Chapter 2 Weird Burns Explained
(Amu's pov)
After Ikuto fixed my cut, I asked him to explain to me what was going on and we went into a room where no one else was and closed the door.
"Amu, I need you to trust me, okay?" Ikuto said. I nodded. "I am going to have to help you become more mature. I know that you are only 7-years-old, but I am going to kiss you, I have learned how to increase the maturity of your mind. I will bring to my own mentality and then you will be able to understand what's going on, okay?" he asked me.
"Why do you have to kiss me?" I asked.
"Do you trust me?" he asked me again.
"Yes, Ikuto, I do. You are my best friend" I told him, and he kissed me on the lips.
When he kissed me, my mind exploded with information, I watched as my mind expanded and was no longer confused with the little things in life, then slowly, I was able to kiss him back. I no longer had the mind of a 7-year-old, it felt as though I was 16. After the kiss, he asked me what it meant to be in love with someone.
"It means that you can't go one day without thinking about them. It means that you want them in your life no matter the pain or struggle that you will have to endure" I told him. "That is the way I feel towards you."
"I care about you too Amu. I have been in love with you for many years and I am glad you finally accept these feelings. You are ready for the explanation as to what is going on with your blood. Your parents don't know this, and you can't tell them yet" he told me. "Do you understand?" He asked.
"Yes" I told him. I watched him take a deep breath and he started his story.
"You are not human Amu" he said quietly. "You are a vampire."
"From now on, you will be able to eat regular food, but it will not hold any nutritional value for you. You will need to have the blood of an animal or another human and it will not be daily" he explained.
"For hundreds of years, there have been multiple different beings. There are humans, vampires, werewolves, fairies, zombies and many many others. I know this sounds crazy, but the blood of a vampire changes its potency depending on your feelings" he said.
"My feelings?" I asked him. "What do you mean?"
"It means that your blood can poison someone if you are scared, like it did today, it starts as a burn and poisons from the inside out" he told me softly. "It can also heal, when you see one of your friends hurt, you can cut yourself and touch them and their wounds will heal. Our blood does more but for now I think that will do" he finished.
"But why do you know about all this?" I asked him. "What are you?"
"I am the same as you. I am a vampire. Our blood cannot hurt each other because we both share the same" he said into my neck as he hugged me.
He started to explain more when a servant came into the room, "I'm sorry to tell you princess, but the guard that helped you died. For some reason, his burns spread throughout his body and he died from it. We need to check you to see if the enemy burned you too" he said quickly then looked embarrassed because of how Ikuto was hugging me.
"That won't be necessary" Ikuto told the servant. "She was not burned."
The relief on the servant's face was apparent. "Thank God!" then he closed the door yelling "The princess is safe, she wasn't burned!"
"Ikuto, my blood did that. I killed him" I cried. "Please stay away from me. I don't want to hurt you" I told him trying to walk away.
"No Amu, you won't" he told me. "I know that we got your blood to stop but watch" He took his dagger out of his waist and looked at me. "I'm going to cut your hand, not a big one, just a small one but I need to prove to you that I will not be hurt by you" he said then he put a small cut on my left hand.
The blood pooled in my palm and I closed my hand trying to keep Ikuto from touching it.
"Please Amu, trust me" he said quietly. I opened my hand and then he took his right hand grabbed mine. My blood went all over his skin, but he didn't scream or cry. His skin didn't change color or anything. He smiled at me.
"See?" he said holding up his blood covered hand. "You and I share the same blood" Everyone else in your kingdom, as far as I know, cannot touch your blood again, they will die a slow and agonizing death. Our blood burns from the inside out" he explained. "Now will you please allow me to heal your hand and leg" he asked me.
"Please?" I asked him with tears in my eyes, I was happy that I could at least touch one person without hurting them. I watched him as he took the same dagger and pricked his finger and let his blood touch the cut on my hand and my leg. They healed almost immediately, and they didn't hurt anymore.
"Tell me how to protect my family and friends, so I know how to keep them alive and not burn them anymore please Ikuto" I asked him.
(Ikuto's pov)
I looked into Amu's eyes, knowing what I was about to tell her would not be easy but knowing that I had too. I explained one more time to her what we were and what her parents were.
"When you were four years old, I came to the palace asking for your hand in marriage. I knew you were for me because of our blood. I am not a creature of the day but of the night. I am a vampire and you are one too" I started to explain.
"But are my Mama and Pa–" she said quickly
"– No Amu, they aren't. Somewhere in your heritage is a full-blooded vampire. If vampires have children with humans, they may or may not be human. I don't know who in your family was, but someone was because you were born one" I told her.
"After today, you will not be able to go outside without an amulet. My parents gave me mine when I accidently hurt one of my friends at 7 years old. This amulet must be burned into your skin and it cannot be removed. If it ever is, you will never be able to walk in the daylight again. You can choose where you want it, but my dad told me the easiest place and least amount of pain was the right shoulder. Just make sure it cannot be seen at all times it has to be hidden." I explained showing her a clear gem.
"Where are all the locations and how big is this amulet? She asked me.
I explained to her where she could put it and showed her mine.
"Why is yours pink? Your favorite color is blue" she said to me.
"I'll explain that once yours is in place" I told her. "Now where do you want this? We need to complete the process before people come in and wonder what's going on or worse, not let me put this on you and then you will never be able to act as though you are human." I asked her.
"I want mine in the same area as yours, I figure no one but my servants see my chest so it will always be covered" she told me.
"Okay, but you have to allow me to put it there, so I am one more person that will see you Amu" he said smiling.
"Just hurry up and get it over with" she said removing her shirt but leaving on her camisole.
The gem was burned into her chest and she cried but didn't scream. She knew if she did then her servants would come running into the room. As soon as her gem was solidly in place, it began to glow navy blue. When she opened her mouth to ask why, I opened my shirt and showed her mine. It was glowing pink.
"The gems of full-blood vampires are special. It tells you who your true love is even before you or the other person knows" I told her. "This is why I knew four years ago that you would love me, and I would love you" he said quietly. "Do you see now why my gem is pink?" I asked her.
Amu started at the gem on my chest and touched it. "It looks like mine, but yours is prettier" she said smiling. I allowed her to touch my gem and I stared at her smiling. "I want you to know that even though we aren't adults yet, I love you Amu" then I kissed her again and she returned my kiss without hesitation. The kiss was small and innocent, but it still showed her that I loved her. When we pulled apart, I closed my shirt and she put hers back on and the door opened.
"Amu!" her parents said coming into the room, "Are you okay? The guard who rescued you with Ikuto died. He was burned. We couldn't stop the pain or blackness spreading. Are you okay? Are you burned anywhere?" her mom said in a rushed voice.
"No Mama, I'm okay, Ikuto helped me. See?" she said as she picked up the lower part of her skirt and showed her wrapped leg (I know that I had healed her, but we wrapped it back up because everyone in the palace knew she was hurt).
"Amu" her dad said, "You still have some blood on your leg. Were you hurt? Here I'll get it hunny" he said bending down with his hand.
Amu jerked her leg back, "No Papa, it's okay, I got it" she said quickly. "Ikuto can you hand me a rag so I can clean off my leg?" I looked at her trying to tell her to not be jumpy. "Sure, here you go Amu."
"She took at it and handed it back to me.
"Amu, are you okay?" Queen Midori asked her.
"Yes, I just wish I were here when the palace was attacked, I could've help you" she said.
"No, my kawaii akachan, you were safer in the garden. Even though you were taken, you were still saved. In the palace they could've easily killed you" Queen Midori said hugging her daughter.
"Queen Midori, King Tsumugu, I would like to inform Amu about our future" I asked them.
"As long as you are okay if she says no Ikuto-kun" her mom said" She still has a choice" she warned me. Then she started walking to the door with her husband and turned to me before she left.
"Behave, you are only 11 and she is only 7" she told me. "Yes Okusama" I told her bowing.
