This is the rest of the intro, took me longer than I thought it would tbh, but I hope you guys like it!
Shoto hated his father. He hated his life. But most of all he hated himself. He hated himself for making his mother sad when she saw his left side. He felt like he was the reason she was sent away to the hospital, away from his imoto who actually deserved their loving mother. His mother saw what he was, that must be why she burned him he thought. She knew he would eventually hurt people just like his father, and he had. The person who meant the most in the world to him, his other half. His innocent, kind twin who had reached out to help him when he was hurt and he had responded by burning her hands with Endeavor's evil fire. He hadn't meant to, but for a moment he saw his mother's crying face again as she poured boiling water on him, so he lashed out. The second the fire had left him he realized what had happened and wanted to take it back. He was thankful that their Oka-san was there to protect his imoto, prevent it from being worse. But the damage was done.
She flinched every time he looked at her now and it hurt like a knife cutting into his chest when she did but he told himself that he deserved it. He used his fire just like the old man to hurt others and now his consequence would be that the two people he loved most in the world rightfully hated and feared him. Even though he never deserved to be in a room with his Oka-san or his imoto again he was so grateful that he and his twin now spent time together. It reassured him that she was still there, that his fire hadn't burnt her away to nothing like it did in his nightmares every night. Last night was no different, in his dream his Oka-san was too slow to grab Hibiki before his flames, magnified in his mind, reached her and she burnt to ashes in front of his eyes. Even thinking about it made his heart speed up, and his hands tremble, his burn throbbing helped pull him from the terror.
Shoto raised a hand up to his chest when the pain there didn't fade. He needed to see his twin, he needed the reassurance that she wasn't burned away like in his dreams. He didn't even need to speak with her, just her presence was enough to soothe his fear. He ran to the garden, he knew now she always went out there before meeting with him. When he got there she wasn't in sight and his chest began to feel tighter and tighter, the longer it took to find her making him worried that he had imagined her survival and his nightmare might be true. When he raced to the koi pond after searching the rest of the garden he skidded to a stop when he saw that one of the bushes had been destroyed, he looked closer and saw blood on the ground and that's when his restraint broke. His sister was gone.
The whole estate heard his screams this time, the agony of missing his other half plus the remaining pain from his burn fueling his quirks as everything to his right froze and everything to his left burned. He screamed until he had no breath left and then kept screaming.
Hibiki woke up while she was being carried, disorientated and afraid. Her head was throbbing and she felt something wet matting her hair on the right side of her head. She was confused and the swaying motion of being carried on her kidnappers shoulder was making her nauseous. She just wanted her mama, she wanted to be held and loved and protected. As her emotional distress and physical discomfort reached a tipping point she opened up her mouth and screamed.
The effect was immediate. Hibiki wasn't fully in control but she wanted the man to let her go and her quirk responded, generating a pressure field around her fueled by her screams. In the midst of her tantrum she wasn't fully aware of everything happening, but she felt herself falling through space and landing harshly on the ground as the man was forced to let her go. The pitch of her screams increases with the new pain. She wasn't aware of time passing until she heard a familiar, terrifying voice piecing the haze around her.
"Hibiki, I never knew you had such power! You may even have potential as a hero to continue the Todoroki family legacy!"
Endeavor's exclamation, and even just the fact that he was there but didn't seem to care about her made her even more distressed, unknowingly increasing the pressure of the field around her. The voice that made it abruptly stop was Shoto screaming for her.
"Imoto!" He half sobbed as he ran up to her.
Once she was broken out of her state she became aware of the many adults that were surrounding her. The police were restraining her kidnapper while her Oto-san stood relatively close to her, talking to several reporters and cameras. Her view was then blocked by Shoto nearly tackling her to the ground in relief, sobbing relief as he hugged her to him. Hibiki initially flinched as he touched her, remembering the searing pain of his fire. But after a moment where nothing happened but him crying into her shoulder she tentatively wrapped her arms around him and began crying too, taking comfort in her twin like she would have before. Both of the children were unaware of the reporters 'aww'-ing and the cameras zooming in on their tearful reunion, too relieved at being together once again and the newly kindled hope that they could be as close as they once were.
Some distance away in Musutafu, two more five year olds were watching the news, waiting for a story about a hero to come on. Midoriya was excited, even with the recent tensions between him and Kacchan, they had always gotten along when discussing their favorite heroes. Bakugo on the other hand, was upset that his old hag of an Oka-san had made him invite over the useless Deku, he didn't wanna be friends with some quirkless idiot. He'd just have to bully Deku until the idiot learned to stay out of his way!
"Listen up Deku!" Bakugo was about to implement his genius plan to finally be free to the broccoli head when he was interrupted by a new story.
"Breaking news! This afternoon the youngest daughter of the number two hero Endeavor was kidnapped from her family's estate."
Both of the boys snapped their attention to the TV when they heard of the name of the second most popular hero, not wanting to miss an epic fight.
"The hero himself was notified when her brother was unable to find her and alerted adults to the situation. A widespread search of the city was quickly implemented and the young girl was found! Astonishingly, she was able to rescue herself with her quirk at only age 5 and signal for help, which quickly brought police and nearby heroes to apprehend the villain. We go now to the scene with reporters."
The TV cuts from a woman sitting behind a desk to a man holding a microphone, standing beside the Flame Hero himself, asking about the situation.
"Of course any child of mine would be able to rescue themselves from this situation, even at such a young age." Endeavor stood proudly, talking to the cameras pointed at him. Behind him the boys could see a boy and girl about their age, hugging tearfully and being checked on by a policeman. "In fact, my daughter and son are training to become heroes themselves, so they would ever be helpless in a situation like this, to carry on my family legacy. You can tell at a very young age how much potential a hero has got and mine have already shown that they will be the best of the best once properly trained!"
At that statement both of the kids looked up to their father quickly, as the reporters began to question the hero more about how this was even possible and who was behind the attack. As the hero answered the reporters questions Bakugo turned to Deku, smirking meanly at him.
"You hear that Deku? Even Endeavor says that you can tell how good or useless a hero is gonna be by our age. You're a quirkless guppy, how could you expect to save even yourself? Even that crying girl is stronger than you are!"
Midoriya's eyes welled with tears and he tilted his head down slightly in shame, "I guess…" he sniffed, still he tried to steer the conversation towards friendlier territory.
"I wonder what their quirks are, if she can already save herself from villains. I bet Endeavor's kids are gonna be really powerful and cool heroes in the future!" he prompted the temperamental blonde nervously.
Bakugo sneered but accepted the change in conversation, turning back to the TV to get a better look at the two kids who were now standing next to their father before they left. "Bet they aren't as good as mine!" He boasted, "I'm gonna be the number one hero and they'll be below me, just like Endeavor always is below All Might!"
"Yeah!" Midoriya exclaimed, happy that he had restored the peace, but having a sinking feeling in his gut that maybe his relationship with the explosive blonde was going to fall apart no matter what he did. But! He resolved to himself, Heroes never give up! So maybe this is just what I need to do to prove I can still be one!
One Month Later:
Hibiki and Shoto, bandages freshly removed, held each other as they tried to fall asleep. Ever since Shoto had found her missing he would be in a near panic if she wasn't within easy reach. While Endeavor was annoyed by their new phobia, he to some degree understood, finding himself searching out and checking on the twins regularly now in slight paranoia that one or both would be kidnapped again. In addition, security at the estate was increased and neither twin was allowed to leave the property anymore, further isolating them.
The twins were facing each other, apprehension for the next day keeping them awake, as with them both now fully healed Endeavor had decided they were to resume training. Hibiki was now included due to the traumatic discovery of her quirks offensive power. Shoto tightly gripped his imoto as he obsessively thought about how he failed to protect her. He had even hurt her! He knew with the training her pain would only continue. He had failed at being her onii-san. But the readily summoned memory of the pain and terror at her being taken away prevented him from distancing himself from her. He silently vowed from now on to always protect her, from everything. He knew he couldn't defeat his father now, but he would train to do so one day, to protect his imoto from anyone who could cause her pain.
Hibiki, meanwhile, was thinking about her newly healed burns. After a month, with the pain of her injuries and effectively losing her mother having decreased, she was able to think about what happened more clearly. She recalled the panic, confusion and pain in her twins eyes when he had lashed out and now she thought she understood. He hadn't known that he was hurting her, the way he reacted after made that obvious. She loved her brother and she knew he loved her, so she told herself that she needed to get over it, without Oka-san to protect them they needed to stick together and they wouldn't be able to if she was angry at her other half for something he hadn't even meant to do. She took the first steps to forgiving him and gripped him tighter. Feeling him do so in return, she knew that nothing would ever be able to separate them again, neither would allow it.
One Year Later (Now 6 Years Old):
Hibiki hit the ground harshly, the air leaving her lungs resulting in her gasping for breath. She felt like her body was weighed down and everything ached.
"Again!" Endeavor yelled harshly, "You are going to do this over and over without rest until you do it correctly!"
Hibiki bit back whines of pain, having learned that Endeavor only pushed her harder when she showed that she was struggling, and forced her limbs to move. She slowly rose back to her feet, stumbling slightly before righting herself, and half-slid, half-fell into the starting position of the exercises they were running through and started again. She was nearly a year behind her twin in terms of physical conditioning and quirk training, and Endeavor was ruthlessly making her catch up. She was doing stretches, push-ups, sit-ups, sprints, crunches, and it seemed like every week he added a new exercise to the regimen.
While most children at their age still had baby fat and moved clumsily as they grew, both Shoto and now Hibiki were quickly losing the last of theirs and moving with a grace that had been drilled into them. In addition to the tutoring that they received (Endeavor having decided that their primary school would be conducted at home until he was satisfied that anyone behind the kidnapping was captured and the twins were more capable of defending themselves) they were trained relentlessly.
Hibiki nearly sighed with relief as she finally made it through the series of movements without falling or stumbling, but that only lasted a second as Endeavor began the next part of training. Since they were both still young and working out the nuances of their quirks, Endeavor devoted a good portion of their training to testing their limits and potential uses of them. Shoto was made to work with his ice and fire, manipulating the temperatures, and producing as much as possible. He had progressed to the point where only Endeavor could be in the room with him as he did so, as Hibiki wasn't able to withstand the extreme temperatures. This relieved both the twins, as they still got nervous when Hibiki was near flames.
Hibiki, meanwhile, was made to manipulate sounds. At first it was using her voice to create the pressure that she had saved herself with, but with Endeavors ruthless pushing she soon discovered new aspects of her quirk. Such as her ability to actually produce pressurized soundwaves from her body without needing to scream, although her clothes had often torn from the area where they were produced. Thus Endeavor trained her to emit them only from specific areas of her body such as her hands and feet. They had also discovered that different pitches of sound had different effects, such as when a low-pitched noise leveled a wall by accident and a high pitched one sent a rack of weights shooting across the room. Lastly they had found that she was sensitive to sound, and was able to locate things and people based on how they distributed the sonic vibrations. Endeavor made her train this ability by doing a portion of her training blindfolded and having her dodge projectiles he would randomly send without warning.
In the Hospital Room:
Hibiki ran up to her mother and hugged her sobbing, relishing in the way her Oka-san cooed at her as she smoothed her now short hair, Hibiki having not grown it out again since it was burnt. Her mother had been treated for what Hibiki now understood was a breakdown, and despite her seeming to be perfectly healthy to her daughter she would never be able to come home due to Endeavor. Even just to visit her once every few months Hibiki would have to prove mastery over a new skill she had been assigned, while Shoto never asked to go, claiming he would only make her worse when Hibiki asked why.
"How are you my lovely snowflake?" Rei asked her daughter gently, fussing over the fresh bruises she could see from the harsh training.
"I'm ok Mama" Hibiki reassured her, knowing how her mother worried about their father training them without her to intercede when it went too far. "So is Shoto" she added, watching her mother's face fall slightly in guilt before smiling again. "He doesn't blame you, he never did," she said quickly, trying to ease her mother's feelings.
"He should," Rei said quietly, staring out the window, as her mind grew clearer so did her guilt over what she did to her youngest son, who suffered just as much as she did from her husband.
"No, if anyone is to blame it is Oto-san!" Hibiki argued. She was sick and tired of both her onii-san and her Oka-san blaming themselves for the Incident, as she had begun calling it in her head. As far as she was concerned neither had meant the harm they had caused and their guilt was only hurting them more.
"Let's not discuss it," Rei interjected, seeing how Hibiki was working herself up. She moved the discussion away to more neutral topics; what Hibiki and Shoto had learned, what flowers were blooming in the garden now, and whether her stuffed animals had resolved the argument they had before she had visited last time. Hibiki loved her visits with her mother as she allowed her to feel like she was a little kid again, blocking out the hospital surroundings and pretending they were sitting together on her bed at home. She knew that these visits were helping her get through her Oto-sans brutal training and that made her even more sad that her twin refused to come. She was concerned about how hard Shoto was pushing himself and how he still walked on eggshells around her when using his left side, knowing that she was still scared around the fire when he or Endeavor used it. She resolved to herself that she would get over her fear and become a hero to protect her onii-san, to give him the same relief that visiting their Oka-san gave her. Maybe one day they could visit together! Now that she had discovered her quirks potential, and she knew that she could use it to save people, she would never allow him to be hurt that way again.
Like I said in the first part, intro starts off very angsty but by the end it's less so, and the kids experience some resolution (though this will not be the last time they have to deal with what happened, promise)
Also, I threw in some Bakugo! I hope that didn't seem too strange. He seemed like a bit of a brat when he was young so I tried my best. (PSA: I do not agree with the girl comment, but it seems like something a five year old boy would insult another five year old boy with)
After this I will jump ahead to teenage years, but it will take me longer to update in the future as:
A) I'm in the US (unfortunately) and classes are starting which is sure to not end well and dealing with it will be time consuming
B) My job restarts again soon which is also somewhat time consuming
and, lastly but most enjoyably
C) I need to rewatch the episodes to make sure I remember everything that happens and to get the dialogue and such, plus figure out what changes and what doesn't with my OC there
So it will likely take some time but I have not given up yet so the story will continue! If I ever do give up or need to put it off til after the semester I will post about it and not leave you in perpetual update limbo.
