A few days later, Michael and KITT were on their first mission. A local ranch had been dealing with thieves stealing their livestock. Michael was atop KITT as the two rode down the side of the road.

"Uuuh…."

"Michael, surely you know the answer to this question."

"KITT, I'm not skilled in horse trivia!"

"As the saying goes, 'crack open a book once in a while'.."

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me."

Michael sighed, he knew this would be a long day. Finally arriving at the ranch, he talked to the owner.

"Hello, who might you be?" The owner was apparently a blonde woman.

"My name is Michael Knight, I work for the Foundation for Law and Government."

"Why are you here, then?" The woman raised an eyebrow.

"Because your livestock is being stolen. And I want to do a little investigating."

"Go ahead. Oh, by the way, I'm Marie." Marie walked into the barn.

"Okay KITT, let's look around." Michael looked around the whole ranch for anything that could tell them why this was happening. They found nothing, so they asked Marie about anything else unusual.

"Well," she began. "There's a company buying land out here, and they offered me a deal on my land. But I said no. After that, large trucks have been coming and stealing my livestock!"

Michael immediately got a hunch. "Marie, I think that the company may be trying to run you off the land so they can have it."

Marie looked at Michael as if he had just said the craziest thing on earth. "Michael, you can't be serious!"

"I AM serious! But I need evidence before I can make a clear accusation, what's the name of the company?"

"It's called 'Tomorrow Inc.', they make parts for cars, electronics, all sorts of things. They're about 10 miles from here."

"Thanks, come on KITT!" Michael and KITT took off.

"Michael, when we get there, there is a voice recorder in my saddlebag."

"To record evidence?"

"Yes. There is also a camera. If we are lucky, these guys may the culprits, they won't be smart at hiding their intentions, and we can finish this quickly."

"You sound a little too hopeful."

"Perhaps, but the sooner we get back, the sooner you can clean my hooves and fur."

Michael groaned.

They arrived at Tomorrow Inc. Michael took the voice record and camera. He walked in. Seeing no receptionist, he waited. Then he heard something from the other room.

"But sir! The police are starting to get involved in this!" A man said.

"I don't care! I want that land! I didn't get rich by being nice! Get in those trucks and take what's left! And then she'll have to give up!" Another man yelled.

Michael recorded the conversation, then took pictures of the large trucks out back, which just so happened to be filthy. And wouldn't you know it? Full of animals. After taking the pictures, Michael went to a nearby phone booth and told Devon what he had found. Within less than a day, Michael solved his first case.

Later, he was brushing KITT's fur and mane.

"Michael?"

"Yes KITT?"

"Is it me, or did we finish that case rather quickly?"

"Yes, But the evidence is rock solid. And with the company admitting it, I don't see why it's a bad thing. Besides, now we're home."

"I suppose you're right. I guess this day isn't as bad as we thou-"

- CRASH! -

"What was that!?"

"I'll go inside and check!" Michael ran inside, and found the CEO of Tomorrow Inc. holding Devon at gunpoint on the second floor! Michael ran up and pinned him down. Two guards came and took the man away.

"Devon? Are you alright?"

"Yes, Michael….that was most unpleasant."

Bonnie ran in, seeing the mess. "What happened!?"

"Devon got held at gunpoint, but everything is fine now."

"Michael! How can you say that so calmly!?"

"Because I can."

"I agree."

Everyone turned and faced KITT, who standing next to them…..on the second floor of the mansion.

"KITT?"

"Yes, Bonnie?"

"How did you get up the stairs?"

"I climbed them?"

"How? Those steps aren't big."

"It wasn't easy."

"Okay, but how are you going to get DOWN the stairs?"

KITT, being a horse with a modified brain, gave wide eyes and looked back at the stairs.

"Um…..I might need some help."
