A/N This is the final chapter. I wanted to make a heartfelt and slightly different ending from the movie, so this is the route I decided to take. Anyway, please enjoy, and leave comments.

One month later... New York Harbor Pier 59

The R.M.S. Olympic, or Old Reliable as it is affectionally called now, is once again taking in passengers as they embark yet another trip to Europe. Among the crowds, stood Jesse, his wife, and their two beautiful children, as the young family sees the father off to Europe.

"Finally, all these years! I get to go to school. Even father has been pushing me to go." Jesse says, nervously tugging at his vest, then straighening his little tie. Marion could notice her husband was indeed nervous, by seeing the subtle shaking of his hands and in his voice as he made his final adjustments to his clothes. Jesse would probably resemble someone who is going off on their first day of school, and this was the feeling for him.

"Oh, Jesse. Take care of yourself there. Don't let the girls in that German school on to you. Here, let me fix your hair." Marion hugged and kissed her husband, and at the same time, she fixed his hair. Jesse gave her a dimpled smile, that still made her blush. Ten years later, he still knew how to make his wife's heart melt.

"I won't." he showers his wife in kisses and hugs as well. Then he looks at his kids.

"Be good little kids, alright? Don't give your 'mummy' a hard time." Jesse says, hugging both of his children, then kissing them. Asa groaned in disgust, and for a seven year old, he already felt embarrassed, equally so for his little sister. He hugged his wife for the last time, before putting on his hat, then slung his jacket over his shoulder. As soon as he was about to board the Olympic he heard someone call out to him. Jesse and Marion both turned, to see Nick arriving to the harbor, followed by Herzog and Wolfsheim. They greet Jesse, Marion, and their kids.

"That was some wild week, wasn't it?" Nick asked, turning his eye to Jesse's wife, while still holding Jesse's hand.

"Tell me about it. Too bad about Myrtle though." Jesse says, not thinking.

"Who's Myrtle?" Marion asked, a sly smile playing on her face. "Ooh! Is she someone that likes to play with you?" Jesse knew his wife hardly got jealous; instead, she liked to play jokes on him, since she knew how attractive her husband is.

"Wha-?! No. She's-she-" Jesse looked towards the three men for help. Wolfsheim looked away nervously while scratching the back of his neck, Herzog looked down while kicking a pebble, and Nick was no help either, leaving Jesse to his devices.

"She's-By the way, how's Mr. Gatsby doing?" Jesse quickly changed the subject. Nick quickly picked up on it.

"Thanks to your quick response, Gatsby is making quick progress at recovery." Nick says, "I've already informed Jack as well. The doctor says he'll be out within the week."

"That's great!" Jesse says enthusiastically.

"Because of your bravery and honor, Gatsby himself will pay for all of Jesse's tuition. And room and board. Plus other related expenses. All because of saving his life." Wolfsheim says, extending his hand out to Jesse.

"Last time I was there Gatsby wasn't looking so good. Seeing him hooked up to all those tubes... I wonder how Jack is taking in all this." Jesse wondered.

"He's doing well actually. His wife just gave birth to a baby at that same hospital. It's a girl." Nick says excitedly. Marion squealed excitedly, Jesse turned, and saw his wife had her fists to her lips. Tears began coming from her eyes. Jesse walked up his wife, and gave her a hug.

"He's already looking forward to telling his cousin of his little bundle of joy once he gets out of the hospital," Nick says, looking at Jesse's kids.

"I wonder if he knows about Daisy..."

"Tom and Daisy's gone. I went to their mansion, but their car, their belongings...they're gone. I think even Gatsby has acknowledged." Nick says. "He seems to be moving on from all this though."

"Here's a little something from me as well," Wolfsheim says, pulling out his checkbook.

"Oh no. No need to-" but it was too late. Wolfsheim finished writing the check, tore it, and handed it to Jesse. Nick couldn't help but look at young Asa. And Maude.

"Your son. He looks a lot like you." Nick says, nervously swallowing, as he looked at Jesse, then at his son. Asa turned to whoever was calling his name.

"Yes. He's got his father's everything. Except his dimples." Marion turned, then pressed in Jesse's dimples.

Nick tried to look for their car. "How did you get here, anyhow?"

"We took a taxi from my sister's place. We've spent one night. I'm not sleeping in speakeasies anymore." Jesse says. Soon, another man makes his way past the crowds, came behind Jesse, then patted his shoulder.

"C'mon, chap. Ship's gonna be leavin' soon." He says, then tips his hat at Marion.

"Who was-" Nick was speechless.

"That's Charlie Chaplin; he is my next-room neighbor on this ship."

"I thought he le-" Nick began.

"I think he came back. Read all about him in the papers. Now I'm his neighbor." Jesse snorts. "We've met back at that party."

"Oh..." was all Nick could muster. Now it was starting to fall into place. He remembered seeing all those people who were drawn to Jesse that night.

"Germany's world renowned for its engineering schools there. You'll do fine there." Herzog tells Jesse.

"I'll get a cab-" Jesse began.

"No need. I'll be honored to take your wife and kids back to your sister's place." Herzog offered.

"Thanks," Jesse shook Herzog's hand, then turned to hug his wife for the final time.

"Write back lots." Marion tearfully says.

"I will." Jesse says. Then he turned back to his children for the final time.

"Take care of Mommy. Don't be too hard on her." Jesse says, hugging his children. Then he hugged his wife for the final time.

"Study hard, Jesse." Marion sniffed, then they both let go. Jesse sniffed, looked at his family for the final time, picked up his suitcase, then turned to board the ship. Herzog ran after Jesse.

"If you want, I'll bring your wife and children to see you off on your big day." Herzog says.

"Thank you." Jesse says, giving the man a final handshake. He put on his hat, slung his jacket over his shoulder, and disappeared among the crowds who were also entering the ship. The Olympic gave its final whistle blow, then began to pull away from the docks, while on the pier, Nick watched, until the ship disappeared in the horizon, along with Marion, and their two young children, who were now crying for their father, as they waved goodbye to the slowly disappearing liner.

NICK (V.O.)

Gatsby returned to full health, and resumed to hold his extravagant parties, but this time, he wasn't looking; he was just having these parties for the fun of it. Meanwhile, Jesse graduated from Germany with honors, as well as being at the top of his class. His wife and children met him at the ceremony, where they stayed in Europe, and Jesse put his knowledge of mechanics and engineering to use in West Germany. They returned home in the summer of '28, and Jesse returned to running his father's business in the Southwest...

Then, the Crash of '29 happened...
