She is lovely, Quinn thought, looking at her made up of nothing but golden smoke still next to him. She is my favorite...she remembers what this feels like. She isn't cold and broken like the others. She loves this human, in the only way she can as a Jinn.

"Max?"

She shifted, very aware of Kim holding his hand and Quinn floating there next to her. "He's still sleeping."

Quinn looked at the unconscious man and back to her wrapped protectively around him. "Max."

"I know I shouldn't be here."

"You can bring him with you. He'd follow you anywhere...he did that when you were human without magic."

"He deserves to be happy. Real happiness."

"She took away his memories. She made him stop loving you. To forget you."

"His kids…"

Quinn looked at Kim before back at her. "You know you want to."

I do, Max thought, could he still love me? We could have forever… "I would."

"Let's make it happen."

"You," Kim hissed, sensing him again. "I know you're here. Show yourself, Genie."

"Excuse me, Max," Quinn said, seeing her smoke surround him protectively.

"Why are you here?"

Quinn smiled. "How is your husband, Mistress?"

"Why hasn't he woken up yet?"

Quinn looked at Max again, as she let a smokey hand stroke his cheek and rest on his chest. "Even with the magic, he needs time to heal."

"Not good enough, Genie."

"Ah, Mistress, could you do better?" Quinn smiled, as he vanished as the door opened.

"He," Kaitlyn stammered. "He went to get changed after work and didn't come back downstairs. I found him…"

Laurie hugged her daughter. "It's okay."

You stole my husband, she thought, I hear you with him. He thinks he loves you. He never loved anyone like he loved me. She looked past her and Zachary and Matthew. My children...Kim is here too. Something happened to Kenny. My family and Laurie Bey cannot have them.

"Is he going to be okay?"

"Max."

"He's good, Quinn."

He hovered on the other side of the bed, after Kim got the news about her father. "He loved you very much."

"We had plans. Dreams. He can't love me like this and I can't love him."

"He never stopped loving you. Even when magic suppressed it, he didn't stop. I know you were happy with him."

Jinn, she thought, something long forgotten, trickster, spirit, I don't belong with humans. Kenny is too good. His kids need him. I want him. I can make him happy. "I'm not that person anymore."

"You haven't left his side."

He doesn't know I'm here. He can never know. "I'm fine."

"You never have to lie with me."

"Kenny?" she said, as she felt him move next to her. "Oh, Kenny."

"What happened?" Kim asked. "Where is Dad?"

Kaitlyn looked at her. My daughter...I know that look in her eyes. Kenny just stopped, collapsed, it smells like a genie. Max...she did this too? To punish him for...she's a freaking genie. Oh….Carter Pike called her a monster and a genie. What did she do to him? She wasn't always a genie, I know that. How did she turn into one? When? She is a monster. "Mom is with Dr. Diamond."

Kim looked at her stepsister. Mom left, Dad married Laurie two years later...that baby in the park that just appeared. Oh...Looking at Kaitlyn. Max? Is that what he did to her? Genies… "What happened?"

My husband loves me again, they can't know, not until he's better. Then we can be together. I should...Max can make him young again. No, she'll twist it all around. Don't trust her until I can control her. "He just collapsed."

"He's healed, Max."

I should leave him, she thought, I left him to save him from me. So he would be happy. He loved me, that silly and afraid human, and I loved him. I forgot how much I loved him. "Until she tries to change him again."

"I won't let that happen."

"I want him."

Quinn nodded, watching as she swirled into her human form next to him as the doctors came in. "He's yours."

He always was, Max thought, and I'll make him happier than he can ever imagine. Laying her hand on his chest, she let her magic run into him, claiming him as hers. "Mine."

"Kim, wait," Kaitlyn called, jogging after her in the hallway.

"Kenny needs me and your mom needs you."

Not my mom, she thought, I'll make Max pay for this somehow. I don't care what she is or can do. She really isn't Max anymore...how did she turn into a genie? "You've seen them too."

Kim turned and looked at her stepsister. "What?"

"Them," Kaitlyn stressed, choking on the word. "They're...We can't talk about them. They'll...they'll do things."

"I don't know what you're talking about. Them?"

"They did this to me."

"What?"

"You know we can't talk about them...They'll keep doing it."

Genies, Kim thought, looking at her stepsister. Abandoned in the park around when Max vanished...did I...She can't know. "Go find your mom. I need to check on my husband."

"Those are her brothers?"

Max looked at Jimmy Brock in bed. Oh, Kaitlyn, you nearly killed him. "Yes."

"Your human lover is fine."

I know because you fixed him, Max thought, and not for Kim. You did it for me...and now all I can hear is my calling. My magic, my duty, being a Jinn, now that I claimed him as mine. "Zach was such a brat."

My naughty Max, he thought, looking as she straddled Zach's lap and stroked his cheek. We can't deny what we are. "Max?"

She smiled at him. "He's so worried about his father, especially after his mother abandoned him."

"Abandoned, huh?"

"He thinks his stepsister is very sexy."

Quinn smiled as she whispered in Zach's ear and stood abruptly. "He's resisting you."

Max giggled despite everything. "He thinks he can."

"I was so worried," Kim sighed, squeezing his hand. Kaitlyn, Max, whoever she is, she knows about genies. Kaitlyn who just appeared in that park… "You scared us."

Kenny looked at his wife, feeling oddly disconnected from the world. Dreams,I dreamed of her...Max. I felt her next to me, talking to me, telling me I was going to be fine. That she wouldn't leave me again...my Max. I still feel her. "What...what happened?"

"The doctors aren't sure. You just stopped...Oh, Kenny."

She did this, Kenny thought, knowing it in his gut. Kim did this to me. I know she did this to me. She made me forget, she made me stop loving Max...she made Max leave me. How? "The kids?"

"They're fine. They're worried about their Daddy."

They should have been Max and mine. Kim didn't like that I wanted to find her. Don't let her know, she'll do something to me...Find Max. "I'm really tired, Kim."

"I'll be right here."

A coma, Kaitlyn thought, I saw how my mom looked at me when she heard about the bed being like it was. She knows...they aren't my parents. They've never been my parents. Max...when did she change? How? Carter knew. Our anniversary party everyone stared at her, she looked so different then, I see that now. She changed me then, she changed Jimmy then. Combing through the sites on her phone, she frowned, she doesn't live a lamp. She didn't grant me only three wishes. Carter said...Carter knew. He said his grandparents knew...we can't talk about them, they'll hurt us if we do...what else can that genie do to me? I need to stop her.

"Hello, Kenny."

Kenny stared at her after Kim finally left to go to their kids. Max, he thought, looking at her ghostly apparition. Max...in her flowing white skirt, gold bandeau top, and flowing hair. "You came back."

She smiled, happy he appreciated her physical attributes. "I never wanted to leave you."

"Where did you go?"

"Away for a bit. Will you come away with me, Kenny?"

"You look like a ghost...did she...are you alive?"

Max smiled, letting herself become solid and sitting on his bed. "Very alive."

"You look different."

"I am different."

Kenny looked at her, as she straddled him on the hospital bed. "What did Kim do to you?"

"Not yet. Come with me, Kenny."

"My kids."

They can be raised to serve the Jinn, immortal like us, they'll be ours. "Our kids now."

He nodded, caving to the beautiful Jinn in his lap. "I'd go anywhere with you."

Max smiled at that, stroking his cheek again before she smoked them away.
