"911 operator, what's your emergency?"

Shinsou sat slouched over his chair, gazing at the monitor with tired eyes that twitched irritably at the annoying bright light that lit his little cubical.

The whole office had gone home, save for the handful scheduled for the nightshift.

But not him, no he just had to work overtime.

His desk was a cluttered mess of papers and empty coffee cups, a magazine splayed open off to one side barely managing to stay put with the way it hung half off the side.

On it was an advertisement listed in bold writing with a giant picture of some sort of limited edition All Might figurine.

He didn't exactly know which one, all he knew was he needed to get it.

Glancing down Shinsou stared at it for a moment, motivation breaching the exhaustion that banged in his head like a hammer.

He kept that page open, looking down at it whenever he was near the breaking point- Whenever that voice in the back of his head convinced him he could just go home, forget work, worry about it all later.

His desire to see that contagious bright smile as he walked through the door, the way his green eyes lit up as he sat down to whatever frozen dinner- or leftovers he managed to not burn- his whole demeanour practically sparkling when he told him all about the people he saved and the fans he met, the soft blush on his face as they climbed into bed together, his light snores as he buried his messy hair into his chest unknowingly.

That desire was overwhelming to the point it left a tingling in his feet that wanted him to walk out that door and see his dorky little face waiting for him with that silly expression of his saying, 'Welcome home!'

He didn't realise he was smiling as his thoughts drifted and he wanted nothing more than to go home and see him again.

His body practically itching to pull him into a hug, lacing his fingers around that mop of hair that was so comfortingly soft to play with.

God he wanted to go home.

His eyes glanced back down at the magazine, a jittery excitement rushing through his veins that curled his tired lips into another smile and his eyes glinted with a mischievous joy.

But that teary-eyed overwhelmed look of surprise would be worth all the sleepless nights listening to drunk kids pulling stupid pranks, or those irritating people who just didn't understand what the word, 'Emergency,' really meant.

"Hello, is anyone there?"

He repeated himself through the microphone attached to his ear, expecting a sudden burst of laughter and a, 'Oh my god you actually did it!' But all he got in return was some faint noise and what sounded like shuffling of some kind.

'Another prank call,' he thought to himself, mentally rolling his eyes as his hand hovered over ending the connection.

A muffled huff broke through the phone's silence followed by a squeaking choke that sent Shinsou from his slouched position to a rigid realisation.

This wasn't a prank call.

"What's your location? Can you speak- are you injured?"

A creaking groan filled his banging head with a shuddering noise as a hacking cough followed.

"You know," the voice on the line paused, a scratchy sound weighing it down as the words were slightly slurred together with the strain.

"You sound pretty cool over the phone."

The voice gave a dry laugh as Shinsou's eyebrows furrowed together.

"Sir-" he thought the voice was a male but he couldn't exactly be sure with how quiet they were, "-What's your situation, how bad are your injuries?"

The voice on the other line gave another muffled laugh that broke away into yet another fit of coughs.

Finally the gasping sounds died down.

"Awe I'm hurt, you don't recognise me Hoshi~"

His heartbeat quickened as his stomach dropped in such a sickening way that it felt like some form of black tar was residing in the pit of his stomach.

His eyes, no longer irritated from lack of sleep, were opened so wide it was hard to see the bags under them as his breathing hitched with the shaky fingers that suddenly were brought to his mouth covering it from the sheer nauseating shock that consumed him.

"I-" He couldn't bring himself to say it, his voice trembling just as badly as the rest of him as he sat frozen in place- His professional tone vanishing in that instant of recognition.

"-Izu?" He barely gasped the words out, hearing a tired chuckle from the other line.

"Yeah it's me, I sound pretty different don't I? Don't worry I forgive you for not realising~" Izuku muttered in a quiet voice, trailing off as dust lodged in his throat causing him to start another hacking fit.

"Wait! Are you hurt!? Where are you? I'll send an ambulance, stay on the line with me!" All at once Shinsou regained composure of himself, worry overtaking the terrifying shock he felt that shook his core as he heard that same groaning creak from the beginning.

Izuku only chuckled again, " 's-okay," he slurred, the syllables jumbling together barely recognisable, "People already know I'm here."

'Here!? Where's here!' Hitoshi wanted to scream but he couldn't find his voice, something about Izuku felt so deathly wrong that he felt a fear so sickening that he could barely breathe.

"I just wanted to hear your voice."

He heard Izuku hum, a sound that jolted Shinsou back to reality as his mind drifted off into terrifying scenarios and questions.

"Me-" he had to pause, the room felt so tiny- so constrictive, "-Me too."

"So how was work?"

A sour taste filled his mouth as he tripped over his own words, "It was fine, we had a call from an old lady who thought a monster was in her house."

He heard Izuku chuckle, a dry, broken sound that was more like a wheeze than a laugh.

"It turned out it was her neighbour's cat."

On the other side Izuku sputtered as he laughed, a scratchy noise that was cut off by the screeching groan that sounded louder than before.

"Izuku?"

"Yeah Hitoshi?"

He paused, the words, 'Are you alright?' Dying on his lips as his eyes suddenly felt heavy with a wetness he wasn't use to.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

Without another word a nightmarish noise engulfed the call, screeching sounds of metal clunking together and the horrific noise of something crashing in on itself echoed through the mic turning the shrieks to static from the sheer intensity of it.

A dull buzz like beep was the only remains of the call.

His ears ringing from the phantom noise still haunting him.

He didn't even have time to process what he just heard when a vibration caused him to turn his eyes downwards.

His phone intertwined in the pockets of his pants, the light casting a blue glow as he lifted it up and felt his mouth go dry.

'BREAKING NEWS: HERO DEKU TRAPPED IN COLLAPSED BUILDING'

мore coverage coмιng ѕoon

Hello!

Welcome to my new story! I'm so excited to have a side story to my main one (It was driving me crAzy only working on one) but I couldn't exactly place what second story I wanted to do~~

Especially since I'm a hardcore multishipper who can't decide what's their favourite~

So yeah, oneshots! I dunno if that's popular for fanfic but oh well I like 'em lol

Anyways I had a lot of fun writing this and hope you have fun reading it!

If you have any Oneshot ideas you'd like to see comment away! I like a challenge so I don't have a single restriction to what you can request~~

Whether I write it all depends on the time I've got (cries in broke college student noises) and if I can manage it! :D

Welp hope you have an awesome day and thanks for reading!
