk; I think I twisted my leg" He said.
"Ooh wish I was here sooner" Spider-Man responded; this took the young man aback. He sounded as if he was genuinely sorry, he didn't make it earlier.
"You saved my life, that's good enough for me." The young man gratefully said.
"Here, let me carry you and put you on the troll. The cops should get here soon with an ambulance" Spider-Man said, he then proceeded to lift up the teenager with surprising ease and walked over to put him on the stone hand that was laying across the ground. Once he did, the young man decided to curiously ask him a question.
"Hey, I appreciate you saving me, but I gotta ask you. Are you the real Spider-Man?"
"Well…. I can do everything that a spider can." Spider-Man said, the young man didn't notice it, but the masked hero spoke with a small tone of uncertainty. As if he wasn't fully ready to embrace the identity.
"But are you actually the same Spidey from New York? You're doing the same exact same things. It was…It was…" pressed the young man
"Amazing? Spectacular? Astonishing?" Spider-Man finished as the black lining started to lower itself to make a squinting gesture.
"Yeah…. I mean I heard rumors and stories that you were fighting crime here for the last 2 months! Did you decide to move to Seattle?" said the young man as his tone went from awe struck to eager.
"I mean…."
"Did any villains come here to wreak havoc?"
"No, well not that I…."
"Is there a big plot that you have to stop?"
"No, its not…"
"Oh! Are you a new Spider-Man? Like did he take an apprentice?"
"Uhm…."
Before Spider-Man could be successfully pressured to respond, sirens were heard in the distance that were steadily getting closer to their position. Both stopped to listen and Spider-Man being thankful for the sudden appearance decided to take the chance to leave and catch a breath of air.
"Well look at that!" Spider-Man said, "That's some fast response time! I guess I'll take my leave here now. Listen! Tell them what happened and to get help for your leg. Stay safe out there!" He said as he leaped from ground and shot a line of web, quickly swinging out of the bridge and proceeded to breeze through the neighborhood. However, looking from afar was an unknown figure observing this new Spider-Man as he swung with relative success if not extremely roughly through the neighborhood.
As Seattle's new web-slinger swung, he contemplated his actions over the past few months.
He's got a point. After finally making the mask, figuring out the correct chemical formula for the webs, and putting together all this stuff. I still don't even know if should call myself Spider-Man. Is that wrong? I mean after fighting crime for 3 months I can't even tell these people straight up I'm Spider-Man. I keep telling myself I'm not doing it out of worship, that I want to make people's lives better. I want to own up to my mistakes. I mean, living as Aaron Caulfield got a little better, I finally made friends in both Rob and Arnold who're chill to hang with. Bullies are still there, but some more people are acknowledging me. But being a superhero, it feels great, I found myself better talking behind a mask then as my real self. But it's also been cutting into my own personal life. Mom and Dad are getting a little more concerned with where I am now, I'm now routinely almost late to school. God, I don't even how I'm still able to keep up with the homework. I'm 14 for crying out loud. I shouldn't even be fighting crime! But I am!
As Spider-Man swung through Fremont, he finally decided to land on a high enough rooftop from the air. Letting go of his web, his quickly swings his legs back and forth to move it into a place and lands on the rooftop with a concrete thud. He breathes, letting his body rest as it finishes fighting against the invisible force of gravity and feeling the impact of the wind blowing against his body. As he looks at the edge of the rooftop to look down on the populace going about their lives, he contemplates the simplicity of living as a civilian.
Maybe I should just quit, focus on school. Keep up the grades, be there more for Mom and Dad. They haven't been the same ever since we came back from the Arcadia Bay memorial service. It's been gloomier at home. Sometimes I hear mom crying alone in her room. Dad does his best, but nothing much happens now. Everything has been quiet without Max in our lives. Besides, there's already one Spider-Man. There're no supervillains here, no big evil plot. What happens if any of his villains decide to come find me thinking I am him. Is it worth it? Hell, what if…...
"You know I gotta agree with that guy you saved; you can do everything a spider can." Said an older male voice coming from behind Aaron. As he sped behind to look, he saw that familiar red and blue costume, with webbing surrounding the red fabric and a small sizable black spider in the middle. Looking upward was that iconic faceless mask, with two blank white eyes facing Aaron's mask.
"I guess it's more accurate to say you did everything a spider-man can" said the Amazing Spider-Man, his tone of voice making it sound like a friendly compliment with his blank eye wide open to show friendliness.
Aaron was left in utter shock; his thoughts had been broken only for him to be unable to think at all. His mask was hiding an open jaw, left awestruck that the hero he looked up to despite being across the country shows up in front of him. He had no idea if this was real or an illusion, if he was genuinely approving, or straight up angry that someone was imitating him. He also was taller than he originally thought which made it a little intimidating.
"You're…. You're the real Spider-Man…. the actual Spi…Spider-Man…." Aaron could only say
"Well back home J. Jonah Jameson from the Daily Bugle prefers to call me more of a menace. You must be my new double!" Spider-Man says. His mask showed an expression of friendliness and excitement as he finally met face to face with the young man who has display a similar set of abilities on costume. Though he thought that leather jacket was slightly familiar though if not cool looking. Based on his height and vocal pitch, he was probably no older than a teenager. Perhaps no older than he was when he became the hero he is today.
"I…I…I…How'd you find me? Uhm…. what are you doing here? ...Not that…. I…uhm…don't like that you're here…I do!... but… but..." Aaron was at a loss for words, never in his life would he ever have expected to meet Spider-Man. He knew that something needed to be said but he grew nervous as Spider-Man approached him and proceeded to put a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey kid. It's alright, I'm not here to bite, at least I'm not that much of a spider to do so. But I guess now's a good time for us to have a little talk." Spider-Man said, while he did come to Seattle. It was originally to assist the Avengers on a pursuit against a hidden AIM facility underneath Spokane two weeks ago. The original plan was to take down the AIM facility and fly back to New York, however it was later on that he caught wind of the presence of a person resembling him fighting small crime in Seattle. At first, Peter was concerned. When it came to the presence of other spiders excluding his clones, he was apprehensive to it. Believing it to be a criminal imposter like the Chameleon or a fan trying to mimic him which usually does not end well.
But after observing the actions of this new double for the past couple days despite promising to step in. He began to second-guess; he became impressed by what this other Spider-Man was doing. He had the exact same powers, he was helping civilians and not trying to cash in. Peter confessed to himself that he had a lot of potential. But he had to stop and ask if this kid acknowledged the baggage that comes with being Spider-Man. The importance of the power placed on him. The responsibility.
"I guess I know what you want to say." His younger double said, Spider-Man looked to see this other Spider feel down. "You want me to stop, don't you? Stop fighting crime?"
"Well, I don't really know about that yet. I've been watching you kid; you're pretty good. Better than I actually thought! I know off the bat that you're capable of handling yourself and you've got a lot of potential." Peter says to his younger doppelganger.
"I feel a 'but' coming on here" Aaron says
Spider-Man confirms this by saying "I gotta understand something from you. Why are doing this? I know you're young but you're obviously smarter than you let on. You know that putting on that mask has a lot of baggage."
Aaron responds "It's a long and complicated story. I don't know if I can tell it short."
"No need to worry, just explain. But you don't have to say stuff you aren't comfortable saying."
Both Aaron and Spider-Man sit on the edge of the rooftop, Peter ready to listen attentively to what his younger namesake has to say.
"Look Spider-Man, I know what it looks like, it's true, I am a big fan. Hearing about your stories fighting villains like Electro, Sandman, Scorpion. I looked up to that. But I'm not doing this out of worship or idolization." Aaron said. He took a moment to gather his thoughts on what to say in front of the hero.
"I've had these powers for six months now. But I've only been going out and fighting crime for the last three, before that I was just using them for my own amusement. It was a way to escape the world. I hated everything, bullies, being ignored, being ridiculed, being lied to. It made me hate talking to people. Made me angry at the world. Later, I got into a fight over the phone with someone close to me, a family member. I…I really hurt her that night, she was already going through a hard time and I had to rub salt in the wound just for the sake of my own pride. I tried to apologize meaningfully, but it was too late. When she died, it made me feel like the worst person alive. I felt guilty, disgusted with myself. But it made me realize something, I wasn't just the only one going through hard times, I've seen others go through just as worse in the city and in school and I could've done something but instead I took out my anger on them by doing nothing at times when they needed someone. I realized then, that had I been more considerate, more understanding, been more responsible with my actions. I could've helped, I didn't do that then, but I am now. Never again will I turn the other way."
Aaron finishes his statement, and waits for Spider-Man to respond, he knew that he was awaiting judgement from. But would it matter? He could find other ways to help but using his powers to fight crime and defend others, it made him feel amazing like he was using it for something worthwhile and meaningful. Not just for himself, but for others.
Spider-Man finally responds "You know a great man once told me a long time ago, 'With great power, there must come great responsibility' I didn't realize the meaning of that until the day I lost him."
"He must've been wise." Aaron said
"One of the wisest, even to this day his words still guide me. I'll admit kid, I feel bad for this, but you're right I did think you were doing this out of worship at first." Spider-Man said in a tone of honesty
Aaron shrugs "I don't blame you. Heck I'm three months into wearing this costume, and life's gotten rough with me. Being Spider-Man must come with pressure not a lot of people can handle."
"It does but, watching you and hearing you out. I think I misjudged you, and I'm probably glad I did." he says, with a tone of absoluteness to him.
Aaron is slightly taken aback. "You…You mean that…." He tries to ask,
"Yup, you have my blessing kid! You're young sure, but I think your heart and mind are both in the right place. That you truly have what it takes." Spider-Man says lightheadedly.
Aaron, however, isn't so convinced of himself, he stands up and walks a bit afar from Peter. Discovering a small puddle of water, he sees his reflection and asks out loud to the New York web-slinger "What…What if I screw up? When do I know I'm truly Spider-Man?" He asks with concern and worry.
Spider-Man reassures him, he puts his hand behind his head and says "Well, you are going to screw up." He says making Aaron feel discouraged, attempting to reassure him he then says
"But that's ok! No one is perfect! Its normal to screw up, its normal to make mistakes. But what matters isn't how we make them but how we can learn from them. It's something that everyone has to learn on their own. Including you kid. But despite that, learning from your mistakes won't tell you when you're Spider-Man. That's something no one, not even me can tell you. It's a leap of faith." Spider-Man says.
Aaron, listening to the masked hero. Starts to look up to eyes, and suddenly having garnered a new sense of determination. "I think I understand now. It's a path someone has to be willing to walk down toward, being ready to face the unknown."
"That's one way you can put it, but I want you to know this. You're not alone in this. I may not be there to help you, but I still want to help you out with anything. Whether its tips to crime-fighting, advice on how to fight villains, or some help making gadgets or webbing. You don't need to completely face this path alone, not like I used to." said Spider-Man, his voice was sincere yet soft.
To Aaron, this wasn't the random superhero speaking to him but the man whose actions inspired the lives and souls of many from afar. He had started this conversation uncertain and unsure of himself. Yet at the end, he is being encouraged to follow through on the path of the hero. To experience this moment in the matter of mere months, it filled him with certainty. It brought him clarity.
"Now, of course you should still stay in school. That's still important for everyone, but I think you'll do great as this city's Spider-Man. Just remember, whoever you are beneath the mask you still got people in your life. Keep them close to you. They can be your strength even in times where you think you might give up." said Spider-man
"Of course, thank you. I'm honored, I really am." Aaron says, but instead of stopping there, he decides to cement the trust he received from the masked hero by removing his own. Spider-Man soon observes the true face of his double, a teenager with caucasian skin, short dark brown hair, and brown eyes. He slightly taken by surprise, not expecting the teen to unmask himself. Eventually, he quickly realized if he could trust the teen to be Spider-Man, then the teen could trust with his secret identity.
"By the way." said Aaron "My name is Aaron, Aaron Caulfield just so you don't need to call me kid"
Spider-Man decides to return the gesture by taking off his own mask, trusting the height of the rooftop to be high enough that no one will see.
Aaron is surprised, as he was expecting an older person. Instead, the true face of his hero as a young man who looks to be only in his early twenties with brown hair, hazel eyes, and a clear light face with a soft expression.
"Well Aaron, my name is Peter Parker. I've been Spider-Man since I was 15, and it feels good not to be the only one."
Aaron responds as they put on their masks again, "It really does, doesn't it?"
Peter decides to change the subject, "Well now that we have that out of the way. I gotta ask you something Aaron. Your webbing? Did you make that yourself?" asked Peter.
Aaron eager to explain his scientific achievements, "Yeah! I did, it took me while. But I was able to figure out a way to synthesize the compound necessary to substitute the adhesive properties of the spider without compromising on solidification. Turns out it was a mixture of several artificial proteins and amino acids." Aaron said.
"I did the same, although I usually limit the number of certain enzymes to prevent long-term solidification of the individual threads." Said Peter.
"I think you can bypass that, have you tried coating individual web threads over the other. I tested out the theory a couple weeks back, turns out that if you can spin a multi-layered thread. Each layer insulates the one beneath, preventing further oxygen and minerals from being absorbed by the webs and dissolving until the above layers dissolve first. You can prolong the semi-adhesive structure by a few extra hours without compromising on tensile strength. This results in control over web-shooting as you could decide to spin individual or multi-layered" said Aaron
"Interesting!" said Spider-Man "but wouldn't you need a sort of multi-layered nozzle on your web-shooter…."
The two heroes discussed a great deal of their web-shooters. After an hour, they decided to patrol together to give Aaron a demonstration of useful tips on fighting crime.
As the Spider-Men fought against a large gang of drug dealers in an ally, Peter spoke to Aaron in mid combat while dodging and kicking his opponents.
"Now don't forget! If you're dealing with large group, you can use divide and conquer strategies. Separate them! Makes it easier to pick em off" As Spider-Man webbed two dealers about to ambush him and pulled them forward to knock their heads together.
Aaron, currently amid combat and dodging efficiently thanks to his spider-sense takes in the advice and finds a nearby fuse box. He shoots out a line of webbing at the box, yanking it off the brick wall and throws it at a cluster of 4 dealers, sending a live current that is enough to shock them in place without killing them. This allows him to start taking them down one by one through a motley of melee and web-based hits. After knocking them out, he looks to Peter already finished with the rest and asks, "Like that?" and Peter nods replying with "Not bad, although I recommend being careful when it comes to electricity."
Following a few more combat situations, they decide to test Aaron web-swinging through the city. Peter already experienced and able to swing gracefully, looks at Aaron who has his fundamentals down although his angles from where his webs are positions can be off and so is his balance. "Remember to think of yourself as a pendulum, think of how far you're swinging down depending on the angle of your webs. Also don't forget to balance and position yourself correctly!" Peter yells as he witnesses Aaron who struggles slightly but is slowly improving his web-swinging and his form while in motion.
"I suppose Hooke's Law is a good thing to think about! You and I aren't exactly equal!" Aaron says
As Peter matches his pace, he has an expression of realization following Aaron's comment "Wow! You're right, we're completely different in multiple ways! Completely affecting tensile strength, rate of speed, and other things! I think I've underestimated you kid!" He says in a positive tone
"Heh, what can I say. I just like science!" Aaron says as he begins to adjust his form to allow for higher ascent into the air. Once he does, he jumps into the air, performs a somersault, and then allows for the gravity to take him down only for him to shoot web to a nearby building. Maintaining his rhythm while Peter looks on.
"See! You're improving!"
By sunset, they relax on top of a skyscraper in downtown Seattle. By then, both are having a hot beverage to relax after hours of teaching Aaron some useful things to know. Both Peter and Aaron know it's not everything to know about crime-fighting but it's a good start.
"mmm, this is great! How'd they make a hot mocha latte like this?" Peter asks as he enjoys his latte
"That's a family secret with the owner of that place, he prefers to keep it to himself to prevent competitors from using it. Still, it's one of the best café's in downtown." Aaron happily responds
"Peter listen, I can't thank you enough for teaching me some of this stuff. I'm glad to know this stuff now! But I have one more question."
"What is it?"
"Does it ever get easier to handle? Being Spider-Man I mean. Having a double life" Aaron asks
Peter takes a moment to ponder over the thought. He admits, it hasn't been easy. Not just trying to conceal the secret of being Spider-Man from his friends and family but also often as his heroic and personal life often come together. Both lives have kept him busy, sometimes even interfering with one another. But nevertheless, he enjoys the life he lives. Doing his best to remain close to those he cares about, while performing his responsibilities.
"Now that's a tough question to answer. In some ways, things get just as hard, but you get used to that. Other times, it can feel overwhelming at times you just want to not do both. But like I said before, being Spider-Man is a leap of faith. You don't know until you walk that road." Responded Peter.
Aaron, listening in says "It looks I have to wait and see? Alright, I'll do that." He then looks to Peter, "I guess this is where we go our separate ways?" asked Aaron
"Yeah pretty much." Responded Peter, he gives a friendly pat on Aaron's shoulder. "New York City, true to its nickname 'never sleeps' someone needs to look out for it."
Aaron responds, "I understand, thank you anyway."
"No problem, besides Seattle has its very own Spider-Man now! You're going to be amazing Aaron. Just remember, with Great Power…."
"There must also come Great Responsibility." Aaron finishes
Peter decides to give Aaron one more thing as a token of acceptance "Oh! Before I forget, here!" Peter hands Aaron a red flash drive "This drive contains some things I put together for you. I thought it'd be useful."
"What does it have?" asked Aaron
"My number for you to if you ever need help. A document with the formula for my webbing, some schematics on building cartridges, utility belt, and some info on my villains should they ever show up here. I want to make sure you're prepared" said Peter
Aaron, possessing a stronger sense of gratitude says "Once again! Thank you, I am…"
"Forever grateful? I know, don't worry about it." Peter says while feeling flattered.
After paying their final farewells, both Spider-Men decide now is the time to part.
"Good luck out there Spider-Man. Now go be a hero!" Peter says as he leaps off the building and swings away on his webs. Aaron looking afar, observes the hero's departure with his mask off before donning it once again. Looking down below to observe the city streets, he takes a deep breath before finally jumping to descend from the rooftop. As he feels his body clash against the direction of the air, he shoots out a line of web sticking to a nearby building and swings the distance. As he does so, he yells out a noise of enjoyment as adrenaline races through his body.
"Look out Seattle! Here comes your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man!"
A/N: That is the end of the final teaser chapter for the COUNTDOWN series. I know it has been a long time since I started publishing this fiction. If life wasn't so difficult. I would've have been more motivated to really write more for my stories. But in the time, I had gone dark, I learned a lot of new concepts, stuff that really helped when it came to the narrative and how to create compelling storylines. Thanks to all that, I really was able to focus on the clear concepts for my story and what I really wanted. I wanted to address how some of the stuff such as the science references were a bit inspired by other Spider-Man material such as the Into the Spider-Verse movie and the PS4 game universe. Just to get a good idea of how an experienced Peter Parker would interact with a new, younger Spider-Man.
With that being said, a LOT of changes had to made. Not just to present a better characterization, but also for the sake of modifying consistency. Originally, the main story was going to take place in 2017. However, I decided it would be better to push the time period a year later to sort of present a better impact when it came to the lives of several characters. Including those from both LIS and Marvel. This story will still be set in a world where both LIS and Marvel Comics universes do coexist as one universe, but not in the form of an amalgamation, rather both events (and multiple storylines) had happened without influence by one another. But many of the Marvel storylines that had come to exist would've happened before, during, and after the events of LIS and LIS: BTS.
So you can expect (in a general awareness) stories like Secret Wars (both 1980s and 2014), Civil War, Ends of The Earth, Superior Spider-Man, Spider-Verse, etc. will have already happened by the time of main story. However, none of those will have any direct influence on the main storyline, its just for the sake of providing a line of continuity.
This leads to my second point, one of the things that is most confusing about the main Marvel timeline is their sliding timescale, which they use to maintain character youth so that they do not really age throughout the years. As a result, this has allowed many events to be condensed into just over a decade in 'Marvel time' I call it. I had to read about this, because multiple storylines were years apart in real life but close up with one another in 'Marvel-time' This leads the actual point, in which I may have had to follow the same idea in order to maintain consistency. So, during the year 2017 to mid-2018, based on Marvel's example of the timescale. Everything from Superior Spider-Man to 2015 Secret Wars would've have happened before the main storyline. I had to make this decision since the main storyline will still take place post Secret Wars in the 8 months' time-skip. This is all to maintain consistency in the storyline so that when the main storyline begins, it lines up accurately with the setting in which organizations like Parker Industries will have already become the worldwide corporation with while establishing the current place and lives of the characters that will be introduced. I've already updated some of the earlier chapters in the COUNTDOWN series to maintain that consistency while also accommodating new character events and modifying the time period to have a better fit with potential events.
Finally, I am pleased to announce the official title of the main LIS/Spider-Man story. "Spider-Man: Death No More" This story will continue the story of Aaron Caulfield while involving both Spider-Man and LIS characters, respectively. I have already updated the title of the teaser series to represent the final title. Additionally, Spider-Man: Death No More will also involve original villains of my creation with more familiar villains from already established continuity. I hope you all have enjoyed this teaser and the one's previous. My vision for this story had grown a lot and I'm ready to get it out there. Remember to review so that my writing can continue to grow! Thank you!
