I was in no mood to nap after what happened at the market. I started working a messy braid into my long hair, running my fingers through my locks heatedly. I was so angry. Cuda got away with so much and even worse, Rah was standing there after Cuda insulted me so harshly. Cuda's hate for me was unwarranted, wasn't it? Why was I so worthy of that kind of emotion? Had I done something to him that I couldn't remember? I pushed the nasty young blooded male from my mind and focused on something more important, training.
My mothers training was much more rigorous than I expected, definitely more rigorous than with the instructor but even for the first day I was learning new skills that I never knew before. My mother was the killer of bad bloods for a reason and she wouldn't let me down.
Even though I tried to keep Cuda out of my thoughts, the bastard still had a point. My mother wouldn't be around to protect me forever and Cuda was clearly incensed that she stopped our fight and attacked him. It was almost like he believed I was receiving favor. I scoffed to myself, Cuda is the Commander's son. He gets the favoritism! Even when he bullies me, I get into the trouble, not him.
I looked at the time, c'jit! I'm late!
I quickly said goodbye to mother and began walking past the markets to the docking port, where Yautja, arriving from hunts or other adventures would land their ships. The clan ships were located to the far right, where our clan banners could hang proudly over them. A bucket and wash rag was on the ground. Next to it was a woven basket with some Yautjian fruits in it. I knew it was from my Uncle and his mate Ki'ya. Ki'ya made beautiful baskets like this all the time. With a smile I got to work.
I went through the kitchens and the showers first this time. As usual the showers were disgusting. The baths were covered in dead scales that lined the Yautja body and fell off from hot baths. The training room and weight room was relatively clean before I began scrubbing, so that didn't take me long at all either.
The commons room was in need of work. I washed the tables and even emptied some machines that dispensed cold and hot drinks. I found myself under a table picking scraps so I could throw them out when I heard a loud and obvious clearing of the throat from behind me. It startled me and my head connected with the underside of the table.
"OUCH!" I growled, rubbing my head and getting up to glare at whoever startled me.
It was Rah.
He was smiling, as if slightly amused at my reaction to his noise. My mouth parted in surprise. The 7 foot Cetanu like Yautja looking at me with soft silver colored eyes cleared his throat,
"I'm sorry," he bowed his head apologetically, "did I scare you
mei-jadhi?" I bowed my head to him. He was my equal, but right now, he felt immensely superior to me.
"No-no...not scared. It's just, is quiet when I'm the only one here." I responded with burning cheeks. "What is going on? Is something wrong?" I asked him.
Rah's mandibles folded in tighter, pushing up into a grin, "No, I just wanted to talk to you."
My heart beat sped up. Talk to me? Before the training Rah was being fawned over by every female Yautja our age. He never paid attention to me. Because of this I barely knew anything about him. What changed?
"What about?" My head fell to the side in curiosity.
"Why are you doing this...chore?" I could tell he regarded this job below his own worth. I bit my lip, for him to see me do such slave work was a tad embarrassing. My brows furrowed and I crossed my arms in irritation,
"Why don't you ask your friend?"
"Of course it has to do with Cuda." Rah sighed in annoyance, clicking his mandibles together. "If it means anything to you, I apologize for his disrespect. No daughter of Sirrah should be treated that way."
"Thank you."
"Atorah!"
Rah looked past my shoulder, I spun around to see my uncle stalking towards us. His eyes were locked on Rah. Rah immediately bowed his head and put his fist on his chest in greeting. My uncle did not return the greeting.
"It is past curfew Yautja." He scolded.
"My apologies elder." Rah continued to submit. Then without a word Rah stood straight, giving me a last glance before hurrying away from the area.
"You should stay away from that jehdin."
