Batcat detective fic. "PREVIEW".

"What's that?" Bruce asked.

"Lapis lazul."

"And that."

Selina pursed her lips. "Tiger eye."

"And that?"

"Moonstone - synthetic."

"And that." Bruce pressed.

"Dang it, you're really good at this."

"Yes well what do you think I was doing from 17-20 IN THE CLINK, BRUCE."

"I can tell you what you're not doing now."

"Because you decided to play guess they gemstone 911."

"Because it's IMPORTANT!"

"17-20 WAS IMPORTANT DO YOU WANT MY HELP OR NOT."

Bruce fumed. His cheeks turned pink. He held up one finger, then dropped it. Some people thought Batman never got angry. The bat didn't. The man, Selina knew only too well, did.

Selina was mad, as well. "What do you even want, anyway? You drag me down here, for what?"

"To catch a thief, Selina." Bruce placed the precious stones in a drawer and turned around. "Only this time, it wasn't you. I need your help."

Selina titled her head, anger dissipating. "How do you know?" She teased. It was okay. They were at this place. ...she hoped.

A ghost of a smile crept over Bruce's face, then disappeared as quickly as it had arrived. He tapped the keyboard. A picture appeared on the bat-screen, so the Robins called it. Selina gasped. It was a photo of the victim - one hand sliced off, suspended from the ceiling by feet.

Bruce swung to face her. "I know it wasn't you because - besides this gruesome murder - the man who did this steals people. He traffics other people." He didn't ask, but he didn't need to.

Selina nodded. "I'm in."

"Let's catch a thief."
