The wind blew through his hair, the tiny yellow strands tangling with one another getting caught in the corners of his mouth irritably.

But he didn't seem to mind as he stared outwards.

The wooden beam beneath his feet creaked under his weight, his hand gripping the coarse rope that would've caused blisters if not for his heavily calloused hands.

It would've been terrifying. Standing that high up on unstable ground, with only a single rope keeping you steady.

But he wasn't bothered one bit.

Because the sky was just above him.

It was so close that if he reached out, it'd feel like he could intertwine his fingers with the clouds.

It made him want to sigh from the sight, but he wasn't there to enjoy the view- as stunning as the ocean was, glistening with the red light of the morning sky dotted by purple splotches.

He stayed for a second, taking it in, the way the ocean went on forever, the water shining as it lapped quietly below him.

Without a word he grinned a toothy grin that glinted in his eyes, jumping from the beam while still holding onto the rope as he slid down with a rushed hiss.

He passed the billowing sails that silhouetted his body as he plummeted, the speed pushing his hair up wildly from the rush.

Within seconds his feet were planted on the deck with a tap as his shipmates gave him a quick glance before returning to their duties.

His smile widely on his face as his vision suddenly went dark and he sputtered as he lifted the thing that covered his head, peaking at his assailant.

"You're the Captain, start acting like one and stop leaving your hat in weird places."

He grinned at his firstmate, a goofy smile reaching the sparkles in his eye as he gave a wink and took the oversized hat- Decorated with an elegant black feather pinned to the side and a golden trim edging along the black fabric.

"Awe Jirou~ You know I hate this thing~" He whined placing the hat on her head, the thing looking just as ridiculous on her as it did him.

"Anyway you know it suits you better!" He laughed as she just sighed, but made no move to take it off.

"Kaminari, you're an idiot. How in the world do you even manage to run this ship."

With that same goofy grin he threw an arm around her shoulder, wheeling her away towards the bow.

"Well that's cause I've got my wonderful firstmate! You do all the work and I get to be your lovable Idiot Captain!"

She sighed again, this time removing the hat and setting it on his head gently. Though it was a bit extravagant for his ordinary appearance, she had to admit it looked good on him.

"You're an idiot," she muttered as he laughed, the sound resonating around them startling the quiet morning air.

"You know you love me!" He winked giving her a finger gun as she rolled her eyes, a faint smile on her lips as she looked out into the sea.

"So did you see anything?"

Kaminari hummed, pouting his lips out as he leaned on the railing looking at the same nonexistent point as she was.

"Nothing good, looks like a storm's coming."

She groaned, throwing her head back in frustration, "You've got to be kidding me, we just had one three days ago!"

Denki shrugged haphazardly a coy smile traced on his mouth.

"Can't be helped, you know how the sea is, she's a bitch and a half but you gotta love her!" He winked again as Jirou punched his arm aggressively.

"You idiot! Wha'll we do if we damage something! We can't exactly go into port right now! Be a bit more serious would you!?" She scolded him as he just stood there taking her weak blows of irritation as if a fly was buzzing around his head.

"Well, then we'll go to port! It'll work out!" He laughed as she glared daggers into him.

"In case you seemed to forget, Idiot Captain, we're wanted pirates."

He raised an eyebrow and she felt the overwhelming urge to punch him again, "Yeah well that's just a detail~"

He laughed, but before she could say anything one of their crew bounded over with terror in her eyes, her pink hair a mop of curls that bounced as she ran, her clothes completely disheveled.

"Captain-" she gasped for breath doubling in on herself, Kaminari didn't say anything while he waited with concerned eyes as she looked up at him with sweat dripping down her face.

"Captain there's a ship! Off the astern side! It looks imperial!"

She shouted as Jirou jumped, a stern look plastered to her face.

"Shit, Mina you sure!?"

The pink haired girl nodded harshly, throwing her head back and forth.

A giant grin spread across his face but his eyes didn't carry it, there was a hint of seriousness residing there, even worry as he jumped from his spot and pushed his sleeves up.

"That so? Well we'll give those dogs a run for their money!" He shouted, his energy infectious as Mina's eyes sparkled with a mischievousness that made her glow.

"Right!" She shouted back, turning tail and running to tell the rest of the crew.

"Kaminari." Jirou turned to him, her voice low as she stared him down.

"We can't fight them and win. We're already undermanned, and undergunned for that matter."

His usually aloofness hadn't left him as he nodded, "Exactly."

That took Jirou back, shocked more so that he agreed with her than anything.

"Then what?-"

"We can't run, we're undermanned and she's not doing well," he patted the side of his vessel, the ship was his pride and joy, they'd been through hell and back together.

"I need you to make the preparations, ready the dingy with the essentials, I'll set the gunpowder to blow."

"You're not saying what I think you are," she said slowly narrowing her eyes at him, "if you are, you really are an Idiot Captain."

"Awe getting all emotional are we Ji?~" He laughed in such a way that it almost made her believe that this would all work out.

But that's the stuff of fairytales.

Nothing ever worked out for them, that's why they did what they did.

"I'm serious though Jirou," his smile dropped and he stared at her intently, "As your Captain I'm not letting anyone of you die for something as stupid as this."

Her words caught in her throat but she pushed it down, this wasn't the time to be acting like some love struck little girl.

"What about you? You think we'd just leave you? I'm not the only one who isn't going to stand for that."

His smile turned soft as he took his hat and ruffled her hair, setting the thing on her head, "I know," Jirou was just as important to him as his own ship- Maybe even more so, "But hey come on now it isn't like that! We're just separating momentarily! You know I'll meet up with you guys again once I give these bob tails the slip!"

He gave her a hug, the feather of the hat tickling his nose as he pulled away, "Okay enough of these sappy sentiments, unless you want to continue this elsewhere~" He gave her a playful wink as her face heated up and she punched him in the arm.

"You're an ass Denki."

His grin grew ten fold as he followed her down the steps of the ship to the main deck on her heels like a dog.

"Wait! Hey! You just called me by my first name!" He pointed at himself, his eyes sparkling as Jirou smirked and crossed her arms.

"I've no idea what you're talking about."

A groan escaped his lips as his body convulsed with a shiver. He felt cold all over, an irritating slapping sound bringing him from his fading consciousness to the dark water in front of him.

"Sh-" his teeth chattered as his eyes went wide and a wave overtook him. His mouth filling with the chilled salty water that he spat back at the sea with a gasp, "shit," he trailed off.

The moon was the only source of light he had, the navy ink of the sea covering most of his vision as he clutched the-?

He looked down squinting his eyes at the splintery wood keeping him afloat.

"Ah, okay," he muttered, a sad feeling weighing him down.

He remembered now.

After he teased Jirou that's when the fight broke out, she managed to get everyone to the dingy but none of them wanted to leave.

Mina even had to be knocked out, she was so hysterical about the idea of them splitting up.

That scuffed up boat was their home, they were their only family. It had always been them against the world.

It was no wonder they didn't want to leave.

And he blew her up.

Right as the enemy ship was in view, the expressionless yet smug face of that infamous two haired Captain leering at him from above the mast, right as they locked eyes- he'd done it.

For dramatic effect really, but it was still satisfying nonetheless.

That man's crew was just itching to bring his head to the capital, but he'd rather the ocean take him anyday than that entitled bastard.

The terror in their eyes as he flipped them off, lighting the trail of gunpowder as he jumped into the sea.

It was entirely worth it.

The explosion blasted him downwards, nearly knocking the air from his lungs as something sharp pierced his leg making him want to cry out from the pain.

The rest was a blur, but he wasn't dead yet.

"Least I took those pathetic excuses for seamen with me," he muttered with a dry laugh to no one in particular.

"Wonder what they're up to right now? Bet Jirou's worried to death."

The splashing sound of the ocean was his only response.

He drifted like that until morning, clinging to the piece of his ship as the ocean took him to god knows where.

"Damn I'm hungry, would kill for- I'm so hungry I don't even know what I'd want, but I'd eat the crap out of it," his voice had gone scratchy from the lack of water.

A light mist hung over the sea, it was blinding, but to be fair it wasn't like he could see anything without the mist there anyways.

A splash drew his attention upwards, but he couldn't see what made the noise.

"Oh don't be a shark please don't be a shark, I hate sharks," he held the board harshly, the shreds of waterlogged wood digging into his swollen hand.

Another splash and Denki's nervousness grew despite himself.

"I don't suppose whatever's out there will answer me will it? Heeello! Is there a fishie out there tha'd like to be eaten?~" He called, the shout stinging his throat and he internally felt like an idiot for straining his already itching voice.

The quiet sounds of the ocean was his only response as he sighed and laid his head on the board.

He closed his eyes for a second but something felt strange.

Like he was being watched.

Scrunching his eyebrows together he slowly opened his eyes, freezing as a red blob stared him down right in front of him.

Shocked he jolted up, the blob disappearing as he let go of the board and sputtered as the ocean overtook him.

Gasping for breath his head bobbed above the small waves, barely able to tread water as he searched for the board.

Cursing silently he looked but was unable to find it.

'I'm gonna die here, I'm gonna drown and no one will ever know,' he thought bitterly as another wave capsized him and he choked on the salty water that filled his nostrils.

Just as another unrelenting wave sent him under, he felt something graze his stomach and without a second thought he clung to it.

Coughing he looked up, locking gazes with that red blob as he rubbed his eyes wondering if the lack of water finally did him in.

But it wasn't a blob he was staring at, it was a face.

It had bright red hair that almost hurt his eyes with how rich it was. It was a colour he'd only seen passing by the fabric bolts in Indian trade markets, something so expensively eye catching that you couldn't help but desire it.

It made him want to reach out and touch it, unconsciously he'd lifted his hand, the face disappearing under the waves as Denki was left staring at the space where it vanished.

"Yup I'm going insane," he muttered, silently willing the face to return.

He wanted to see it again, see that red hair, thank it for saving his life.

Even if it did turn out to be a figment of his imagination he was still grateful.

By the time he saw it again it was mid-day.

The sun bore heavily down on him, the top of his head burning under the intense heat as he panted.

His stomach pained him with the stabs of hunger he felt, but that wasn't the worst of it- No it was the dryness in his mouth, the disgusting dry feeling weighing his entire body down and he wanted something, anything, to drink.

Even the ocean water was beginning to look tempting.

Without a word there was a splash that caused him to look up, his face sunburnt creating a permanent blush on his cheeks.

Suddenly there was a bird thrust onto his board. It startled him as he stared down at the gull, then back at the place where it came from.

The face was back, his chest jolting with a happiness as he smiled at it, a bit confused.

"Uh hey," his voice hurt, it was awful sounding but he still wanted to talk to it, "What do you want me to do with this?" He asked, weakly holding up the bird in one hand with a thin smile on his cracked lips.

Suddenly the face vanished underwater and he couldn't help but sigh as he looked from the water to the bird.

"Thanks," he muttered as he begrudgingly plucked a few feathers from the bird's neck.

Before he got very far the face popped back up again, scaring him so badly he almost let go of the board.

"Welcome back," he said dryly as the face rose a bit, this time he could see more than just the hair that covered half of its head.

He saw a pair of startling ruby eyes that looked so beautiful under the sun's light, and a mouth that was anything but.

The creature's lips pulled back to show a row of razor sharp teeth that- honestly speaking- scared the utter hell out of Denki.

For a second he thought the thing would eat him before the face pulled out another bird and watched him intently, his eyes looking between Kaminari and his own bird.

"You want me to copy you?" He asked holding his feathered seagull by the neck just as the redhead did.

The face had a sparkle in his eyes as he suddenly bit into the bird. Blood leaking everywhere as Kaminari jolted, rocking the wood as he hastily shook his head.

"Hey! Hey stop that! That'll attract sharks!" He shouted causing the face to look back in confusion, blood smeared on his lips as he gave a cute tilt of his head.

"Sharks. Sha-arks. Pointy teeth, goes chomp chomp to humans like me," he pointed at himself, gesturing as he tried to explain.

But the face still didn't understand.

With a sigh he grinned a toothy grin, pointing at his own flat teeth.

"Shee!" He slurred through his closed mouth.

"I'm not like you, I can't defend myself if sharks come."

Instead of getting through to him the face inched closer showcasing his own pointed teeth as if Kaminari were playing a game.

"Can you talk? Are you even real?" He muttered, putting his head in his hands in defeat.

When he looked up again the face was gone.

All he was left with was the bird, which he begrudgingly looked at.

"This is gonna taste awful."

It was morning when he saw it again.

The night was rough, there hadn't been a single sign of land and sleep was too much of a risk, so all he could do was lightly doze off and hope he didn't let go of the wood sometime in the night.

He managed to get two bites of the bird before not being able to stomach the raw flesh, the thought of eating it was too much even for his hunger.

The blood managed to keep him going, he hated drinking it but he didn't have much of a choice.

It was either that or die of dehydration.

Morning didn't have much to offer, he was tired, to the point that he started to look at the ocean as if it would be alright to quietly slip into its depths and be done with everything.

But he shook his head at the thought.

Jirou and the others would kill him if they knew.

'I wonder if it'll show?' He questioned to himself, laying on the board as the water tickled his ear.

He got his wish at noon.

He was startled awake by a splash of water hitting his face and he bolted upright, not realising he'd been dozing off under the sun's murderous heat.

In front of him was that curious face again, looking at him with- was that concern? He couldn't tell but it almost looked like worry.

He hated when people worried about him.

"Did you just splash me?" He grinned evilly, an eyebrow raised as the face made a noise muffled by the water as his sounds bubbled up.

He splashed back.

The face looked surprised as it ducked underwater and popped back up again, its red hair shining in the sunlight.

"Awe no fair," he whined as the face practically sparkled with glee in front of him.

When did it get closer?

He could see it clearly now, its face was pale and smooth, glistening with the water that rolled off it.

And its eyes.

Its eyes were absolutely captivating.

He'd never in all his life seen such a beautiful shade of red, and he'd explored the four corners of the world himself.

Denki lifted his hand, wanting to touch its skin, feel just how soft he knew its hair would be, but he froze as the creature suddenly looked terrified.

"Ah sorry, guess you don't like to be touched," he shrugged the best he could with a coy smile.

The creature looked at him intently, its hands resting on the board drifting along with him.

It's fingers were webbed together, claws extending out into the wood.

"I knew you weren't human but wow that's different," he laughed as the creature's face suddenly turned a shade of red that mimicked his hair, dipping under the waves as if to hide himself.

"What's wrong?" Kaminari asked, concern drawing his eyebrows together as he watched confused.

"Did you get a sunburn? It is pretty hot out here," he grinned, splashing a bit of water at the redhead.

"Actually there's something that's bugging me, do you understand me?" He pointed at himself and the creature nodded, still hiding half its face under the waves.

"Wow that's awesome! Do you have a name?" He asked a sparkling grin on his face as he leaned forward, him and the creature's noses just inches apart.

The thing ducked underwater disappearing from view, much to the blond's disappointment.

"Wonder what I did?" He mused out loud as he felt something grab his ankle.

Before he could even shout he was pulled under, water filling his ears with a pop as he stared with wide eyes at the sight in front of him.

It was the redhead from before.

Only its hair wasn't red.

He was mesmerised, the thing in front of him had such pitch black dark hair that encircled him, his eyes piercing the blue water with that beautiful redness that looked even more desirable with the flowing hair waving around it.

But that wasn't the only thing that took his breath away.

Where his legs were suppose to be sat a tail that swirled around them both.

It was unbelievably long, grey with gorgeous spots of white on the underside, and fins that reminded him- Regrettably, like a sharks fin.

The creature pointed at himself, his gills (that Denki hadn't noticed before) flared on the side of his neck.

"I'm Kirishima."

Hello!

I had so much fun writing this one omg, Denki's my favourite character and I really like KiriDenki but it's not too mainstream so there's not too much fan stuff TwT

Plus I lOvE pirates! The whole aesthetic is really appealing that I couldn't help but write a bit of it!

Actually this was planned out to be a long term story XD

I dunno if I'll do it anymore, especially since I like the idea of everyone being involved in their own story within it and I'm not sure I could pick a specific side of the story to continue with-

Like Deku trying to become an imperial captain but getting kidnapped and finding out the imperials suck

Bakugo an assassin sent to kill him for treason b̶u̶t̶ f̶a̶l̶l̶s̶ i̶n̶ l̶o̶v̶e̶ w̶i̶t̶h̶ h̶i̶m̶ i̶n̶s̶t̶e̶a̶d̶

Todoroki not wanting to get involved with anyone but after capturing Deku he starts getting attached

Jirou, Mina and the rest of the crew trying to survive and get a boat to find Denki but falling into a million complications

Maybe a bit of JirouXMomo where Jirou sacrifices herself so the others can get away

And heck the whole story between Denki and the siren!

Too many possibilities ack

It's one of my favourite AUs if you hadn't gathered XD

Anyways thanks for reading!

If you have a oneshot you want to see comment away!
