Whoops! I accidentally posted my rough draft first instead of my revised version... Here's the real version.
Warning to any who's read the other entries in this series: THIS IS A HORROR STORY. It has pretty much no humor, unlike the previous entries.
All For One walked down the empty street. The sun was down, the moon was full, the street lights were lit, and the Shimura residence stood before him. He'd come here a few times with Inko. This would be the first one without her. This would be the first one he'd truly enjoy.
The set of events culminating in what was about to happen started mere days ago, when he'd gotten a call from a very distressed Inko. Apparently, for reasons he couldn't fathom, she had decided to visit her "dear" brother and tell him about her reunion with their mother. It had gone as well as one would expect. It was lucky All For One had not been there. Knowing his brother-in-law, he might have exposed his identity. But that wasn't what truly disturbed Inko.
She had also heard some unfortunate details regarding Shimura's "parenting". Things like locking Tenko outside for playing hero. And a few other things regarding Kotaro's treatment of his children, especially when heroes were involved. She confronted him (not using the a-word of course, but still strongly condemning some of his methods). She was forced to leave, terrified that her brother may have become an emotional abuser to his children.
Hence her call to him for advice and support.
"I-I don't know what to do. I think he might be abusing them (emotionally not physically), but what if he's not? How could he?! He's my brother! And the others! Why aren't they doing anything?! Are they cowards, or have they not realized how bad this is?! Maybe I'm overreacting? But what if I'm not? (sob) What do I do Hisashi?! Should I call the authorities? If he's innocent I'll have falsely accused my own brother, and if he's guilty and they don't have enough to prove it then I might've just made things worse! I need a definitive way to help Tenko and Hana! But if he's guilty and I do nothing then I'll have abandoned them!"
"Hmmm don't call the authorities yet, wait a few days. In the meantime, I will see what I can find on what to do. You know I'm quite good at researching things. Don't worry Inko, I fully believe everything will turn out for the best."
She let out a large sigh. "Thank-you Hisashi. I hope you're right. Tenko and Hana's well-being may depend on it!
"You can count on me Inko." he said before hanging up the phone with a cold smirk.
He had sent her some basic research. Nothing all that important, but enough to assure her he was looking into it while "working overseas". Meanwhile he prepared to settle it his way.
Before now, he had not made a move against the Shimuras because of Inko. Firstly, her brother's death would upset her. Second, she was highly intelligent and if she deduced he was responsible…he would prefer not to dwell on that. Besides, he had enjoyed their passive aggressive holiday card battles. But now she would be so disgusted at her brother and so relieved to have his child in her arms that she would not spare a second thought to the timing.
So, here he stood, days later, ready to finally have the "talk" with Kotaro Shimura he had always wanted. Making sure nobody was watching, he activated Shadow Stealth and stepped into the house's shadow. He activated an eavesdropping quirk and listened. Apparently, Kotaro had actually used violence on Tenko. Unexpected, but not unwelcome. Inko would certainly be happy to have his children when she learned that. His wife, Nao, was apparently issuing an ultimatum to him to reform or she'd leave with the two. He seemed regretful of his actions.
Oh Nao. If only you had taken a stand before Inko came, this may have been prevented. But now he was here. And Inko would never need to know that this conversation had taken place.
Tenko was crouching in the backyard clutching his dog, Mon.
"I hate everybody," he said.
More perfect than he could have hoped.
Hana walked out. "Tenko?" He didn't look at her. "I know I'm the one who took us to see that picture, and still told them it was you. So, I'm s-" All For One snuck behind her and grabbed the back of her neck, activating one of his quirks. Within a few seconds, she had fallen into a deep sleep. Tenko started to look up, but before he could process anything the same was done to him.
There would be no reconciliation tonight.
He went back into the shadows, leaving the sleeping children to be found and taken to bed. The lights of the house slowly went off. The lights in the other houses soon followed. The neighborhood slept.
It was time.
All For One activated his jamming quirk to jam all telecommunications on this block. No help could be called until it was far too late. All For One walked up to the glass sliding door, pressed all five fingers to it, and activated Decay. The glass crumbled away into tiny shards. He stepped into the house. He activated Primitive State, a quirk that would force another quirk to function in its most basic form, using it on Decay. Now it would function the same as it would when it first came in for a child. He walked down the hall, letting his fingers brush against the wall. Cracks spiderwebbed out from his fingertips, but he pulled his hand back before the damage became too severe. Wouldn't want to wake anyone. Mon ran up to him, sniffed him, then walked away, recognizing All For One. He slunk up the stairs to the bedrooms. He first stopped at the children's rooms.
Inko would take the girl. She would love to raise a little girl. They already had a boy. They didn't need another. So, he picked up Hana and carried her a few blocks before setting her down on the sidewalk. Everyone would assume she had fled the disaster before fainting from shock. They would attribute her lack of any memory of it to trauma.
He had his own plans for Tenko. He left him in his room.
He walked to the grandparents' room. They were dead before they had a chance to wake.
He finally entered the parents' room. There the two parents slept. Apparently, his apology was enough to save him from the couch. Though it seemed Nao was trying to sleep at the furthest edge of the bed from him, and stealing all of the covers. He walked right next to her head. All For One used Decay on her. Like her parents, she fell to pieces.
He walked to the other side of the bed and jabbed Kotaro Shimura's shoulder. With two fingers.
Kotaro woke up to someone poking him? Was Tenko having another nightmare? He looked and saw…Inko's husband?
Hisashi Midoriya stepped a few feet away from Kotaro. "When you're someone like me you pick up a thing or two. Especially about ideas of good and evil. Did you know that some schools of thought believe that those who perform far less evil deeds may avoid some horrible acts not necessarily because they are better, but because they have no interest in doing them? In essence, according to this, a man like you may not actually be any more moral than, well maybe not me (where your children aren't concerned), but a hardened murderer perhaps."
Kotaro sat up, his eyes narrowed. "What are you talking about Hisashi? And what are you doing in my hou-" His hand felt something…wet and…warm.
Slowly turning to look Hisashi saw a pile of fleshy chunks, mixed in with the remains of clothes and a pile of brown hair where the head should be. Nao.
Horrified he turned to Hisashi who was giving him a malicious grin.
"Hello, brother-in-law." He grabbed Kotaro's throat. "Shall we have a little chat?"
All For One activated Muted, taking Kotaro Shimura's power to speak. Shimura clutched his own throat and desperately tried to make a sound.
"You know what I hate about you, Kotaro Shimura? Your treatment of Inko, your relation to her mother, your "winning" personality? Well yes. But I think it's also how petty you are. You seek complete control. That is why you built this house, why you brought Nao's parents here and why you treat Tenko the way you do. You attack Tenko because he dares defy your control. Yet, this family is all you control. You do not seek to expand your influence. You built a mere castle. I built an empire. My family are the crown jewels of my kingdom, yours are the subjects to keep under heel, because who else could you rule? You only have them and any employees you might have at your business. You are a tyrant too small-minded to expand his borders."
Kotaro stared at him with a combination of doubt, guilt, and fear.
"When you were young, did you ever ask yourself why heroes need to fight and sometimes die? Why your father died? Why your mother abandoned you?"
Kotaro stared.
"I am the answer to all three."
Kotaro's eyes got even wider.
"After I had your pathetic father killed, your mother sent you away because she feared I would kill you." All For One grinned at him. "And you know what? She was right. I would have killed you to create even greater suffering for her. I probably would have ordered my men not to kill you, just so I could do it myself. And bathe in the look on your mother's face as the light faded from your eyes when I crushed the life from your little body! And yet, where did her oh so noble sacrifice lead you? Right back into my sights. This time less an attempt to break the champions of good, but a favor to my beloved wife who was very concerned about the wellbeing of your children (not that she knows I'm doing this). Now I allow me to introduce myself…professionally, Kotaro Shimura. I am All For One, the Symbol of Evil, and the Dark Emperor of the Criminal Underworld.
The terror in his eyes was so gratifying. All For One decided to let him speak (a privilege he'd revoke if the man tried to scream).
"…You're a monster."
All For One broke into a fit of giggling. "I know." He recomposed himself, and smiled.
"Now, do not fear, Kotaro Shimura. I have no plans on killing you. None at all."
Tenko's eyes shot open. He wasn't in his room. He was in…the front yard? He looked around. It was dark, but he saw their house right next to him. There was a gigantic hole where the door should be, debris lying all around the yard, in front of a big hole. Why was he outside? Why was the house so damaged? Was it a villain?! Then he saw the fleshy chunks in front of him. They looked like- Were they-? He started to get up, putting his hands on the ground, and everything around him started crumbling…
From the shadows, his feet levitating a few feet off the ground, All For One watched as Tenko laid eyes on the bodies of his mother and grandparents. Watched as he placed his hands on the ground, causing it to decay beneath him. Watched as Tenko's new quirk caused a wave a destruction and decay to slowly branch out from where his hand touched the ground, breaking apart everything it touched. Watched as Tenko finally noticed his father.
Kotaro Shimura lay in the middle of the sidewalk, his feet decayed to nothingness along with most one leg, and part of his side (All For One may have gotten carried away brutalizing him). Tenko's wave of destruction was nearing him. All For One had a hunch. Most people when faced with peril would react with fight or flight. If Kotaro Shimura tried to escape he would be overtaken and destroyed by the wave of decay. Now, most parents were so against harming their children that even as a reflex they would hesitate. Most parents weren't Kotaro Shimura.
Hence the weed clipper left right next to him.
To All For One's delight as little Tenko reached out with one hand to plead for his father's help, Kotaro Shimura picked up the clipper and struck his son in the face with it.
All For One had suspected, but he hadn't believed that would actually work. Tenko ignored his father's pleas for him to stop and instead rose up, his hand leaving the ground. He looked at the ground and at his hand, and All For One knew he had figured it out. Tenko yelled in rage and lunged at his father, his hand outstretched.
All For One stood back, recording this important moment in Tenko's life on his phone, reveling in the look of terror and regret on Kotaro Shimura's face as Tenko reached down and placed his hand on his face.
And like that, Kotaro Shimura died. Tenko laughed uncontrollably at his first murder, as he continued to press his hands down, creating another wave of decay that destroyed his father's body and continued expanding past where All For One was floating.
After this, All For One would let him wander for a few days, maybe creating villain attacks so no hero rescued him. Let him be at the mercy of the "good citizenry" who'd all ignore him. Then All For One would "rescue" him and take him under his wing. But that was later. For now-
Tenko laughed harder and harder his wave of destruction reached the house and tore it apart, while his hands were still covered in what was left of Father.
-he was just so happy to share this important moment with his nephew.
Author's Notes: Hope you enjoyed! (as much as you enjoy horrible crimes being committed)
Fun fact: I actually came up with this before the previous entry (and was going to write it first too), but I felt if I went straight from how this one ended to how the other one started it would be a HUGE letdown. So I decided to make it a prequel!
If you liked then please feel free to tell me by leaving a review!
