Hello! I'm back. Sorry for the disappearance, life just has bad timing I guess. Anyways, I wanted to get started on the Sonic fic I've been planning for a while, before I lose the opportunity. And about Murphy's Law… well. I've decided to take a break from it. I don't know where I want that story to go yet, and for the time being I've lost interest. But fret not, I am not abandoning it. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this new project of mine.

Tails' ears hurt. The golden kitsune had been flying in the Tornado I for the past 2 hours, on his way to Angel Island. He didn't know why he had been called there by Sonic and Knuckles, but he found it fitting to fly the Tornado I there, as it was the plane that caught the Master Emerald and returned it to the island.

However, the engine was rather loud.

Nevertheless, he continued. Keeping the aircraft at cruise speed, he looked over the edge of the canopy and down to the endless ocean below. "Nothing but water around here…" he scoffed to himself as he pulled back on the flight stick, and the plane started to gain more altitude. Right as the craft rose above the cloud layer, Tails spotted five black specks in the distance. He raised his flight goggles and squinted at them. A small blue dot appeared at the center of the middle speck, then suddenly flared up. Tails didn't have to look twice to know it was a laser. He jerked the flight stick to the right, and the plane quickly rolled right. The cyan laser barely missed the aircraft, and Tails could feel the heat from it as it passed. The black specks, now identified by Tails as Eggrobos, flew past the Tornado I, their jetpacks spewing flame from their exhaust ports. Doing his best to keep his composure, Tails flicked a switch on the Tornado I's instrument panel, and the fuselage-mounted jet booster kicked to life. He gripped tightly onto the flight stick, watching his airspeed gauge slowly increase. The Tornado I was unarmed, and Tails knew his only option was to flee. Another laser struck the aircraft's left wing, and Tails' heart sank. The Tornado I began to lose altitude, and Tails fought as hard as he could to regain control. Another laser struck the jet booster, and a resounding boom shook the aircraft. The young fox's ears rang as smoke poured from the bottom of the aircraft. Panicking, he reached for the radio transmitter, and grabbed the microphone. "This is Miles Prower! Can anyone hear me? Sonic? I'm going down! The Tornado is trashed! Send help!" He cried into the radio. A few seconds later, a voice responded, sending chills down his spine. "Ohohoho… I hear you loud and clear, fox boy." It didn't take Tails long to identify the voice as Eggman's. He sounded especially sinister, which put Tails at an extreme unease. "Cry for help all you want. There's nobody to help you out here." Tails simply remained silent. Once he realised the Tornado I couldn't be saved, he tried to bail out of the plane, only to come to a chilling realisation.

He was trapped.

He looked down at his feet, to see a metal pipe sticking out from the cockpit floor, through his foot, and out the top of his shoe. It was only after he noticed it that the pain hit. He winced, and tried to pull his foot off the pipe. He cried out in pain, and quickly realized that removing his foot was not an option. So, as the plane screamed toward the ocean below, he braced for impact.

The crash was harder than he'd like to admit. The impact with the water sheared both the left wing and the tail section completely off the plane. Tails was surprised he was still alive, let alone conscious.

However, the misery had just begun.

It didn't take Tails' 300 IQ long to realize the Tornado I was sinking. He didn't know where the Eggrobos went, and frankly he didn't care. He just wanted out of the plane. However, his impaled foot was impeding his escape rather seriously. He tried in vain to remove his foot, and yelled in pain. He looked around him to see that the water was quickly rising to the cockpit. He took one deep breath as the plane slipped beneath the waves, dragging him down with it. He desperately reached for the surface as the salty water stung his eyes. The weight of the sinking Tornado I eventually yanked the pipe out of his foot, and he lost all the air in his lungs as he tried to scream. He frantically swam for the surface, but after losing all the air keeping him buoyant, and being waterlogged, he came to what was by far the most chilling realization of the series of chilling realizations he had so far.

He was going to die.

His blood ran cold, and he stopped trying to swim to the surface. He just let himself sink further into the water, fear and despair reflected in his cerulean eyes. As his vision began to darken, and the pain in his chest became unbearable, he felt something shift below him. He didn't have time to figure out what it was before he lost consciousness.

Sigh. Sorry for the cliffhanger, but unfortunately I have to come to a stop here. Time is a rare commodity. Anyways, please rate and review, and tell me what you thought! I'll try to push out updates as quick as I can!
